Ernest J. Anderson
Ernest J. Anderson, 42, of Route 6, Clarksburg, died suddenly Monday, July 19, 1999, at his home.
He was born in Pine Grove, Oct. 21, 1956, a son of the late Andy C. Anderson and Pauline Ruth Reese Anderson Knapp.
Surviving is his estranged wife, Jeannie Anderson, Jane Lew.
Also surviving are two children, Michael Anderson and Melissa Anderson, both of California; three brothers, Ervin L. Anderson, Philippi, Sam Smith, Clarksburg, and Chris Knapp, Jane Lew; two sisters, Nancy Houston, Morgantown, and Janet Warner, Big Isaac; six nephews and one niece.
He was also preceded in death by his stepfather, Carley Raymond Knapp.
Mr. Anderson was a maintenance supervisor at Presley Ridge Hospital with 10 years of service. He was a U.S. Navy veteran having served during the Vietnam Conflict. He was a member of the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church.
Friends will be received from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. today at Davis Funeral Home, 443 West Pike St., Clarksburg. His body will be taken to the Lost Creek Seventh Day Baptist Church to lie in state one hour prior to the service, which is to be held at 2 p.m. Friday. The Rev. Stephen Osborn will officiate. Interment will be in the Brick Church cemetery.

Sylvesta L. Bryant
BUCKHANNON -- Sylvesta Lou Bryant, 60, of 20 Franklin St., Buckhannon, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at her residence.
She was born April 15, 1939, a daughter of the late Bacil and Rushia Jane Hinkle Mallett.
Her husband, William T. Bryant, whom she married in 1957, preceded her in death in 1997.
Surviving are one daughter, Susan Bryant; one son, William C. Bryant, Pittsburgh, Pa.; one sister, Betty M. Pritt, Oakland, Md.; and two brothers, Bacil Robert Mallett, Buckhannon, and James E. Mallett, DeLeon Springs, Fla.
Mrs. Bryant was a homemaker.

Henry H. Hartley
SHINNSTON -- Henry Howard Hartley, 71, of Haywood Road, near Shinnston, died at 5:45 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at the United Hospital Center following an extended illness.
He was born Nov. 9, 1927, in Boothsville, Marion County, a son of the late Howard and Cora Shackleford Hartley.
His wife, Dorotha Bice Hartley, whom he married on Dec. 19, 1948, survives.
Also surviving are three sons and daughters-in-law, Gary L. and Karen Hartley, Ronald B. "Putt" and Anne Hartley, all of Bridgeport, and Randall D. and Barbara Hartley, Shinnston; one daughter, Deborah Bunnell, Lumberport; nine grandchildren, Stacy Freeman, Kelley and Jeffrey Hartley, all of Shinnston, Steve Bunnell, Lumberport, Sara and Adam Hartley, Jessica, Leah, and Abby Hartley, all of Bridgeport; and one great-grandson.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers and two sisters.
Mr. Hartley was retired from the Shinnston Masonic cemetery after 32 years of service.
He was in the U.S. Navy.
Mr. Hartley was a member of the Meadowbrook Church of Christ.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 7-9 p.m. Saturday and 1-4 p.m. and 6-9 p.m. Sunday. A funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. Monday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. Dan Smith and the Rev. Michael Lucas officiating. Interment will follow in the Shinnston Masonic cemetery.

Effie S. Hatfield
PINE GROVE -- Effie Starkey Hatfield, 90, of Folsom, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, at the home of her friend in Folsom.
She was born Aug. 4, 1908, in Smithfield, a daughter of the late John T. Starkey and Ida Mae McKinney Starkey Price.
Her husband, Harry O. "Otis" Hatfield, preceded her in death in 1971.
Surviving are one sister, Lily Barnett, Worthington; her friend and caretaker, Mary B. Edgell, Folsom; and friends, Bob, Joyce, Sara, Kassey, and Dylan Edgell, and Kim and Robert McDaniel.
She was also preceded in death by three half-brothers, Edward Price, William Price, and Ellis Price; one sister, Dessie Quinn; and one half-sister, Rosa Hardway.
Mrs. Hatfield attended the Light House Church of God in Smithfield.

Steven A. McNemar
GRAFTON -- Steven Alan McNemar, 44, of Meadland Community, Route 3, Bridgeport, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, in the Grafton City Hospital.
He was born June 8, 1999, in Clarksburg, a son of Dorothy McNemar Mauller and the late Edward Ray McNemar.
His wife, Sophia Gigliotti McNemar, whom he married on June 18, 1977, survives.
Also surviving are one son, Christopher Michael McNemar, at home; his stepfather, Paul Mauller, Route 3, Bridgeport; three stepbrothers, Jack Mauller and Larry Richard Mauller, both of Meadland Community, Route 3, Bridgeport, and Paul Melvin Mauller, Memphis, Tenn.; one stepsister, Charlotte Jenkins, Meadland Community, Route 3, Bridgeport; and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by one stepbrother, Kenneth Lindsey Mauller.
Mr. McNemar was a graduate of Flemington High School with the Class of 1973, and a graduate of The West Virginia Business College in 1974.
He was a member of the All Saints Catholic Church of Bridgeport and a member of the Sunshine Chapter of The Multiple Sclerosis Support Group.
Mr. McNemar was a former manager of The Public Finance Company in Nutter Fort.

Orval L. Self
WESTON -- Orval Lynn Self, 85, of Alum Bridge, died at 11 p.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, in Holbrook Nursing Home in Buckhannon following an extended illness.
He was born May 29, 1914, in Dusk Camp, Gilmer County, a son of the late Oate and Mirja Conard Self.
His wife, the former Ruth M. Warner, whom he married on Oct. 18, 1946, survives.
Also surviving are one son, Bill Self, Alum Bridge; two grandsons, Bill Self Jr. and Joseph Lee Yeager; two granddaughters, Crystal Brooke Hitt and Maranda Dawn Whipkey; two sisters, Loretta Peters, Ellis, and Leota Thompson, Weston; two great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, Gorman and Bill Self.
Mr. Self worked for Kiddy Monument Company of Weston.
He was a veteran of World War II, serving as a private in the U.S. Air Force with the 82nd Airborne Division.
Friends will be received at the Floyd Funeral Home, 402 Main Ave., Weston, from 6-8 p.m. today. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday in the Rock Grove cemetery in Linn.

Norma J. Waugaman
Norma Jean Waugaman, 71, of 32 Crestview Terrace, Bridgeport, died at 8 a.m. Thursday, July 22, 1999, at her residence.
She was born March 28, 1928, a daughter of the late Foster E. and Lovie Poe Yoho.
Her husband, Lawrence L. (Larry) Waugaman, whom she married on Aug. 26, 1948, survives.
Also surviving are three sons, Randall L. Waugaman, Good Hope, James F. Waugaman and Gregory A. Waugaman, both of Clarksburg; one daughter, Mrs. Carl (Pamela A.) Moser, Pruntytown; three grandchildren, Scott, Heather, and Jared; and two great-grandchildren.
She was also preceded by one brother, Foster E. Yoho.
Mrs. Waugaman was a retired teacher, having taught first grade at Hartman Elementary School for 23 years.
She was a member of the Clarksburg Womans Club, the YWCA, the West Virginia Retired Teachers Association, and a member of the Alpha Delta Kappa Sorority and Sunnycroft Bridge Ladies.
Mrs. Waugaman was a talented craftsperson and had been active in many area craft shows.
Friends will be received at the Davis-Weaver Funeral Home, 329 E. Main St., Clarksburg, from 2-4 p.m. and 7-9 p.m. today. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel with the Rev. James L. Caton II conducting the service. Interment will follow in the Floral Hills Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to: Peoples Hospice, P.O. Box 1680, Clarksburg, WV 26302.

Jack W. White Sr.
SHINNSTON -- Jack Wayne White Sr., 47, of Mannington, formerly of Worthington, died Thursday, July 22, 1999, in the United Hospital Center following a mining accident.
He was born July 10, 1952, in Fairmont, a son of Lelia McIntyre White, Worthington, and the late Williams W. White Sr.
His wife, Judy Ann Bolyard White, survives.
Also surviving are one daughter, Lelia Dawn White; one son and daughter-in-law, Jack Wayne and Caroline White Jr.; one stepdaughter and stepson-in-law, Melissa and Marshall Arnett; one stepson, Michael Cool Jr.; three grandchildren, Briana Lynn McKinzie, Kristin Michelle White, and Jonathon Michael Arnett; two sisters and brother-in-law, Katherine Jane Kerns, and Brenda Lea and John D. VanGilder; one sister-in-law, Linda Lou White; his mother-in-law and father-in-law, Lula and Clyde Bolyard; three sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Sarah and Chris Biggins, Maggie and Rick Uphold, and Sharon and Mark Rivera; several nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
He was also preceded in death by two brothers, William Warren White Jr. and Robert Thomas White; and one nephew, William Lee Kerns.
Mr. White was employed at the Fairfax Coal Mines, Inc., previously employed at Martinka Coal Mines in Colfax, and was formerly employed at the M & H Zinc Plant in Spelter.
Friends will be received at the Harmer Funeral Home, Shinnston, from 2-9 p.m. today and from 9 a.m.-2 p.m. Saturday. A funeral service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday in the funeral home chapel. Interment will follow in the I.O.O. F. cemetery in Enterprise.

Helena V. Bunner
FAIRMONT -- Helena Virginia Bunner, 84, of Bunner Ridge Community, Fairmont, died Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at the home of her daughter, Luella Robe.
She was born July 29, 1914, in Pickens, Randolph County, a daughter of the late French D. and Maude Shaw Travis.
Her husband, Raymond Harry Bunner, preceded her in death on Sept. 20, 1971.
Surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Joseph F. and Alice Bunner, Fairmont; three daughters and sons-in-law, Mary Bunner and J. Ervin Waters, Temple, Texas, Luella Bunner and Lowell Robe, Fairmont, and Della Bunner and Dean Huffman, Fairmont; one sister, Norma Travis Cowger, Shinnston; one sister-in-law, Wandalea Travis, Dola; 11 grandchildren, Ramona Waters Burnett, Sherri Waters Durham, Jayna Waters Ash, Connie Robe Hayhurst, Mary Joyce Robe Brady, Raymond "Ray" Robe, Kevin Bunner, Trina Bunner Carpenter, Karla Bunner Carpenter, Samantha Huffman, and Christian Huffman; 17 great-grandchildren, two great-great-grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
She was also preceded in death by one brother, Thomas Travis; and one great-grandson, Charles Adam Hayhurst.
Mrs. Bunner was a homemaker.
She was a devoted member of the Church of Christ Bunner Ridge.
Mrs. Bunner was a faithful volunteer in the Bunner Ridge Community.
Among her hobbies were gardening, bird watching, tending flowers, and traveling. Most of all, she enjoyed spending time with family and friends.

Harry E. DeWitt
FAIRMONT -- Harry Edward DeWitt, 84, of Fairmont, died at 6 a.m. Wednesday, July 21, 1999, at his residence.
He was born Jan. 20, 1915, in Deer Park, Md., a son of the late Thomas A. and Harriett Louella Shaffer DeWitt.
His wife of 63 years, Mary Josephine Shaffer DeWitt, whom he married on Sept. 14, 1935, survives.
Also surviving are one son and daughter-in-law, Thomas and Sharon DeWitt, Morgantown; four daughters and sons-in-law, Joyce and Bob Young, John Conaway, and Judy and Warren Compton, all of Fairmont, and Kathy and Gregg Mooney, Suwanee, Ga.; 19 grandchildren and 21 great-grandchildren.
He was also preceded in death by three brothers, Mervin DeWitt, John DeWitt, and Foster DeWitt; and one sister, Pearl DeWitt, in infancy.
Mr. DeWitt had retired as Vice President and General Manager of Morgantown Machine and Hydraulics.
He was a member of the Christ United Methodist Church.
Mr. DeWitt was a graduate of the Terra Alta High School.
His interests were fishing and camping.
