Lelia L. McIntyre
SHINNSTON -- Lelia Levenia McIntyre, 83, of Route 1, Harter Hill section, Worthington, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, in the Fairmont General Hospital following an extended illness.
She was born May 19, 1916, in Clarksburg, a daughter of the late Harry P. and Stella B. Ruble Clayton.
Her husband of 61 years, Clifford McIntyre, whom she married on June 7, 1938, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Harry and Sharon McIntyre, with whom she made her home; one daughter and son-in-law, Sylvia and Robert Duckworth, Shinnston; one brother, Paul Clayton, Clarksburg; seven grandchildren, 11 great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by two brothers, Carl and Rex Clayton; and three sisters, Sylvia Johnson, Bonnie Bailey, and Edna Jones.
Mrs. McIntyre was a former member of the Order of the Eastern Star in Shinnston, and a member of the Oakhurst Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston, after 2 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with Randy Cook officiating. Interment will follow in the Alvy Church cemetery in Tyler County.
Robert S. Meredith
WESTOVER -- Robert Shawn Meredith, 35, of 200 Florida Ave., Westover, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at the Ruby Memorial Hospital.
He was born Aug. 21, 1963, in Fairmont, a son of Robert Meredith, Morgantown, and Toni A. Gemondo Meredith, Clarksburg.
Also surviving are a long time companion, Crystal Smith; two sons, Anthony Joseph Meredith and Blair Hunter Meredith, both of Morgantown; his stepmother, Aida Meredith; three brothers, Frank Joseph Meredith and companion Brandi Given, Morgantown, Michael Shannon and Cheryl Meredith, Rivesville, and James Neil Meredith and companion Tina Golden, Morgantown, paternal grandmother, Margaret Meredith, Fairmont; maternal grandmother, Lelia Gemondo, Shinnston; four stepbrothers, Matthew and Michael Cress, Morgantown, Dennis Cress, Phoenix, Ariz., and Paul Cress, California; and two stepsisters, Sandra Kennedy and Sheila Elliott, both of Morgantown.
He was preceded in death by his grandfathers, James R. Meredith and James A. Gemondo.
Mr. Meredith was a self- employed laborer.
He was Methodist.
Mr. Meredith served in the U.S. Navy for over three years.
A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. today at the William McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Rd., Westover, with Chuck Richardson officiating. Interment will follow in the Beverly Hills cemetery.
William J. Osborne
GLENVILLE -- William J. "Bill" Osborne, 68, of 411 Kanawha St., Glenville, died at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, 1999, in the United Hospital Center following a six-month illness.
He was born June 8, 1931, in Kanawha County, a son of the late Ben and Ruth Beard Osborne.
His wife, Janet Lanham Osborne, whom he married on April 23, 1955, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Kenneth "Kenny" and Kelly Davis Osborne, Princeton; two brothers, Alfred Osborne, Mammoth, and Harold Osborne, Ravenswood; two sisters, Geraldine Adkins, Florence, Ala., and Betty King, Nitro; and one granddaughter, Kristen Osborne, Princeton.
Mr. Osborne was a graduate of Elk View High School, and a graduate of Morris Harvey College with a BA degree in Business.
He was a retired business manager of Glenville State College with 25 years of service.
Mr. Osborne was a member of the Glenville Lions Club, the Charleston Masonic Lodge No. 53, a member of the Gilmer County Retired School Employees Association, and a member of the Trinity United Methodist Church, where he served as treasurer.
He was a U.S. Army veteran of the Korean Conflict.
Friends will be received at the Ellyson Mortuary Inc., Glenville, from 3-5 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be conducted at 10 a.m. Tuesday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Michael Ford officiating. Interment will follow at 3 p.m. Tuesday in the Floral Hill Memory Gardens in Sissonville.
Tom D. Thomas
FLATWOODS -- Tom Douglas Thomas, 93, of Copen, Braxton County, died Saturday, July 10, 1999, following a long and valiant struggle with cancer.
He was a son of the late Michael Richard and Priscilla Estelle Henline Thomas.
His wife, Audra Gerwig Thomas, whom he married on March 18, 1940, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Samuel Richard and Ginger Thomas, Pascagoula, Miss.; one daughter, Dr. Virginia Elizabeth (Betsy) Thomas, Fairmont; one son-in-law, Jack Bosley, who assisted in his care of Right Hand Fork, Braxton County; five grandchildren and their spouses, Kevin and Amy Bosley, Douglasville, Ga., Rusanne Rychelle and Jason Edwards, Okinawa, Japan, Alan Regan Thomas, a student at Marshall University, Daniel B. Thomas, a student at University of Mississippi, Shelby W. Thomas, Pascagoula; one brother, Arden Thomas, Belington; one sister, Virginia Funkhouser, Alexandria, Va.; one great-granddaughter, and several nieces, nephews, in-laws, cousins, and friends.
He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Mary Priscilla Thomas Bosley; three brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Thomas was a retired railroader, spending 47 years with the Baltimore and Ohio Railroad in a variety of capacities as a worker and supervisor. He also worked as a construction worker following his retirement from the railroad and maintained the family farm in Braxton County.
He was a member of the Priesthood of the Reorganized Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
There will be no visitation and no funeral service at this time. As per his wishes, Mr. Thomas will be cremated and his ashes given to his wife, Audra. A joint funeral/memorial service will be held at the time of his wife's passing.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to The American Cancer Society.
Marilyn M. Alshouse
LOUDONVILLE, Ohio -- Marilyn M. Alshouse, 62, of Toledo, formerly of Mansfield, died Monday, July 5, 1999, at Sunrise Care Center, Toledo, following an extended illness.
She was born March 7, 1938, in Enterprise, W.Va., a daughter of George and Mildred Chrastina Morris.
Surviving are two sons and daughters-in-law, Greg R. and Brenda Turner, Coarse Gold, Calif., and Chris N. Turner, Miami, Fla.; two daughters and sons-in-law, Jamee and Jim O'Neil, Flagstaff, Ariz., and Sheree and Brian Strang, Reno, Nev.; five grandchildren and three great-grandchildren; and three sisters, Mary Jean "Jackie" Morris, Mannington, Marjorie Patterson, Hayesville, Ohio, and Marlene Stapleton, Logan, Utah.
She grew up in Shinnston, W.Va., where she attended Shinnston High School. She later lived in Mansfield, Ohio, where she was a homemaker.
Byerly-Lindsey Funeral Home, 123 N. Market St., Loudonville, is in charge of arrangements.
Mary E. Gray
GRAFTON -- Mary Ellen Gray, 50, of Route 5, Grafton, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at her residence.
She was born in Grafton, June 8, 1949, a daughter of George Richard "Dick" Campbell, Grafton, and the late Mildred P. Gall Campbell, who preceded her on Aug. 31, 1997.
Her husband, Richard T. Gray, survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Tasha Ellen Gray, at home; one son, Richard T. Gray II and his wife, Mary C. Gray, Lebanon, Tenn.; one sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Melvin (Roxie) Jones, Bridgeport; several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
Mrs. Gray was a licensed practical nurse at Rosewood Health and Rehabilitation Center of Grafton, where she was employed for 15 years. She was a member of the Taylor County Boat Club.
Raymond R. Harris
FLATWOODS -- Raymond R. Harris, 69, of Baltimore, Md., died Saturday, July 10, 1999, at Church Home Hospital, Baltimore, after a short illness.
He was born Nov. 6, 1929, in Grafton, a son of the late Albert and Ella McCoy Harris.
His wife, Mavis Harris, preceded him in death on Nov. 3, 1982.
Surviving are three daughters, Ruby Kolb, Alice Harris and Ellamae Harris, all of Baltimore; four sons, Harold Harris, Lakeworth, Fla., Raymond, Bobby and David Harris, all of Baltimore, and one sister, Edna Marie Carpenter, Clarksburg; six brothers, Kenneth Harris, McConnelsville, Ohio, Bloomsfield "Pete" Harris, Oregon, Albert and James Harris, both of Cleveland Ohio, and George and Tommy Harris, both of Hamstramed, Mich.; 14 grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Harris was retired from General Motors, Baltimore. He was a World War II veteran.
Angela R. Marshall
Angela Rita Marshall, 82, of Clarksburg, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at United Hospital Center following an extended illness.
She was born in Clarksburg, Jan. 15, 1917, a daughter of the late Charles and Catherine Switzer Marshall.
Surviving are several cousins and two close friends, Angela Oliverio, Clarksburg, and Naomi Powell, Bridgeport; several additional close friends.
She was also preceded in death by two sisters, Mary Catherine Marshall and Frances Marshall.
She was retired from the City of Clarksburg in the Finance Department with 35 years of service. She was a member of the Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, Catholic Daughters of America and the adult and funeral choirs at Immaculate Conception Catholic Church.
Friends may call at the Davis Funeral Home, 443 W. Pike St., Clarksburg, from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated in Immaculate Conception Catholic Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with the Rev. Father Cesidio Federico as celebrant. Interment will follow in Machpelah cemetery in Weston.
Margaret V. Reynolds
SARASOTA, Fla. -- Margaret V. Reynolds, 78, of Sarasota, died Saturday, June 5, 1999.
She was born on July 17, 1920, in Grafton.
Surviving are two daughters, Peggy Reynolds, Sarasota, and Patti Sowers, Hagerstown; one son, Richard L. Reynolds, Sarasota; and two brothers, Charles King, Weirton, and William King, Federalsburg, Md.
Ms. Reynolds was a housewife and a member of Stealey Heights Methodist Church, Clarksburg.
Mary E. Robinson
HORNER -- Mary Ellen Belt Robinson, 69, of Route 1, Horner, died Sunday, July 11, 1999, at her home.
She was born on Feb. 5, 1930, in Weston, a daughter of the late Roland and Agnes Ella Blake Belt.
On Nov. 11, 1929, she married Charles Hartzel Robinson, who preceded her in death on Sept. 12, 1995.
Surviving are one son, Charles Wayne Robinson, Horner; four sisters, Catherine Belt Sumpter, Weston, Helen D. Belt Harris, Lost Greek, Susan Belt Moneypenny and Janet Joan Belt Gray, both of Horner; three brothers, Roland "Pepper" Belt, Norton, Ohio, and Willis "Tony" and Scott Earl Belt, both of Weston.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Ronald "Dick" Belt.
Mrs. Robinson was a homemaker. She was a member of Way of Holiness Church.
Shawn C. Watson
Shawn Cacey Watson, infant son of Shawn Watson and Kasey Thacker, died Friday, July 9, 1999, at Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown.
Surviving are two sisters, Ashley Thacker and Katherine Watson; his maternal grandmother, Cindy Thacker, and his paternal grandparents, Keith Watson and Pam Nicholson.
He was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, Norman Thacker.
There will be graveside service at 1 p.m. today in Shinnston Masonic cemetery. Davis Funeral Home, Clarksburg Chapel, in charge of arrangements.
Bertha Criss
SHINNSTON -- Bertha Criss, 90, of Big Elk Community, Wallace, died at 9:27 a.m., Monday, July 12, 1999, in United Hospital Center, Clarksburg, following a brief illness.
She was born in Calhoun County, Nov. 3, 1908, a daughter of the late Edward and Belle LeMasters Myers.
She was preceded in death by her first husband, Riley A. Harbert, and her second husband, James R. Criss.
Surviving are five sons, Frank, Howard and Russell Criss, all of Ohio, Cecil Criss, Wallace, and Freddie Criss, Clarksburg; one daughter, Pearl Gray, Florida; 39 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded in death by four sons, Kenneth, Robert, Raymond and James Criss; and five stepchildren, Edward Criss, Bess Davis, Florida Compton, Pauline Pye and Clara Anthony.
Mrs. Criss was a homemaker and Pentecostal.
Friends will be received after 2 p.m. today at Dorsey Funeral Home, Shinnston, where the funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, with the Rev. James Loan officiating. Interment will be in the Robinson cemetery at Big Elk, Wallace.
