Sylvia Cuppett Markley passed away Friday, August 22, 2008 at her home in El Dorado, Arkansas. She was born April 17, 1917 in Albert, West Virginia, the daughter of William M and Minnie May Paugh. She graduated from Thomas High School in 1935 and lived most of her adult life in Morgantown, West Virginia, before moving to Arkansas in 1994.
Mrs. Markley worked in a variety of positions at West Virginia University’s Boreman Hall and retired as Head of Housekeeping from that Hall.
She was active in the Methodist Church. While a member of Highland Park and Booth-Union Methodist Church , she particularly liked working with the youth, church growth, and outreach. In El Dorado, she taught Sunday school at St. Paul United Methodist Church until her eyesight failed her.
Survivors include three daughters, Lenora Grosselin, Cincinnati, Ohio; Frances (Herbert ) McIntosh, Port Huron, Michigan; Jean Eckert (Steve) Amspaugh, El Dorado, Arkansas; One son, William “Ted” (Debbie) Cuppett, Morgantown; Fifteen Grandchildren and 25 Great Grandchildren. She was preceded in death by two husbands, Herbert G. Cuppett and Dana M. Markley; and an infant son, Herbert Glenn Cuppett.
Funeral service will be held at 10:30 a.m. on Tuesday, August 25, at the William McCulla Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Betty McBee officiating. Interment will be in Mt. Union Cemetery. Family visitation will be held Monday, August 24, from 2:00-4:00 p.m and 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the McCulla Funeral Home.
IN lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Booth-Union United Methodist Church % Kay Pompili, 2970 River Road, Morgantown, WV 26501; or Life Touch Hospice, 2301 Champagnolle Road, El Dorado AR 71730.

Frank E. Marstiller, age 58 of Collins Ferry Road, Morgantown passed away Wednesday, April 21, 2010 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. Frank was born December 3, 1951 in Houston, TX a son of the late Donnie Bruce and Edith Louise Gabbert Marstiller.
If you ever had the pleasure of meeting Frank, he would have certainly left a warming impression on you.
Frank had been employed as the manager of Marstillers Mobile Home Park of Morgantown and was a Christian by faith.
Frank is survived by one son, Shane Michael Marstiller of Bluffton, SC, one daughter Amy Beth Marstiller of Morgantown, his fiancé, Carol Piatt, one brother Jeffrey Marstiller of Morgantown and one grandson Brandon Alexander.
Frank was preceded in death by one brother, Don Marstiller.
Whether you knew him as Frank, dad, brother, uncle, or friend, he will greatly be missed by everyone. We love, and will always miss you.
As per Frank’s request, there will be no funeral service. McCulla Funeral Home will provide cremation services

June “Riley” Martin, 79, passed away at the home of her daughter, Melanie Martin Waggett, and son-in law, Gregory Alan Waggett, in Morgantown, West Virginia, on Tuesday, September 1, 2009, after losing her battle with cancer.
June was born to Esther Faehnel Riley and Albert F. “Casey” Riley of La Crosse, WI. June was educated at: St Agnes Catholic School, St Paul, Minn; St. James Catholic School, La Crosse, Wisconsin; Aquinas High School, La Crosse, Wisconsin; Hawaii Pacific College, Honolulu, Hawaii; and San Diego City College, San Diego, California.
June enjoyed a career in cosmetics and was highly regarded in her field. She worked for major corporations in the industry including Chanel, Estee Lauder, Elizabeth Arden and Max Factor. As a regional sales manager for Elizabeth Arden, in the southern California area, June received numerous awards for outstanding achievement in sales. June was very artistic and her hobbies included sewing, quilting, floral design, traveling, and fishing.
June was preceded in death by her parents, Esther and Albert Riley, and her sister, Margaret J. Riley Hilliker, of Lodi, Wisconsin. June is survived by two sons, Jackie Nile Fry, Jr., formerly of La Crosse, WI, and Marty Joe Martin, Dothan, AL; daughter, Melanie Martin Waggett, Morgantown, WV; daughter-in-law, Celeste Hart Martin; son-in-law, Gregory Alan Waggett; grandson, Michael David Martin, Largo, FL; three sisters, Helen Riley Naysmith, Piedmont, AL, Patricia Riley Moore, La Crosse, WI, and Mary Jane Riley Coco, St. Johns, AZ; two brothers, William Thomas Riley, Soap Lake, WA, and Michael Patrick Riley, Cedarburg, WI; two sisters-in-law, Sue and Renate Riley; and one brother-in-law, Ronald Naysmith.
McCulla Funeral Home has provided cremation services.

Victor H. Martin of Richland Ave., Morgantown, died Monday, May 18, 2009 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. He was born in Alima, WV, a son of the late Carl Benjamin and Nina G. Fletcher Martin.
He had been self-employed in construction and home building and attended the Living by Faith Church. He enjoyed playing gospel music on his violin and the musical saw.
He is survived by a sister, Pauline Ruth Martin of Rivesville; and many friends, including very close friend Wayne Davis.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Juanita Snyder Martin and a brother, Carl Homer Martin.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Wednesday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Thursday at McCulla Funeral Home with Pastor Ernest Frymyer officiating. Burial will follow at the IOOF Cemetery in Farmington.

Vernia Louise Martin Reich, age 81 of the Golden Living Center, Morgantown, formerly of Brookhaven, passed away Friday, September 5, 2008 at Monongalia General Hospital. She was born May 7, 1927 in Junior, WV a daughter of the late George and Follie Jane Clouston Estep and a granddaughter of Cordella Ann Estep who raised her.
Vernia had been employed as a home health aide at Unity Manor and had worked as a nurse’s aide at WVU Hospital and Sundale Nursing Home. She was an active member of the First Christian Church and delivered for Meals on Wheels.
Vernia is survived by three daughters, Emma Jean Muth and husband Michael of Wasilla, Alaska, Nellie Lakatos and husband Robert (Bo) of Westover and Stella Fullmer and husband Dennis of Granville; two sons, Raymond Martin and wife Janet of Brookhaven and Leonard Martin and wife Wanda of Morgantown; twelve grandchildren and fifteen great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two husbands, Raymond Martin and James Reich and one brother Bud Estep.
Cremation services were provided by McCulla Funeral Home and graveside services will be held on Saturday, September 13, 2008 at 11:00 AM at East Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Rick Howard officiating.

Mary Louise Melenric, age 86 of Madison Avenue, Morgantown passed away Wednesday, May 14, 2008 at Ruby Memorial Hospital. She was born November 8, 1921 in LeRoy, WV a daughter of the late Rev. Daniel and Susan Daugherty Cain.
Mary was employed at several downtown businesses, working at the A & P Store, Gray’s Pharmacy, and retired from Friend’s Clover Farm. Mary enjoyed vacations at the beach, traveling anywhere by car, and creating some of the best learning centers from home as a volunteer teaching assistant for her daughter, Susie. She was a devoted and loving mother and was a Methodist by faith.
Mary is survived by one daughter, Susan Melenric of Morgantown, one sister Ruth Camp of Westover, a special niece, Nancy Cain of Westover and her devoted dog, Ashley.
She was preceded in death by two sisters, Anna Sherry and Nellie Dadisman, and three brothers, George Cain, Cecil Cain and Bill Cain.
Friends may call from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Friday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held on Saturday at 11:00 AM at the McCulla Funeral Home with Revs. Kevin Cain and Jo McCartney officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

Frances Arvilla Merico, age 81 of Montrose Avenue, Morgantown passed away Sunday, May 3, 2009 at her home. She was born October 2, 1927 in Ritchie County a daughter of the late Calvin and Sena Martin Templeton.
Frances had worked for several local businesses, including the Hotel Morgan, Lakeview, and Kappa Kappa Gamma.
Frances is survived by two daughters and spouses, Patricia Lynn and Ricky L. Ward and Toni Larea and Jeffrey K. Bissett all of Morgantown, two sisters Gertrude Scadden and Juanita Taylor both of St. Marys, WV, grandchildren, Jeffrey and Zachary Sizer, Stefan Gatlin, Michael and Christina Jackson, Heather Rosiak, Benjamin and Sarah Bissett, her dear friend, Betty Taft of Westover, eight great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Frances was preceded in death by her husband, Tony Charles Merico and eleven brothers and sisters.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Tuesday and on Wednesday from noon until the 2:00 PM funeral service with Pastor Craig Falkenstine officiating. Burial will follow at Bethel Cemetery. The family would like to extend special thanks to TLC Hospice for their care

Roger L. Mersing, age 68 of Bruceton Mills went to be with the Lord surrounded by his loving wife and family on Wednesday, August 12, 2009 at Heartland of Preston County. He was born May 30, 1941 in Crellin, MD a son of Thelma Lucille Liston Mersing of Valley Point and the late Charles L. Mersing.
Roger was a self-employed worldwide consulting engineer for the technology industry working in the United States, China, and Hong Kong. He had previously been employed by NASA and was a graduate of West Virginia University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Physics. Roger enjoyed playing the saxophone and was an active and integral part of HOPE Church. He was an avid astronomer and was a loving and giving grandfather.
Holding him in loving memory in addition to his mother is his loving and devoted wife Sharon Seebaugh Mersing, one daughter and spouse, Deborah and Sam Chaudhuri of Newton, KS, one son Scott Mersing of Masontown, two step-daughters, Missi White of South Beach, FL and Kimberly George and husband John of Granville, one step-son, David White of Morgantown, one sister, Linda Paradis of Valley Point, three granddaughters, Haley, Morgan, and Madison, four grandsons, Nick, Brandon, Jesse, and Ryan, two step-grandchildren, Kayla and John Michael George, a special brother and sister-in-law, David and Charlotte Vincent of Vincent, OH and a special niece, Amanda May Sypolt.
In addition to his father, two sisters, Mary Ann Mersing May and an infant, Carolyn Sue Mersing, also preceded Roger in death.
Friends may call at the HOPE Church, 520 Hornbeck Road, Morgantown below the Grafton Road Walmart on Friday from 4:00-8:00 PM. Visitation will also be held on Saturday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM funeral service with Rev. M. A. Donham and Rev. Joseph Donham officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Moriah Cemetery in Valley Point. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements

Mary Michael, 91, of Monongahela Ave, Westover died Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Sundale Nursing Home. She was born December 27, 1917 in Detroit, MI a daughter of the late Charles and Stella Blysciev Yaromy.
Mary had been a faithful employee at several businesses, including a shirt factory and a coal mine company store. She was most recently was owner/operator of Michael’s Mobile Home Park. She loved quilting and was a member of St. John University Parish.
She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Judy D. and Stanley Dlugos of Morgantown and Charlotte A. and Adam Scott of Crisfield, MD; a son and spouse, Allen M. and Charlotte Michael of Morgantown; a sister, Pearl Martin of Elkins; four grandchildren, Mark and Todd Dlugos and Gregory and Matthew Cain, several great grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.
Mary was preceded in death by her husband Murl Mathew Michael, two sisters, Ann Jerdonek and Sophie Danish, and three brothers, Alec Yaromy, Mike Yaromy, and Charles Yaromy Jr.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Monday from 3-5 & 7-9 PM with a 7:00 PM Vigil Service. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 10:00 AM Tuesday at St. Johns Catholic Church with Father Dan Pisano as celebrant. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.

Evelyn Miker - On Wednesday, May 12, 2010 the Lord came to Monongalia General Hospital and received Evelyn Miker age 81 of the River Road into his loving arms. Evelyn was born September 18, 1928 in Adamsville, WV a daughter of the late Earl P. and Alverta Shomo Slaughter.
Evelyn was a homemaker and a member of the Booth –Union United Methodist Church. Evelyn enjoyed gospel and country music but her greatest joy in life was being a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. She loved generously and was loved by all, especially the many children she came in contact with.
Evelyn is survived by her husband of fifty-four years, Steve Miker Sr., one son, Steve Miker Jr. and wife Joyce of Shinnston, two daughters Karen Nichols and husband Gary of Fairmont, and Debra Cline of Westover, grandchildren, Melissa, Chrissy, Tiffany and Joshua Nichols and Julie, Eric, and Donielle Miker, and one sister Ruth Robinson of Morgantown.
Evelyn was preceded in death by her son-in-law Ronald Cline, four sisters, Kathleen McCann, Lucille Arnett, Martha Rohrbough, and Myrtle Lowther, and four brothers, Dale Slaughter, Stanley Slaughter, Ralph Slaughter, and Denzil Slaughter.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Brian Arthurs, Beth Thewlis, and the staffs of Monongalia General Hospital, Ruby Hospital, Golden Living Center, and the Tygart Center for their kindness and care.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Morgantown from 3-5 & 7-9 PM Friday and on Saturday from 11:30 AM until the 1:30 PM Funeral service with Rev. Betty McBee officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hills Cemetery.
