William Vernon “Bill” Harding age 68 of Hidden Valley Road, Morgantown passed away Sunday, July 11, 2010 at his home. He was born September 8, 1941 in Morgantown a son of the late Vernon Howard and Lillian Marie Tennant Harding.
Bill was a school teacher in Monongalia County for over twenty years and also owned and operated Harding Rentals. He was a longtime member of the Westover Rotary Club and enjoyed participating in the Children’s Christmas program. Bill enjoyed nature and loved to be in his garden or flower beds or antiquing. He was a loving husband and father, who will be missed by many.
Bill is survived by his wife, Karen Taylor Harding, one daughter, Jessica Harding Renzi of Germantown, MD, one son William Hamilton Harding, with the United States Navy in Australia, and one sister, Judith Ann Harding Taylor and husband Thomas Taylor of Columbus, OH and several nieces and nephews.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on from 3-5 &7-9 Wednesday and on Thursday from noon until 2:00 PM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday at 2:00 PM with Pastors Allen and Joseph Donham and Pastor Ed Jones officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family requests that donations be made in Bill’s memory to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation.

Mary Ann Hare, age 76 of Cassville passed away Monday, May 31, 2010 at her home. She was born February 18, 1934 in Monongalia County, a daughter of the late Andrew and Edna Mae Landsberger Javosky.
Mary Ann was a graduate of University High School, where she met her lifelong companion Edward. They courted for three years and enjoyed 58 years of blissful marriage. She was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great grandmother.
Mary Ann loved ceramics which she taught for many years and operated her own ceramic shop which she enjoyed very much. When she wasn’t making ceramics, Mary Ann loved sewing and crocheting or working crossword puzzles.
Mary Ann is survived by her husband of 58 years, Edward Hare, one daughter and spouse, Tina and Michael Willard of Mt. Morris, two sons, Edward Hare and wife Brenda of Days Run, and Troy Hare and companion Kathy King of Cassville, one brother, Wilbert Javosky of Maidsville, one sister, Agnes Durst of Clairton, PA, three granddaughters, Telena, Kayla, and Carmen; and one great grandson, Jordan.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Thursday from 6-8 PM. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Friday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Nate Williamson officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

Mary Ellen Danser Harsh, age 85 of New Jersey Avenue, Westover passed away Friday, December 26, 2008 at her home. She was born May 4, 1923 in Tunnelton a daughter of the late Elmer Roy and Levada Rose Larew Danser.
Mary had been a seamstress at the Bridal Boutique in Westover, and was a member of the Westover Women’s Club and the Red Hat Society.
Mary is survived by one son and spouse, Rickie Layne and Shena Harsh of Westover, two daughters and one spouse, Teresa and Michael Brewer of Morgantown and Levada R. Giesey of Wixon, MI, two sisters, Ethel Liston of Lanham, MD and Mabel Maier of Monaca, PA, grandchildren, Mike Brewer, Bruce Brewer, Mark Brewer, Scott Brewer, Taletha Harsh, Craig Harsh, Michelle Brewer, and Angela Beck and adopted grandson, Nick Citro, great grandchildren, Mateo Rodriguez, Dameon Harsh, Devon Harsh, Amanda Brewer, Bruce Brewer Jr., Karissa Brewer, Derek Brewer, Megan Brewer, Madison Brewer, Elaina Brewer, Emily Brewer, Zachary Brewer, Autumn Haines, Kevin Roberts, Zachary Hackney, Rachael Hackney, Kendall Beck, and Kennedy Beck, and great great grandchildren, Hayden Haines and Ashton Salazar, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Richard Harsh, in 1998 one grandson William Austin eleven brothers and one sister.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to TLC Hospice and especially Stacy Hostetler for her special care and love.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM and on Monday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral service with Rev. Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Pruntytown. The family requests that donations be made in Mary’s name to the Alzheimer’s Association, 1299 Pineview Drive, Morgantown, WV 26505.

Virginia P. Hart, age 73 of Lazzelle Union Road, Morgantown went to her long awaited reward on Saturday, September 11, 2010. She was born September 10, 1937 in Morgantown, WV the daughter of the late Francis and Thelma King. Virginia devoted her life to the care of children including her handicapped daughter Neva Jo Hart and her five granddaughters who were the joy of her life, Brooke Anne Clingerman, Ashton Layne McKee, Breanne Nicole Zackery, Lauren Amanda McKee and Olivia Grace Hart. She was a faithful member of the Riverside Apostolic Church. Virginia was a very loving person and enjoyed cooking and caring for her friends and family.
Virginia is survived by one son, Wayne D. Hart, Jr. and wife Anna Marie, three daughters, Amber Zackery and husband Gayle, Norma McKee and husband Bruce, and Neva Hart all of Morgantown, five granddaughters and grandson-in-law Jason Clingerman, four sisters Thelma Riggleman and husband Sherman of Pennsylvania, Helen Carole of Georgia, Marion Mayhew and husband Bill of Morgantown, Shirley Lewis and husband Ronnie of Morgantown, and three brothers, George King and wife Gene of Illinois, John King and Gene of Iowa, and Francis King, Jr. of Illinois.
Virginia was preceded in death by her husband, Wayne (Dude) Hart, Sr., three brothers, Charles (Jim) King, Frank King and Robert King.
Family and friends may call at the Riverside Apostolic Church from 2-8 PM on Tuesday and from Noon Wednesday until the time of the funeral service which will begin at 1 PM with Rev. David M. Hudson officiating. Burial will follow at the Cedar Grove Cemetery in Mount Morris, Pennsylvania. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Randy Curtis Hartley age 51 of Greensboro, PA passed away Saturday, July 24, 2010.
He was born September 19, 1958 in Waynesburg, PA a son of Edward Carl and Shirley Helen Keener Hartley of Mt. Morris, PA.
Randy was a coal miner with Emerald Coal Mine and was a member of the United Mine Workers Local # 2258. He was an outdoorsman, who loved boating and motorcycles, but his favorite activity was spending time with his family. Randy was a loving husband, father, grandfather and son, who touched many lives and will be sadly missed.
In addition to his parents, Randy is survived by his wife of 31 years Jenny Myers Hartley, three sons, Curtis Carl Hartley and wife Jodi of Garards Fort, PA, Travis John Hartley and wife Ranelle of Carmichaels, PA and Bradley Allen Hartley of Greensboro, PA, one granddaughter, Prudence Hartley and two brothers, Jimmy Hartley and wife Cindy and niece, Alyssa and Roger Hartley and wife Diane and nieces, Rachael and Hannah.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Tuesday from 2-5 & 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Fred Tomlinson officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery Mausoleum.

Maxine Haught Courtney, 91, of Savannah Street, Westover, passed away Sunday, July 4, 2010, at Mapleshire Nursing Home.
She was born March 31, 1919, in West Union, WV, a daughter of the late Jesse and Lena Ash Haught and a niece of Jesse and Bessie Haught Knight who raised her.
Mrs. Courtney was a life member of Ladies Auxiliary to VFW Post 548, where she was also employed for many years.
Mrs. Courtney is survived by a son, James William Courtney and wife Lorna of Liverpool, NY; a daughter-in-law, JoAnn Erisey Courtney of St. Charles, MO; a daughter Marianne Courtney of Westover; six grandchildren, Danielle Marie Courtney, Christine Elise Courtney McCormick and husband Kevin, September Loraine Courtney, William R. Courtney and wife Sandy, John D. Courtney, and William C. Courtney; 3 great-grandchildren, Stephen McCormick, Rachel McCormick, and Jack Ryan Courtney; and a brother Glenn R. Haught of Meadowbrook, WV.
Mrs. Courtney was preceded in death by her husband of 59 years, John D. “Jack” Courtney, who died July 2, 1997; a son, David R. Courtney; 3 brothers, Duane, Andy, and Bill Haught; and a sister, Madeline.
In lieu of flowers, Mrs. Courtney requested donations be made to the American Diabetic Association and the American Cancer Society.
Honoring Mrs. Courtney’s wishes, there will be no funeral services. Interment will be at Beverly Hills Cemetery. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of the arrangements

Dorothy M. Hawkins, age 92, formerly of Cheat Lake, passed away Monday, September 22, 2008 at the Madison Rehabilitation Center. She was born December 17, 1915 in Bruceton Mills, a daughter of the late Roy and Dacie Ryan Wheeler.
Dorothy was a retired secretary from WVU and attended the Maranatha Church of God. Dorothy was big hearted and loving and was a very outgoing social person. Her family was her life. She also enjoyed music and dancing.
Dorothy is survived by four sons and their spouses, Howard and Rebecca Areford of Godfrey, IL, Harry and Wanda Areford of Morgantown, Allen and Marilee Areford of Morgantown, and Avalon K. and Debbie Hawkins of Maryville, TN, three daughters and spouses, Carol and Frank Sliker of Westminster, MD, Ruth and Vaughn Baker of Sikeston, Missouri, and Linda Longstreth Mills and husband Bobby of Morgantown, one sister and spouse, Betty and Lawrence Hawkins of Pt. Marion, PA, 23 grandchildren, 29 great grandchildren and 2 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by one infant son and four brothers.
Friends may call from 7-9 PM Wednesday at the McCulla Funeral Home and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the noon funeral service with Rev. Craig Falkenstine officiating. Judith Ann Hawkins, age 68 of Union Church Hollow, Morgantown passed away Monday, March 2, 2009 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born November 1, 1940 in Morgantown a daughter of the late Charles and Beulah Shafer Malone.
Judith was a homemaker and attended the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church. Her favorite times were spent loving her grandchildren and being with her husband in church. Judy’s love of children extended beyond her own family, as she had always been actively involved with youth groups throughout her life. She was an outgoing, friendly individual, who always made everybody feel like they were family.
Judy is survived by her husband of 43 years Frank Hawkins, one daughter and spouse, Carol and Ralph Pyles of Morgantown, two sons and spouses, Timothy Dale and Amy Hawkins, and Patrick E. and Dana Hawkins both of Morgantown, one daughter-in-law Tina May Hawkins of Morgantown, one brother and spouse, William K. and Dorothy Malone of Morgantown and five grandchildren, Greg Hawkins, Ally Hawkins, Brooke Pyles, Cody Hawkins, and Nathan Gribble, and several nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly.
Her son Randall F. Hawkins preceded Judy in death.
Friends may call at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church 540 Fairmont Road on Thursday from 3-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 1:00 PM at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. Rev. Benny Higginbotham Sr., age 66, of Core went home to be with the Lord on June 15, 2008 at 2:30 PM at home surrounded by his loving family. He was born May 23, 1942 in Morgantown, a son of the late Sherman and Thelma Stewart Higginbotham.
Benny was a licensed Minister through Evangelical Christian Inc. for 33 years. He attended several churches, was the pastor of two churches and the assistant pastor of two churches. In addition he provided a rest home ministry and operated a prison ministry.
He and his beloved wife, MaryAnn are the owners of Ben’s Auto Sales, wrecking, and recycling for 36 years until he retired due to his health.
Benny is survived by his beloved wife of 47 years, MaryAnn Ross Higginbotham, three sons and two spouses, Benny and Shanee Higginbotham of Morgantown, Brett O. Higginbotham of Stockbridge, GA, and Matthew and Melissa Church Higginbotham of Core, two daughters, Cloressa Higginbotham Beatty and spouse Steven Ray Beatty of Rivesville, Verronica Irene Higginbotham Willis of Fairmont and former spouse Kenneth Leroy Willis of Monongah, two former daughters-in-law, Beth Ellen Eddy Higginbotham-Stewart of Jakes Run and Tammy Lee Davis Higginbotham of Unionville, VA, nine grandchildren, Jason Higginbotham and spouse Amanda of Jakes Run, Vaneesha Higginbotham Crowe and spouse Raymond of Stockbridge, GA, Valeesha Higginbotham of Stockbridge, GA, John Benny Matheny, Charles Leroy Matheny Jr., Joshua Adam Matheny, Micayla Irene Willis, Kassandra Nicole Willis, and Cyann Elizabeth Willis, two step grandchildren, Jason Wells and Matthew Massey, one great granddaughter, Jasmine Brooke Crowe, and one step great granddaughter, Halie Nicole Massey, one brother Jimmy Higginbotham and spouse Shirley of Clarksburg, one sister, Terry Higginbotham Bruimmage of Spraggs, PA, several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and cousins.
One sister, Kay Higginbotham Bosley Shephard, one brother, Roger Higginbotham, two nephews and three brothers-in-law preceded Benny in death.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Richard Fluharty officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.

William “Bill” Hillberry, 78, of Westover passed away on Tuesday, May 18, 2010 at Mon General Hospital. Bill was born on December 1, 1931inHolt, WV a son of the late Okey Clark Hillberry and Viola L. Jackson Hillberry.
Bill was a longtime Westover businessman; he owned and operated Riverside Park, Kuhn’s Appliance and Furniture, and the Magic Waterbed Outlet. When not working, Bill could always be found golfing, as he was an avid golfer.
Bill is survived by one daughter Kimberly Brewer and her spouse John Brewer, Jr. of Westover, two sons Challen and his spouse Sharon Hillberry, of Kokomo, Indiana and William Hillberry, Jr., of Westover, five grandchildren, John Brewer III, Christopher Brewer, Michael Hillberry, Alex Hillberry, and William Hillberry III, and two great-grandchildren Maya Kathryn Hillberry and Olivia Challyn Hillberry.
In addition to his parents, Bill was preceded in death by his loving wife, Carol D. Hillberry and two infant brothers Okey and Samuel Hillberry, who both died at birth.
Family and friends may call at St. Francis de Sales Church, 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown from 6:30 – 8:30 pm on Thursday. Funeral services will be held on Friday at 10:00 am at St. Francis de Sales Church with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Bill’s memory to Blanchette Rockefeller Neurosciences Institute, 8 Med Center Drive Morgantown, WV 26505-3409, St. Francis de Sales Music Ministry or St. Francis de Sales Church at 1 Guthrie Lane, Morgantown, WV 26508.
