Marcella A. Gerbitz

JUNEAU - Marcella A. Gerbitz, 79, died on Wednesday, July 31, 2002, at her daughter Cheryl's home in Juneau.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 2, at 7 p.m., at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Revs. Thomas Biedenbender and Douglas Westenberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Juneau cemetery.

Mrs. Gerbitz was born on March 3, 1923, in the town of Oak Grove, the daughter of Emil and Anna (Schulz) Kienast. She was married on Aug. 31, 1941, to Victor Kohrt at St. Peter's Ev. Lutheran Church, Oak Grove. She was later married in 1989, to Norbert Gerbitz.

Mrs. Gerbitz was a member of the Happy Homemakers, Juneau, the Farm Bureau, and St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau. She enjoyed her garden and liked to crochet.

Survivors include her husband, Norbert Gerbitz, Juneau; three children, Robert Kohrt, Wayne (Judy) Kohrt, and Cheryl (Jim) Koepsell, all of Juneau; six stepchildren; 11 grandchildren; nine step-grandchildren; 15 great-grandchildren; one brother, Wilbert (Josephine) Kienast, Burnett; nieces, nephews, relatives, friends.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Victor Kohrt, in 1984; an infant brother, Ewald Kienast; two sisters, Verona Grulke and Helen Otto; one daughter, Shirley Dittberner; one son-in-law, George Dittberner, and one grandson, Corey Dittberner.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 2, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at St. John's Ev. Lutheran Church, Juneau.

The Berndt-Ledesma Funeral Home, Juneau, is serving the family.

Wallace C. Huebner
Wallace C. Huebner, 84, of Beaver Dam, formerly of Reeseville and the town of Portland, died on Monday, Aug. 5, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 8, 2002, at 11 a.m., at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reeseville. The Rev. Donald Steinberg will officiate. Burial will be in the Reeseville cemetery.

Mr. Huebner was born on Feb. 7, 1918, in the town of Portland, the son of Elmer and Ella (Kohls) Huebner. He was married on June 14, 1942, to Ethelyn A. Dauffenbach in Reeseville.

Mr. Huebner was a 1935 graduate of Reeseville High School, then attended the UW-Madison Agricultural Program. He farmed in the town of Portland and founded the Wallace Huebner Insurance Agency in Reeseville, in 1955, retiring from the Huebner-Kenevan Agency in 1997. He was a charter member of the Reeseville Lions, the Reeseville Optimists and Kayra. He was a past member and clerk of the Lowell-Reeseville School Board and was a past president of the Dodge County Independent Insurance Agents. He was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reeseville.

Survivors include his daughter and son-in-law, Louise and Daniel Kenevan, Beaver Dam; one granddaughter, AmyJo (Dave) Ruthe, Janesville; one grandson, Matthew Kenevan, Madison; two great-grandchildren, Jeremy and Draven Ruthe; two sisters, Gladys Schultz and Joan (Don) Beal, both of Reeseville; his faithful companion, Molly; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Ethelyn Huebner, in 1982; one sister, Alice Pawlowski, and three brothers-in-law, Arthur Pawlowski, Clarence Etscheid, and Clarence Schultz.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 7, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Reeseville, and on Thursday, Aug. 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Lutheran Church, Reeseville.

Mitchell Kirchoff
WAUPUN - Mitchell Kirchoff, 8, of Waupun, died on Saturday, Aug. 10, 2002, due to an accidental drowning while camping in Langlade County.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, Aug. 15, at 11 a.m., at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Waupun. The Rev. Christopher Doerr will officiate. Burial will be in Forest Mound cemetery, Waupun.

Mitchell was born on Oct. 24, 1993, in Waupun, the son of Bernard and Dawn (Herold) Kirchoff.

Mitchell loved to play video games. He was an athletic boy who played many sports, but especially liked soccer. He also enjoyed fishing and liked being a mentor to his younger brother.

Survivors include his mother, Dawn Kirchoff, Waupun; one sister, Sherilyn Kirchoff, Waupun; one brother, Derek Kirchoff, Waupun; maternal grandmother, Lola Kirchoff, Tomah; special friends, Jim, Amanda, and Zachary Schmiedel, all of Oshkosh; aunts, uncles, cousins, many relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his father, Bernard Kirchoff; maternal grandmother, Lavon Herold; paternal grandfather, Bob Kirchoff; great-grandmother, Vernice Wodill; great-grandfather, Harold Wodill, and two uncles, Harland and Duane Herold.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Aug. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m., at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Thursday, Aug. 15, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at Grace Ev. Lutheran Church, Waupun.

Elsie L. Draeger
Elsie L. Draeger, 84, formerly of W7264 Walnut Road, Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, Aug. 13, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center. She struggled with bone marrow cancer for the past four years.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 16, at 11:30 a.m., at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Draeger was born on Feb. 15, 1918, in Chili, Wis., the daughter of Adolph and Anna (Boushon) Hein. She was married on Nov. 15, 1936, to Erwin Draeger in Kingston.

Mrs. Draeger retired from Weyenberg Shoe Factory, Beaver Dam, in 1976, at which time she moved with her husband to their home on Lake Puckaway near Montello. She moved back to Beaver Dam in 1991. She was an avid bowler and bowled for many years at Maple Lanes, Beaver Dam, in the women's and mixed couples leagues. She also loved to embroider and go fishing. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include one daughter, Faroline (Dale) Grebel, Beaver Dam; three grandsons, Randall (Virginia) Grebel, James (Debra) Grebel, and John (LaDana) Grebel, all of Beaver Dam; great-grandchildren, Ashley and Melissa Grebel, Derek Davison and children Sage and Seth, Rebecca (Aaron) Schultz and children Tristan and Kalila, and Michelle (fiance Aaron Crabb) Mittelstadt; two brothers, Ernest (Nita) Hein, Appleton, and Carl (Dorothy) Hein, Neenah; four sisters, Alma Duchow, Wyocena, Liz Marsh, Neenah, Agnes (Donald) MacDonald, Fox Lake, and Dora Kath, Pardeeville; two brothers-in-law, Harold Draeger, Montello, and Edward (Delores) Haldemann, Beaver Dam; six sisters-in-law, Audrey Hein, Beaver Dam, Marian Garthwait, Lake Mills, Zelma Cragin, and Tressa Draeger, both of Montello, Laura (Al) Foss, Princeton, and Mildred Black, Fond du Lac; many nieces, nephews, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin Draeger, in 1991; two brothers, Alfred and Henry Hein; two sisters, Mary Schultz and Evelyn Haldemann; 11 brothers-in-law, Ted Schultz, Edwin Kuphal, Leonard Duchow, Ray Marsh, Clarence Kath, Ed Klawitter, Ed Garthwait, Bernard Cragin, Perry Black, Lester, Marvin, and Victor Draeger; two sisters-in-law, Rose Klawitter and Marie Draeger.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 16, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

The Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, is serving the family.

Jesse H. Millard

Jesse H. Millard, 79, of Beaver Dam, died on Thursday, Aug. 22, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

There will be no funeral services.

Mr. Millard was born on July 15, 1923, in Indiana, the son of Laurel and Mary Millard. He was married to JoAnn in 1947.

Mr. Millard worked at the Indianapolis Blueprint Co. for many years. He moved to Beaver Dam in 1999.

Survivors include relatives and friends

He was preceded in death by his wife, JoAnn, in 1994, and one son, Terry, in 1999.

There will be no visitation.

Eugene H. Wild
LAKE DELTON/MISSION, Texas - Eugene H. Wild, 75, of Lake Delton, and Mission, Texas, formerly of Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at the VA Hospital, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. William Key will officiate. Burial will be in St. Michael's cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mr. Wild was born on April 26, 1927, in Beaver Dam, the son of Oscar and Theodora (Piszczek) Wild. He was married on April 14, 1951, to Barbara Topel in South Milwaukee.

Mr. Wild attended Beaver Dam High School then served in the U.S. Navy. He worked at the Beaver Dam Post Office for many years. He was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam, and the Knights of Columbus. He enjoyed square dancing and was active in the Boy Scouts when his children were younger.

Survivors include his wife, Barbara Wild, Lake Delton; seven children, Paul Wild, Milwaukee, John (Nancy) Wild, Stevens Point, Steve (Kathy) Wild, Beaver Dam, Karen (Dennis) Owen, Stoughton, Claire (Russell) Clark, San Antonio, Texas, Tom (Lori) Wild, Daniel Wild, and Peter Wild, all of Beaver Dam; one brother, Roland Wild, Milwaukee; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Dora M. Peglow
HORICON - Dora M. Peglow, 92, of Horicon, died on Tuesday, Aug. 27, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, Aug. 30, at 11 a.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Dennis Sundell will officiate. Burial will be in Oakhill cemetery, Horicon.

Mrs. Peglow was born on Feb. 23, 1910, in Tomahawk, the daughter of Ben and Bertha (Berg) Mentink. She was married on Dec. 20, 1930, to Erwin Peglow in the town of Hubbard.

Mrs. Peglow lived in the Horicon area for many years where she farmed with her husband. She was a member of St. Stephen Ev. Lutheran Church, Horicon.

Survivors include three sons, Harry (Bernice) Peglow, Lester (Darlene) Peglow, and Harlan (Barbara) Peglow, all of Horicon; 10 grandchildren, Judy (Terry Bork) Peglow, Roy, John Rosemary (Emerson) Beier, Steven, Susan (John) Moe, David, Connie (John) Hosfield, Tammie (Tom Tavafil) Peglow, and Jeanne (Jay) Rotter; seven great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; one brother, Irvin Mentink, Horicon; one sister-in-law, Norma Mentink, Horicon; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Erwin Peglow, on Oct. 7, 1998; four brothers, Charles, Louis, Ernie and Ben, and two sisters, Bertha Heideman and Louise Pirola.

Friends may call on Friday, Aug. 30, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Violet M. Meyer
Violet M. Meyer, 81, formerly of Horicon, died on Thursday, Aug. 29, 2002, at Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam.

A memorial service will be held on Wednesday, Sept. 4, at 2 p.m., at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon. The Rev. Rae Ann Bloomquist will officiate. Cremation will take place.

Mrs. Meyer was born on Oct. 3, 1920, in Iron River, Mich., the daughter of Louis and Eva (Rousseau) Beauchamp. She was married in 1939, to Elmer Meyer in Michigan.

Mrs. Meyer was a resident of Horicon since 1984. She worked at the Red Granite Canning Factory for 20 years, and at the Chrysler Co., Hartford, for 14 years, retiring in 1983.

Survivors include four daughters, Carol (Darrell) Wiegert, Manitowoc, Shirley Smart, Wausau, Nancy (Gerald) Mankowski, Wautoma, and Susan (Charles) Griffin, Juneau; 13 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; one sister, Clara Nutter, Torrence, Calif.; two stepsisters, Kathy (Waltert) Webb, Michigan, and Margie (Allen) Blomshield, Mich.; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Meyer, in 1979; one daughter, Patricia; one son, Edwin, in 2001; six brothers, William, Bob, Roy, Eugene, Francis, and Gerald, and one stepsister, Barbara Homewood.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Sept. 4, from 1 p.m. until the time of service at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Horicon.

Vernon G. Christian
MENOMONIE - Vernon G. Christian, 77, of Menomonie, died on Monday, Aug. 26, 2002, at Myrtle Werth Hospital-Mayo Health Systems, Menomonie.

A graveside memorial service will be held on Saturday, Sept. 21, at 10:30 a.m., in the Friesland cemetery.

Mr. Christian was born on Feb. 6, 1925, in Friesland, the son of Gerhardt and Irene (Welnitz) Christian. He was married to Margaret Mesang.

Mr. Christian worked as a television engineer for the state of Wisconsin for many years.

Survivors include one son, Cary Christian, Menomonie; one daughter, Carol (Peter) Olsen, Oshkosh; two grandchildren; relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents, and his wife, Margaret Christian, in 1962

There will be no visitation.

The Olson Funeral Home, Menomonie, is serving the family.

Friends may call on Monday, Sept. 2, from 9 a.m. until the time of service at the Zum Kripplein Christi Ev. Lutheran Church, town of Herman.

Doris I. Klatt
Doris I. Klatt, 84, of 128 E. Davis St., Beaver Dam, died on Monday, Feb. 4, 2002, at the Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 6, at noon, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Mark Lindner will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Klatt was born on July 11, 1917, in the town of Mackford, the daughter of Emil and Martha (Helmer) Winter. She was married on June 26, 1937, to Herbert C. Klatt.

Mrs. Klatt was employed with Stokely Van Camp, and later at Weyenberg Shoe Factory, Beaver Dam, in the packing department. She was a member of St. Stephen's Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include three daughters, Naomi (James) Schultz, Belvidere, Ill., Rita (James) Schreiber, and Pam (special friend Lauren Wodill) Kluz, both of Beaver Dam; two sons, Merrill (Jackie) Klatt, Belvidere, Ill., and Keith Klatt, Beaver Dam; two brothers, Marvin (Marilyn) Winter, Beaver Dam, and Harvey Winter, Yountville, Calif.; one sister, Viola (Paul) Hoffman, Beaver Dam; one sister-in-law, Delores Winter, Beaver Dam; 10 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Herbert, in 1971, and one brother, Lawrence.

Friends may call on Wednesday, Feb. 6, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.
