Harold Dean Hoover
Harold Dean Hoover, 80, of Summersville, WV died on Thursday, December 30, 2010 at Braxton Memorial Hospital. He was born September 25, 1930 to the late Ernest Gerald and Cora Belle Whystell Hoover.
He was a Baptist by faith, worked as a Heavy Equipment Operator, and served his country in the U. S. Navy.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife; Kathleen Mae Coombs Hoover and his son Danny Hoover.
He is survived by his son Ernest Harold Hoover, III of Birch River, WV his daughters; Kathryn Sims of Gassaway, Brenda
Lowe of Princeton,
Eva Seykoski of Freemont, NC, Beth Morris of Birch River, Dee Simms of Summersville, and Becky Okonski of OH., 16 grandchildren, and 20 great-grandchildren.
Memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on Wednesday, Jan. 5, 2011 at Greene- Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton. Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Betty Lou Jenkins
Betty Lou Jenkins, 77 of Little Birch, died peacefully on May 7, 2011 at her home.
She was born in Sutton, WV September 5, 1933 to James and Emma Facemire Hosey.
Betty was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and a homemaker and a member of Stump Chapel Baptist Church in Tesla.
She was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Orval Franklin Jenkins, sisters Ruth and Irene, brothers, Gaylor and Lanty.
She is survived by her children; Steven Jenkins and wife Cindy of Little Birch, James “Jimmy” Jenkins and wife Linda of Tesla, Richard Jenkins and wife Mona of Little Birch, Daniel Jenkins and wife Leona of Sutton, Mark Jenkins of Little Birch, Michael Jenkins and wife Cherie of Gassaway, Marsha Posey and husband John of Walkersville, Charlotte Lynch and husband Steve, Lynn Given and husband Marvin, Shelly Frame and husband Homer all of Sutton, brother Homer Hosey of OH., and sisters, Judy Thayer, Nellie Mae Brown both of Sutton, and Jane Long of OH., 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren and her special friend Nancy Long.
Funeral services were held at Stump Chapel Baptist Church in Tesla on Wednesday May 11, 2011 at 1:00 p.m. with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Burial followed in Barnett Cemetery near Sutton. Friends called Tuesday from 6-8pm at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV and one hour prior to the service at the church.

David P. Smallwood
David P. Smallwood, 71, of Gassaway went home to be with his Lord and Savior on May 8, 2011.
There to meet him in heaven is his father and mother, Stanley and Rosa Boggs Smallwood and all of his brothers.
David was a veteran of the United States Army. He worked hard all of his life.
He leaves behind a loving wife of 25 years, Vickie Smallwood and four wonderful children, Tammy Shingler of Frametown, Terry Smallwood of Burnsville, Eddie and Angie Smallwood of Sutton, Billy and Vivian Smallwood of Martinsburg; He also had very loving grandchildren and great grandchildren, eight grandchildren and five great grandchildren; David also leaves behind five loving and caring stepchildren, Patricia Talbert of Sutton, Barbara Lantz of Weston, Mary Talbert of Poplar Ridge, Robert Talbert of Ohio and Roger Lee Talbert of Little Birch; 15 stepgrandchildren and six step great grandchildren.
He will be sadly missed by everyone.
Service was 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 11 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Evangelist Markco Pritt officiating. Burial with military rites was in the Dunn Cemetery, Canfield.
Friends called two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Virginia R. Thomas
Virginia R. Thomas, 70, of Salem, passed away May 7, 2011 in Roanoke, VA after a long illness. She was born May 5, 1941 in Crooked Fork, WV to the late Delbert Frame & Agnes Stump Frame Moyers. She was a homemaker, loving mother, and faithful member of Crooked Fork Baptist Church. She is a graduate of Rosedale High School. She was preceded in death her loving husband, Harry D. Thomas; sisters, Maggie Sands and Mary Sobotka, and Opal Andrus; brothers, Camden Frame, Delbert Frame, and Floyd Frame; half-brothers, Dorsey, Hobart, Dalton, and Leonard. She is survived by a sister, Pauline Sharps. She is survived by her sons and their spouses, Jim & Betty Thomas of Elizabeth, Cam and Beverly Thomas of Elizabeth; daughters, Paula Lovett of Lakeland, FL, Agnes Proctor of Roanoke, VA, and Debbie Richards of Roanoke, VA; 11 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Funeral service will be 2:00p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2011 at Crooked Fork Baptist Church with Rev. Larry Fisher officiating. Visitation will be 3 hours prior to the service on Wednesday at the church (11:00-2:00p.m.) Burial will follow in Crooked Fork Baptist Church Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggest memorial contributions be made to: Crooked Fork Baptist Church Building Fund, 559 Nicholas Run Road, Gassaway, WV 26624. Audry “Kathleen” Cooper
Audry “Kathleen” (Lake) Cooper, 81, of Ireland, West Virginia went to be with the Lord on Sunday, August 18, 2013 in the Braxton Health Care Center. She was born in Braxton County, West Virginia on March 18, 1932 a daughter of the late Hayward Lake and Leo Mae (Dennison) Lake. She was married to James Oscar Cooper who preceded her in death. In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by one brother John Lake
Mrs. Cooper is survived by two daughters Marsha Sheppard of Manchester, Georgia and Karen Pentecost and husband Jerry of Ireland, West Virginia and one son Ricky Cooper of Paris, Texas. Also surviving are six grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren. In addition to her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren she is survived by one brother Don Jackson Lake and wife Karron of Ireland, West Virginia one sister Doraleen Williams of Purden, Texas.
Mrs. Cooper belonged to the United Pentecostal Church and she helped her husband start four churches in four different states. Kathleen enjoyed oil painting, embroidery work, loved to read, and collected dolls. Kathleen loved being a pastor’s wife and loved being a home maker for her family.
Family received friends at the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods, WV on Thursday, August 22, 2013 from 11:00 a.m. till 1:00 p.m. Funeral services followed visitation from the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Chapel at 1:00 p.m. with Jerry Pentecost officiating. Interment followed in Long Cemetery in Powderly, Texas. Expressions of Sympathy and fond memories may be shared with the family at stockert-sizemore.com

Donnie Wayne Allen
Donnie Wayne Allen, 62, of Jane Lew passed away at 7:28 pm on Sunday, August 18, 2013 at his residence with his loving family by his side, following an extended illness.
He was born on October 18, 1950 in Braxton County, a son of the late Edward (Hoot) Junior and Beatrice Marie Hamner Allen.
On July 6, 1970 he married the former Dortha Claypool and they enjoyed 43 years of marriage together.
He is also survived by two sons: Gary Wayne Allen and wife MaryAnn and Donnie Lee Allen, all of Jane Lew; five sisters: Helen Tomaro of Weston, Carolyn Lamb and husband Bill of Alum Bridge, Millie Hinkle of Jane Lew, Paulene Smith and husband Eddie of Alexander, and Charlene Wiant and husband Steve of Weston; four brothers: Richard Allen and wife Vickie of Alum Bridge, Dave Allen and fiancé Dawn Stonestreet of Cleveland OH, Charles Allen and wife Mikhy of Weston, and Herbert (Hub) Allen and wife Carolyn of Alum Bridge; 10 grandchildren: Ceora Clark and husband Travis, Joshlynn, Jerriah, Brionna, and Jacklynn Marie Allen, Michael Brown, Austin and Makayla Craig; two great-grandchildren: Amira and Shaylia Clark.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, and nephews.
He was preceded in death by two brothers: Bill and Earl Allen; one sister, Doris Ann Allen; one sister-in-law, Carolyn Allen, and three brothers-in-law: Robert Hines, Randy Hinkle, and Richard Singleton.
Donnie retired from Wonder Well Service with several years of service. He was a spirited sports enthusiast who loved to watch Steelers football, Pirates baseball, and Richard Petty in Nascar.
He enjoyed the outdoors, especially fishing and deer hunting. He liked to watch old movies and spend time with his grandchildren, who were the light of his life.
Friends and family gathered at the Pat Boyle Funeral Home and Cremation Service at 144 Hackers Creek Rd in Jane Lew from 4-8 pm on Wednesday, August 21, 2013. Funeral Services were held at 11 am on Thursday, August 22, 2013 with Reverend Delmas Singleton officiating. Interment followed in the Newville Cemetery in Braxton County.

Norene Mae DePugh

Norene Mae DePugh, 82, of Sutton, WV died October 22, 2008 in Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, WV. She was born June 30, 1926, in Glasgow, WV a daughter of the late Marshall & Celeste Patton Adkins. Also preceding her in death were her husband James Davis DePugh;
Daughter Delores DePugh; 3 sisters Marcell Graham, Serena Gould & Sharon Graham; and 2 brothers Elza Adkins and Cameron Adkins.

She was a member of the Little Laurel Baptist Church, Richwood and attended Stump Chapel Baptist Church in Tesla. Norene was a retired nursing assistant at Sacred Heart Hospital in Richwood.

She is survived by 2 sons James Davis DePugh & wife Cindy of Craigsville, and Danny DePugh & wife Chris of Vienna, WV; 3 daughters Brenda Coffman & husband Ronnie of Little Birch, Sandra Little & husband Mike of Cowen and Glenna Coffey & husband Bob of Richwood; 1 sister Victoria Blankenship & husband Marvin of Cedar Grove; special great granddaughter Haley Bosely; 12 grandchildren; 8 great grandchildren; and special care taker Nancy Johnson.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 25 at Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla with Rev. Larry Coffman officiating. Burial will be at the Woodland Cemetery, Cedar Grove. Committal service will be held at 3:30 p.m. Saturday at the Virginia Chapel Church, Cedar Grove, WV. Friends may call Friday from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Braxton County Animal Shelter, 10 Animal Shelter Lane, Sutton, WV 26601.

Evalee Louise Woods

Evalee Louise Woods, 86, of Sutton, WV died October 19, 2008 in Braxton Health Care Center, Sutton, WV. She was born December 11, 1921 a daughter of the late John & Lula Woods. Also preceding her in death were a sister Gladys Johns and a nephew Gary Clifton.

She is survived by 2 sisters Lillie Mae Facemire and Velma Lynn Clifton both of Sutton; a nephew Larry Clifton & wife Dorlis; and Drema Clifton and sons Ryan and Michael.

Funeral services will be held at 4:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 22, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Burial will be in the Hoover Cemetery on Bug Ridge near Sutton, WV. Friends may call Thursday from 6:00 – 8:00 p.m. at the funeral home.

Evalee Knight Coombs Miller

Evalee Knight Coombs Miller, 78, of Gassaway, WV went home to be with the Lord on October 17, 2008. She was born Sept. 13, 1930 in Braxton County, WV, a daughter of the late Mack & Lena Wilson Knight.

Also preceding her in death were her husband’s Allen Burnell Coombs, and Roy A. Miller and her Infant son, Jackie Lee Coombs, sister Betty Mae Johnson, Great-Grandson Jeremy McCoy, and step-son Arnie Miller.

She was a member of the Burnsville Church of God and a homemaker.

She is survived by son Kenneth A. and wife Jo Coombs of Flatwoods, WV, Daughters Linda Stout of Gassaway, WV, Barbara J. and husband David White of Sutton, WV. Brothers James Knight of Cowen, WV, Elmer Knight of Quaker City, Oh, Walter Knight of Sutton, WV, her sisters Edna Evans of Quaker State, Oh, Goldie Gross of Wadsworth, Oh, Ruth Gross of Sutton, WV, Lorraine Lewis of Lorain, Oh, Lucille Justice of Akron, Oh, and Violet Marcum of Barberton, Oh. Step-Daughter Judith and husband Arnold House of LaPlata, Md. 6 Grandchildren, 13 Great-Grandchildren, 1 Great-Great,4 Step –grandchildren, 5 Step-Great, and 1 Step-Great-Great grandchild.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 21, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home with Pastor Tom Propts and Pastor Mike Sisson officiating. Burial will be in the Hoover Cemetery, Sutton, WV. Friends may call 6-8 pm. on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.
