Evelyn Kreuziger
Evelyn Kreuziger, 89, Beaver Dam, died on Sunday, May 11, 2003 at her daughter’s home in Beaver Dam.

The closing service will be on Thursday, May 15, at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam at 10:30 a.m. with a Mass of Christian Burial to follow at St. Michael’s Catholic Church, Beaver Dam at 11 a.m. with Rev. William Key officiating. Burial will be at St. Isadore cemetery in Clyman.

Evelyn was born Nov. 28, 1913 in the Town of Clyman, Dodge County to Frank and Annie (Weisensel) Brigowatz. She was married to Edwin W. Kreuziger on Nov. 20, 1937 in Clyman.

In Evelyn’s younger years, she enjoyed gardening, baking, handywork, dancing, bowling and having parties. She enjoyed vacationing Arizona was one of her favorite destinations. Evelyn also enjoyed playing cards and looking forward to playing with her monthly sister card club. In her later years, Evelyn loved spending time with her friends and family, especially her grandchildren. She was wonderful at remembering birthdays and would always send a greeting card. She was a member of St. John’s Altar Society in Clyman and assisted with church dinners for many years. Evelyn was also a member of the St. Michael’s Rosary Society in Beaver Dam.

Survivors include her children David (Delanie) Kreuziger, Phoenix Ariz.; Ruth (Eugene) Schmidt, Beaver Dam. Seven grandchildren, Mark (Jena) Kreuziger; Dawn Kreuziger and Mary Kreuziger, Ariz.; Dan (Michelle) Schmidt, Mukwonago; Michael (Misty) Schmidt, Beaver Dam; Dennis (Dawn) Schmidt, Beaver Dam and Colette Schmidt. Six great-grand children Kendal Kreuziger, Andy Schmidt, Elliot Schmidt, Michael Stephens, Mathew Stephens and James Luck. A great great grandson, William Stephens. Two sisters; Leona Wedl, Jefferson; Lou Mader, Slinger. A brother, Francis (Marie) Brigowatz, Juneau. Nieces, nephews, other relatives, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Edwin in 1991; a grandson, Johnny Kreuziger; three sisters; Loretta Fitzgerald, Florence Schraven and Mary Moore; a brother; LeRoy Brigowatz.

Friends may call at the Murray Community Funeral Home, Beaver Dam on Wednesday, May 14, from 4 to 7 p.m., where a prayer service will be held at 7 p.m., and on Thursday, May 15, from 9:30 a.m. until the time of closing service.

Memorials may be made in Evelyn’s name to Hillside Home Care/Hospice in Beaver Dam.

Timothy H. Harmsen
FOND DU LAC - Timothy H. Harmsen, 44, of The Harbor Haven Care Center in Fond du Lac, died Sunday, May 11, 2003 at the care center.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14 at 10 a.m. at the Werner Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, with the Rev. G.M. deLeeuw officiating. Burial will follow at Brandon cemetery, Brandon.

Tim was born on Dec. 28, 1958, in Waupun, the son of Wesley and Hilma Jean Kastein Harmsen. He was a special son and brother who was released of his earthly handicap on Sunday morning.

Tim is survived by his father Wesley Harmsen, Waupun; two brothers, Gregory (Beverly) Harmsen, Tomball, Texas; Stanley Harmsen, Brandon; two sisters, Kathy (Dale) Jeche, Juneau; Karen Mulder, Brandon. He is also survived by aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Hilma Jean in 1978, a brother, Jeff in 1986, his paternal and maternal grandparents, Jake and Jennie Harmsen; Harold and Katie Kastein.

Friends and relatives may call at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home on Tuesday, from 5 to 7 p.m. and Wednesday, from 9 until the 10 a.m. hour of service.

Werner Harmsen Funeral Home and staff is serving the family.

Julie A. McLean
SHEBOYGAN - Julie A. McLean, 46, of Sheboygan, died at St. Nicholas Hospital on Friday evening, May 9, 2003, surrounded by her loving family. Her death followed a battle with cancer.

Funeral services were held Tuesday, May 13, at 12 noon at Ballhorn Funeral Chapels with the Rev. Timothy Kuske officiating. Visitation was Tuesday, from 10 a.m. until the time of service.

Julie was born Sept. 21, 1956, in Portage. She graduated from Pardeeville High School, Class of 1974.

She was formerly married to Michael Crawford.

In 1994 Julie came to Sheboygan and was a Certified Nursing Assistant at Encore Senior Village and Homebound Care.

Julie’s work brought much enjoyment into her life, even through the long hours of dedicated service to those who needed her care and compassion.

Survivors include her mother, Joanne Schwoch, of Dalton; two daughters, Jackie J. Hein and Amber Crawford of Sheboygan; a son, Robert Crawford of Sheboygan; three sisters, Beth McLean (Jim Hibner) of Pardeeville, Barb (John) Gardner of Markesan and Joan (Ken) Samplaski of Kingston; two brothers, Mark (Angie) Schwoch of Cambria, and Pete (Cory) Schwoch of Dalton; and other relatives and friends including, Shamika Robinson, Nicholas Bergin and Nicole McDougall.

Preceding her in death was her father, Charles McLean and step-father, Carl Schwoch; and a brother, Robert Charles McLean.

A memorial fund has been established in her name. Julie’s legacy of love will always be cherished by her family.

Lucille E. Zimmerman
MAYVILLE - Lucille E. Zimmerman, 89, formerly of Mayville, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at St. Agnes Hospital, Fond du Lac.

Funeral services will be on Wednesday, May 14 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee at 1 p.m. with the Rev. Dennis Bratz officiating. Burial will be in Graceland cemetery, Mayville.

Lucille was born June 21, 1913, in Kekoskee, the daughter of Frank and Anna (Moldenhauer) Burkhardt Sr. She was married to Armond Zimmerman on June 12, 1937, in Kekoskee.

Lucille was a member of St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee. She was also a member of St. Peter’s Ladies Aid and active in other church organizations.

Survivors include her children, Joyce (Meinert) Otto, Horicon and Vickie (Thomas) Mielke, Milwaukee; one sister-in-law, Erna Zimmer, Horicon; grandchildren, Timothy (Nicole) Mielke, Burlington, Daniel Mielke, Milwaukee, Brian (Judy) Otto, Iron Ridge, Barb (Brian) Held, Horicon and David (Colleen) Otto, Horicon; great grandchildren, Megan, Ryan, Kari, Shawn, Ashley and Jordan; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, husband in 1995; one great granddaughter Kimberly; three sisters, Laura, Esther, Leona; one brother Frank Jr.

Friends and family may call on Wednesday, May 14 at St. Peter’s Ev. Lutheran Church, Kekoskee from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to St. Peter’s Redecorating Fund or to family choice.

Marcella Vant Hoff
WAUPUN - Marcella "Sally" Vant Hoff, 75, Waupun died Sunday, May 11, 2003 at Continental Manor, Randolph.

A memorial service will be held Wednesday, May 14, at 11 a.m. at the Markesan Bible Church, Markesan with the Rev. Levi Snyder officiating. Burial will be a private family interment, will be held at Forest Mound cemetery.

Sally was born June 15, 1927 in Waupun, the daughter of Ernest and Minnie (De Graff) Kumber. She was married to Alvin Vant Hoff on Sept. 11, 1946 in Waupun.

Sally was a 1945 Waupun High School graduate. Following her marriage to Alvin they farmed in the Waupun area until 1986 when they retired and moved to Waupun.

Throughout her lifetime Sally enjoyed teaching Sunday School, leading Bible studies, teaching Good News Clubs for Child Evangelism Fellowship and was active in the jail ministry. She was a former Gideon Auxiliary President for Gideons International for Wisconsin and Upper Michigan area. Sally was also a very active member of the Markesan Bible Church.

Survivors include her husband, Alvin, of 56 years, and their three children, Valerie (Robert) Haverhals, Hudson, S.D.; Connie (Neal) Mundt, Watertown; Calvin (Carla) Vant Hoff, McFarland. Four grandchildren, three great-grandchildren, two sisters, Joan (Donald) Howard, Union Grove; Joyce Kumber, Tallahassee, Fla; a brother, Kenneth Kumber, Fond du Lac, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her parents, a sister, Carol Daley.

Friends may call on Tuesday, May 13, 5 to 8 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun. Sally's family will also receive family and friends at the church on Wednesday following the Memorial Service.

Memorials may be made to Child Evangelism Fellowship, or Gideons International.

Milton Schmuhl
WAUPUN - Milton "Mick" Schmuhl, 93, Waupun, died on Saturday, May 10, at the Waupun Memorial Hospital.

Funeral services will be held Wednesday, May 14 at 12 noon at the Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Waupun, with Rev. Peter Bird officiating. Burial will follow at the Hillside cemetery, Ripon.

Mick was born Oct. 2, 1909 in Alto the son of Henry and Hulda (Block) Schmuhl. He was married to Lenora Stellmacher on March 15, 1938 in Ripon.

Mick was a graduate of Brandon High School and the University of Wisconsin school of banking. Mick worked at the Fairwater Bank for three years, and later was employed for 50 years at the State Bank of Waupun where he had retired as bank president in 1983.

Mick had many hobbies, of which some were growing and tending to a large variety of roses, golfing, hunting, and being a member of the Mascoutin Maverick Parade Scooter Team.

He was a member of the Rock River Country Club, American Bowling Congress, Kiwanians, Wis. State Golf Association, Mascoutin Mavericks, Zor Temple AAONMS of Madison, Valley of Madison Scottish Rite Bodies, Grand Lodge Waupun #48, Free & Accepted Masons of Wis., and a member of Holy Trinity Episcopal Church, Waupun, a veteran of the U.S. Army 13th air force in the South Pacific during World War II.

Survivors include two sisters-in-law, Ellen L. Schmuhl and LaVerne Stellmacher; nieces, nephews and cousins; longtime bank co-workers and special home care providers.

He was preceded in death by his wife Lenora in 1983, two brothers Victor and Everett Schmuhl and one sister, Lolita Stevens.

Friends and family may call at the Werner-Harmsen Funeral Home, Waupun, on Tuesday, May 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. The American Legion Post 210, Waupun, will provide military honors at 6:45 p.m. The family is being served by Werner Harmsen Funeral Home.

Evalyn Christian
BRANDON - Evalyn Christian, 89, Brandon, died Saturday, May 10, 2003, at the Christian Home, Waupun with her family by her side.

The funeral will be Tuesday, May 13, at 11 a.m. at the Brandon United Methodist Church, 107 E. Washington St., Brandon, with the Rev. Margaret Gillikin officiating. Burial will be at Highland Memory Gardens, Town of Trenton, Dodge County.

Evalyn was born April 2, 1914, in Lonoke, Ark., the daughter of Lonnie and Letha (Ward) Jimmerson. She was married to Richard Perry Christian on Feb. 8, 1931, in Little Rock, Ark.

Evalyn was a great homemaker and helped farm the Christian homestead near Brandon, until her husband Perry preceded her in death on Jan. 22, 1974. Evalyn was a very active member of the Brandon United Methodist Church, where she taught Sunday School for several years. She was a member of the United Methodist Women and held an office for many years until her health started to fail. She was also a member of the W.C.T.U. and was an avid gardener and loved to bake for her family.

Survivors include three daughters; Betty Ruenger, Fox Lake; Laura (Kenneth) Schultz, Waupun; Margaret (Donald) Van Egtern, Fox Lake; 16 grandchildren, 29 great grand-children, one foster grandchild, three foster great-grandchildren, three foster great-great-grandchildren and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her husband, a son, Richard C. Christian, May 3, 1999, a grandson, Richard C. Christian, Jr., in 1965, a son-in-law, Marvin Ruenger on Dec. 8, 1995, her parents, and two brothers, William Stagg and Paul Workman; her foster parents, Dr. and Mrs. O.P. Christian.

Friends may call on Monday, May 12, from 5 to 8 p.m. at Kohls Community Funeral Home, Waupun, and on Tuesday at the church from 10 a.m. until the time of the service.

Memorials may be made to Brandon United Methodist Church.

Theodora J. Rich
Theodora J. "Teddy" Rich, 78, of 1023 Lawndale Drive, Beaver Dam, died on Friday, May 9, 2003, at the Continental Manor, Randolph.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 12, at 11 a.m., at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam. The Rev. Emmanuel Udo will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter's Catholic cemetery, Beaver Dam.

Theodora was born on Aug. 27, 1924, in Czechoslovakia, the daughter of Augustin and Augustine (Hertl) Schaffer. She was married to Nelson "Jim" Rich on Feb. 10, 1945, in St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Theodora was a member of St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

Survivors include four children, Dave (Shirley) Rich, Davie, Fla., Tom (Jacquelyn) Rich, West Bend, Kathleen Wheeler, Beaver Dam, and Lori Grahn, Beaver Dam; eight grandchildren, Christopher and Heather Rich, Andrea and Jacob Rich, Jennifer Dobbratz, Taryn Wheeler, and Adam and Jessica Grahn; five great-grandchildren; other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Nelson "Jim" in 1972; other relatives and friends.

Friends may call on Sunday, May 11, from 4 to 7 p.m., at the Koepsell Funeral Home, Beaver Dam, and on Monday, May 12, from 10:30 a.m. until the time of Mass at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Beaver Dam.

John M. Eckel
MADISON - John M. Eckel, 73, died on Wednesday, May 7, 2003, at Meriter Park Hospital, Madison.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, May 12, at 1 p.m., at St. Dennis Catholic Church, 505 Dempsey Road, Madison. The Rev. Sanctus Ibe will officiate. Burial will be held in the Fall River City cemetery.

John was born on Nov. 30, 1929, in Columbus, the son of Orville and Ellen (O'Connor) Eckel.

John was a member of St. Dennis Catholic Church, Madison. He was an astute businessman who owned and operated Eckel Sanitation and after selling the business was employed as a salesman for Green Valley.

Survivors include one son, Jerry (Deborah Vaughn) Eckel, Huntley, Ill.; two daughters, Debbie (Tim) Rice and Michele McCarthy, all of Wausau; eight grandchildren, Michael Rice, Ashley Rice, Brooke McCarthy, Adam McCarthy, Lindsey Eckel, Katie (Chad) Leahey, Molly (Chris) Borreson and Anthony Eckel; three great-grandchildren, Allison Leahey, Evan Leahey and Peyton Eckel; two sisters, Mary Ellen (Oliver "Bud") Jones, Fall River, and Katherine (William) Bleich, Beaver Dam; two step-sisters, Pearl Hermanson, Hartford, and Ethel Mackhovch, Beaver Dam; one step-brother, John Hartt Jr., Columbus; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two sons, Steven and Stewart; one sister, JoAnn Frank; one nephew, Tim Frank and a special aunt, Alyce Loomer.

Friends may call on Monday, May 12, from 11 a.m. until the time of service at St. Dennis Catholic Church, Madison.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the American Heart Association would be appreciated.
