Jacob Clayton “Woody” Wood

Jacob Clayton “Woody” Wood, 23, of Morgantown passed away on Tuesday, July 24, 2012 at his home. Jacob was born in Morgantown on September 24, 1988 to Richard W. and Bonnie Austin Wood, of Morgantown.
Jacob was a 2006 graduate of Morgantown High School and a member of Monongalia County 4-H. Jacob touched many lives while in 4-H, his influence reached far beyond Monongalia County. Jacob was also a member of Goshen Baptist Church.
Jacob was a kind, outgoing, and loving person. He was best described by a friend who wrote, “I don’t think anyone has ever shaken Jacob’s hand unless, of course, he was pulling you towards him at 100 mph for a giant bear hug.”
In addition to his parents, those left behind to cherish his memory include his sister, Morgan Anne Wood, of Morgantown; maternal grandmother Shirley R. Austin, of Morgantown; three uncles, Jeffrey D. Austin and his wife Cherie of Lewisburg, Wallace I. “Nick” Wood and his wife Birdie of Ripley, WV, and James B. “Jim” Wood and his wife Doris of Martinsburg; several cousins and numerous friends.
Jacob was preceded in death by his maternal grandfather, J. Dale Austin and his paternal grandparents, Walker and Rose Wood.
The family requests that in lieu of flowers, contributions be made in Jacob Wood’s memory to a Monongalia County 4-H Scholarship Fund that has been created at the WVU Extension Office at 34 Commerce Drive Suite 106, Morgantown, WV 26501. Checks should be made payable to the Monongalia County 4-H Foundation.
Friends may call at Community United Methodist Church, 1966 Grafton Road, Morgantown on Friday, July 27 from 2-8 pm and on Saturday, July 28 at the Clinton District Fire Hall from 12, noon, until the 1 pm memorial service with Rev. Gary Helms officiating. Cremation services will be provided by McCulla Funeral Home.

Mary Elizabeth Yelich

Mary Elizabeth Yelich, age 79 of Gypsy, WV formerly of Morgantown passed away Friday, July 17, 2009 at her home. She was born October 2, 1929 in Morgantown a daughter of the late James and Lillian Uphold McMillen.
Mary had been employed as the cook at the WVU Residence Halls and was a Baptist by faith. Her hobbies were fishing, gardening and cooking.
Mary is survived by two daughters, Patty Ferrell of Gypsy, and Barbara Tupes and husband Tom of Morgantown, four sons and spouses, John “Butch” and Pam Yelich of Weirton, Albert and Shelia Yelich of Fairmont, John “Jack” and Brenda Cox of Weirton, and George and Peggy Yelich of Fairmont, one sister, Madonna Dilsworth of Kingwood, six brothers Dale McMillen and wife Jenny of PA, Junior McMillen of OH, Bill McMillen and wife Shirley of PA, Bob McMillen and wife Betty of Morgantown, Jim McMillen of AZ, and Roger McMillen of Fairmont, 19 grandchildren and 27 great grandchildren, and many nieces and nephews.
Her husband, John Paul Yelich, one daughter, Beverly Newbraugh, one sister, Alice Richards and four brothers preceded Mary in death.
Friends may call at the McCulla Funeral Home on Sunday from 2-4 & 7-9 PM. Funeral services will be held on Monday at 11:00 AM at McCulla Funeral Home with Pastor Barbara Hamrick officiating. Burial will follow at Arnettsville Cemetery.

Juanita M. West

Juanita M. West, 88, of Clarksburg, formerly of Hildebrand Community, outside of Morgantown passed away at the home of her niece, Paula Critchfield,where she made her home for the last three years on Saturday, January 26, 2013.
Juanita was born on March 8, 1924 in Carolina, WV to the late Jesse and Della Perkins Lamp.
Juanita was a homemaker and enjoyed spending time with her family. She was a seamstress for most of her life and loved to bowl.
In addition to her caregiver and niece, Paula Critchfield and her husband Mark, Juanita is survived by her brother Russell Lamp and his wife Marie of Morgantown; two sisters Mary Tinney of Good Hope, WV and Daisy Carder and her husband Kenneth of OH; and several nieces and nephews.
Preceding her in death, in addition to her parents, include her husband, Okey West; four brothers, John, Orville, Jesse “Jack” and Archie Lamp; and four sisters Rachel Smith, Phyllis Smith,Dorothy Conrad, and Thelma Milik.
Friends may call at McCulla Funeral Home on Monday, January 28 from 4-6 PM. Funeral services will be held at McCulla Funeral Home at 6 pm with Pastor Brian Kiehl. In honoring Juanita’s wishes, her body will be cremated following the services.

Eathel Yoho
February 1, 2009
Yoho, Eathel F., 98, of Moundsville, WV formerly of Silver Hill, WV died Sunday, February 1, 2009 at New Martinsville Health Care Center.

Eathel was born March 26, 1910 in Silver Hill, WV, daughter of the late Frenzy and Ida Baker Miller.

She was a homemaker and member of Hillview Terrace Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Truman J. Yoho; two sons, Garth Yoho and Boyd Yoho; two brothers; five sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Sebert Yoho of Warren, OH, Keith Yoho of Silver Hill, WV; three daughters, Berneda Ward and her husband, Glen and Winifred Hinerman both of Moundsville, WV and Donna Yoho of Proctor, WV; sixteen grandchildren; twenty-five great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Tuesday, February 3, 2009 at Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville, WV where services will be held 1:00 p.m.Wednesday with Dan Kessinger officiating.

Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made in Eathel’s name, to West Virginia School of Preaching, PO Box 785, Moundsville, WV 26041.

Freda L. Dotson
January 31, 2009
Dotson, Freda L., 84, of Paden City, WV died Saturday, January 31, 2009 at her residence.

Freda was born August 13, 1924 in Alvy, WV the daughter of the late Mahlon and Mary Wharton Baker.

She was a former employee of Fishers Big Wheel and a member of the Paden City Church Of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Cecil Walters.

Surviving are four sisters, Wanda Rakocy of Fairmont, WV, Wilda Kline of Paden City, WV, Jessie Glover of Warren, Ohio and Gertrude Swiger of Belle, WV; several nieces and nephews.

Friends received 4 to 6 p.m. Sunday, February 1, 2009 at the Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City, WV where funeral services will be held 10 a.m. Monday, February 2, 2009 with Morris Hafley officiating.

Mary Rose Snell

Snell, Mary Rose, 82, of New Martinsville died Tuesday, January 27, 2009 at New Martinsville Health Care Center.

Mary Rose was born December 1, 1926 in Paden City, WV the daughter of the late Samuel A. and Anna Belle Hammel Hawkins.

She was a 1944 graduate of Magnolia High School, a forty year member of St. John’s United Methodist Church choir, United Methodist Women’s Group, retired bookkeeper for Wells Eakin Company, homemaker and a member of New Martinsville United Methodist Church.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Glenn A. Snell; two sisters, Geraldine Herrick-Finnegan and Deloris Newman; brother, Edward Hawkins.

Surviving are son, Ronald Snell and his wife, Barbara of New Martinsville, WV; daughter, Tamara Nichols and her husband, Bob of Hannibal, OH; granddaughter, Allison Thornton and her husband, John of Cincinnati, OH; two great grandsons, Jalen and Ty Thornton; sister-in-law, Floy Hawkins of New Martinsville, WV and several nieces and nephews.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, January 29, 2009 at Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge St., New Martinsville where services will be held 1:00 p.m., Friday, January 30, 2009 with Pastor Paul Mateer officiating.

Reed, Inna M. “Coot”, 97, of Paden City, WV died Sunday, January 25, 2009 at Sistersville Center.

Inna was born May 6, 1911 in Paden City, WV, daughter of the late Adam and Flora Weekley Reed.

She was a retired secretary for Viking Glass and a member of the Paden City Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by two sisters, Opal Reed and Mildred Rockwell.

Surviving are her brother, Clay Reed of Paden City; Nephew, Bill Reed and his wife, Sherry and Niece, Diane Hayes and her husband, Randy both of Paden City, WV and several great nieces and nephews.

Friends received 4-8 p.m., Tuesday, January 27, 2009 Jarvis Funeral Home where services will be held 11:00 a.m., Wednesday, January 28, 2009 with Morris Hafley officiating.

Carroll, Jewel Gay, 83, of Porters Falls, WV died Wednesday, January 14 2009 in Wetzel County Hospital.

Gay was born February 13, 1925 the daughter of the late David and Sarah Jane Stewart Amos.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Middle Fork Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert “Bob” Carroll (2002); five brothers; eight sisters.

Surviving are two sons, Richard A Carroll and his wife, Paula of Friendly, WV, Larry S. Carroll and his wife, Shirley of Chisel Finger, WV; two daughters, Cheryl Loy and her husband, Ron of New Martinsville, WV and Sharon Tamborski and her husband, Jerry of Madison, OH; eight grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren..

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Friday, January 16, 2009, Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S Bridge Street, New Martinsville where funeral service will be held 1 p.m.-Saturday-January 17, 2009 with Mike Miller officiating.

Dennis Melvin Eugene, 60, of New Martinsville, WV died Tuesday-January 13, 2009 in Wetzel County Hospital, New Martinsville, WV

Melvin was born August 4, 1948 in New Martinsville the son of the late Norman & Fannie Moffitt Dennis.

He was an employee of Local #1149 of Wheeling and Anderson Amoco of New Martinsville, WV and a member of Harvest Baptist Church, Moundsville, WV.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Ronald “Jake” & Rick Dennis; sister, Norma Jean Dennis.

Surviving are his wife, Vilda White Dennis; son, Douglas Dennis of New Martinsville; two daughters, Karen Dennis of New Martinsville and Joellen Dunn of Huntsville, AL; grandchildren, Tondra & Brittany Dunn; sisters-in-laws, Phyllis Wade, Loretta Williams and Shelia White.

Friends received 2 to 4 & 7 to 9 p.m.Thursday-January 15, 2009 at the Jarvis Funeral Home, 1224 S. Bridge Street, New Martinsville where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Friday-January 16, 2009 with Pastor Dale Hostuttler officiating.

Hutchison, Carmen Louise, 81, of Paden City, WV died Monday-January 12, 2009 in Sistersville General Hospital.

Carman was born February 25, 1927 in Doddridge County, WV the daughter of the late Robert & Orpha Hammond Underwood.

She was a retired employee of G.C.Murphy Company and a member of the Paden City Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Norman Hutchison; two brothers; three sisters and son-in-law, “Sonny” Howell.

Surviving are two daughters, Diane Howell and Bonnie (Jim) Stackpole both of Paden City; sister, Lorraine (“Bill” Willard) Wilson of Woodsfield, Ohio; seven grandchildren and twelve great-grandchildren.

Friends received 4 to 9 p.m.-Wednesday-January 14, 2009 at the Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City where funeral services will be held 11 a.m. Thursday-January 15, 2009 with
Morris Hafley officiating.
