Virginia E. Swanger Fortney, age 82 of Master Graphics Road, Morgantown passed away Monday, April 27, 2009 at her home. She was born October 3, 1926 in Morgantown a daughter of the late William H. and Olive Dunham Swanger.
Virginia had been employed at Morgan Shirt Factory and was a Methodist by faith. She was a loving and devoted wife and mother.
Virginia is survived by two daughters Candace I. Fortney and Sharlene R. Fortney both of Morgantown, one stepdaughter and spouse, Meredith and Rudolph Bannick of Farmington, WV, one stepson Homer Fortney of Cooksville, TN, two sisters-in-law, Esther Belle Colvin of Valley Grove, WV and Sue Fortney of Jonesboro, TN, one brother-in-law, William Bland of Morgantown, two nieces and spouses, Deanna and Robert Cress and Judy and Bill Stewart both of Morgantown and two nephews and one spouse, William Bland and Mark and Tammi Bland, eight granddaughters, two grandsons, sixteen great grandchildren and one great great grandson, five grand nieces and five grand nephews.
Her husband, Homer Burr Fortney, one sister, Ruth Bland and one stepson, James Fortney, preceded Virginia in death.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3:30-7:00 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at the Beverly Hills Mausoleum.

Mildred “Wom” Frymyer, age 70 of Brookhaven passed away Thursday, September 11, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital surrounded by her loving family. She was born September 14, 1937 in Morgantown a daughter of the late Harry and Mary Eunice Dalton Hart.
Mildred greatest joy was her grandchildren and babysitting. She was Apostolic by faith and loved singing at churches and nursing homes.
Her husband, Ernest Clyde Frymyer who just celebrated their 50th anniversary on August 2, survives Mildred. Also two daughters and spouses, Rosalie and Clarence Miller of Little Indian Creek Road, and Joanna and James Costello of the Kingwood Pike, five grandchildren and spouses, Ernest “Spero” Costello and Melisa, Sabrina “Missy” Webb and Jeff, Christina “Chrissy” Lazzelle and Gary, Sarina “Munk” Cutlip and Scott, and Eric Costello and Patty, nine great grandchildren, Shonna, Hope, Kristen, Bubby, “J.J.” Jayna, Gary Jr., Ethan, and Logan., one sister and one brother.
Mildred was preceded in death by one grandson, Jason Taylor and one brother.
The family would like to thank Dr. Arthurs and staff, the nurses at Monongalia General Hospital, and the staff of Waterfront Pharmacy for their wonderful care and support in Mildred’s time of need.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Sunday at McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday at McCulla Funeral Home with Mildred’s husband, Ernest Frymyer officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Pleasant Cemetery.

Garnetta Glendening Fowler, age 87 of Milford Street, Morgantown went to be with the Lord, surrounded by her loving family on Friday, January 08, 2010 at Point Manor Personal Care Home in Point Marion, PA. She was born January 25, 1922 in Kanawha County a daughter of the late Fred and Edith Butcher Shepherd.
In her earlier years Garnetta had been employed as a food supervisor at WV University Hospital and actively attended Spruce Street United Methodist Church. An active person, Garnetta enjoyed fishing, camping, traveling, quilting and cooking, but her favorite pastime was being with her boys.
Garnetts is survived by two sons and spouses, Larry and Betty Jo Glendening of Morgantown, and Jerry and Tonya Glendening of Cincinnati, OH, one step-daughter, Nancy Jeffords of Florence, SC, one step-son Danny Fowler of NJ, grandchildren, Andrea Waddell, Stephanie Glendening, Jeffrey Glendening, and Gregory Glendening, and one great grandson, Ted Waddell, and special nieces, Janet Lemons, JoAnn McCulla and Judy Shay.
Garnetta was preceded in death by her first husband, Granville M. Glendening, her second husband, Albert J. Fowler, one son Gary Glendening, two sisters, Clara Powley, and Juanita Pennington, three brothers, George Shepherd, John Shepherd, Eithel Shepherd, one step-brother, Orville Rhodes and a special niece, Edith Switzer.
The family would like to express their sincere thanks to the staff at Point Manor for the love and excellent care they gave their mother.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-5 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until 11:00 AM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Monday at 11:00 AM with Rev. John Allen officiating. Burial will follow at Lawnwood Cemetery. The family requests that donations be made to Albert Gallatin Hospice, 102 South Main St., Masontown, PA. 15461

James Ivan Freed, age 85 of the Grafton Road, Morgantown passed away Saturday, March 15, 2008 at the home of his daughter. He was born September 24, 1922 at Dutchman’s Run in Ritchie County a son of the late Albert Cloyd and Manila Bay Mathess Freed.
James was employed as a chemical worker at Weston Chemical (Borg-Warner) and also with Star City Glass. He was an Army Medic, serving with the 2nd Infantry Division during World War II and was a Protestant by Faith. He was known far and wide for his yard decoration and windmills found in different parts of the country. He loved flea markets and especially his family and he will be sadly missed by all.
He is survived by one daughter, Linda Kuzniar and husband Joseph of the Grafton Road, one son James Michael Freed and wife Barbara of Bridgeport, two sisters Delphia Poole and husband Gene of Minooka, ILL and Dorothea Williamson and husband Edward of Elkins, WV, grandchildren, Michael W. Freed, Jessica Paczek, Jennifer Kuzniar, and Samantha Jolene Freed and two great granddaughters, Hope and Abbey Breakey.
His wife Emmogene Mallow Freed and three brothers, Albert Tona Freed, Tracy Audbert Freed and Shirley Eugene Freed preceded James in death.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-8 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 10:30 AM at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Sherman Goodwin officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery with graveside military services conducted by the Westover VFW Post # 9916 and the WV National Guard at Camp Dawson.

Jessica “Brianna” Ayers, known by many as “Bri” or “Breezy” went to be with her Lord and her dad on Sunday, July 22,2012. Brianna was born at Wheeling Hospital on October 5, 1989 to Bettyann Dudley Wilcox Ayers and the late Keith Ayers.
She lived in Beaumont, Texas before moving to Morgantown in 1999. She attended Cheat Lake Elementary School, where she was a cheerleader, Cheat Lake Junior High, and University High School. Brianna later attended WVU for one year.
In addition to her loving mother, Brianna is survived by two sisters Jennifer McGinley and her husband “Mack” and Christine Wilcox; two nieces Pippa C. and Molly Ann McGinley; one nephew Phinneaus Patrick Wilcox; paternal grandmother Ruby Ayers, of Sophia, WV; maternal step grandmother Rosemary Dudley; and many aunts, uncles, cousins, and friends.
Brianna touched a great number of people in her short time on this Earth and will be greatly missed.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday, July 26, 2012 from 6-8 pm. A service of shared memories conducted by family and friends will be held at 8:00 pm Thursday. McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services.

Benjamin Michael Blosser, Sr., 33, of Core went to be with the Lord on Saturday morning, November 24, 2012 at his home surrounded by his wife, Charla, son Christian, and his unborn son, Ben, Jr. Ben was born in Morgantown, on November 28, 1978 to the late Arlin Blosser, Jr. and Linda Sims Blosser of Cassville.
Ben was an avid fisherman, hunter, and loved shooting pool. He was devoted to his wife, son, and unborn son. He was a great man who had a big heart and would help anyone in need. He will be missed by his family and friends.
In addition to his mother, Ben is survived by his wife, Charla Townsend Blosser; his son Christian Blosser; his unborn son, Benjamin Blosser, Jr.; two brothers Paul Blosser and Bill Shaffer of Cassville; his maternal grandmother, Ada Sims of Jere; mother-in-law Bonita Miller and her husband Bill; his sister-in-law Annetta Johnson and her husband Randy; one nephew James Hall and his wife Sierra, six nieces Apryl Rebinski and her husband David, Randi Johnson, Heaven Blosser, Emmeleigh Blosser, Leana Blosser, Lillian Blosser; two great nieces Madison Hall & Lillian Brown; and numerous family and friends in the area.
In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by his grandparents, Arlin Blosser, Sr., Evelyn Blosser, Paul Sims, his Uncle Ray Sims, his father-in-law Charles E. Townsend, and a few close friends.
If anyone would like to make donations, an account has been established in Ben\\\\\\\'s memory at Tri-Ag Federal Credit Union in Sabraton, WV.

Jeffrey Scott Gennoy age 41 of Sugar Grove passed away Friday, June 25, 2010 at his home. He was born May 18, 1969 in Hildebrand a son of Connie Johnson Gennoy of Morgantown and the late Willard Edgar Gennoy.
Jeff attended Waitman Barbe and Morgantown High School and graduated as an auto body technician from M-Tech. He had owned and operated Gennoy’s Auto Body on Rt. 19 and Westover, and was currently employed by Maxon’s Body Shop in Mt. Morris.
Jeff was a true family man and people person. He loved to ride four-wheelers, go to picnics or to parties with his family. Always an outdoorsman, he was an avid hunter and fisherman.
In addition to his mother, Jeff is survived by his wife of 19 years, Christine Dick Gennoy, one daughter Amber Lynn Gennoy and companion Jonathan Hoopengarner of Morgantown, one son and “Little Buddy” Jeffrey Thomas Gennoy at home, one brother, Eddie Gennoy of Morgantown, paternal grandmother, Olive Gennoy or Morgantown, mother-in-law, Sharon Dick Stone of Pt. Marion, sister-in-law, Michelle Dick Brooks, husband Harold and their children, Brandon and Savannah of Pt. Marion, several aunts, uncles, cousins and numerous friends, who all loved him and will miss him very much.
Jeff was preceded in death by one infant sister, Tamera Renee Gennoy.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Sunday and on Monday from 11:00 AM until the 1:00 PM Funeral service with Rev. Leonard Graham officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Zion Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the family

Richard M. George, 57 of Apollo Drive, Morgantown passed away Monday, March 17, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born September 25, 1950 in Ithicia, NY a son of the late Samuel and Florence G. Michaels George.
Richard was disabled and devoted his life to being his mother’s caretaker. He loved going to the Monongalia County Senior Center and was associated with the CMA Church.
Richard is survived by one sister Melanie Mills and husband Tim of Morgantown, one brother, Daniel George of Valencia, CA, a sister-in-law Catherine George of Morgantown, nieces and nephew, Tricia DeBoni and husband Aaron, Tara Jones and husband Rob, Angie George, Jennifer Mills, Heather Mills, Aaron Mills, Maxy Jones and Olivia DeBoni, and friends of the family, Bob Wilson and Wilda Stemple.
Richard was preceded in death by one brother, Joseph George
Cremation services will be provided by McCulla Funeral Home and friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Friday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Memorial service with Pastor David Goodin officiating. Burial will be at Beverly Hills Cemetery at a later date. The family would like to extend special thanks to the staff at the Golden Living Center and Ruby Hospital for their compassion and care during Richard’s last days and in lieu of flowers, donations be made in his memory to the Children’s Hospital at Ruby.

Nelida Marina Gillian, age 71 of Rustic Drive, Morgantown passed away Wednesday, September 10, 2008 at her home. She was born November 15, 1936 in Buenos Aires, Argentina, a daughter of the late Jose and Rosalia Femia Valensisi.
Nelida was the owner of the Rose Ristorante in Westover and was a member of St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church.
She is survived by her husband, Thomas Gillian; two sons, Frank S. Lovece and wife Maitland of New York City and Joseph A. Lovece and wife Gwen of Ormond Beach, FL; two grandchildren Vincent Thomas Lovece and Erik Morgan Lovece and their mother, Toni L. Cohen; and a sister-in-law Marta Valensisi.
Nelida was preceded in death by three brothers Vicente Valensisi, Salvador Valensisi, and Jose Valensisi, and one sister Catalina Prestileo.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Friday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM with a 8:00 PM Vigil Service and at St. Francis de Sales Catholic Church on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Mass of Christian Burial with Father Leon Alexander as celebrant. Cremation services will be provided and the family requests that contributions be made to Pancreatic Cancer Action Network at www.pancan.org.
