Patricia A. ‘Pat’ Freuck
WAUKESHA - Patricia A. "Pat" Freuck, 73, died Saturday, Oct. 21, 2000, at Waukesha Memorial Hospital.

Pat was born Jan. 16, 1927. She was a longtime member of St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Waukesha, where she had been a member since 1954.

Pat is survived by many friends from church and from Saratoga Heights, where she was a resident. She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Freuck, on May 21, 1966.

Funeral services for Pat will be held at 7 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 24, at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 Carroll St., with the Rev. Theodore Romberg officiating. Friends may call at the church on Tuesday form 6:30 p.m. until the time of the funeral service. Private burial will take place Wednesday at Wood National cemetery in Milwaukee.

The Rudolph-Larsen Bros. Funeral Home, 542-7111, is serving the family.

Martha E. Koenigs
WAUKESHA - Martha E. Koenigs (nee Daiker) was born to eternal life on Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000, at the age of 92. Martha was the wife of the late John Koenigs. She is the beloved great-aunt of Joanne (Pat) McCaffery, Don (Chris) and Bill (Sally) Daiker, all of Waukesha. She is further survived by other relatives and friends.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at St. Michael Church, 1445 N. 24th St. Private interment at Holy Cross cemetery. Friends may call from 6 p.m. Wednesday until the time of Mass at the church.

Kelly J. Martin
WAUKESHA - Kelly J. Martin, 20, died Sunday, Oct. 22, 2000. She was born Feb. 27, 1980 to Randy and Linda (nee Hildebran) Martin. She was born and raised in Waukesha attending Bethesda Elementary School and graduating from Waukesha North High School in 1998. She was currently enrolled at Waukesha County Technical College.

Kelly will be deeply missed by her parents and her sister, Melissa (Edward) Jackson of West Allis. She was the beloved granddaughter of William Martin of Waukesha and Joseph and Joanne Hildebran of Waukesha. Kelly is further survived by cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends. She was preceded in death by her grandmother, Bernice Martin and her cousin, Shawn Martin.

Friends may call from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Randle-Dable Funeral Home, 1110 S. Grand Ave. A second visitation will be held from 9:30 a.m. until the 10:30 a.m. funeral service at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church, 300 S. Carroll St. Pastor Rod Resheske will officiate. Entombment will follow at Prairie Home cemetery.

Dianne C. Pfeifer
WATERTOWN - Dianne C. Pfeifer, 50, of Watertown, formerly of Pewaukee, died Tuesday, Oct. 24, 2000, at Froedert Memorial Hospital in Milwaukee. Dianne was born Dec. 26, 1949, in Chicago, a daughter of the late George and Jeanne (nee Greiger) Goocher. She had been a department manager at Wal-Mart in Watertown and also had worked as a certified nurses assistant for Shorehaven Health Care Center for a year and a half.

She will be sadly missed by her children, Shane Pfeifer of Park Forest, Ill., and Tracy (Bob) Divilbiss of Oak Park, Ill.; and by her grandson, Robert Jeffrey. She is also survived by her two brothers, Blaine (Mary) Goocher of Bourbon, Mo., and Greg Goocher of Sullivan, Mo.; and by her four sisters, Gail (Willie) Lind of Dousman, Carol (Jeff) Sekey of Waukesha, Janet Goocher of Sussex and Kim (Raed) Sadi of Watertown. Dianne is also survived by many nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services for Dianne will be held at 10 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home. Father Leonard Barbian of St. William Catholic Church in Waukesha will be the officiant. Friends may call at the funeral home today, Oct. 25, from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m., and on Thursday from 9 a.m. until the time of the service at 10 a.m. Burial will be in the Forest Hill cemetery in Pewaukee.

Mary Anne Sommerfeld
BROOKFIELD - Mary Anne (nee Murray) Sommerfeld was born to eternal life Monday, Oct. 23, 2000, at the age of 69.

Mary Anne was the loving daughter of the late William and Della Murray. She was the beloved wife of the late Kenneth Edward Sommerfeld. She was the loving mother to Kris Scott and fiance Terry Tugel, Kerri (Tom) Feldhaus, Kurt, Keefe, Kent (eleni), Kelly and K.C. (Carrie). She was the grandmother to Kara, Justin, Katie, Shannon, Meagan, Tyler, Peter, Steven, Luke, Jessie and Joseph. She was the loving sister-in-law to Eve and the late Harrison Murray. She was also the loving sister to Harlan Murray and Bill (Joanne) Murray.

Visitation will be held from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 25, at the Krause Funeral Home, 9000 W. Capitol Drive. Visitation will also be held from 9 a.m. to 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Oct. 26, at the funeral home with burial to follow at Holy Cross cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. A special thank you to all of the medical staff at Elmbrook Memorial and Waukesha Memorial hospitals for their tender care.

Mary Anne was a huge collector of teddy bears, loved the Green Bay Packers and will be remembered for her kindness and loving spirit to many friends and relatives.

Anna J. Cerkoney
WHITEWATER - Anna J. Cerkoney, 85, of Whitewater, passed away Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at Fairhaven Retirement Community. She had resided in Whitewater for the past 10 years and moved into Fairhaven in July of 1999.

She was born Oct. 25, 1915, in Chicago. She married Michael Cerkoney on June 1, 1941, in Chicago; he preceded her in death on June 16, 1986.

Anna and Mike moved from Chicago to Wisconsin where they farmed and raised their family. Anna later retired from Foster-Forbes in Burlington.

She was a member of St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Whitewater and was the coordinator of the prayer chain. She was also an active volunteer at the Whitewater Senior Center before moving to Fairhaven.

Anna will be greatly missed by her family, which includes four sons, Joe (Gayle) of Waukesha, Dan (Margaret) of Milwaukee, Fred (Susan) of Whitewater and Mike (Jennifer) of Burnsville, Minn.; and one daughter, Terry (Joe) Finze of McHenry, Ill.; 10 grandchildren and six great-grandchildren; two sisters-in-law, Teckla Zordani and Sylvia Cerkoney; and many nieces and nephews.

A Mass of Christian burial will be held at 11 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church in Whitewater. Friends may call at the church after 9 a.m. Monday until the time of the services. Burial will be in St. Joseph cemetery in Fort Atkinson.

In lieu of other expressions of sympathy, Anna would have loved donations in her name to either the Seniors in the Park or "SWIM" organizations in Whitewater.

David J. Eckmann
TOWN OF VERNON - David J. Eckmann, of the town of Vernon, died Wednesday, Oct. 25, 2000, at his home at the age of 26. He was born July 24, 1974, the son of Joel J. and Ellen (nee Weithaus) Eckmann.

David was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Big Bend. He graduated from Mukwonago High School and then from the Milwaukee School of Engineering as a mechanical engineer. He was employed as an applications engineer for Rexnord Planetgear Division.

David was the beloved son of Joel L. and Ellen (nee Weithaus) Eckmann of the town of Vernon, and the dear brother of Joel D. Eckmann of Hartford and Anna Eckmann. He was the grandson of Mrs. Dolores Eckmann of Waukesha and Gertrude Weithaus of Mukwonago. Also surviving are cousins, aunts, uncles, other relatives and friends.

Funeral services will be held at 12:30 p.m. Monday, Oct. 30, at St. Joseph Catholic Church in Big Bend. Father Robert F. Surges will celebrate Mass. Friends may call from 4 p.m. until 8 p.m. Sunday, Oct. 29, at the Cesarz, Charapata & Zinnecker Funeral Home on Moreland Boulevard in Waukesha, and on Monday at the church from noon until the time of Mass.

Memorials would be appreciated to the oncology department at Children’s Hospital.

David’s family would like to offer a special thank you to Dr. Casper and the oncology staff at Children’s Hospital, Dr. S. Weisman, the Palliative Care Team, Paula and Arlene, as well as the family and special friends who supported David during his illness.

James L. Turcotte
PRINCETON - James L. Turcotte, age 74, of Princeton, formerly of Montello, passed away Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at the Ripon Medical Center. He was born June 18, 1926, in Rhinelander, the son of Henry and Eleanore (Doyle) Turcotte. He attended St. Mary’s Grade School and Rhinelander High School. In 1944, Jim enlisted in the U.S. Navy and served in the Pacific from May of 1944 through May of 1946 aboard the USS Goodhue. After his discharge from the service, Jim did heavy construction work in Michigan, Minnesota and Wisconsin. After sustaining severe injuries while working on the Gateway Arch in St. Louis, he spent a year at Barnes Orthopedic Hospital. He returned to work, doing lighter construction in Waukesha.

Jim married Clare Schneider of Milwaukee on July 1, 1965. They lived in Waukesha for 28 years and then moved to Montello. He belonged to the Eagles #453 of Waukesha and the Building Trades Union.

Jim is survived by his children, Lawrence, Stephen, Michael, Joseph, Janice Turcotte, and Beverly Hart of Minocqua; 10 grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; two sisters, Lorraine Dillon of McFarland and Norma Turcotte of Franklin; three loving nieces, nephews other relatives and friends. Jim was preceded in death by his parents and wife, Clare, on Jan. 8, 1993.

The Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 10 a.m. Monday, Oct. 30, from St. John The Baptist Catholic Church in Princeton, with Father Dale Grubba officiating. Relatives and friends may call at the church one hour prior to the service. Burial services will follow that day at St. Mary’s Catholic cemetery in Rhinelander at approximately 2:45 p.m.

Memorials may be directed to the National Parkinson’s Foundation in memory of James Turcotte. Wachholz and Sons Funeral Home in Princeton is serving the family.

Shirley D. (nee Rosenmerkel) Curran
GLEN COVE, NY - Shirley D. (nee Rosenmerkel) Curran, age 76, was born to eternal life on Sept. 11, 2000, in Glen Cove, N.Y.

She was born Jan. 20, 1924, in Waukesha to John and Rose Rosenmerkel. Shirley was raised in Waukesha and was a 1942 graduate of Waukesha High School. She met James W. Curran Jr. when he was a cadet at Carroll College. They later married and moved to Long Island, N.Y., where they made their home. Shirley looked forward to her frequent visits to Waukesha over the years.

She was the beloved wife of the late James W. Curran Jr. and dear mother to Nan Curran, Rory (Rick) LiCastri and Meg (Joe) Livolsi. She was the cherished grandmother of Noah Masters and Hayley and Lauren Livolsi. She will be sadly missed by her sister, Agnes (Robert) Howard of Waukesha and niece, Diane Colfax.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her sons, Hank and Jim Curran, and her nephew, Jerry Howard.

Funeral services were held in Glen Cove. Burial took place in Holy Rood cemetery.

Frances F. Schroeder
MUKWONAGO - Frances F. Schroeder, 89, died Friday, Oct. 27, 2000, at her home in Mukwonago.

She was born Feb. 14, 1911, in the Township of Randall to Oliver and Tilla (nee Reich) Reynolds. On Nov. 22, 1932, she married Rudolph Schroeder.

Frances mended shoes at Schroeder’s Shoe Repair Mukwonago. She was a volunteer with the Waukesha Blood Bank, coordinating the Mukwonago area. She was a member of Mount Olive Lutheran Church.

She is survived by her children, Robert (Kathy) Schroeder of New Braunfels, Texas, James Schroeder of East Troy, Ruth "Sally" Magruder of Oakely, Calif., Carol (John) Massino of Eagle and Susan (Walter) Trupke of Blanchardville. She is further survived by 15 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by her sister, Florence Mulder of Racine. She was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph, in 1981, and one grandson.

Visitation will be held from noon to 1 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Schmidt and Bartelt-Van Valin Funeral Home, 315 Main St. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home, with the Rev. Dr. Steven C. Kuhl officiating. Burial will be in the Oak Knoll cemetery in Mukwonago.

Memorials are suggested to the Center for Breast Care at Waukesha Memorial Hospital, 725 American Ave., Waukesha, WI 53188.

John C. Schulze
John C. Schulze, 64, formerly of Brookfield, died suddenly Thursday evening, Oct. 26, 2000.

A Mass will be held at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 2, at the Basilica of St. Josaphat Catholic Church, 2333 S. 6th St., Milwaukee. The Rev. Robert Joseph Switanowski will officiate the Mass. There will be no graveside service.

John was born John Carl Schulze on Sept. 28, 1936, in Waukesha, a son of the late Frederick C. and Dorothea B. Schulze. He attended Waukesha Public Schools and graduated with the class of 1954 from Waukesha High School. He also attended school at the Milwaukee Institute of Technology and the University of Wisconsin-Whitewater. Later, he was the owner of Advanced Industrial Sales Inc.

He married the late Katherine D. Herman on June 24, 1961, at Holy Innocents Catholic Church in Manitowoc. Mr. Schulze was a caring husband and father. He had special interests in the Boy Scouts, camping, landscaping and model railroads.

Survivors include his son and daughter-in-law, Michael K. and Kimberley of Delafield; his son and daughter-in-law, Peter J. and Monica of Walkersville, Md.; and his daughter and son-in-law, Anne M. and David Baumann of Milwaukee; his brothers and sisters-in-law, Fred and Judy Schulze and Joe and Emily Schulze; and his sister, Mary Schaefer. He is also survived by four grandchildren, Matthew, Nicholas and Rachel Schulze of Wisconsin and Roman Schulze of Maryland; cousins, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his wife, Katherine; his parents; and his brother, David.

Memorials may be made to the Basilica of St. Josaphat or the Jesuit Retreat House in Oshkosh, Wis.

Church and Chapel Funeral Service, 549-0659, is serving the family.

Gary A. Krumnow
NASHOTAH - Gary A. Krumnow, of Nashotah, passed away Saturday, Sept. 2, 2000, at the age of 60.

He was an active member of Zion Lutheran Church in Hartland and a retired 30-year Wisconsin State Patrol officer.

Survivors include his mother, Dorothy, of Brookfield; his brother, Ken (fiancŽe Marge Maske) of East Troy; and his special friend, Diana Mehling. He was preceded in death by his father, Clarence, and his sister, Jackie Cook.

A memorial service will be held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 6, at Brookfield Regency, 777 N. Brookfield Road, Brookfield.

In lieu of flowers, memorials for God’s work are appreciated.
