Baker, Margaret “Bea” B., 92, of Sistersville, WV formerly of Paden City, died Sunday, January 11, 2009 at Sistersville General Hospital.

Margaret was born June 22, 1916 in Coalinga, CA the daughter of the late Elmer B. and Eva Butler Weekley.

She was a member of the Paden City Garden Club, Sistersville Eastern Star Chapter No. 22, former member of the Paden City Women’s Club, a homemaker and member of the St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, Paden City.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Creel King Baker (2000); two brothers, Kahle and Murl Weekley.

Surviving are son, James F. Baker of Shiloh, WV; daughter, Marilee Weimer and her husband, Gordon of Paden City; two sisters, Helen Means of Dunbar, WV and Wanda Lee Price and her husband, Sam of Elkins, WV; five grandchildren, Dee Dee Wilkinson of Marietta, OH, James F. Baker II of Pursley, WV, Jon Baker of Paden City, Steven A. Weimer of Bethlehem, WV and Catherine L. Lohr of Paden City, WV and eight great grandchildren.

Friends will be received 6 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesday, January 13, 2009 Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City,

Private interment services will be held at the convenience of the family with Pastor David Edwards officiating.

Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made in Margaret’s name, to either Paden City Public Library or Paden City Elementary School Library.

Carol Howard
January 2, 2009
Howard, Carol Green Barkwill, born December 21, 1925, in St. Marys, West Virginia, to Eugene L. Green and Estelle Houser Green, died at Sistersville General Hospital on January 2, 2009, age 83.

She was preceded in death by her Aunts Bonnie Green and Gladys Deering, her first husband, Lt. Col. James W Barkwill, her second husband, Harold L. Howard, and her middle son, John V. Barkwill.

She is survived by her sons, Brooks K. Barkwill and James W. Barkwill II, step-son, Jeff Howard, step-daughter, Debbie Metz, three grandchildren and four step-grandchildren. A private graveside ceremony and interment will be conducted by Jarvis Funeral Home at the I.O.O.F. Cemetery in St. Marys, WV on January 5, 2009. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that a donation be made to the Alzheimer's Foundation of America.

Gary D. Dillon
January 2, 2009
Dillon, Gary D., 68, of Paden City died Friday, January 2, 2009 in Paden City, WV.

Gary was born October 30, 1940 in St. Albans, WV the son of the late Henry E. and Thelma Smith Dillon.

He was an Army veteran and retired employee of Union Carbide.

In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by two brothers, Henry E. Dillon II and Frank Dillon.

Surviving are his wife, Diana Williams Dillon; daughter, Kimberly Seckman and her husband, Ed of New Martinsville, WV; brother, Richard Dillon and his wife, Mary Lou of Ohio and granddaughter, Tylar Seckman.

Friends received 2-4 and 6-8 p.m., Sunday, January 4, 2009 Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City where services will be held 1:00 p.m., Monday, January 5, 2009 with Pastor Paul Mateer officiating.

Full military services will be conducted by the Blue Blazers of Paden City, New Martinsville and Sistersville.

Interment Northview Cemetery, New Martinsville, WV.

Brenda Anderson
December 30, 2008
Anderson, Brenda Kay, 52, of Paden City, WV died Tuesday, December 30, 2008 in St. Joseph Hospital, Parkersburg, WV.

Brenda was born October 17, 1956 in Reader, WV the daughter of the late John P. and Maxine Mary Quinn Anderson.

Surviving are a brother, John D. (Barbie) Anderson of Sistersville, WV; nephews, John Marcus Anderson and Zachary Paul Anderson; niece, Shelby Jo Maxine Anderson; great-nephews, Isaac Anderson and Andre Anderson; special friend, Deborah (Clayton) Taylor of Belmont, WV.

Friends received Noon until time of service at 2 p.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 at the First Baptist Church, 600 South 4th Avenue, Paden City, WV

Interment Milburn Cemetery, Reader, WV.

Arrangements by Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City, WV.

Ruth Reed
December 29, 2008
Reed, Ruth L., 88, of Paden City died Monday, December 29, 2008 at Sistersville Center.

Ruth was born June 2, 1920 in Paden City, WV the daughter of the late George E and Agnes Furbee Turner.

She was a homemaker and a member of the Paden City Church of Christ.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by three brothers and a sister.

Surviving are her husband, Clay Reed to whom she was married for sixty-nine and a half years; son, Bill Reed and his wife, Sherry; daughter Diane Hayes and her husband, Randy both of Paden City, WV; brother Gordon Turner and his wife, Jean of Upsalanti, Mich.; sister, Sara Buckingham of Portland, Oreg.; four grandchildren, Jennifer Harn, Jared Reed, Meredith Reed and Jordan Reed; two great grandchildren, Jaslyn and Kaden Harn and several cousins, nieces and nephews.

Friends received 3-8 p.m., Thursday, January 1, 2009 Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City where services will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, January 2, 2009 with Morris Hafley officiating.

Interment Greenlawn Memorial Park, New Martinsville, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made in Ruth’s name to the WV Alzheimer’s Association, 1111 Lee St, Charleston, WV 25301.

Harold Lloyd Pittman

Pittman, Harold “Harry” L., 86 of Paden City, WV died Sunday, December 28, 2008 in Sistersville Center.

Harry was born November 28, 1922 in Hot Springs Ark. the son of the late Thomas Whittier and Naomi Visalia Young Pittman.

He was a member of the Paden City Lion’s Club, Paden City Boosters, worked for four years with Alcoa Aluminum, ten years with Reynolds Aluminum, and retired from Ormet after twenty-eight years as a general foreman.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife Mary Jane Ault Pittman (1995) to whom he was married for 51 years; two brothers and a sister.

Surviving are two daughters, Susan Virden and her husband, Ronald of Allentown, PA and Nancy Stender and her husband, Richard of Paden City, WV; five grandchildren, Charlene D’Agati and her husband, Paul of Hampstead, MD, Angela Bartos and her husband, Andris of Toalmas, Hungary, Jerilyn Burgess and her husband, Devin of Penland, NC, Melanie Stender of New Martinsville, WV and Janette Sandro and her husband, Luke of Dayton, OH; six great grandchildren, Tyler, Connor and Avery D’Agati, Benjamin and Emilia Bartos and Finn Burgess.

Friends received 6-9 p.m., Friday, January 2, 2009 Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City where services will be held 10 a.m., Saturday, January 3, 2009 with Ron Crowe officiating.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV.

Memorial contributions may be made in Harry’s name to the Paden City Public Library, 114 S Fourth Ave., Paden City, WV 26159.

William B "Bill" Price
December 27, 2008
Price, William B. “Bill”, 81 passed from this life on December 27, 2008 at his home, Morgantown, WV.

Bill was born August 13, 1927 in Paden City, WV the son of the late Clarence G. and Hazel G. Rockwell Price.

Bill was the former owner operator of Band Box Cleaners in New Martinsville and Paden City from 1959 to 1975. In 1977, he moved to Beckley, WV and became manager of Richmond Dry Cleaners and Laundry until his retirement in 1992. In 2001, he moved to Morgantown, WV; he was a member of the Church of Christ and a WWII Navy Veteran.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a son, William Allen; two brothers, Ralph (Carolyn) Price and Warren Price; mother-in-law, Edna Rabel Feist; sister-in-law, Norma Feist.

Surviving are his wife of 60 years, Ruth Feist Price, whom he married April 10, 1948; two sons, Max (Connie) Price of Ravenswood, WV and Joe (Brenda) Price of Paden City, WV; daughter, Barbara (Michael) Cunningham of Morgantown, WV; sister, Ruth Ann (Otis) Joy of Paden City, WV; brother, Paul (Wanda) Rockwell of Paden City; brother-in-law, Russell Feist of Moundsville, WV; ten grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

Friends received 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, December 30 at the Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City where funeral service will be held 11 a.m. Wednesday, December 31, 2008 with Bill’s nephews, Brian Price and Jeremy Joy officiating.

Interment in Paden Memorial Gardens, Paden City, WV

Blue Blazers of Paden City, New Martinsville and Sistersville will conduct chapel services at the funeral home.

Donald Allen Schmidt
December 17, 2008
Schmidt, Donald Allen, age 89, of Paden City, WV died Wednesday, December 17, 2008 in Wetzel County Hospital.

Donald was born April 17, 1919 in Paden City the son of the late James J. and Daisy McQuay Schmidt.

He was a retired employee of PPG Industries; a proud member of “The Greatest Generation” serving in the US Army in World War II, which included, serving in Africa, the Invasion of Southern France, Germany, the Invasion of Italy and Austria; a member for 65 years of the American Legion Post 86 of Paden City and VFW Post 6327 of Sistersville and a member of St. Paul’s United Methodist Church of Paden City.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by three brothers, James, Kenny and Harold; two sisters, Virginia Lindsay and Nell DiMuzio.

Surviving are his wife of 45 years, Florence Thomas Schmidt; a son, Donald E. and his wife, Carol of Paden City; step-grandson, Kurt Jones, serving with the US Army stationed in Germany; twin sister, Dorothy Casto of Lacy, Washington; brother, Robert Schmidt and his wife, Gussie of New Martinsville; two nieces and three nephews.

Friends received 2 to 4 & 6 to 8 p.m. Saturday, December 20, 2008 at the Jarvis Funeral Home, Paden City. WV where funeral services will be held 1:30 p.m. Sunday, December 21, 2008 with Rev. Paula Keplinger (Mrs. Schmidt’s niece) and Evangelist Jerry Toothman officiating.

Interment Beechwood Cemetery, Alma, WV with full military graveside services conducted by Paden City American Legion Post 86, New Martinsville American Legion Post 28, Sistersville American Legion Post 67 and Sistersville VFW Post 6327, with post members serving as pallbearers.

Memorial contributions may be made in Donald’s name to Paden City Museum, P.O. Box 233, Paden City, WV 26159
