Sarah Anne Friend
OCONOMOWOC - Sarah Anne Friend, formerly of Pine Lake, passed away Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Oconomowoc Memorial Hospital. She was 72.

Sarah, or Sally as she was affectionately called, grew up on Pine Lake, the beloved daughter of the late Robert Elias and Neita Oviatt Friend. She was the beloved mother of Christine Costigan Schutt of New York City and Kelly Costigan Smith of Rowayton, Conn.; the beloved grandmother of four grandchildren, Nicholas and Will Schutt and Jamie and Abigail Smith. She was also the beloved sister of Carl O. Friend of Milwaukee, the late John M. Friend, Edward S. Friend of Hubertus and Roberta Friend Downey of San Rafael, Calif. She is further survived and much loved by numerous cousins, nieces, nephews and their families.

A memorial service and interment will be held at a future date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you remember her in your prayers and that contributions be made to The American Cytation Society or The Sierra Club.

Walter D. Isaacsen
PALMYRA - Walter D. Isaacsen, 85, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Fort Atkinson Memorial Health Services. He was born May 3, 1915, in West Allis, to Isaac and Anna (Ericksen) Isaacsen.

He is a retired maintenance worker from the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater and had operated the Isaacsen Bros. Trucking in Palmyra. He was a member of the Palmyra United Methodist Church.

He is survived by his children, Janice (James) Northey of Dousman, Judy (Wayne) Pinnow of Rome, Darlene (Harry) Garlock of Palmyra, Shirley (Harold) Witkins of Hayward, Jean Isaacsen of San Antonio, Jim (Sonja) Isaacsen of Palmyra, Patty Goudreau of Palmyra and Peggy (Russell) Schroedl of Fort Atkinson. He is further survived by 22 grandchildren, 31 great-grandchildren and one great-great-grandchild. He is also survived by two daughters-in-law, Mary and Caroline; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his first wife, Meta; his second wife, Bernice; two sons, David and Kenneth; a brother; and two sisters.

Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Palmyra United Methodist Church with the Rev. Jerry Lipka officiating. Visitation will take place from noon until the time of service Saturday at the church. Burial will be at Hillside cemetery in Palmyra.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Palmyra United Methodist Church or a charity of the donor’s choice are appreciated.

Gilbert H. Lund
NORTH LAKE - Gilbert H. Lund of North Lake was born to eternal life Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at age 94.

He was an active member of the Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, the Kettle Moraine Two-Cylinder Club, the Sussex Antique Tractor Club and the Modern Woodman of America. Gilbert was a valuable player in the Kettle Moraine dartball league and was retired from the Bank of North Lake, where he served as custodian for 50 years.

Survivors include his children, Donald (Karla) Lund of Hartland, Larry (Kathleen) Lund of Hartland, Allan (Diane) Lund of Watertown and David (Judy) Lund of Charleston, S.C.; 15 grandchildren; and 17 great-grandchildren. He is further survived by his brother, Woodrow Lund of Oconomowoc; his sisters, Vera (Sylvester) Steele of Merton and Ella Mae Clausen of Hartland; other relatives and many close friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Irene, and his sisters, Ina and Viola.

Funeral services will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Kettle Moraine United Presbyterian Church, N66-W32690 Highway K in Hartland. Friends may call at the church from 4 p.m. until the time of the service Wednesday. Burial will be at Stone Bank Presbyterian cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church or the Kettle Moraine Two-Cylinder Club appreciated.

Doris Pluess
EAST TROY - Doris Pluess, 75, of East Troy, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000, at Kiwanis Manor.

Doris was born May 28, 1925, the daughter of Carol and LaVerne (Williams) Deakin, in Cambria, where she received her education. On Oct. 21, 1948, she married Kenneth in Pardeeville. He preceded her in death in 1996.

Doris was a lifetime resident of East Troy, where she was a homemaker. She was a member of the American Legion Auxillary, past member of East Troy Lioness, lifetime member of the Good Sam Club and a registered nurse. She attended St. Peter’s Catholic Church in East Troy.

Doris is survived by her sons, Bill of Greenfield, Norman (Diane), Don (Sherry) and Dale, all of East Troy; a daughter, Linda Burie of East Troy; 19 grandchildren; one great-grandchild; other relatives and many friends. She is further survived by her brothers and sisters, Marjorie (Merwin) Sommers, Jeanne (Tom) Moulton, Morris (Diane) Deakin and George (Virginia) Deakin, all of Cambria.

She was preceded in death by her husband and a sister, Phyllis Deakin.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday at Heritage Funeral Home, 2974 Main St. in East Troy. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday at St. Peter’s Catholic Church with the Rev. Louis Luljak officiating. Burial will follow at St. Peter’s cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to Kiwanis Manor are appreciated.

Orville B. ‘Andy’ Anderson
WAUKESHA - Orville B. "Andy" Anderson, 70, of Waukesha died Monday, Dec. 18, 2000, at Hess Memorial Hospital in Mauston.

He was born Sept. 12, 1930, in Sparta, the son of Bernard and Inga Anderson. Andy was a tool and die maker who worked on airplanes at Fort Sheridan and the Glenview Naval Air Station. He retired in 1996. He received commendations from the military for his work. He loved his work, the military, playing cards and his friends. Andy was a kind person and fun-loving. He is preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Beatrice Shea.

Andy will be sadly missed by his wife, Helen, (nee Wolever) whom he married 37 years ago at St. John’s Lutheran Church in Wheeling, Ill.; children, Debbie (Michael) Huth of Mundalein, Ill., Eugene (Jill) Anderson of Spring Valley, Michael (Mary) Anderson of Lake Villa, Ill., and Patrick Anderson of Waukesha; eight grandchildren; a brother, Norman Anderson of Sparta; sisters, Berdine Robinson of Neenah and Jane Flammang of California; a niece, Dawn (James) Shander of Waukesha; grandniece and grandnephews, Steven, Scott and Christine Shander of Waukesha; other relatives and friends.

The funeral service for Orville will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 23, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. The Rev. William McBride of Gethsemane United Methodist Church in Pewaukee will officiate. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today and from 9 a.m. until the time of the 11 a.m. service Saturday. Burial at Prairie Home cemetery will immediately follow the Saturday service.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Orville’s name may be directed to the Waukesha Memorial Hospital cardiac care unit.

Mary Lynn Gilliland Keenan
KERRVILLE, Texas - Mary Lynn Gilliland Keenan, known to many as "Mickey," died at her Kerrville residence Saturday, Dec. 2, 2000, at age 76. Mickey was born Nov. 22, 1924, to V. Rawlins and Edna Coker Gilliland of Coleman, Texas, both now deceased. She lived most of her adult life in Waukesha before accomplishing her longtime goal of returning to Texas for retirement.

Mickey was an enthusiastic poet, artist and an avid animal lover. She served as a member of the Human Services Board of Waukesha County and was also the vice chair of the Sesquicentennial Committee of the city of Waukesha. Prior to enjoying a career as a real estate broker and member of the Waukesha County Board of Realtors, Mickey spent many years as an executive secretary to cheif executive officers of area businesses and to the presidents of Carroll College in Waukesha.

Mickey was the beloved wife of Paul Keenan and cherished mother of Carolyn (Tony) Kaboord, Kathy Keenan and Paula (Fred) Jones. She is further survived by her loving granddaughters, Katie, Elizabeth and Annie, as well as by many friends and family members.

A memorial service for Mickey will be held at 6 p.m. today at Brookfield Congregational Church, 16350 Gebhardt Road, Brookfield, with Dr. Rich Wolf officiating. A reception will follow at the church. Interment will be private.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions in Mary’s name can be made to M.D. Anderson Cancer Center, 1515 Holcombe Blvd., Houston, Texas 77030-9962, or to the Elmbrook Humane Society, 21230 Enterprise Ave., Brookfield, WI 53005.

Evelyn M. Yatzeck
WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Evelyn M. Yatzeck, 92, died Tuesday, Dec. 19, 2000. She was born Dec. 14, 1908, to William and Augusta Yatzeck. She was a 1925 graduate of Waukesha High School and immediately began a long, successful career as trusted friend and legal secretary to notable Waukesha attorneys Harvey Frame of Frame & Blackstone and Richard Hunter of Hunter & Sommers. From 1960 to 1975, Evelyn and her brother, Dan, owned and operated Genesee Hardware and Building Supply Store in Genesee Depot. Miss Yatzeck loved the color blue, birds, the home she was raised in and visits and letters from family. She will be remembered as a devoted sister, aunt and friend.

She is survived by nephews and nieces, John (Terri) Yatzeck of Genesee, James (Diane) Yatzeck of North Prairie, Richard (Diane) Yatzeck of Bear Creek, Ralph (Christine) Yatzeck Jr. of Port Orchard, Wash., David Yatzeck of Waukesha, Vicki (Robert) Pihringer of Waukesha, Lynn Yatzeck of Washington, Mo., Steven Blood of Bloomington, Minn., Sandra (Robert) Wertschnig of Brookfield, Billie Spring of Oak Creek and Sally Normington of Reno, Nev.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by eight brothers and sisters, Arthur, Alvin, Edward, Ralph, LaVerne, Irene, Ethel and Daniel.

Private graveside services will be held.

Wesley P. Carroll
SHAWANO - Wesley P. Carroll, age 75, of Gresham, formerly of Waukesha, passed away Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, in Shawano. He is survived by one son, James Carroll, of Waukesha; one sister, Marion (Les) Fuller, of Cassville; three brothers, Warren Carroll of Port Washington, and James Carroll and Willard Carroll, both of Gresham.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, 2000, at the Swedberg Funeral Home of Shawano. Graveside services will be held at 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 28, at St. Joseph cemetery in Waukesha. Friends may call on Wednesday, Dec. 27, at the Swedberg Funeral Home of Shawano from 11 a.m. until the time of services.

Harry F. Cruver
FALLS CHURCH, Va. - United States Air Force Retired Col. Harry F. Cruver, 83, of Falls Church, Va., died Saturday, Feb. 12, 2000.

He was the beloved husband of the late Frances A. Cruver, loving father of Mark F. Cruver, Philip C. Cruver and his wife, Sharon, and Nancy A. Roylance and her husband, Dave; grandfather of Robin Roylance, Spencer Roylance and his wife, Michelle, and Lindsay and Wesley Cruver; and brother of Myron Cruver of Menomonee Falls, Bette Munger of Walworth and the late Harriet Cruver of Waukesha.

The Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated at St. Anthony’s Catholic Church in Falls Church. Interment with full military honors took place at Arlington National cemetery on Friday, Feb. 25, 2000.

Memorial contributions in Harry’s name may be made to Hospice of Northern Virginia, P.O. Box 1576, Merrifield, VA 22116-1576.

Frank Lueck
MILWAUKEE - Frank Lueck died peacefully Thursday, Dec. 14, 2000, at age 81.

He was the beloved son of the late Viola and Frank Lueck; beloved husband of the late Evelyn; loving father of Thomas (Sharon) Gleason and Alice (Robert) Gajewski; caring grandpa of Tom Jr. (Lou Ann) Gleason, Shari (Jeff) Higgins, Howard (Susan) Gleason, DeDe, Tina and John Flynn; proud great-grandfather of his "Big Boy," Anthony Gleason, Jessica Severson, Meghan, Sarah and Olivia Gleason; and dear brother of the late Alvin Lueck and Gladys Kovalaske. He is also survived by "my buddies," Jimmy and Pat (8) Halamka, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Visitation was held Tuesday, Dec. 19, at the Becker Ritter Funeral Home, 14075 W. North Ave., Brookfield. Funeral services were held at the funeral home Wednesday, Dec. 20, followed by committal services at Highland Memorial Park.

Ruth E. Wileden
BROOKFIELD - Ruth E. Wileden, 98, a longtime resident of Sussex, died Wednesday, Dec. 20, 2000, at Care-Age of Brookfield. She was born Jan. 30, 1902, on a farm in Waukesha County, to the late Horace and Nellie (Schaaf) Wileden.

Ruth was an innovative organic gardener, baker and proponent of natural foods. She was a member of the Wisconsin Chapter of The Natural Foods Association and at one time operated her organic business, The Garden Spot, from her home on Maple Avenue. She remained a wonderful and spirited person all her life.

She is survived by a niece, Mary (Bob) Binning of Fond du Lac, a nephew, John (Donna) Wileden of Madison, and their families. Ruth was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, Arthur (Harriet) Wileden and George Wileden.

The family wishes to thank Ron and Pat Nettesheim and their family, and Bob and Win Couchman and their family for their longtime support and friendship to Ruth.

A memorial service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27 at Elmbrook Church, 777 S. Barker Road, town of Brookfield. The Rev. Mel Lawrenz will officiate. Memorials may be directed to the Mission Program of Elmbrook Church.

Lydia Buchanan
WAUKESHA - Lydia Buchanan (nee Svitavsky), 89, of Muskego, died Friday, Dec. 22, 2000, at Virginia Health and Rehabilitation Center. She was born in Racine on Feb. 13, 1911, to Vincent and Maimi (nee Ruzicka) Svitavasky.

She will be sadly missed by her daughter, Betty (Richard) Cultice of Waukesha; her grandson, Richard (Cheryl) Cultice Jr. and her great-grandson, Ehren Cultice, all of Waukesha. She is further survived by two sisters and two brothers, Marie Wallat and Georgia Soens, both of Racine, Charles (Emily) Svitavsky of Racine and Theodore (Eldeen) Svitavsky of Presque Isle; two sisters-in-law, Joyce Woodrow and Betty Svitavsky; and other relatives and friends.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by her husband, Archie Buchanan, in 1942, and by her brothers, Vincent Svitavsky, Leo Svitavsky and Thomas Woodrow.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Bernice I. Lenhardt
WAUKESHA - Bernice I. Lenhardt, 76, of Waukesha, died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Waukesha on July 20, 1924, to Earl and Alma (nee Weber) Stacy. On September 27, 1947, she married Donald Lenhardt, who preceded her in death June 5, 2000.

Bernice won many state and national medals for baton twirling. She marched in many parades and was one of the first to achieve twirling two batons. Later, she taught students the art of baton twirling at Nola Jean Majors Studios in Waukesha and had recitals. She will always be remembered as a loving wife, mother, and a grandmother who loved her grandchildren very much.

She will be sadly missed by her three children, Susan (Henry) Ojeda of Waukesha, Dennis P. Lenhardt of Dousman and David A. Lenhardt of Scottsdale, Ariz.; three grandchildren, Sarah Lenhardt, Matthew Ojeda and Andrew Ojeda, all of Waukesha; and special cousin and friend, Emelie Calvano of Waukesha. She is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends.

Friends may call from 9 a.m. until the time of the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 27, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha. Burial will follow at Prairie Home cemetery.

The family would like to thank the Waukesha Memorial Hospital fifth floor staff, the staff at River Hills West, and close friends and family for their support during these times.

Memorials to the Waukesha Humane Animal Welfare Society (H.A.W.S.) are appreciated.

William H. Lutgen ‘Mr. Bill’

WAUKESHA - William H. Lutgen, "Mr. Bill," 84, of Waukesha died Thursday, Dec. 21, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born Nov. 19, 1916, in Pewaukee, the eldest son of Louis and Edna (nee Hoyt) Lutgen. On Dec. 27, 1941, he married the former Dorothy Gregersen in Wauwatosa.

William was an electrician by trade, but loved volunteer work: the Boy Scouts, church, R.S.V.P., Salvation Army and the Department of Aging all knew his willing nature. Many school children will remember him as a crossing guard, a job that he took very seriously. He spend four years in military service during World War II, was a member of the Waukesha Church of the Nazarene, and worked with his wife for 19 months as house parents at the Florida Sheriffs Boys Ranch.

He will be sadly missed by his wife of 59 years, Dorothy, and their children, William D. (Jane) Lutgen of LaFayette, Ind., and Lorelynne (Philipp) Nelesen of Sheboygan; his grandchildren, Greg (Kathy) Lutgen of Kokomo, Ind., Jeff Lutgen of West LaFayette, Ind., the Rev. Marc (Tracy) Nelesen of Zeeland, Mich., and Robert Nelesen of Grand Rapids, Mich.; and twin great-grandchildren, Levi and Mariah Nelesen of Zeeland. He is further survived by his sister-in-law, Doris Lutgen of Pewaukee, other relatives and many friends. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Lewis.

Complete funeral services will be conducted at 7 p.m. today at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Friends may call today at the funeral home from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. service. Mr. Lutgen’s grandson, the Rev. Marc Nelesen, is officiating. Burial will be in Wauwatosa cemetery.

Memorials to the Salvation Army or the Waukesha Heart Institute are appreciated.
