Malcolm D. Phebus
WAUKESHA - Malcolm D. Phebus, loving husband of Shirley and loving father of Anne of Waukesha, Dru of Norwalk, Conn., Jill Grimes (Joe) of Park Rapids, Minn. (grandchildren Jacob, Anna, Emily and Megan), Jay of Milwaukee and Lynn of Waukesha, passed away Saturday.

Mal graduated from Rufus King High School and Marquette University. He was Mal Phebus Real Estate Investments.

A private family memorial service will be held at St. Mary’s Church, Waukesha.

Memorials to the Waukesha Paramedic Fund, 130 W. St. Paul Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188 are suggested.

Violet M. Wulk
ISHPEMING, Mich. - Violet M. Wulk, age 88, passed away Monday, Aug. 14, 2000, at her home in Ishpeming.

Violet was born Oct. 28, 1911, in Milwaukee to the late Martha and Charles Thiele. She moved to Waukesha, where she spent the majority of her life. She will always be remembered for her love of music. Her beautiful voice was heard at many funerals and weddings.

Violet was a member of the Evangelical and Reformed United Church of Christ in Waukesha for more than 64 years and cherished her time with the senior choir. She was a member of her church guild and Friendly Folks, and in her younger years she loved to bowl. Violet moved to Ishpeming in 1990.

She will be lovingly remembered by her family: her daughter, Carole Gustavson of Ishpeming; her grandchildren, Randy (Connie) Teall, Scott (Pam) Patrick and Joan Patrick, all of Ishpeming, and Terry (Judy) Patrick of Florida; four great-grandchildren, Tim (Athena) Teall, Amanda, Cassie, T.J. and Kayleigh Patrick; and a sister, Dorothy Klein of Oconomowoc.

Violet was preceded in death by her first husband, Harold Graf, former police chief of Elm Grove; her second husband, Vernon Wulk; her great-grandson, Chase Patrick; her grandson, Billy Patrick; her daughter, Jolene Graf; and her son-in-law, William Patrick.

Cremation will take place, followed by graveside services at 10 a.m. Saturday, Aug. 19, at Pilgrims Rest cemetery in Pewaukee.

Ella Mae (Maizie) Coleman
DELAFIELD - Ella Mae (Maizie) Coleman (nee Davies), 79, passed away at her home in Delafield on Aug. 16, 2000. Maizie was the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. David E. Davies. She was a graduate of the Waukesha High School and the class of 1943 of Carroll College. She was a member of Delta Zeta (Theta Pi Delta) sorority. Maizie achieved the honor of being one of the first women in the Civil Aeronautics Administration. She soloed her plane in 1941.

She was a member of the Delafield Presbyterian Church, the Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club, the St. David’s Welsh Society, a past member of the Waukesha Womans’ Club and the Waukesha Garden Club.

Until recently, she was the office manager of Waukesha Rentals. For many years she was the Welcome Wagon hostess for the Waukesha area.

She will be remembered for her gracious spirit and giving heart which touched so many throughout all her life’s challenges.

Maizie was the beloved wife of John for 56 years, and the loving mother of her daughters, Deborah Anne Bartmann of Waukesha and Nancy Hannon and husband Rick of Delafield, and her daughter-in-law, Gail Coleman of Delafield.

She is also survived by her brother, David G. Davies, and his wife, Elaine, of Scottsdale, Ariz.; her sister, Juliann Abendroth, and her husband, Emerson, of Overland Park, Kan.; and seven grandchildren, Douglas and Steven Bartmann, Jason, Cole and Casey Hannon and Stephanie and David Coleman. She was preceded in death by her sons, David and Steven.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Delafield Presbyterian Church. Funeral services will immediately follow the visitation at 7 p.m.

In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Maizie’s favorite charities: The Delafield Presbyterian Church, P.O. Box 180315, Delafield, WI 53018; The Nagawicka Lake Yacht Club sailing school; or the Rolland Nelson Crossroads Hospice, 1020 James Drive, Suite E, Hartland, WI 53029, which has become the family’s favorite charity.

Steve Italiano
WAUKESHA - Longtime Waukesha resident, Steve Italiano, died Wednesday, Aug. 16, 2000, at the age of 82. He was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 13, 1917, to Joseph and Jane (nee Alliota) Italiano. He was a member of St. Joseph’s Catholic Church.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Arlene (Don) Scherf, Lulu (Ron) Wagner of Waukesha, Donna Schmidt of Eagle and Jeff (Kim) Italiano of Hartland. He was the dear grandfather of Ron (Sara) Wagner, Don (Mary) Scherf, Cheryl (Andy) Karklus, Jason Schmidt and Rachel and Nicole Italiano; and beloved great-grandfather of Lauren Wagner, Anthony Karklus and Joshua and Madeline Scherf. He is further survived by sisters, relatives and friends.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Frances J. Italiano, on June 11, 1992.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the Funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Waukesha; Fr. Aurelio Perez officiating. Burial will follow at St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery.

Donald J. Kohr
PEWAUKEE - Donald J. Kohr, of Pewaukee, passed away Tuesday, Aug. 15, 2000, at the age of 81.

Don was a member of the 71st Division Association, the Pewaukee VFW Post 9573 and the Pewaukee American Legion Post 71, where he served as Past Commander.

Survivors include his wife, Diane (nee Bonk); his children, Donald E. (Mary) of Hartland, Cheryl (Robert) Claffey of Hartland and Linda (Michael) Weber of Hartland; six grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Gertrude Mariucci; nieces, nephews and friends.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Aug. 18, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, N35-W23401 Capitol Drive, Pewaukee. Visitation will be held at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be at Highland Memorial Park in New Berlin.

Memorials to the church are appreciated.

Mary Joyce Buetow
WAUKESHA - Mary Joyce Buetow (nee Hotelling) died Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at the age of 79.

She was the dear wife of the late Kenneth; loving mother of Larry (Melody) and John (Corky) Buetow; grandmother of Michael, Jaime (John) Vincent and Renee; great-grandmother of Aaron Vincent; dear sister of Verna Schust and Betty Loth; and her special friend, Earle Pegler. She is also loved by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Mary Joyce was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church, the Prospect Aide Society Inc. and Muskego Historical Society.

A memorial gathering will be held at 6 p.m. Monday, Aug. 21, 2000, at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 E. Main St., Waukesha, followed by a celebration of Mary’s life at 7 p.m. A private burial will be held at Wood National cemetery.

Charles Lombardi
WAUKESHA - Charles Lombardi, 66, was born to eternal life Aug. 15, 2000, at home following a lengthy illness with pulmonary fibrosis. He was born into this life in Waukesha on June 29, 1934, the son of the late Laverne Kissling Lombardi and the late Michael Lombardi. He was a 1953 graduate of Waukesha High School, where he was a member of the 1952 undefeated championship football team. While in the ninth grade he played on the varsity basketball team and lettered in football, basketball, baseball and track. Mr. Lombardi played on the championship Waukesha Fast Pitch Softball teams, the Land O’ Lakes baseball team and city basketball teams. He very proudly served his country in the United States Army, receiving a Good Conduct Ribbon. He was employed for many years at RTE/Cooper Power Systems and was a faithful member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church.

He is survived by his loving wife, Calma (nee Weiher), and two daughters, Carrie and Lisa Lombardi, all of Waukesha. He is further survived by his brothers and sisters, Stanley Lombardi of Daly City, Calif., Betty (Maurice) Tio of Waukesha, Michael (Pat) Lombardi of Greendale, Robert (Mayor Carol) Lombardi of Waukesha, Nancy (the late Michael) Geszvain of New Port Richey, Fla., and Sandra (John) Wise of Waukesha; his aunt, Thelma Lombardi Murray of Waukesha; many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 10:30 a.m. until the noon service of remembrance Saturday, Aug. 19, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St. The Rev. Rod Resheske is officiating. Private interment will be held at Prairie Home cemetery at a later date.

Bobbi-Sue Palmer
MADISON - Bobbi-Sue Palmer, 29, died unexpectedly Saturday, Aug. 12, 2000, at her home. She was born Oct. 29, 1970, in Oconomowoc, the daughter of Ruthann Palmer. She graduated from Kettle Moraine High School in Wales in 1988.

She is survived by her mother, Ruthanne (Mitchell) Schmieder of Sullivan; a brother, Jason Schmieder of Sullivan; her maternal grandmother, Dorothy Palmer of Oconomowoc; her uncles, Gordon (Barb) Palmer, Gilbert Palmer and Arnold (Leslie) Palmer; many cousins and steprelatives. She was preceded in death by her maternal grandfather, James K. Palmer.

A memorial service will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the United Church of Christ in Dousman with the Rev. Ralph Schultz officiating. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the services Tuesday. Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 23, at Ottawa Town cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Palmer family.

Lois Blaemers
SANTEE, Calif. - Lois Blaemers, 75, of Santee, Calif., died Sunday, Aug. 13, 2000. Lois was born in Cedar Grove, where she attended school and married her husband of 53 years, Gordon Blaemers, who died in March 2000.

Lois and Gordon moved to San Diego, Calif., in 1970, where they started a new business, now owned and operated by their five children.

Lois and Gordon traveled extensively and enjoyed an active social life. Both were avid golfers and visited many golf courses in California and Arizona. They also owned a second home in Borrego Springs, Calif.

Lois was an active member of Elks Lodge #182 in El Cajon, Calif., participating in the women’s golf league and canasta club. She wrote jokes and poems for the league newsletter and was known for her creative golf hat designs.

She will be remembered for her cheerful outlook, quick smile, and her many jokes. Her memory will live on in her five children, Rob Blaemers, Jeffrey Blaemers, Linda Blaemers, Lori Pettey and Loni Fronabarger, all of San Diego County; her grandchildren, Jennifer and Katherine Blaemers; her daughters-in-law, Linda Blaemers and Jill Blaemers; and her son-in-law, Dennis Pettey. Lois is also survived by her two sisters, Mary Westerbeke and Jean Vander Jagt, both of Cedar Grove.

Vincent Cuellar
LOCKNEY, Texas - Vincent Cuellar, 44, of Plainview, Texas, died Friday, Aug. 18, 2000, at Covenant Hospital in Plainview. He was born Dec. 21, 1955, in Ganado, Texas to the late Hilario Cuellar and Petra Gonzales Cuellar. He attended schools in Floydada and graduated from Lockney High School in 1974. He married Olga Montes on July 6, 1979, in Mexico. He moved to Plainview from Lockney in 1991. He worked in maintenance at Warrick Furniture Store in Plainview and was a member of San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney. He was preceded in death by a brother, Lorenzo Cuellar.

Vincent is survived by his wife, Olga, of Plainview; a son: Lorenzo Cuellar of Plainview; four brothers: Hilario Cuellar Jr. of Waukesha, Eugene Cuellar, Richard Cuellar and Israel Cuellar, all of Lockney; and four sisters, Juanita Rodriguez of Abilene, Texas, Teresa Romero of Waukesha, Mary Ann Pedroza of Lockney and Esther Bloss of Indiana.

Special Rosary services for Vincent will be held at 7 p.m. today, Aug. 21, at San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney. A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at the San Jose Catholic Church in Lockney; the Rev. Jim McCartney officiating. Burial will be in the Lockney cemetery under the direction of Moore-Rose-White Funeral Home.

Helen A. Hoffman (nee Kapuschat)
PEWAUKEE - Helen A. Hoffman (nee Kapuschat) was born to eternal life Aug. 19, 2000. She was 83.

She was the beloved wife of the late Charles; dearest mother of James (Barbara) Hoffman; grandmother of Carolynne, Andrea and Andrew; and sister-in-law of Alfred (Anita) Hoffman and the late Lloyd (Anne) Hoffman. She was preceded in death by her sister, Ruth. She is further survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 22, at Harder Funeral Home, 18700 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield. Funeral services will follow at 7 p.m. Interment will be at Highland Memorial Park.

David M. Majeskie
BROOKFIELD - David M. Majeskie passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, Aug. 17, 2000, at age 42. He was born Aug. 22, 1957.

David is the loving fiance of Shirley; the dear son of Betty J. and the late Larry Majeskie; the brother of Gary (Mary) and Dennis (Donna) Majeskie; and the uncle of Nathan, Cody, Austin, Eric and Nicholas. He is further survived by other relatives and friends.

David was an employee of Wonder Bread-Hostess for 22 years.

Visitation will be held from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. today, Aug. 21, at Queen of Apostles Catholic Church, N35-W23401 W. Capitol Drive. Memorial services will follow at 7 p.m. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park.
