Robert Allen Walden, 58 went to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 24, 2008 at his home in Westover with his wife and daughter by his side. He fought a courageous battle dealing with Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma and Leukemia for the past ten years.
Bob was born May 28, 1949 in Morgantown a son of the late Carl “Blackie” and Ann “Honey” Pompura Walden.
Bob is survived by his wife of 26 years, Donna Neely Walden and daughter, Nicole Walden at home. Father and mother-in-law, Wayne and Shirley Neely of Laurel Point, brother, Gary Walden and wife Tina of Morgantown, sisters Cindy Walden of Westover, Beverly Mikluscak and husband Andrew of Omaha, NE, Carla Sellaro and husband Anthony of Morgantown, seven nieces and nephews, Lori and Ryan Mikluscak of Omaha, NE, Brian and Tiffany Walden, Erica and Rachel Sellaro, and Steven Andryzcik all of Morgantown, and his three favorite aunts, Sue Sidwell, Helen Mandarano, and Bea Prutilpac.
Bob graduated in 1967 from Morgantown High School where he lettered in football for two years under Coach Vic Bonfili. He graduated in 1972 from West Virginia University Magna Cum Laude with a bachelor’s degree in mathematics and secondary education.
He taught math at Riverside Junior High school for nine years and organized and coached the first Riverside Junior High Football Team. He then taught at Westover Junior High until his retirement in 1984. He then devoted his time to his rental properties and spending nearly every weekend traveling the state of West Virginia with his wife and daughter. Bob loved camping, fishing, and vacationing at Ocean City with his family. He was noted for his extraordinary garden, growing the largest tomatoes in Westover and for the past four years he was a big supporter of the UHS Volleyball team where his daughter, Nicole played.
Friends will be received at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover on Wednesday, April 30, 2008 from 3-5 PM. A memorial service celebrating Bob’s life will begin at 5:00 PM with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

James Raymond “Ray” Walker, 85, of Westover died Saturday, July 5, 2008 at The Golden Living Center. He was born February 8, 1923 in Morgantown, a son of the late James C. and Marie A. Okonak Walker.
James had retired as a technician from Coburn Dental Labs and had served in the US Army, being honorably discharged in October 1943.
He is survived by a niece, Donna Walker Cook of Bethel Park, PA; and a sister-in-law, Rose Walker of Westover.
He was preceded in death by a sister, Alice M. Wilson; and a brother, Donald C. Walker.
A private burial service was held on Tuesday, July 8, 2008 at East Oak Grove Cemetery with Rev. Sammie Pride officiating. Military honors were conducted by Westover VFW Post 9916 and the WV Honor Guard of Camp Dawson. McCulla Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.

Helen Kimble Waters, a longtime resident of Morgantown, died on Monday, August 17, 2009 in Annandale, Virginia at the age of 87. She was born in Davis, WV a daughter of the late Berkley and Minnie Harmon Kimble.
Helen is survived by her two sons William (and Janice) and John (and Olga), and two grandchildren Danielle and Joel Waters. She was preceded in death by her husband William Donald Waters, and her siblings Theodore Kimble, Mary Phillips, Leah Mae Kimble, Clarence Kimble and Herbert Kimble. She was a devoted wife and mother who combined a full time career with raising a family. Helen adored her two grandchildren and was very proud of their many academic and musical accomplishments. She worked as administrative assistant for the Dean of Physical Education at West Virginia University for 31 years, was an avid Mountaineer fan and an award winning quilter. She was an active member at the Wesley United Methodist church and assistant in many church functions.
Friends may call from 7-9 PM Thursday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Graveside services will be held at Beverly Hills Cemetery at 1:00 PM Friday with Rev. Michael Atkinson officiating.

Ezekial Caleb (Zek) Watson age 13 of Sierra Farm Road, Morgantown entered the gates of Heaven with God’s arms opened wide on Friday, August 27, 2010. Zek was born in Morgantown on February 7, 1997.
Zek was a student at Westwood Middle School. He loved contact sports and was a member of the football, lacrosse, and wrestling team. Zek loved the outdoors and enjoyed hunting and fishing, especially with his uncle Charlie. Like any growing boy, Zek enjoyed eating, whether it was cooking his own famous hot wings or eating out at Cheddars. Being a patient of Tourettes Syndrome, never embarrassed Zek and he faithfully attended Tourettes Camp each summer.
Zek was a loving, outgoing, confident child. He made friends easily and loved them all. He was a special person who will be missed.
Zek is survived by his mother, Christine Glover of Morgantown, his father, Anthony Watson of Midlothian, VA, grandparents, Linda (Nanny) and Carl (Pappy) Glover of Morgantown, and grandma Dorothy and Pap Paw Louie Watson of Parkersburg, great-grandparents, Bonnie McCabe of Morgantown, and Phyllis and Carl Glover of Everettville, aunts and uncles, Melissa and Charlie Lilly and their child and his dear cousin Matison of Lewisburg, Anita and Joe Moore of Buchannon, and Shanda Watson, Nathan Watson, John Watson, and Holly Watson all of Parkersburg, and several great-aunts, uncles and cousins.
The family will receive friends at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church, 540 Fairmont Road, Westover on Monday from 6-8 PM and on Tuesday from 1-4 & 6-9 PM. Funeral services will be held at the Kingdom Evangelical Methodist Church on Wednesday at 11:00 AM with Pastor Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Pisgah Cemetery. McCulla Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Edyth F. Weaver, 91 of Westover, passed away Tuesday, May 12 at the Golden Living Center.
She was born September 19, 1917, in Wana, WV. She was the daughter of the late Clarence Gurney Fox and Grace Lee Stiles Fox.
Edyth’s greatest joy was loving her children and grandchildren. She started her teaching career in a one room school near Pursglove at the Bailey School and continued with the Monongalia County school system until she retired. She was a member of the Riverside Methodist Church in Westover.
Edyth is survived by one daughter, Judy Ann Hose and husband Jack Lee Hose of Westover, one step-son, Larry Stuber of Germany, two sisters, Mary Evelyn Moore and late husband William of Washington, PA, Erma Lee Dallam and late husband Harold of Norristown, PA, 4 grandchildren, and 7 great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Edward Earl Weaver, one daughter, Kathy Kirby, and sister Eva Marie Norwine and husband George.
Friends may call from 7pm to 9pm Thursday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 am Friday at McCulla Funeral Home with Pastors Kevin Cain and Larry Peters officiating. Burial will follow at Beverly Hill Cemetery.

Leroy C. Welch, age 73 of Buckeye Road, Morgantown passed away Saturday, January 2, 2009 at his home. He was born May 18, 1936 in Cassville, WV a son of the late Warren and Golda Clevenger Welch.
Leroy was a retired coal miner from the Arkwright Mine and was a member of the UMWA Local # 5058. He loved hunting and fishing and enjoyed being a handyman and helping other people with home repairs.
Leroy is survived by his wife Dortha Tennant Welch, three daughters, Deborah McKee and Cathy LaFace both of Pittsburgh and Kathern Willard and husband Aaron of Core, one son, Randel Welch and wife Lisa of Morgantown, one sister, Betty Throckmorton of Westover, ten grandchildren, Randy McKee Jr., Nathan McKee, Rebecca McKee, Angela LaFace, Amanda LaFace, Laura LaFace, Amy Copeland, Matthew Welch, Madison Willard, and Bailey Willard and two great grandchildren, Nicholas McKee and Danielle Vidal.
Leroy was preceded in death by his step-son, John Copeland, his son-in-law Randy McKee, one brother George Welch and a brother-in-law, Joseph Throckmorton.
Friends may call from 3- 5 & 7-9 PM Monday at the McCulla Funeral Home. Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Tuesday at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Kevin Cain officiating. Burial will follow at Olive Cemetery.

Stanley West, age 82 of Morgantown went to be with his Lord on Monday, November 3, 2008 at his home. He was born June 1, 1926 in Morgantown a son of the late Enlo Q. and Alta Price West.
Stanley had been employed at the Albright Power Plant for over 20 years and had also been self-employed. He was a Christian by faith and his hobbies were work, traveling, and being around his dogs.
Stanley is survived by his wife of 53 years, Elizabeth “Sally” Weaver West, three daughters, Kathy J. Matheny and husband Bert of Morgantown, Janet L. Radford and husband Dennis of Morgantown and Jennifer F. West of Morgantown, one brother, Larry Britton and wife Carolyn of Morgantown, three grandchildren, Jared, Jackie, and Christopher, one great grandchild, Kamille, one sister-in-law Lillian M. Alkire of Morgantown, and one brother-in-law Richard Persyn of Texas and several nieces and nephews.
Stanley was preceded in death by his son, Stephen D. West, two sisters, Elmaya West Persyn, and Genevieve West Craig and one brother, Enlo Junior West.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Wednesday from 3-7 PM and on Thursday from 10:00 AM until the 11:00 AM Funeral service with Pastor Ronald M. Thorn officiating. Burial will follow at Halleck Cemetery.

Helen Lee Ringer Whetzel, 89 of Stewarts Run, Morgantown, went to join her beloved “Pappy” in the early morning of July 26, 2012. She slipped peacefully into the arms of the Lord at her home, surrounded by her loving family.
Helen was born August 31, 1922 in Preston County, WV a daughter of the late Wayne Ringer and Olive Davis Ringer.
She was a longtime employee of G.C.Murphy on High Street. She also raised three children and ran a working farm alongside her husband. She was a longtime member of Trinity Assembly of God in Fairmont and later attended the Booth-Union United Methodist Church.
Helen loved her family and friends and loved to spend time with them. There was never a dull moment when “Granny” was around; she kept everyone in stitches with jokes and anecdotes. She was a longtime member of the Monongalia County Homemakers Association (CEOs), where she was constantly pulling pranks, telling jokes and stories, or dressing up in costume and performing a skit. In 1994, she was the Monongalia County “County Belle,” and represented Mon County in the WV State Folk Festival in Glenville, WV.
Helen overcame many struggles and hardships in her life and became a woman always admired by her family and friends for her strength, character, and faith. Her kindness and love were a blessing to all who knew her.
Those left behind to cherish her memory include: her daughter, Judy Phillips and her husband, John of Morgantown; two sons Virgil Whetzel, Jr. and his wife, Linda of Morgantown and David Whetzel and his wife Leanna Jo of Pentress; six grandchildren, Michael Whetzel, of Whispering Pines, NC, Cathy Whetzel of Morgantown, Elaine Riffle of Morgantown, Scott Phillips of Morgantown, Jason Whetzel of Morgantown, and Wayne “Rocky” Whetzel of Morgantown; two step grandchildren J.W. Haught III and Tiffany Haught, both of Morgantown; 16 great-grandchildren; and 1 great-great grandson. In addition, two honorary grandchildren, her neighbors, Howard and Brooke Mearns, who treated Helen as their own Granny.
In addition to her parents, Helen was met at heaven’s gate by her loving husband of 65 years, Virgil L. Whetzel, Sr., and two brothers Charles Ringer and James Ringer.
The family wishes to thank Helen’s loving caregiver, Lena Lewis, for her compassionate care over the last three and a half years and for the support given to her family. The staff of Morgantown Hospice was instrumental in enabling her to live out her last few months at her home comfortably and with dignity. To show the family’s appreciation, they have asked that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Helen’s memory to Morgantown Hospice at P.O. Box 4222 Morgantown, WV 26505.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday, July 29 from 3-5 & 7-9 pm. Funeral services will be held at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, July 30, 2012 at 11 am with Rev. Ray Crabtree officiating. Interment will follow at the West Virginia National Cemetery in Pruntytown, WV.

David S. Whetzel Jr., age 79 of Fairmont passed away Saturday, October 4, 2008 at his home. He was born October 31, 1928 in Dakota, WV a son of the late David S. and Lelia B. Judy Whetzel Sr.
David was the owner of Whetzel’s Bait and Tackle shop in Fairmont and had previously worked for the Bethlehem Steel Coal Mines in Barrackville. He was a United States Navy Veteran and his hobbies were hunting and fishing.
David is survived by one daughter, Suzanne Whetzel of Morgantown, two sons and spouses, Daniel A. and Paula Whetzel of Morgantown and Kevin G. and Valerie Whetzel of Morgantown, four sisters, Ann James of Courtland, OH, Jean Ayers of Daytona Beach, FL, Loraine Reese of Midland, Michigan, and Loretta Faulkiner of Prince George, VA, seven grandchildren, Steven Whetzel, Chad Whetzel, Jeremy Whetzel, Josh Keenan, Melisa Keenan, Kevin Whetzel II, and Kyle Whetzel, and three great grandsons, Daniel, Brandon, and Tyler.
David was preceded in death by his second wife, Norma T. Whetzel, one daughter, Kimberly Ann Keenan, one son, Joseph Clark Whetzel, one sister, Edna Myers, and three brothers, Clyde, Virgil and Vernon Whetzel.
Cremation services will be provided and the family will receive friends at the McCulla Funeral Home, 770 Fairmont Road, Westover on Thursday from 7-9 PM. Memorial services will be held on Friday at 11:00 AM at the McCulla Funeral Home with Rev. Ray Crabtree officiating. The family requests that donations be made in David’s memory to the American Cancer Society, South Atlantic Division, Inc., Attn: Memorial Gifts, 4240 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, VA 23060.
