WAUKESHA - Pietra Mistretta, age 90, died peacefully Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

She was born in Porticella, Italy on Feb. 6, 1910, to Domenico and Angela (nee Marcuiro) Sanfilippo.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Visitation continues on Saturday from 10 a.m. until the 11 a.m. funeral Mass at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 Highway 59, Waukesha. Interment will take place following the Mass at St. Joseph cemetery.

The Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 547-4035, is serving the family.

Dr. Warren G. Smirl
WAUKESHA - Lifelong Waukesha resident Dr. Warren G. Smirl died Saturday, Nov. 11, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 79.

He was born Jan. 10, 1921, in Waukesha, the son of Gerald and Julie (nee Newman) Smirl. Dr. Smirl was a graduate of Carroll College and a graduate of Columbia University Medical School. He was a member of St. Matthias Episcopal Church in Waukesha, the Milwaukee Academy of Medicine Library Board and the Royal Academy of Medicine.

He is the beloved husband of Jean (nee Eales), whom he married in May 1954; the dear father of Ned (Beth) Smirl of Oconomowoc, Dr. Todd Smirl of Boston, Holly (John) Wirth of Cedarburg, Terry (Tuanh) Smirl of Milwaukee and Jeffrey Smirl of Waukesha; and the dear grandfather of Sarah, Christopher, Perry and Bennett. Also surviving are his two brothers, Quentin (Dorothy) Smirl of the town of Brookfield and William (Karen) Smirl of Corona Del Mar, Calif. He was preceded in death by his parents, Gerald and Julia Smirl.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at St. Matthias Episcopal Church, 111 E. Main St. The Rev. Dr. Douglas Sparks will officiate. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 16, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 237 N. Moreland Blvd. Interment will be at Prairie Home cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials would be appreciated to either St. Matthias Episcopal Church or the Waukesha Memorial Hospital Foundation.

Helmut J. Bolk
WAUKESHA - Helmut J. Bolk, 82, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at his home in Waukesha. He was born in Germany on Nov. 9, 1918, to Karl and Maria Bolk. On May 25, 1943, he married Hildegard Bolk in Germany; she preceded him in death in 1990. He was a printer while living in Germany and continued his printing tradition after moving to Waukesha, owning his printing company here.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Gisela (Bernhart) Thomaschek of Waukesha and Helmut Jr. (Sue) Bolk of Delafield; four grandchildren, Steve (Nancy) Thomaschek, Sandy (David) Stepanski, Bryan Bolk and Tami Bolk; six great-grandchildren, Alex, Kassie, Sarina, Angela, Kara and Scott; his sister, Kaehte Riedel of Germany; and his brother, Erich Bolk of Germany. He will be missed by his special friend, Erika Kappes of Waukesha, and other relatives and friends.

Friends may call from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral service at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Burial will follow at Prairie Home cemetery in Waukesha.

Susan D. Borlen
WAUKESHA - Longtime Waukesha resident, Susan D. Borlen, died Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at LindenGrove Health Care Center in Waukesha at the age of 95. She was born in Hartford on Aug. 12, 1905, the daughter of Bruno and Rosalie (nee Mahlberg) Wenninger.

Mrs. Borlen was a charter member of St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Waukesha, the St. Mary’s Seniors and St. Mary’s Christian Mothers. She was also a member of the Waukesha Serra Club, the K.C. Auxiliary and the Catholic Study Club. She was the first secretary of Catholic Memorial High School Home and School Association, a 50-year member of the Catholic Knights, and was the last member of the Goerke’s Corners Homemakers Club.

She married Edward D. Borlen on Nov. 25, 1930. Edward died on May 18, 1991. Most of her married life she worked with her husband farming: First, for Arthur Davidson (a founder of Harley-Davidson), and later on their own farm on Racine Avenue.

Mrs. Borlen is the beloved mother of Judith A. Kelliher of Hartford and Robert E. (Barbara) Borlen of Bend, Ore. She is the dear grandmother of Pamela (Mark) Heyde of Wausau, Michael (Terri) Kelliher, James Kelliher, Christopher (Theresa) Kelliher and Daniel (Michele) Kelliher, all of Waukesha, Teresa (Jeff) Wolf of Columbus, Audrae (Ken) Odegaard of Lakeview, Ore., Susan (Lane) Dukart of Ft. Collins, Colo., and Matthew (Jennifer) Borlen also of Bend. She is the great-grandmother of Kristin, Michael, Noah, Allison, Eli, Tori, Brady and Peyton Kelliher, Eden, Amara, Justus and Jonah Wolf, Kurt, Kirsten and Konnor Heyde, Jens, Eli and Nate Odegaard and Haley and Finn Dukart. She is the sister-in-law of Jerome Borlen and Mary Wenninger, both of Hartford. Also surviving are other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward D. Borlen; her parents; and eight brothers and sisters.

Funeral services will be held at noon Thursday, Nov. 16, at St. Mary’s Catholic Church; The Rev. Brian Mason will celebrate Mass. Friends may call on Thursday at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard from 9 a.m. until 11:15 a.m. A procession will begin at the funeral home at 11:15 a.m. Thursday to St. Mary’s Catholic Church for the noon funeral Mass. Interment will be in St. Joseph’s cemetery in Waukesha.

Memorials would be appreciated to either the Waukesha Catholic School System or the Tyme Out Center.

Niles E. DeLano Jr.
WAUKESHA - Longtime Waukesha resident Niles E. DeLano Jr., 68, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. He was born Jan. 23, 1932, to Niles E. Sr. and Mabel (Hunkins) DeLano. Niles was a tool and die maker for Waukesha Motor Works (now Dressler Industries), retiring in 1993 after 42 years. He was a member of the Waukesha Motor Company Olde Timers Club.

He is loved and will be sadly missed by his loving wife of 46 years, Josephine "Jo" DeLano; their five children, Debra L. "Debbie" (Kevin) Craig of Little Prairie, Randy L. (Wendy) DeLano of Eagle, Pam I. (Larry Jr.) Swener of New Berlin, Jeff N. DeLano of the town of Vernon and Lori A. (Pat) Knoebel of Eagle. He is further survived by 10 grandchildren, Joey, Larry, Annette, Jesse, Clayton, Melissa, Shawn, Ryan, Breanna and Brett; three grandchildren, Dylan, Samantha and Autum; and sisters Doris (Charles) Hall of Waukesha and Barbara "Bobbie" (Don) Wher of New Berlin. Nieces, nephews, other relatives and many friends also survive.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service on Monday, Nov. 20, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. The Rev. Mel Henrichs is officiating.

Warren Duddeck
ARLINGTON, Texas - Warren Duddeck of Arlington, Texas, formerly of Waukesha, died Thursday, Nov. 9, 2000, in Arlington at the age of 73. He was a longtime member of the Merrill Hills Country Club. He also served on the board of directors of the Waukesha Training Center. He was a 32nd degree Mason and a Toastmaster. He was preceded in death by his wife, June, in 1997.

He will be sadly missed by his children, Debra (Ken) Agorichas of Arlington and Michael (Linda) Duddeck of Tuscon, Ariz.; his grandsons, Paul and Nick; other relatives and many friends.

A memorial service for Warren will be held at 6 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. Friends may call at the funeral home on Friday from 5 p.m. until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Prairie Home cemetery.

Pietra Mistretta
WAUKESHA - Pietra Mistretta, 90, passed away peacefully on Monday, Nov. 13, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital. She was born in Porticello, Sicily, on Feb. 6, 1910, to Domenico and Angela (nee Marcurio) Sanfilippo. Mrs. Mistretta came to Milwaukee from Sicily in 1958 to be near her daughter. She was a member of the Pompeii Church where she belonged to the Madonna Del Lume Society. For many years she was employed at Forence Eisenman in Milwaukee.

She will be sadly missed by her daughters, Angeline (Dominic) Zizzo of Waukesha and Anna (Jack) Szukalski of Lake Tomahawk. She is further survived by nine grandchildren, Louis Zizzo of Franklin, Rosanne (Vincent) Smith of the town of Waukesha, Thomas Zizzo of Waukesha, Father John Szukalski of Chicago, Louis (Laura) Szukalski of Illinois, Helen (Kurt) Lessner of Lake in the Hills, Ill., Nicola (Margerita) Tarantino, Piera (Giovanni) Gagliardo and Anna (Alfredo) Battaglia, all of Sicily; 12 great-grandchildren, Desire, Kali, Nicholas, Alexander, Sara, Graziella, Alberto, Francesca, Graziella, Filippo, Andrea and Cheyenne. She was preceded in death by her husband, Luigi Mistretta; her daughter, Grazia Tarantino; and by her sisters, Rosalia and Nunzia.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Friday, Nov. 17, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave.; a Rosary will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation continues Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. John Neumann Catholic Church, 2400 W. Highway 59, from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 11 a.m. Celebrating the Mass is her grandson, Father John Szukalski.

Douglas Francis DeGodt
PEWAUKEE - Douglas Francis DeGodt, 75, died Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000, at Heartland Health Care Center in Pewaukee. He was born Nov. 24, 1924, in Green Bay, a son of the late Elmer and Olga (nee Gunderson) DeGodt.

Douglas served in the U.S. Army from April 1943 to January 1946, and had worked for Wisconsin Natural Gas Co. He volunteered at Columbia Hospital in Milwaukee. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Martha Mae DeGodt, on May 5, 1992.

He is survived by his son, Robert (Linda) DeGodt of Waterford; three daughters, Pamela (Dennis) Foss of Wales, Lynn (Henry) Kaltz of Sussex and Patricia (Randy) Kabat of Port Washington; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; a brother, Ralph (Magda) Blish of San Diego; and a sister, Roxanne Schuman of Newport Richey, Fla. He is further survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at The Family Center at Wisconsin Memorial Park in Brookfield. Entombment will follow. Friends may call Monday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of the service at The Family Center.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Alzheimer’s Association of Southeastern Wisconsin are appreciated.

Dorothy A. Huebner
WAUKESHA - Waukesha resident Dorothy A. Huebner, 84, died Tuesday, Nov. 14, 2000, at LindenGrove Health Care Center. She was born Dec. 17, 1915, in Waukesha to William and Amelia (nee Ludke) Hamp. On June 25, 1932, she married Elmer A. Huebner, who preceded her in death in April 1983. Mrs. Huebner loved to play cards and Yahtzee.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Dorothy L. Huebner of Waukesha, Donna (Phil) Gehring of Johnson Creek, Lois Lehmann of West Allis, Kenneth (Judy) Huebner, Robert (Barbara) Huebner and Karen Miller, all of Waukesha, and William (Judy) Huebner of Rome, Wis. She is further survived by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren; her sister, Irene Huebner of Waukesha; her daughter-in-law, Beverly Huebner of Waukesha; her sister-in-law, Rose Hamp of Waukesha; and other relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Raymond Huebner in 1981; her brother, William Hamp; her sisters, Viola Highley and Sophia Panawash; her grandson, Bobby Jr.; and her son-in-law, George Lehmann.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until the 7 p.m. funeral service Sunday, Nov. 19, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave., Waukesha; the Rev. Jim Bickel officiating. Burial will take place at 10 a.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at Pilgrim’s Rest cemetery in Pewaukee; meet at the funeral home at 9:15 a.m.

Roman S. ‘Buzz’ Jozefacki
PEWAUKEE - Roman S. "Buzz" Jozefacki, 57, passed away at his home in Pewaukee on Wednesday, Nov. 15, 2000. He was preceded in death by his son, James "Jamie."

He is the beloved husband of Barbara (nee Meessen); dear father of Jeffrey (Maria) and Mindy Moon; grandfather of Danielle, Isaac and Dylan; great-grandfather of Katrina; and brother of Dawn Duquaine and Sandra Papp. He is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Buzz worked as a service manager for On Course Information Service Inc., and was a member of Crivitz Bow Hunters Club and Wisconsin Bow Hunters. Memorials may be directed to Waukesha Memorial Hospital Cancer Treatment Center.

Visitation will be held after 4 p.m. today, Friday, Nov. 17, at Larsen Bros. New Berlin Chapel, 15250 W. National Ave., with services at 7 p.m. Interment will be held at 10 a.m. Saturday, Nov. 18, at St. Joseph’s cemetery in Waukesha; meet directly at the cemetery.

Remember Buzz as he lived, a strong man who loved his God, his wife, children and grandchildren. An enthusiast for life in general and outdoor pursuits in particular. A Harley rider, creative beyond belief, whether making a knife from a bar of iron or solving an installation problem at work. It was an honor to know him and call him friend.

Sara C. Anderson
JACKSONVILLE, Fla. - Sara C. Anderson (nee Conner), 85, formerly of Pewaukee, died Tuesday, Oct. 2, 2000, in Jacksonville, Fla.

She was the wife of the late Joseph P. Anderson; dear mother of Sally (Robert) Henzl and Katie Anderson; and loving grandmother of Jennifer (Matthew) Henzl-McVey, Ann-Elise Henzl, John Henzl, Sheila Schifano and Monica (Michael) Slate. She is also survived by relatives and friends.

Funeral services were held on Oct. 6, 2000, in Ripley, Miss.

Tom McGregor
WAUKESHA - Tom McGregor of Waukesha, born on Nov. 21, 1930, in Rhinelander, the son of Thomas Jr. and Margaret (nee Rice) McGregor, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, following open heart surgery at Waukesha Memorial Hospital at the age of 69 years.

Tom was co-owner of the Moreland Plaza Pharmacy, Gray Terrace Pharmacy and the Moreland Medical Center Pharmacy. He graduated from the University of Wisconsin School of Pharmacy in Madison with a MBA. He taught pharmacy management at the school for 30 years. He was awarded the Bowl of Hygeia, a University of Wisconsin citation, an American Dental Association citation and the Pharmacy Achievement Award. He served on the Pharmacy Examining Board and the Pharmacy Internship Board. He also authored numerous articles on oral health and independent pharmacy practice. Tom was a past member of the Waukesha School Board and was a Korean War veteran.

Tom is survived by his wife, Elaine; his children, Todd (Vickie) McGregor of St. Paul, Minn., Philip McGregor of Minnetonka, Minn., and Sara (Patrick) Adams, of Rochester, Minn.; his grandchildren, Erica and Lauren McGregor and Aaron and Samuel Adams.

Memorial services for Tom will be held Monday, Nov. 20, 2000, at 2 p.m. at the Elmbrook Church, 777 S. Barker Rd., Brookfield. The Rev. Dick Robinson will officiate. Friends may call Monday at the church from noon until the time of the service at 2 p.m. In lieu of flowers, memorials are suggested to the Missions Ministry at Elmbrook Church, the Prison Fellowship, P.O. Kathryn M. Wall
WAUKESHA - Kathryn M. Wall, of Waukesha, passed away Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at the age of 73. She was born on Jan. 30, 1927, the daughter of the late Richard and Anna (Schmitz) Wiggert. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Walter J. Wall; two brothers, Richard and Edward; and a sister, Marion Wiggert.

Kathryn was the dear mother of Walter (Betty) Wall, Martin Wall, Gregory (Jane) Wall, Ann (Chris) Green, Julie Wall, James (Kathryn) Wall, Michael Wall and Patrick (Lynn) Wall; grandma of James, Martin, Joseph, Caitlin, Sarah, Alexander, Gregory, Erin, Daniel, Patrick, Zachary, Ellen, Tanner, Jacob, Anna and Mitchell; and sister of Bernice Wurzel and Corrine (Stephen) Coughlin. She is also survived by other relatives and friends.

Kathryn worked as a registered nurse at St. Francis Hospital in Milwaukee, retiring in 1974. While living in Ettrick, Wis., Kathryn was a member of American Legion Post #354 Auxiliary and St. Bridget Alter Society. She was also a member of St. Francis School of Nursing Alumni in La Crosse.

Visitation will be held after 9 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 21, at St. Joseph Catholic Church, 822 N. East Ave., Waukesha, with the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Additional services will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Nov. 22, at St. Bridget Catholic Church, 22650 Washington St., Ettrick, Wis., with visitation from 9 a.m. until the time of the Mass. Burial will follow at St. Bridget Parish cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to The Caring Place, 810 N. East Ave., Waukesha, WI 53186.

Leilah A. Young
WAUKESHA - Leilah A. Young, 78, formerly of Mukwonago, died Thursday, Nov. 16, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

She was born April 3, 1922, in Eagle to Marion and Emma (Wood) Young. Leilah and her family had operated a farm in Mukwonago.

Leilah is survived by her brothers, Alvin (Marjorie) Young of Mukwonago and Clifford "Art" Young of Waukesha; her sister-in-law, Ethel Young of Florida; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. She is preceded in death by her brothers, Thomas and George, and her half-sister, Evelyn.

Funeral services will be held at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 20, at the Mealy’s Funeral Home in Eagle, with burial in North Prairie cemetery. Visitation will be held at the funeral home from 12:30 p.m. until the time of the services on Monday.

Memorials to the American Cancer Association are appreciated.
