EAST TROY - Stella C. Smith (nee Janiuk) was born to eternal life Dec. 2, 2000. She was 88.

She was the dear mother of Janet (Daniel) Wargolet (formerly Brzezinski) and Susan (Lynn) Ostrander; loving grandmother of Patricia Simmers of Colo., Sharon (Martin) Grunfelder, Loretta (Charles) Bower, Bonnie (Mike) Zangl, Kathy (Scott) Bowers, Randy (Roxanne) Ostrander and Rick (Kris) Ostrander. She is also survived by 11 great-grandchildren; a sister, Irene Janiuk; sister-in-law Dorothy Janiuk; nieces and nephews; other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Steve, Frank and Stanley.

A memorial Mass will be held at 1 p.m. Friday, Dec. 8, at Mary Queen of Heaven Catholic Church, 2360 S. 106th St. Visitation will be held at the church from 12:30 p.m. until the time of Mass. Entombment will be at Wisconsin Memorial Park. The family would like to give a special thank you to the staff at Waukesha Memorial Hospital and Kiwanis Manor.

Richard Charles Bakkom
CEDAR GROVE - Richard Charles Bakkom of Cedar Grove passed from this world on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000. Dick was born on Feb. 13, 1924, to Irma and Einar Bakkom in Zenda.

Dick was raised on his family’s farms in southern Wisconsin and northern Illinois. He graduated from Hebron High School in 1942. After attending the University of Illinois for a short time, he enlisted in the Army and served with the Charlie Battery of the 666th Field Artillery Battalion. With the 666th, he served in the Battle of the Bulge, was in combat with his unit throughout the European Theater and was in the occupational forces following the end of the war. Following service to his country, he attended Carroll College in Waukesha, was a member of the Beta Pi Upsilon fraternity and graduated with a bachelor of science degree in business administration.

Dick began his career with International Harvester in 1948. On Feb. 2, 1950, he married Sally Ann Armitage of Waukesha. Dick and his family lived in various locations in the East and Midwest during his 35-year career with International Harvester. Dick retired as world-wide marketing manager of the Scout line of trucks within International Harvester’s Motor Truck Division. Always active and sharing his talents, retirement was no exception. Dick has served in various capacities on the Town of Holland Planning Borad, the Cedar Grove School Board, the Cedar Grove United Fund, the East Holland Citizens League and Lake Shore Association. In addition, Dick’s hobbies included the design and construction of custom furniture.

Dick’s life is celebrated by his wife, Sally Bakkom of Cedar Grove; his son, David Bakkom of Ashland, Ore.; his daughter, Susan Thompson and her husband, Scott, and children Emily and Kirstin of Waukesha; and his sisters, Dorothy Wingerter of Aumsville, Ore., and Nancy McKnight of Turner, Ore.

For anyone wishing to make a memorial donation, the family suggests the Cedar Grove United Fund in Wisconsin.

Darlene M. DeMarsh
WAUKESHA - Darlene M. DeMarsh, 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Darlene was born in Milwaukee on Feb. 14, 1942, the daughter of Gilbert and Mildred Ponik. She was an active member of St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church since 1971 and a member of the Christian Women. She was also a student in theological studies at Cardinal Stritch College .

Darlene will be sadly missed by her husband, Robert DeMarsh, whom she married Sept. 7, 1963. She is the loving mother of Linda (Matthew) Zilles of Waukesha, Debbie (Tim) Bisswurm of Bloomington, Minn., and Chris (Kim) DeMarsh of Sullivan. She is the dear sister of Mary (Terry) Stryjewski of Broadhead, Thomas (Anita) Ponik of Mercer and Michael (Kathy) Ponik of Beaver Dam; and dear grandmother of Jarod, Madeline and Jacob. She is further survived by aunts, uncles, many nieces and nephews, cousins and loving friends.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Anthony on the Lake Catholic Church, W280-N2101 Prospect Ave., Pewaukee; the Rev. Tom Venne officiating. The visitation for Darlene will be held from 3 p.m. until 6 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd., Waukesha, and Monday at the church from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the Mass. The parish vigil will be held at 5:30 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home. Burial will be at St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery in Waukesha.

Charles H. Hayen
EAGLE - Charles H. Hayen, 98, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at Kiwanis Manor Health Care in East Troy. He was born in Milwaukee on Oct. 9, 1902, to Albert and Anna Hayan.

He had been a farmer in the Eagle area and a member of St. Theresa’s Catholic Church. He is survived by four nieces and four nephews. He is preceded in death by one brother, Rudolph Scharinger, and one sister, Annie Hill.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be said at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Theresa’s Catholic Church in Eagle. The Rev. Michael Krejci will officiate. Visitation will be held from 2 p.m. until the time of the Mass at the church Saturday. Burial will be in St. Theresa’s cemetery.

Helen E. Price
WAUKESHA - Helen E. Price, born in Waukesha on Aug. 9, 1928, the daughter of August and Rose (nee Buchta) Sobrofski, died Tuesday, Dec. 5, 2000, at age 72. She was a lifetime resident of Waukesha. She was a member of the Waukesha Women Bowler Association, member of the 600 Club, an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers and had season tickets for years. She enjoyed all sports: golfing, bowling, swimming, etc. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jerry; and her brothers, Mathew, Charles and William Sobrofski.

She will be sadly missed by her sisters, Rose Sobrofski and Catherine Adler; her brother, Andy; her brother-in-law, George Adler; her niece, Mary Beth Weber; her nephew, James (Pat) Sobrofski; her great nephews, Mathew, Brian and David Sobrofski and Justin and Jeffrey Weber; and her great niece, Bethany Weber. She will also be missed by other relatives and friends.

The Mass of Christian Burial for Helen will be held at 3 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 9, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, 225 S. Hartwell, Waukesha. The Rev. Brian Mason will officiate. Friends may call at the church Saturday from 1 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Joseph’s Catholic cemetery; please meet at the cemetery.

Raymond W. Raduechel
EAGLE - Raymond W. Raduechel, 80, of Elkhorn Road, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at LindenGrove Health Care Center in Mukwonago. He was born in Milwaukee on April 28, 1920, to Albert and Minnie (Knuth) Raduechel.

Ray is retired from Hein Warner in Waukesha after working there for 42 years. He was a veteran of the Uniteed States Army and served in World War II. He was a member of the Sergeant Splechter-Schmidt American Legion Post 535 in Eagle.

He is survived by his children, Jacalyn (Kurt) Jasinski of Mukwonago, Marianne (Bret) Clark of Eagle, Mark of Eagle and Patricia Murray of Eagle; three brothers, Roy (Gladys) Raduechel of Eagle, Ralph (Elaine) Raduechel of Eagle and Robert (Marguritte) Raduechel of Waukesha; four sisters, Ruth Cross of Waukesha, Helen (Harold) Springer of Waukesha, Dorothy Diehl of Waukesha and Beatrice Eggleston of Mukwonago; and six grandchildren, Amy, Chad, Jamie, Michael, Shannon and Jessica. He is preceded in death by his wife, Florence.

Funeral services will be held at 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at Mealy’s Funeral Home, 103 Eagle St., Eagle. Visitation will be held on Sunday from 4 p.m. until the time of the services at the funeral home. Burial with military honors will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. Theresa’s cemetery; please meet at the cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the World War II Memorial Fund are appreciated.

Violet R. Bousman
COLUMBIA FALLS, Mont. - Violet R. Bousman, 86, of Columbia Falls, Mont., died Monday, Dec. 4, 2000, after a long illness.

She was born in Waukesha, graduated from Waukesha High School and was employed for many years at Haverstick-Croy Insurance Agency in Waukesha.

She and her husband, John, who preceded her in death, moved to Montana about 25 years ago where they enjoyed hunting, fishing and trips to the mountains. She was previously married to Mike Zoler, who for many years ran a sweet shop and restaurant at 215 South St. in Waukesha.

She is survived by her children, John (Donna) Schroeder of Waukesha and Ann (Lane) LePera of Incline Village, Nev.; and her stepsons, John (Mary) Bousman of Waukesha and Jim (Kathy) Bousman of Burlington.

Darlene M. DeMarsh
WAUKESHA - Darlene M. DeMarsh, 58, died Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2000, at home after a courageous battle with cancer.

Dorothy Francis (nee Jurkiewicz) Nemec
WAUKESHA - Dorothy Francis (nee Jurkiewicz) Nemec, 82, found peace with the Lord on Sunday, Dec. 3, 2000, at The Waters of Westmoreland. She was a member of St. William’s Catholic Church Christian Mothers in Waukesha, the "Jolly Crest Club" in Milwaukee and the Thursday morning senior bowling league at Holiday Lanes in Milwaukee. Dorothy was a former employee of Walgreens on Main Street in Waukesha and a resident of Summit Woods.

Dorothy is the beloved mother of Garrett (Carole) of Waller, Texas, and Doreen (Lee) Kluge of Menomonee Falls; the dear sister of Lorraine Tamms of Brookfield; and loving grandmother of Brandon Nemec and Shanda and Matthew Kluge. She is further survived by cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

The Mass of Christian burial will be held at 7 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at St. William’s Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd. The Rev. Leonard Barbian will officiate. Friends and relatives may call from 5 p.m. Monday until the time of the Mass at 7 p.m. at the church. Burial will be at the Holy Trinity cemetery in Milwaukee.

In lieu of flowers, Masses are appreciated and memorials to St. William’s Catholic Church (Building Project), The Waters of Westmoreland or The American Cancer Society are also appreciated.

Jeanette L. Rees
DOUSMAN - Dousman resident Jeanette L. Rees died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was 90.

She was born Aug. 31, 1910, in Waukesha to Michael and Emma (nee Uschler) Zick. On July 11, 1931, she married Thomas "Bud" Rees in Waukesha. She was a lifelong member of First Presbyterian Church where she served on the sessions board. She was a former member of Ina J. Reid Chapter 55 O.E.S., the Waukesha Practical Club, former president of the YWCA board and former member of the Waukesha Women’s Club.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Barbara (John) Hamner of Denver and Joanne (Charles) Altman of Wausau. She was the dear grandmother of Rees Hamner, Ann (Chris) Keffalos, Amy (John) Rauman and Katy (Jeremiah) Kidd. She was also the proud great-grandmother of Aspen, Hunter, Mason, Tate and Seth; and the beloved sister of Eleanor Rose of Waukesha and Francis Bischel of Dousman. She is further survived by other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Thomas, on Jan. 12; brothers, Edward, Matthew and Sherburn; and sister, Lucille.

The family will receive friends from noon until the memorial service at 1 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 10, at First Presbyterian Church, 810 N. East Ave. Waukesha. The Rev. Don Clarke will officiate. Burial of the cremated remains will take place at a later date at Prairie Home cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials are appreciate to the Wisconsin Masonic Home-Scholarship Fund, 410 N. Joyce L. Sturgeon
WAUKESHA - Resident Joyce L. Sturgeon, 78, of Waukesha, died Thursday, Dec. 7, 2000, at Woodland Health Care Center. She was born Dec. 11, 1921, in Eagle to Delbert and Grace (nee Britton) Stubbs. On Dec. 15, 1945, she married Robert J. Sturgeon in Eagle. She worked as a licensed practical nurse at Waukesha Memorial Hospital for 35 years, retiring in 1982.

She is survived by her son, Richard "Rick" (Laurie) Sturgeon of Waukesha; her nephews, Delbert (Jan) Stubbs, Bill Stubbs, Charlie Stubbs and Gordon (Kim) Stubbs and their son, Mike; her nieces, Colleen (Bill) Akin and their son, Steve, and Paula Purdy and her children, Crystal and Jeff. Other nieces, nephews, relatives and friends further survive. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert, on Jan. 18, 1995, and her brothers, Laurel and Milo.

Visitation will begin at 4 p.m. Monday, Dec. 11, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., with services there at 8 p.m. The Rev. Dwain Olson will officiate. Following the services, the body will be cremated with interment of cremated remains at Wisconsin Memorial Park, Brookfield. Memorials to the family would be appreciated. Lucille I. Bliesner
WAUWATOSA - Lucille I. Bliesner (nee Gygax) of Wauwatosa died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Alvin. She was the beloved mother of Heidi (Robert) Manak, Kent (Desa) and Brian (Mary). She is lovingly survived by four granddaughters, Melissa Bliesner, Colleen and Valerie Manak and Emily Bliesner. She was the dear sister of Doris Kausch and Donald Gygax.

Private family services were held. Memorials to the Wisconsin Humane Society or the humane society of your choice, if so desired.

Blanche H. Dahinden
WAUKESHA - Blanche H. Dahinden, 90, of Waukesha, formerly of Milwaukee, was born to eternal life Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Care-Age of Brookfield.

Blanche was a former resident of Oak Hill Village. She was a member of St. John Neumann Catholic Church in Waukesha. Blanche was a graduate of Downer College in Milwaukee and was the executive secretary of the International Association of Insurance Counsel. Blanche loved animals and was an avid supporter of many animal protection societies. In 1998, she was the proud winner of the corporate spelling bee sponsored by the Literacy Council of Greater Waukesha.

Blanche is lovingly survived by two close friends, John B. McKinstry and Donna A. Carpenter. Blanche was loved and respected by many other friends and business associates.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 Highway 59 in Waukesha. The Rev. Glen Graczyk will officiate. Burial will follow at Calvary cemetery in Milwaukee. Friends may call Wednesday from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at the church.

If desired, memorials in Blanche’s name may be made to the Humane Animal Welfare Society.

Eli Thew Jr.
WAUKESHA - Eli Thew Jr. of Waukesha died Friday, Dec. 8, 2000, at Linden Grove Health Care Center in New Berlin at age 70. He was born March 12, 1930, in Waukesha, to Eli E. Sr. and Harriet (nee Tuyls) Thew.

He will be missed by his brother, Karl (Nancy) Thew of Waukesha, and his sister, Genevieve (Jerome) Nader of Wiley Lake, S.C. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his sister and brother-in-law, Deloris (Allen) Wrighton.

Friends may call from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 12, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Prairie Home cemetery at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 13; meet at the cemetery. The Rev. Frank Gaylord will officiate.

Elizabeth R. Williams
TOWN OF DELAFIELD - Elizabeth R. Williams of the town of Delafield died Saturday, Dec. 9, 2000, at her home at age 88. She was born Dec. 13, 1911, in Cambria to John and Annie (nee Jones) Roberts. On. Nov. 13, 1948, she married M. Edward Williams at the First United Methodist Church in Waukesha.

Mrs. Williams was a member of the First United Methodist Church since 1926, charter member of the St. David’s Society, member of the Welsh Women’s Club, Golden Lazers 1982 secretary, former Zion 4-H leader and Zions Parent Teacher Association’s Mother of the Year.

She will be sadly missed by her husband, M. Edward Williams, and their children, Gladys (Dick) Huenink of Waukesha, Ralph Williams of Elkhorn, Ruth (Glenn) Bogdonoff of Alexandria, Va., Eleanor (Scott) Miller of Dousman, Alice (Joe) Whitmore of North Prairie and Allen (Karen) Williams of Watertown; grandchildren, John, Heather, William, Andy, Miles, Melody, Bryn, Emma, Kimberly, Kristy and Katryna; and great-granddaughter, Meg. She is further survived by brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Rowland Roberts, and her sister, Margaret Maynard.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to the 7 p.m. funeral service Wednesday, Dec. 13, at the First United Methodist Church, 121 Wisconsin Ave.; the Rev. Frank Gaylord officiating. Graveside services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 14, at Tabernacle cemetery in the town of Delafield; meet at the cemetery.

Memorials are appreciated to ProHealth Home Care Rolland D. Nelson Crossroads Hospice, 1020 James Drive, Hartland, WI 53029, United Methodist Church or Welsh Women’s Club Music Scholarship Fund.

Joan M. ‘Sue’ Bouley
PEWAUKEE - Joan M. "Sue" Bouley, 71, passed away Dec. 11, 2000. She was the dear mother of Lynn (Coleen) and Ron, grandmother of Matthew, Josh and Josiah, sister of Janis Sieh and sister-in-law of Peggy Shoemaker.

She was preceded in death by her brother, Don, and daughter-in-law, Sue.

A memorial service will be held at 4 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, at Zion Evangelical Lutheran Church, W188-N4868 Emerald Hills Drive, Menomonee Falls. Visitation will be held at the church from 2 p.m until the time of the service.
