Carl Glenn Boone

Carl Glenn Boone of Alliance, OH, beloved son of Homer and Mary Boone went to his eternal rest on October 17, 2008 while a patient of Arbors of Canton in Canton, OH. He was born May 23, 1967 in Gassaway, WV. He was preceded in death by his father Homer Boone; daughter Destiney Boone; paternal grandparents Minter & Minnie Boone; and maternal grandparents Cecil & Emma Collins.

He graduated from Marlington High School in Alliance, OH and was employed by Reliable Ready Mix. Carl was cherished by his family and country; was an avid coon hunter, loved to ride his Harley and collect and trade guns.

He is survived by his mother Mary Marie Boone of Alliance, OH; 3 sisters Mary White of Nakina, NC, Glenna Christian of Cowen, WV and Debby Sudlow of Webster Springs, WV; and 3 brothers Audley Boone of Webster Springs WV, John Boone of North Benton, OH and Jim Boone of North Benton, OH.

Funeral service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, October 20, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Butch Collins officiating. Burial will be in the Collins Cemetery, Birch River, WV. Friends may call from 6 – 8 p.m. on Sunday, October 19, 2008 at the funeral home.

Arrangements are by Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

Sylvia Withrow

Sylvia Withrow, 97, of Sutton, WV died October 12, 2008 in Braxton County Memorial Hospital, Gassaway, WV. She was born May 4, 1911 in Nicholas County, WV, a daughter of the late Alexander & Roxie Mullins Hall. Also preceding her in death were her husband Clyde McDivitt and daughter Mabel McKinney.

She was a member of the Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla and a homemaker.

She is survived by 2 sons Walter McDivitt & wife Mavadell of Summersville, WV and Roger McDivitt & wife Pearl of Sutton, WV; 3 daughters Carol Richardson & husband John of Sutton, Shirley Rigger and husband Clifford of Pilot Knob, WV and Barbara Williams of Salem, WV; and one sister Vada Amick of Summersville, WV. Also surviving are 30 grandchildren and several great grandchildren.

Funeral service will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Wednesday, October 15, 2008 at the Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla, WV with Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Burial will be in the Harper Cemetery, Little Birch, WV. Friends may call Tuesday, October 15, 2008 from 6 – 8 p.m. at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.

Donal E. Rose

Donal E. Rose, 82, of Tesla, WV died September 30, 2008 in CAMC Memorial Division, Charleston, WV. He was born July 7, 1926 in Rainelle, WV, a son of the late Stanley C. & Myrtle Hollandsworth Rose. Also preceding him in death was his wife Ruth R. Rose.

He was a member of the Stump Chapel Baptist Church, Tesla, WV and was retired from Braxton County Board of Education as a bus driver.

He is survived by 2 children Brenda Drane & her husband Phil of Tesla, WV and Vonda Gerwig and husband Bill of Orlando, FL; 3 grandchildren Jason Drane of Virginia Beach, VA, Shane Gerwig & wife Amy of Clermont, FL, and Jerod Gerwig & wife Ashley of Tesla, WV; and 4 great grandchildren Ava Gerwig, Megan Gerwig, Evan Steinman and Landon Gerwig.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, October 4, 2008 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV with Rev. Phil Drane and Bill Gerwig officiating. Burial will be in the Braxton County Cemetery, Airport Road, Sutton, WV. Friends may call on Friday, October 3 from 6 – 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Funeral arrangements are by Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

Aneta Jo (Morrison) Luzader
Aneta Jo (Morrison) Luzader, 83, of Newville, WV passed away peacefully on Saturday, August 17, 2013 at her residence. She was born on June 12, 1930 in Palmer, WV a daughter of the late Arnold Paul Morrison and Georgia F. (Belcher) Luzader. On May 4, 1957 she married James A. Luzader who preceded her in death on August 5, 2006.
Mrs. Luzader is survived by two sons Michael Luzader and companion (Lou Nichols) of Newville, and David Luzader and wife Teresa of Carees, WV. Mrs. Luzader is also survived by one grandson Charlie Hall.
Also surviving are brothers “Tom” Morrison of Newville, Donald Morrison of Newville, Dale Morrison and wife Pat of Exchange, and sisters Sue Lewis and husband Howard of Virginia Beach, VA, Janis Currence and husband Vic of Bolivar, OH, and Arlene Currence of Newville.
In addition to her parents and husband she was also preceded in death by one son Danny Luzader and one sister Doris Connell.
Mrs. Luzader was Methodist by faith and attended the Newville United Methodist Church. Aneta loved working in her vegetable garden, tending to her flowers, and loved to watch humming birds. Aneta’s greatest joy was being a homemaker. She loved to cook, can vegetables, and most of all caring for her family.
Friends called at the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods on Wednesday, August 21, 2013 from 12:00 Noon till 1:00 p.m. Funeral Services followed calling hours at 1:00 p.m. at the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home with Reverend John McQuain officiating. Interment followed services in the Newville Cemetery.

Rick Dobbins
Rick Dobbins, 50, of Frametown, passed away August 20, 2013 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
He was born August 7, 1963 in Gassaway.
Rick worked for Bi-Con of Derwent, Ohio for 25 years as an equipment operator and superintendent. He was a 1981 graduate of Braxton County High School; an avid hunter, fisherman and motorcycle racer. Some of his favorite things were Mount Morris Motor Cross, Christmas, because he loved to give, and deer season.
Rick loved to watch NASCAR and loved to encourage his nephew, Tyler, in all of his many sporting events. He was a youth wrestling coach, even though he had no children of his own he influenced many children in the county and they called him “Uncle Rick”.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Elsie June Fox Dobbins; grandparents, Rev. C.C. Jack and Eunice Dobbins and Herman and Bernice Fox.
Surviving; father, Kent Dobbins and wife, Brenda of Servia; sister, Shelley Cottrill and husband, Dennis of Gassaway; nephew, Tyler Cottrill of Gassaway; aunts, Frances Garee of Bluefield and Patty Nutter of Gassaway, Anagene Lucas of Ft. Lauderdale, FL and Carolyn Patrick of Frametown; uncles, Rodney and Donnie Dobbins of Frametown; as well as several cousins on both sides of family.
Services were held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, August 24, 2013 at Gassaway Baptist Church with Rev. Rich Demastus officiating. Burial followed at his camp in Dessie.
Friends called from 6 to 9 pm Friday, August 23, 2013 at the Gassaway Baptist Church.

Sally Jean Ware
Sally Jean Ware, age 79 of French Creek, WV, passed away Saturday, August 17, 2013 at the St. Joseph’s hospital in Buckhannon, WV. She was born August 25, 1933 in Braxton County, WV, the daughter of the late William Glen and June Hamilton Woods.
She was preceded in death on November 4, 2001 by her husband, Raymond G. Ware, whom she married on January 29, 1954 and her son, Steven Ware.
Surviving are 4 daughters, Sandra Lockwood of Flatwoods, WV; Cindy Ware and companion, Robert Lewis of French Creek; Kristina Ware of Buckhannon; Lisa Simmons and husband, Kevin of Frenchton, WV; 5 grandchildren, Amanda Ware, Katelyn Jones, Breanna Williams, Joshua Simmons; Tyler Simmons and fiancée Casey Thorpe, and special friend, Kathy Eskew.
Sally loved her grandchildren, enjoyed working in her garden and flowers and doing puzzles.
Sally was a member of the Ladies Auxiliary of the DAV Chapter #36 of French Creek.
Graveside services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, September 7, 2013 at the Greenhill Cemetery in Braxton County, Ireland, WV.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that contributions may be made toward the funeral expenses.

Genevieve Beer
Genevieve Beer, age 98 a resident of the Barbour County Good Samaritan Center in Belington, WV and formerly of Buckhannon, WV died Tuesday, May 10, 2011 at the Davis Memorial Hospital in Elkins, WV. She was born April 16, 1913 in Clarksburg, WV, a daughter of the late Fred and Verna Ethel Barb Riffle. On January 19, 1935 she married Gale Beer who preceded her in death in 1977. In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded by two brothers, Willis and John Riffle and three sisters, Lucille Simons, Naomi Henline and Patricia Posey. She is survived by one daughter, Anna Lee Given and husband Stanton of Thomasville, GA; four sons, Edwin Beer and wife Judy of Buckhannon, James Cecil Beer and wife Patricia of Edgewater, MD, Thomas Wayne Beer and wife Lydia of NC and Richard Beer and wife Cathy of Waxahachie, TX; one sister, Virginia White of Buckhannon and seven grandchildren, eleven great-grandchildren and two great-great-grandchildren. Mrs. Beer was a homemaker. Burial will be in the Heavner Cemetery in Buckhannon. Online condolences may be made to the family at www.polingstclair.com. Donald Rayburn Dodrill
Donald Rayburn Dodrill, 74, of Birch River, WV died on May 10, 2011 at his residence. He was born on July 30, 1936 in Nicholas Co., WV to the late George Martin and Leola Deloris Boggs Dodrill.
Donald was retired from Florida Power Company in St. Petersburg, FL. He was a member of Hillview Baptist Church in Cleveland, OH. and also attended Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Strange Creek, WV.
He was preceded in death by his parents.
Surviving is his loving wife Wanda, son Nelson Craig Dodrill of Maple Heights, OH., daughter Dawn Rae Ellis of Conyers, GA., his brothers Buford Dodrill of Dille, and Roscoe Dodrill of Geneva, OH., 4 grandchildren and 4 great-grandchildren.
Funeral services were held on Friday, May 13, 2011 at 1:00 pm at Walnut Grove United Methodist Church in Strange Creek, WV with Rev. Danny Richardson and Rev. Jimmy Adkins officiating. Friends called from 6-8pm on Thursday at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton. Burial followed the service in the church cemetery.

Lois A. Jarvis
Lois A. Jarvis (nee James), 69, of Lorain, Ohio, passed away suddenly on Tuesday, May 10, 2011.
She was born in Gassaway, WV on June 10, 1941 and had been a resident of Lorain, Ohio for 46 years.
Lois was a homemaker who enjoyed video games, camping, travel and spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren.
Survivors include her husband, of 51 years, Gary M. Jarvis; children, Connie (Al) Ruth of Lorain, OH, Gary (Krista) Jarvis Jr. of South Carolina and Randy (Linda) Jarvis of Amherst, OH; grandchildren, Brian, Erin, Alan Jr., Ryan, Nicole, Courtney and Stephanie; six great grandchildren and twin great grandchildren to be; brothers, Walter James Jr. of Lorain, OH Joseph James of Salem, WV and Russell James of Sheffield Lake, OH and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter and Isabelle (Ross) James and her brother and sisters.
Service was 1 p.m. Saturday, May 14 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway. Burial was in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.
Friends called three hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
