Sister M. Christine Pauly
MADISON - Sister M. Christine Pauly, Schoenstatt Sister of Mary, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at the age of 72 years. Funeral services are pending at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home, 542-6609.

Beatrice Helen Schuetze
WAUKESHA - Beatrice Helen Schuetze of Waukesha, age 88, died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Woodland Health Care Center in Brookfield. She was born Nov. 2, 1912, in Beaver Dam. On Oct. 2, 1943, she married Arthur Schuetze, who proceeded her death in August 1986. Mrs. Schuetze received her teaching degree from the County Normal School in Manitowoc in 1934. She then taught fourth grade in the Waukesha School District at White Rock, Hawthorne and finally Heyer from where she retired in 1978. She had been a member of the Ina J. Reid, Chapter 55 Order of Eastern Star.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Arthur Schuetze of Richmond, Va., Ann Finley of Thousand Oaks, Calif., and John Schuetze of Waukesha; her grandchildren, Ashley and A.J. Schuetze of Richmond, Lanna and Robert Finley of Thousand Oaks, Kimberly (Peter) Eifferson of Mequon, Heather (Ben) Aqshlomo of Boca Raton, Fla.; many relatives and friends. In addition to her parents and her husband, she was preceded in death by her sister, Ora Grant, in 1995.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 7 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 30, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. Funeral services will begin Friday, Dec. 1, at the funeral home with Eastern Star Services at 9:45 a.m. and then the funeral service at 10 a.m. with the Rev. Don Clarke officiating. Graveside services will be held Friday following the services at Prairie Home cemetery. Memorials in Beatrice’s name are appreciated to the Ina J. Reid, Chapter 55 Order of Eastern Star. Grace N. Bielefeldt
DOUSMAN - Grace N. Bielefeldt, formerly of Dousman, passed away Wednesday, Nov. 29, 2000. Grace was a homemaker and a member of the Kettle Moraine Garden Club and Waukesha County Historical Society.

She is survived by her beloved husband of 69 years, Harlow P. Sr., sons, Harlow Jr. (Sam) of Brookfield and John E. of Rochester; seven grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son, Harland.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Memorials for Grace may be sent to First Presbyterian Church of Ottawa, S37-W35415 Highway D, Dousman, WI 53118.

Robert A. ‘R.A.’ D’Amour
GREENDALE - Robert A. "R.A." D’Amour, 77, died Tuesday, Nov. 28, 2000, at his residence.

Born in Gladstone, Mich., on Aug. 15, 1923, he was the son of the late Elder A. and Marion (Lily) D’Amour.

On Sept. 4, 1948, he married Ruby E. Kolich at St. Joseph’s Catholic Church in Escanaba, Mich.

He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II in both Europe and the Pacific. He graduated from Michigan Tech University with an engineering degree in 1948. In 1948 he joined the Cummins Engine Co. and worked there until joining the Waukesha Motor Co. in Waukesha as a sales engineer. During his time at Waukesha, he held various positions including sales manager, vice president of marketing and sales and eventually became president of the company in 1970. He retired in 1977 to spend time with his family. He was inducted into the Michigan Tech Engineering Hall of Fame in 1998.

He is survived by his wife, Ruby; and eight children, Michael (Nancy) D’Amour and their two daughters, Nicole and Martine, of Racine, Marc (Paula) D’Amour and their two sons, Marc and Matthew, of Madison, John (Pam) D’Amour and their three children, Anne, Jacques and James, of Baraboo, Mary (James) Laux and their two children, Jonothan and Elizabeth, of Oconomowoc, Joan (Dale) Thomas and their three children, Bobby, Laura and Andrea, of Shorewood, Minn., Marty D’Amour of Oconomowoc, Cathy (Steve) Bjeidenes and their daughter, Emma, of Libertyville, Ill., Suzy (Joe) Cataldo and their daughter, Lily, of Glenview, Ill. He is also survived by his sister, Sue (Don) Bonomer of Cleveland; a brother, James D’Amour of Green Bay; brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews and many dear from around the world.

He is preceded in death by his parents and brother, Tom.

Friends may visit after 10 a.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at St. Jerome’s Catholic Church, 211 S. Main St., Oconomowoc. A Mass of Christian burial will be follow at 11 a.m.. There will be a private interment.

Donations in Robert’s memory may be made to the St. Jerome Building Fund.

Mildred H. Hillmer
WAUKESHA - Mildred H. Hillmer (nee Hamann) passed away Saturday, Nov. 25, 2000, at age 90.

She is the wife of the late John F.; loving mother of John W. (Beverly) of Waukesha and Roy W. Hillmer of Parker, Colo.; sister of Lillian Koester of Portland, Ore.; and sister-in-law of Evelyn Hamann of Amery. She is also loved by her eight grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephew, other relatives and friends.

Memorial services for Mildred will be held at 7 p.m. Friday, Dec. 1, at Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church, 1205 S. East Ave., Waukesha, with the Rev. Peter A. Schmidt officiating. A private burial will take place at Prairie Home cemetery in Waukesha.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the Beautiful Savior Lutheran Church Christian Day School would be appreciated.

Sister M. Christine Pauly
MADISON - Sister M. Christine Pauly of Madison died Monday, Nov. 27, 2000, at Schoenstatt Heights at the age of 72.

Sister M. Christine was born April 7, 1928, in Altmannshausen, Germany, to Leonard and Kunigunda (nee Bauer) Pauly as one of seven children. After World War II, she became acquainted with the Schoenstatt Movement and in May 1954, she entered the secular institute of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary. Her life was dedicated to the Mother Thrice Admirable, Queen and Victress of Schoenstatt and her mission from the Schoenstatt Shrine.

Soon after her incorporation into the institute, she volunteered for the foreign missions and in 1956 came to the United States. She completed her education as a registered nurse and worked for a few years in her profession. In 1961, she became the first provincial superior of the Wisconsin Province of the Schoenstatt Sisters of Mary and held this office until 1967. She also served the community as local superior and in other positions. Sister M. Christine fulfilled her duties conscientiously with a great love and concern for others.

Already in her early years in the United States, doctors discovered she had multiple sclerosis. For almost 40 years, she suffered from this illness and went through all the different stages of hope for a cure and a ready "yes, Father" to God’s holy will.

Sister M. Christine is survived by four sisters, Ursula Sinsel, Adelheid Pauly, Maria Fischer and Agnes Ebert; two brothers, Jacob and Kaspar; as well as many nieces, nephews, grand nieces and grand nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents.

Friends may call from 3:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. Sunday, Dec. 3, at Schoenstatt Heights, 5901 Cottage Grove Road, Madison. Holy Mass will be celebrated at 4:30 p.m. and a closing prayer service will be at 7:30 p.m. Sunday.

Friends may also call from 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. Monday, Dec., 4, at the Schoenstatt Provincial House, W284-N404 Cherry Lane, Waukesha. The funeral Mass will be celebrated at 10 a.m. Monday. Interment will be at the Schoenstatt cemetery in the town of Delafield.

Margurita D. Mahalek
PEWAUKEE - Margurita D. Mahalek (nee Patti), of Pewaukee, entered eternal life Friday, Sept. 29, 2000, at the age of 82. She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Albert F. Mahalek.

She is the loving mother of Patti Marie (Jerry) Connolly and Kathleen Ann (Gordon) Harris; proud and loving Nana of Wendy M. Hunley, Jeffrey and Gary Connolly, Christopher Stuht, Gabrielle Tans and Carly Harris; and great-Nana of Amy, Sara, Grace and William Connolly and Emily and Julianna Stuht. She was the dear sister of Santa Maria Busch and Rosalie Gagliano. She is also survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and many dear and special friends.

Marge was an employee of Boston Store for 47 years, a member of the Pewaukee Kiwanis Club, a voter registrar for the Town of Pewaukee, and a proud member of the Madonna Del Lume Society, the Holy Crucifix Society and the Italian Community Center.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the prayer vigil service at 7 p.m. today, Oct. 3, at the Schmidt & Bartelt Guardalabene & Amato Funeral Home, 10121 W. North Ave., Wauwatosa. The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at St. Anthony’s on the Lake, W280-N2101 Hwy. SS, Pewaukee (exit I-94 at the 290 exit); please meet at the church for Mass. A procession to Holy Cross cemetery for committal service and burial will follow the Mass.

If desired, memorials may be directed to Marge’s family.

Mickel, Harold A.
WAUKESHA - Harold J. Mickel, 88, died Tuesday, October 2, 2000, at the Virginia Health Care Facility. Funeral services are pending at the Cesarez, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha, 542-6609.

Fred R. Strehlow
WAUKESHA - Fred R. Strehlow, of the town of Vernon, entered God’s Kingdom on Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at the Waters of Westmoreland in Waukesha at the age of 92.

Fred was born in Milwaukee on Aug. 31, 1908, to Robert and Augusta (nee Tinger) Strehlow. On Feb. 7, 1942, he married Mary T. Kainz in Mukwonago. Fred retired from Kearney & Trecker in West Allis in 1972. He was a World War II Army veteran, serving as a member of the Red Arrow Division, Company G, 127th Infantry, 32nd Division.

Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Mary; two sons, Robert (Kippi) of Dane and Edward (Liz) of Greeley, Colo.; three daughters, Kathleen Grieser of Stratford, Ruth (Ronald) Schilling of Waukesha and Pauline Laumann of Mukwonago; his sister, Evelyn Pruszka of North Branch, Minn.; 12 grandchildren; 14 great-grandchildren and other relatives and friends.

His parents, a grandson, Douglas Grieser, three brothers and one sister preceded him in death.

Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Oct. 4, at the Schmidt & Bartelt - Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St., Mukwonago. The Rev. Robert J. Drutowski will officiate. Burial will follow at Oak Knoll cemetery, Mukwonago. Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. today, Oct.3, at the funeral home.

Margaret H. ‘Margie’ Wagner
BIG BEND - Margaret H. "Margie" Wagner, of Big Bend, died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at the age of 83. She was the beloved wife of the late Victor J.; loving mother of Margaret (Albert) Hochschild, Vicki Jo (Scott) Davenport, Sharyn Lee Wagner and Kathleen (Joe) Gerth; dearest grandma of Stephanie (Chris) Schuler, Jerry Gerth, John (Trish) Davenport, Nancy (Steve) Miller, Patsy (William) Blackman and Michele Bowser; and great-grandma of Jordan, Vicotr, Heather, Dave, William, Samantha, Amanda and Ronald. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

A memorial gathering will be held from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at Max A. Sass & Sons Westwood Chapel, W173-S7629 Westwood Drive, Muskego. A memorial service for Margie will follow at 3 p.m. A Private interment will be held at Wood National cemetery.

Merrill G. Dobbertin
MERTON - Merrill G. Dobbertin, of Merton, died Oct. 2, 2000, at the age of 81.

He is the loving husband of the late Janet; beloved father of Robert (Marsha) of Scottsdale, Ariz., Dennis of Dousman, Russell (Terrie) of Waukesha and Karen of Merton; dear grandpa of Marisa, Donny, Derek, Dayna, Lacy, Tiffany (Jason) Phipps and Ryan; great-grandpa of Kaytlin Jayne Phipps; beloved brother of Janet Mueller and Minnibel (Norm) Dunn; further survived by other relatives and friends.

Merrill was a longtime farmer and worked for the Waukesha Highway Department for many years.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. until the time of the funeral service at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Schmidt & Bartelt A.A. Schmidt & Sons Funeral Home, highways 164 & VV, Sussex. Burial will be held on Friday, Oct. 6, at the Lisbon-Merton Union cemetery; meet at the cemetery at 10 a.m.

Robert G. Gitzlaff
EAGLE SPRINGS LAKE - Robert G. Gitzlaff, 68, of Eagle Springs Lake, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at his residence in Eagle. He was born Oct. 14, 1931, in Milwaukee to Ervin and Esther (nee Ollenberg) Gitzlaff.

Robert was a member of Eagle Springs Lake for 42 years. He retired from Harnischfeger in West Allis in 1986. He was a member of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church in East Troy and a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in Korea.

He is survived by his wife, Doris (nee Brunzlick). They were married at Augusta on Nov. 29, 1952.

Robert is further survived by his children, Thomas (Judy) of Wales, Wendy (Ray) Esch of East Troy and Mike of Stone Bank; his 10 grandchildren, Ryan, Corey, Matthew, Karrie, Jeremy, Katie, Patrick, Andrew, Steven and Jennifer. He is also survived by nieces, nephews and other relatives and friends.

He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Earl.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Mealy’s Funeral Home, 103 Eagle St., Eagle. Funeral services will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Good Shepherd Lutheran Church, 1936 Emery St., East Troy. Pastor Philip Vangen will officiate. Burial will be at Oak Ridge cemetery in Eagle.

Memorials to Good Shepherd Lutheran Church are appreciated.

Harold A. "Mike’ Mickel
WAUKESHA - Harold A. "Mike" Mickel, born on Feb. 13, 1912, in Waukesha, the son of John and Ida (nee Young) Mickel, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at the Virginia Health Care Center at the age of 88. He was a lifetime member of the Evangelical & Reformed United Church of Christ. He worked for the Waukesha school system for over 35 years and continued to work at athletic events after his retirement until his death. He umpired for 42 years with Land-O-Lakes and other leagues.

He will be sadly missed by his daughters, Charlene (David) Hein of Mukwonago and Eleanor Lynne Mickel of Waukesha; his grandson, Christopher (Tamra) Schafer of Wauwatosa; his great-granddaughter, Josie; his sisters, Edith Morris of West Allis and Gwendolyn (Willard) Martzke of Shawano; his sister-in-law, Ida Mickel of North Prairie; other relatives and many friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Ideyl; his parents; two brothers, Harvey and Lloyd; and two sisters, Elsie and Hazel.

Funeral services for Mike will be held at 7 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 5, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard. Friends may call at the funeral home from 4 p.m. Thursday until the time of the service. Burial will be in the Prairie Home cemetery at 10:30 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6; please meet at the cemetery office.

Valerie Miller
WAUKESHA - Valerie Miller (nee Brady) died Sunday, Oct. 1, 2000, at the age of 87. She was the beloved wife of 61 years as of last January to Earl R. Miller.

She was the dear mother of Elliott (Peg) Miller and Vicki (Brian) Barrett; the beloved grandmother of Teresa and Bev; and the dear great-grandmother of Andy, Nick and Tiffany. She is survived by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 7, at St. William’s Catholic Church, 440 N. Moreland Blvd.

In lieu of flowers, memorials to the church would be appreciated.

John E. Proffit
PEWAUKEE - John E. Proffit, of Pewaukee, died Tuesday, Oct. 3, 2000, at the age of 60.

He is survived by his sisters, Emily (Donald) and Virgina (Robert); his brother, Clarence (Janet); and his sister-in-law, Helen. He is further survived by nephews, nieces, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence; his mother, Marion; and his brother, William.

Graveside services will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, Oct. 6, at Forest Hill cemetery in Pewaukee.
