Frances J. Kirchberg
Frances J. Kirchberg, 76, of Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, July 15, 2002, at the manor.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Wednesday, July 17, at 6:30 p.m., at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Daniel Massie will officiate. Burial will be in St. Patrick's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Mrs. Kirchberg was born on Aug. 27, 1925, in Brooklyn, N.Y., the daughter of John D. and Marian (Sullivan) Carrick. She was married to LeRoy Kirchberg.

Mrs. Kirchberg was a member of St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include three children, Dennis Carrick, Beaver Dam, Elly (Jim) Sokoly, Mayville, and Joel Kirchberg, Denver Colo.; one sister, Joan Carrick, Ozone Park, N.Y.; six grandchildren, Sean, Shannon, Shelly, Shane, Spencer, and Casey; seven great-grandchildren; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, LeRoy Kirchberg, and two sisters.

Friends may call on Wednesday, July 17, from 4 p.m. until the time of service at St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Memorials may be made to St. Patrick's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Elmer W. Naffin
Elmer W. Naffin, 92, of 907 MacArthur Drive, Beaver Dam, went to his eternal home with his Savior on Monday, July 15, 2002, at Beaver Dam Care Center.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, July 18, at 7 p.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett. The Rev. Dennis Sundell will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mr. Naffin was born on July 9, 1910, in the town of Burnett, the son of Otto and Bertha (Backhaus) Naffin. He was married on Sept. 15, 1934, to Margaret Meyer at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Mr. Naffin farmed in the town of Oak Grove and Burnett for 54 years. After he retired from farming, he worked for Green Giant Co., Beaver Dam, both at the plant and in the field. He was a member, past head usher and elder of Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett. He was also a past school board member for Burnett Central.

Survivors include his wife, Margaret Naffin, Beaver Dam; one daughter, Clarice Gensch, Beaver Dam; two grandsons, Scott (Jennnifer) Gensch, Beaver Dam, and Shawn (Craig Boegeli) Gensch, Salt Lake City, Utah; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one brother, Melvin Naffin, and two sisters, Viola Buchmann and Florence Twardokus.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, from 4 to 7 p.m., at Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Memorials may be made to Zion Ev. Lutheran Church, Burnett.

Lillian A. Kibby
Lillian A. Kibby, 79, of Beaver Dam, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at Burlington Memorial Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 19, at Jowett Funeral Home, Port Huron, Mich. Burial will be in Kinney cemetery, Port Huron, Mich.

Mrs. Kibby was born on March 28, 1923, in Port Hope, Mich., the daughter of Ernest and Anna (Hibawait) Pleiness. She was married to George Engel. She was later married to Roger Kibby.

Mrs. Kibby moved to Beaver Dam from Michigan in December of 2001. She worked at the Kroger Co. as a meat cutter for 22 years. She was a member of Zion Lutheran Church, Port Huron, Mich., and a member of the Ladies Auxiliary Shriners, Battle Creek, Mich.

Survivors include special friend, Carl Andrews, Athens, Mich.; three sons, Gary (Ineen) Engel, Beaver Dam, Curtis (Carol) Engel, Marysville, Mich., and Brent (Julie) Engel, St. Joseph, Mich.; eight grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Alvina Witherspoon, Port Huron, Mich., and Grace Summers, Harbor Beach, Mich.; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; both husbands, George Engel and Roger Kibby; three brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call on Thursday, July 18, at the Jowett Funeral Home, Port Huron, Mich.

Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.

Ella A. Bartsch
MAYVILLE - Ella A. Bartsch, 93, of 34 S. Clark St., Mayville, died on Tuesday, July 16, 2002, at the Mayville Nursing and Rehabilitation Center.

The funeral will be held on Friday, July 19, at 2 p.m., at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa. The Rev. Mark Berlin will officiate. Burial will be in St. John cemetery, Mayville.

Ms. Bartsch was born on March 14, 1909, in Hales Corners, the daughter of William and Anna (Kluge) Bartsch.

Ms. Bartsch was a caregiver for many, many people. She was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa, of Immanuel Ladies Aid, and a former member of the Immanuel Choir.

Survivors include one son, Earl (Janice) Morenzien, Kewaskum; a special sister, Laura Knoll, Mayville; two brothers, Edgar Bartsch, Mayville, and Otto (Alice) Bartsch, Eagle River; two grandchildren, Linda (Gary) Gavin, and Larry (Kris) Morenzien, both of Kewaskum; seven great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; two sisters, Alma Moonen, and Esther Quandt; two brothers-in-law, Eldor Quandt Sr., and Carl Knoll, and one sister-in-law, Marge Bartsch.

Friends may call on Friday, July 19, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa.

Memorials may be made to Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church (River Church), town of Theresa.

Sylvia E. Nell
Sylvia E. Nell, 95, a resident of Hillside Manor, Beaver Dam, died on Monday, July 15, 2002, at the manor.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 20, at noon, at the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Paul Lindau will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Mrs. Nell was born on May 2, 1907, in the town of Lowell, the daughter of Frank and Bertha (Spielman) Lenz. She was married in 1928, to Elmer Nell.

Mrs. Nell grew up on a farm in the Lowell area and attended a country school through eighth grade. She attended one year of confirmation classes in church and was confirmed in the German language. After her schooling years, she worked with her brother Ervin on his farm for six years. After her marriage, she and her husband moved to a farm outside of Beaver Dam. While on the farm they raised two sons, Eugene and Frederick. Along with helping on the farm, she was a 4-H leader and a member of the Spring Valley Homemaker Club. She and her husband later built a house at 119 Roosevelt Drive, Beaver Dam, and her son Fred took over the farm until his first wife, Doris, died on July 27, 1985. They continued to help with the farming chores while their son Fred ran the farm. A few years after her husband's death, she moved to Eagles Wings, and later to Hillside Manor. She was an active member of the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam, where she joined the retirees and the Ladies Aid. She was an avid book reader, enjoyed sewing, baking, arts and crafts. She had made many lovely scrapbooks of her life and had lovely memories of her younger years.

Survivors include one son, Frederick "Fritz" (Pat) Nell, Beaver Dam; one daughter-in-law, Shirley Nell; 12 grandchildren; 24 great-grandchildren; four great-great-grandchildren; nieces and nephews, relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Elmer Nell, in 1990; one son, Eugene Nell, on July 21, 1999; two brothers, and one sister.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Ev. Lutheran Church, Beaver Dam.

Leona Verhage
WAUPUN - Leona Verhage, 92, of Waupun, died on Thursday, July 18, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral will be held on Saturday, July 20, at 11 a.m., at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun. The Rev. Norm Haan will officiate. Burial will be in the Alto cemetery.

Mrs. Verhage was born on Nov. 8, 1909, in Waupun, the daughter of Gerhardus and Hannah (Redeker) Bossenbroek. She was married on Nov. 29, 1933, to Corniel Verhage in Waupun.

Mrs. Verhage and her husband farmed in the Brandon and Waupun area until 1961, when they moved to the city of Waupun. She enjoyed gardening, sewing, caring for her family and interacting with her grandchildren. She was an active member of the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun, and its Mary Martha Society.

Survivors include one son, Harold (Betty) Verhage, Orland Park, Ill.; one daughter, Phyllis Logterman, Waupun; nine grandchildren; 22 great-grandchildren; one brother, Gerald (Marjorie) Bossenbroek, Waupun; one sister-in-law, Violet Bossenbroek, Waupun; many nieces and nephews; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Corniel Verhage, in 1990; one son-in-law, Harold Logterman; one great-grandson, Mitchell Maly; three sisters, Gertrude Navis, Henrietta Verhage, and Marion Bruins, and one brother, Wilbert Verhage.

Friends may call on Saturday, July 20, from 10 a.m. until the time of service at the First Christian Reformed Church, Waupun.

Donald E. Schrab
HORICON - Donald E. Schrab, 82, of 1202 E. Lake St., Horicon, died on Friday, July 20, 2002, at Beaver Dam Community Hospital.

The funeral will be held on Tuesday, July 23, at 11 a.m., at St. John Lutheran Church, Juneau. The Rev. Thomas Biedenbender will officiate. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Mr. Schrab was born on May 11, 1920, in the town of LeRoy, the son of Edward and Elsie (Preist) Schrab. He was married on July 15, 1941, to Ruth E. Wellso in the town of LeRoy.

Mr. Schrab was a graduate of Weaver School of Real Estate. He was a dairy and hog farmer in Dodge and Fond du Lac counties for many years, and also did custom hay baling. In 1950, he was a salesman for Les Frinak Realty. He received his brokers license in 1957, specializing in farm sales, and started his own business in Horicon in 1959. In 1960, he began constructing homes and built over 125 homes in Dodge County. In 1970, he worked for Auction Companies and was a partner of Auction Specialists, acting as clerk. For many years he was a member of the Dodge County Board of Realtors, WAR, NAREB, and the Horicon Rotary Club. He enjoyed traveling, fishing, deer hunting, playing cards, gardening and listening to polka music.

Survivors include two daughters, Sharon (Gary) Dummer, Beaver Dam, and Gloria (Morris) Pingel, Tomah; special companion, Bernice Scherer, Fond du Lac; one brother, Raymond (Victoria) Schrab, Juneau; two grandchildren, Michelle and Greg Dummer; one great-granddaughter, Alison Dummer; nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Ruth, in 1984, and one sister, Dorothy Schlegel.

Friends may call on Monday, July 22, from 5 to 9 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Mayville.

Sherri Bearder
MADISON - Sherri Bearder, 46, of 908 N. Oak. St., Madison, died on Monday, March 4, 2002, at her home.

The funeral will be held on Friday, March 8, at 11 a.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Eileen Kuehnl will officiate. Burial will be in Highland Memory Gardens, town of Trenton.

Ms. Bearder was born on Sept. 8, 1955, in Beaver Dam, the daughter of Ernie and Marlene (Bradley) Bearder.

Ms. Bearder was a graduate of Beaver Dam High School and had an associate's degree in medical mid-management from MATC. She was employed at UW-Hospital, Madison, in the otolaryngology department. She was an avid NASCAR fan.

Survivors include one daughter, Michelle Bearder, Madison; one son, Tyrone Bearder, Madison; one sister, Leesa Bearder, Cudahy; four grandchildren; close friends, James Keller, Beaver Dam, Tony Goldgsby, Marshall, and Mike Thorson, Franklin; relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call on Friday, March 8, from 10 a.m. until the time of service, at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam.

Margaret J. Peters
WAUPUN - Margaret J. Peters, 92, of Waupun, died on Wednesday, Jan. 30, 2002, at the Christian Home, Waupun.

The funeral is pending with the Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun.
