James Donald Finn
DOUSMAN - James Donald Finn, of Dousman, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at Froedtert Memorial Lutheran Hospital in Wauwatosa at the age of 73.

He was born April 27, 1927, in Waukesha County, the son of Daniel Finn and Margaret Windell. He married Mary Ellen Cartwright in Waukesha on Oct. 30, 1948. James worked for the Oconomowoc Police Department for 15 years.

He was preceded in death by his parents; his daughter, Linda Babcock; and his brother, Ray Windell.

He is survived by his wife, Mary; his children, Donald (Donna) Finn, of the town of Summit, Timothy (Debbie) Finn of Watertown and Joseph (Joann) Finn of Dousman; his brothers, William (Evelyn) Finn of Pickeral Lake and Danny Jr. (Molly) Finn of California; his son-in-law, Bernard Babcock of Mauston; 12 grandchildren, five great-grandchildren, and other relatives and friends.

James served in the Navy in World War II. He was a member of St. Brunofs Catholic Church in Dousman and the Dousman American Legion Post 405. He was a 30-year member of the Dousman Volunteer Fire Department.

James Donald Finn will be missed, loved and well-respected by his family, friends and the community for all his love, hard work and respect he shared with all of us.

Visitation will be held from 3 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service today, Aug. 14, at Pagenkopf Funeral Home, 1165 Summit Ave., Oconomowoc. The Rev. John F. Murphy will officiate.

Memorials should be directed to the family.

Thomas Peter Grzechowiak
ELKHORN - Thomas Peter Grzechowiak, 83, of Elkhorn, died Saturday, August 12, 2000, at his residence. Thomas was born in Chicago, Ill., on May 27, 1917, the son of Jacob and Martha (Gidaczeski) Grzechowiak.

Thomas served in the U.S. Navy aboard the USS Bebas as a chief bosinfs mate during World War II. Thomas married Christine "Teeny" Wermesan on June 15, 1946, at Pheasant Run, Ind. She died Nov. 6, 1996. He was employed as a salesman of ecclesiastical candles with Mack-Miller Company of New York for over 40 years, retiring in 1982. He was an avid golfer and the originator of the "Polish Open."

Thomas is survived by two children, Thomas F. (Kathleen) Grzechowiak of Eagan, Minn., and Gloria Connelly of Mukwonago; four grandchildren, John and Joseph Connelly and Nicholas and Andrea Grzechowiak; one brother, Rev. Francis Grzechowiak of Chicago, Ill.; and one sister, Theresa (Erv) Gira of Myrtle Beach, S.C. He is further survived by numerous nieces, nephews and many dear friends. He was preceded in death by his parents; his wife, Christine; and one brother, Norbert.

Funeral services will be held at a later date.

Rogene M. Schreiber
TOWN OF BROOKFIELD - Rogene M. Schreiber, 63, died peacefully at home on Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000. She was born in Sheboygan on Aug. 4, 1937, to Chris and Sophie (nee Mueller) Horness. Mrs. Schreiber was a 1955 graduate of Sheboygan Central High School. On March 14, 1959, she married John Schreiber. She was a member of First Presbyterian Church for 30 years and was employed at Polychrome Inc., retiring in 1990.

She will be sadly missed by her loving husband of 41 years, John, and their two children, Michael (Ruth) Schreiber of Pewaukee and Mark Schreiber of Milwaukee. Mrs. Schreiber is further survived by her sister, Rella Roop of Rockford, Ill.; her brothers, Robert (Pat) Horness, Ralph (Carol) Horness and Richard (Sherry) Horness, all of Howards Grove; her sisters-in-law, Marge (Bert) Drepps of Howards Grove and Marion Horness of River Falls; other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by two brothers, Raymond Horness and Roger Horness.

Visitation will be held from noon until the 3 p.m. funeral service on Wednesday, Aug. 16, at First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave. The Rev. Don Clarke will officiate.

Memorials are suggested to First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave., Waukesha Wis., 53186, or to a charity of their choice.

Richard eRichf J. Wegner
MUKWONAGO - Richard "Rich" J. Wegner, of Mukwonago, passed away unexpectedly on Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 53. Rich was born in Mukwonago on Sept. 21, 1946, to John and Ramona (nee Linde) Wegner.

He was the manager of Ramonafs Tap in Mukwonago. Rich was a member of the American Legion Post #375 in Mukwonago, and an active member and past president of the Mukwonago Lions Club. He was also an avid bowler.

Survivors include his mother, Ramona, of Mukwonago; a sister, Chris "Tina" Nuchell of Mukwonago; his niece and nephew, Nicole and Cody Nuchell; other relatives and friends. His father, John, preceded him in death.

Friends may call from 2 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, until the time of the funeral service at 4 p.m. at the Schmidt & Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll cemetery in Mukwonago.

Nancy S. Wiegelman
PEWAUKEE - Nancy S. Wiegelman (nee Haerter) was born to eternal life Wednesday, Aug. 9, 2000, at the age of 61 after a courageous battle with cancer. She was born in 1939 to Jack and Leona Haerter. On Dec. 3, 1955, she married Jack Wiegelman. They were married for 43 years before he entered eternal life.

After raising her four surviving children, Michael (Debbie), Terry (Sheri) Wiegelman, Bonnie (Dan) Erschen and Tammy Wiegelman, she entered the workforce. For the last 23 years she was a loyal employee of the Acme Machell Company where she worked as an inspector.

Further surviving are her treasured grandchildren, Daniel, Randy, Bobby, Jennifer, Christopher, Samantha and Jacob, whom she loved dearly. She was preceded in death by her parents; her siblings; her husband, Jack; her son, Jeffrey; and her grandsons, Ronnie and Donnie.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. today at the Harder Funeral Home-Brookfield, 18700 W. Capitol Drive. Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Interment will be in Wisconsin Memorial Park.

Nancy will always be remembered for her sweet disposition, friendliness, hugs and kisses, as well as her courage to handle lifeÕs challenges.

Christopher Charles Cole
FREMONT, Calif. - Christopher Charles Cole of Fremont, Calif., entered into rest Sunday, July 30, 2000, at his home at the age of 53. He was born May 24, 1947, in Terre Haute, Ind. He was raised in Waukesha and attended Blair Elementary School. Chris was a graduate of St. Johnfs Military Academy, the U.S. Military Academy at West Point and Boston University. He served 20 years in the U.S. Army, retiring as a lieutenant colonel in 1990. Since then, he worked as an organizational development consultant in the San Jose area.

Chris was a Fremont resident for 10 years and a member of the Fremont Chamber of Commerce, the San Francisco Bay West Point Society, the American Society of Training and Development and the Retired Officers Association. When not consulting and training, Chris was an avid Green Bay Packers fan, a passionate golfer and a voracious reader. He ended every conversation with the advice, "Keep smiling!"

He was the beloved husband of Mary L. Jones-Cole of Fremont; loving brother of William W. Cole of Virginia, Jacklyn Holanda of Indiana, Joy Reynolds of Wisconsin and the late Sally Joppa.

Funeral services for Chris were held Friday, Aug. 4, in Fremont and Monday, Aug. 7, at the West Point Cadet Chapel in New York.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests that contributions be made to the West Point Fund-Association of Graduates, 698 Mills Road, West Point, NY 10996. Please annotate the check "Leadership and Ethics Library in Memory of Christopher C. Cole."

Dolores C. Daley
NEW BERLIN - Dolores C. Daley, of New Berlin, died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at Elmbrook Memorial Hospital at the age of 83. She was born March 10, 1917, the daughter of Charles and Edna Weaver. Dolores graduated from West Division High School in Milwaukee and was on the honor society as well as the class valedictorian.

Dolores will be deeply missed by her children, Mary Gail (Bruce) Johnson of Illinois, Kathleen (Jim) Murphy of Brookfield, Patricia Daley of Hartland and Tom Daly of New Berlin; her 10 grandchildren, Steve, Sarah, Corey, Michael John, Tom, Rick, Mike, Terry, Chad and Jim; two great-grandchildren, Zachary and Kaitlyn; other relatives and friends.

The funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 15, in the Family Center at Wisconsin Memorial Park, 13235 W. Capitol Drive, Brookfield. Friends may call at the Family Center from 11 a.m. until the time of the service at 1 p.m. Entombment will immediately follow the service.

Delbert C. Hunkins Sr.
TOWN OF VERNON - Delbert C. Hunkins Sr. passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 77.

Delbert was born in Waukesha on Aug. 15, 1922, to Robert and Ida (nee Dallman) Hunkins. He was a retired machinist from Hein-Werner Corp. in Waukesha. Delbert was also a member of the Soat-Vergenz V.F.W. Post #721 and the Marine Corps League in Waukesha.

Survivors include his son, Delbert Jr. (Mary) Hunkins of the town of Vernon; three daughters, Kathleen (James) Rait of Green Bay, Arlene (Patrick) Madison of the town of Waterford and Patricia (Oral) Windle of East Troy; 10 grandchildren, Todd (Carole), Chad and Ryan Hunkins, Jessica Rait, Vicky and James Madison, Martha, Matthew, Michael and Mitchell Windle; two great-grandchildren, Cassandra and Chloe Rose; one brother, Evert (Dorothy) Hunkins of Necedah; one sister, June Merrill of Brooksville, Fla.; other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Claire; two brothers, Robert and Roy; and four sisters, Izzy Sanders, Hazel Hanke, Mabel DeLano and Ann Langlaus.

Friends may call Wednesday, Aug. 16, from 6 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 8 p.m. at the Schmidt and Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago. Cremation will follow.

Carol M. Mainz
ROCHESTER, Minn. - Carol M. Mainz, formerly of Oconomowoc, died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at St. Maryfs Hospital in Rochester, Minn., at the age of 86. Carol was born in Oconomowoc on Feb. 17, 1914, the daughter of Thomas and Nettie Rollefson. On July 29, 1939, she married Howard R. Mainz at Stone Bank.

Carol and Howard lived in Oconomowoc until her retirement in 1978. The couple also lived in Amery and Onalaska for several years prior to moving to Rochester in 1991. Carol taught music for a total of 34 years in the Waukesha County and Oconomowoc public school systems. She loved playing the piano, being with her family and participating in their activities.

While living in Oconomowoc Carol was a Sunday School teacher. She was a member of Delta Kappa Gamma retired teacherfs sorority, a member of Bethel Lutheran Church in Rochester, and was involved in the Bethel Lutheran seniors group.

She is lovingly survived by her husband, Howard; her children, Sharyll (Phil) Smith of St. Louis Park, Minn., Diane (Alan) Amans of Amery and Paul (Joleen) Mainz of Rochester; seven grandchildren; one great-granddaughter; and one sister, Marian (Gerald) Peterson of Hartland. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. until 8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at Vine Funeral Home in Rochester. A second visitation will be held from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service on Friday, Aug. 18, at Bethel Lutheran Church; the Rev. Linda Helberg will officiate.

Marie T. Marks
GREENFIELD - Marie T. Marks (nee Salentine), died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000, at the age of 98.

Marie was preceded in death by her husband, Edward.

Marie is the dear mother of Eugene E. (Dorothy) and the late Norman (Marilyn). She is the grandmother of Jean, Mary Jo (Ken) Lange, Jacqueline (Frank) Luthi, Joe (Sue), Ken, Barbara Thom, David (Pam), Norma (Ken) Rapp and Mary Sue (Dan) Chapman. She is survived by 11 great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the Mass of Christian Burial at 3 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Holy Apostles Catholic Church, 16000 W. National Ave., New Berlin. Interment will be at Holy Apostles cemetery.

Kurt William Schroeder
TOWN OF ERIN - Kurt William Schroeder of the town of Erin, formerly of Brown Deer, died Friday, Aug. 11, 2000, at the age of 90. He was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 18, 1909, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Ferdinand Schroeder.

On March 2, 1940, Kurt married Esther Hennecke. He served his country in the U.S. Army during World War II, and retired in 1973 from American Paper and Plastics in Milwaukee. Kurt was a charter member of Crown of Life Lutheran Church in Hubertus.

He is survived by his sons, Dennis (Faith) Schroeder of Pine Island, Minn., and Donald (Gail) Schroeder of Hartford; his grandchildren, Gretchen and Stephanie Schroeder; his great-granddaughter, Alexandra; and other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Esther.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral service Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Crown of Life Lutheran Church, 1282 Tally Ho Trail, Hubertus; the Rev. John Schneidervin officiating. Interment will be in Pleasant Hill cemetery in Hartford.

Memorials to the Crown of Life Building Fund or Community Memorial Hospital Cancer Care Center in Menomonee Falls are appreciated.

Ruth E. Wilhelm
NEW BERLIN - Ruth E.Wilhelm was born into eternal life Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at age 89. She was preceded in death by her loving husband, Lawrence.

Ruth was the dear mother of Paul (Jean), Gerald (Mary), Grace (Dave) Stoltmann, Marie (Don) Kiefert, Donna (Walt) Rutchik and the late Theresa (Gene) Bogenberger. She was also loved by 12 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren; two sisters, Kathryn Romang and Marjorie Bohner; one brother, Eugene (Joan) Young; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Aug. 16, at Krause Funeral Home, 9000 W. Capitol Drive, with a rosary vigil at 7:30 p.m. There will be a Latin Tridentine Mass at 9 a.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, in the funeral homefs Chapel of Peace, followed by visitation from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Entombment will be at Holy Cross cemetery.

Joan Louise Lurvey
OCONOMOWOC - Joan Louise Lurvey, of Oconomowoc, died Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at her home at the age of 40. She was born in Oconomowoc on Oct. 18, 1959, the daughter of Royal Lurvey and Joyce Schmocker.

Joan was a 1978 Oconomowoc High School graduate, attended the University of Waukesha and graduated from the University of Wisconsin-Stevens Point. She was formerly employed at Schulte Green House in Pewaukee and Little Vittles in Oconomowoc for 17 years. She was a member and former treasurer of the Ixonia Womens Softball League and the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa.

She is survived by her mother, Joyce Lurvey of Oconomowoc; her sisters, Susan Lurvey of Waukesha and Marilyn (Otto) Panzenhagen of Menasha; her brothers, Ernest (Jennifer) Lurvey of Marshfield and Martin (Linda) Lurvey of Rockford; her niece, Brenda Lurvey; her nephews, Tim and Ben Lurvey and Chad and Nathan Panzenhagen; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her father, Royal Lurvey.

Funeral services for Joan will be held at 3 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 17, at the First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, Hwy. C & D in the town of Ottawa; the Rev. Ralph Schultz officiating. Friends may call from noon until the time of the service at the church. Interment will be in Ottawa cemetery.

Memorials may be made to First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa or the charity of your choice.
