Rev. Muriel I. Cutlip
Rev. Muriel I. “Doc” Cutlip 95, of Beverly, WV passed away Sept. 6, 2011 at the Elkins Regional Convalescent Center after a short illness.
He was born on July 1, 1916 at Braxton, WV a son of the late W.M. and Ora Harris Cutlip. He was a retired UMWA Coal Miner with over 44 years of service. Doc was an evangelistic minister and was a minister at great many churches over a span of more than 63 years. He preached on radio programs from Oak Hill, Summersville, Parkersburg, Canton, OH and Buckhannon, WV for over 50 years. He worked at Parkersburg Shovel Plant in Parkersburg, WV.
Doc is preceded in death by his parents, his first wife, Esther George Cutlip (2008), two brothers; Elmer and Delmar, five sisters; Mary Flint, Goldie Castreel, Virginia Rutherford, Opal Bragg and Madge Casto.
He is survived by his wife Linda Humphrey-Cutlip and Step-daughter Rev. Angie Wilson and her husband, Jim. Four step-grandchildren of whom he was very proud, Heather, Ashlen, Dylan and Harmony Wilson. Also surviving are his extended family, nieces, nephews and many friends.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 PM Sunday, Sept. 11, 2011 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Angie Wilson and Rev. Wilma Jackson officiating. Doc was laid to rest in Heaters Cemetery in Heaters, WV. Friends called one hour prior to the service on Sunday.

Jeremiah Grant Stump
Jeremiah Grant Stump, infant son of Megan Stump was stillborn at Women & Children’s Hospital, Charleston.
He is preceded in death by his Paternal Grandparents, Alma & Charles Stump.
He is survived by his mother, little sister, Chloe Grace Gentile at home, grandfather, Grant Stump of Flatwoods.
There will be no service upon the family’s request.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is humbly serving the Stump family.

Don Leo Drake
Don Leo Drake, 66, of Rosedale, formerly of Calhoun County, died September 13, 2011 at home.
He was born October 13, 1944 in Roane County, a son of the late Denver and Alta Truman Drake.
He was a construction worker and enjoyed the outdoors.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by brothers, Lloyd, Waldo and Lester; sister, Lucille.
Surviving; wife, Evalene Drake; daughters, Rebecca Drake and Karen Drake Cottrill; son, Brian Drake; grandchildren, Glenn Williams, Brandon Hernandez, Samantha Williams, Frankie Montgomery, Courtney Cottrill, Timmy Drake-Davis, Kayla Montgomery and Amber Kuhn; brother, Ronald Drake; sisters, Ruby Hart and Audrea Parsons.
Service was 11 a.m. Saturday, September 17 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Richard Metheny officiating. Burial was in the Metheny-Drake Cemetery, Mud Fork.
Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.

Ruth Ann Carr
Ruth Ann Carr, 62, of Gassaway, died September 15, 2011 at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
She was born August 16, 1949 in Clay County a daughter of the late John and Sophrona Holcomb Nichols.
Ruth was a homemaker and a member of the Engel Chapel Church, Gassaway.
In addition to her parents she was preceded in death by husband, Arnold Carr and son, Allen Nichols.
Surviving; children, Tracy Perez of Willimantic, CT, Evan Carr of Exchange and Cindy Collins of Glen White; sisters, Juanita Mathias and Carrie Tuschan both of Ohio; five grandchildren and one great grandchild.
Service was 2 p.m. Sunday, September 18, Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Markco Pritt officiating. Burial was in the Jerushia Church Cemetery on Sugar Creek.
Friends called two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.

Betty Jean Hickok
Betty Jean “Stump” Hickok, 82, of Morgantown, formally of Flatwoods passed away September 15, 2011 at Monongalia General Hospital in Morgantown, WV. She was born March 1, 1929 in Nicholas County, the daughter of the late Arley and Josie Perkins Gibson.
Betty retired from Elk Soil Conservation District as Secretary. She was a member of the Spruce Street United Methodist Church in Morgantown, and a former member of Christ Church United Methodist in Sutton, she was a member of the United Methodist Women, Eastern Star, and volunteered at the Braxton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, and was instrumental in raising funds for the Sutton Public Library.
She is preceded in death by her parents, husband; Lacy Henry “Bill” Hickok, brother; Bill Gibson, sisters; Neva, Velma, Pauline, Freda, Wanda and Loretta.
Betty is survived by her daughter and son- in- law Donna and John Allen, and her son and daughter-in-law David and Pam Stump all of Morgantown, 4 grandchildren; John Wesley Allen (Renee), Deana Kleine, Aaron Allen, Clayton Stump. Her great-grandchildren Luke, Levi, Kylie, and Sarah Elizabeth Allen, and Forest Kleine and, her friend and sister-in-law Norma Lee Cutlip of Sutton.
A celebration of Betty’s life was held on Sunday, Sept. 18, 2011 at 4:00pm in the Stonerun Cemetery, Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Charles Thomas Bolen and Rev. James Waldeck officiating. Friends called at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton on Sunday from 2:00pm until the procession leaves for the cemetery at 3:40 pm.
The family suggests donations to the Betty Jean Hickok Memorial Fund c/o the Spruce Street United Methodist Church 386 Spruce Street Morgantown, WV 26505.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is humbled to serve the Hickok Family.

Elmer G. Wine
Elmer G. Wine 80, of Bragg Run near Burnsville, WV, passed away at his home on Friday, Sept. 16, 2011 surrounded by his family.
Elmer was born in Burnsville on Feb 5, 1931 the eldest son of Melvin and Etta Singleton Wine. He worked for Penn Line as a foreman and later became a member of IBEW Local 71 of Columbus, OH., where he worked for many years. He retired from the WV Dept of Highways with 19 years of service.
Elmer was preceded in death by his parents and one son, Michael Elmer Wine.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, Catherine Lee Nicholson Wine and seven children, Mary Etta Mace, Stanley Gail Wine, Stephen Dale Wine, David Mark Wine, Linda Lee Fincham, Daniel Wine, and Nancy Michelle Skinner; eighteen grandchildren and 2 great-grandchildren. In addition to his wife and children, he is survived by brothers and sisters, Denzil, Grafton, Rita, Havonda, Letcher, Lewis, Melvin Junior, Jerry and Susie.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 PM on Thursday, Sept. 22, 2011 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home with Rev. Eddie Barker officiating. Burial will be in the Odd Fellows Cemetery in Burnsville, WV. Friends may call from 6-8:00 PM Wednesday evening Sept. 21, 2011 at the funeral home.

Marsh Rose
Marsh Rose, 63, of Strange Creek, died September 17, 2011 at CAMC Memorial Hospital.
He was born May 9, 1948 in Braxton County a son of the late Estel Allen and Della Boggs Rose.
He was a construction worker, logger and heavy equipment operator.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Surviving; wife, Virginia Ethel Nelson Rose; son, Timothy Wayne Rose of Idaho; grandson, Derek Rose of Phoenix, AZ; great grandchildren, Natalie Ann Rose and Connor Chase Rose; brothers, Arden Rose and Wadie Rose both of Strange Creek; sisters, Belle of Ohio, Etta Nottingham of Gassaway and Lenora Butcher of Ohio.
Graveside service was 11 a.m. Monday, September 19 at the Rose Community Cemetery, Strange Creek with Pastor Freddie Schoolcraft officiating. Friends called one hour prior to the service at the cemetery.

Lorene Hattie Murphy
Lorene Hattie Murphy, 88, of Dille, WV gently passed into eternity with our Lord on Sunday, October 30, 2011.
She was born to the late Albert and Alice Adkins Ashley of Dille on Oct. 13,1923. Lorene was the sole survivor of eleven children.
Lorene and Doy resided in Ohio from 1953 to 1988, when they returned to their hometown of Dille, where their hearts had remained. Her greatest joy was in caring for her family and playing her guitar. She was a gifted- self taught musician, providing family and friends with the joy of her music daily.
She was a member of the Big Union Baptist Church in Dille and until her health began to fail was an active member of the Elk Valley Ladies Mission and the church choir. She enjoyed her final days at home with the gentle care of her family and Darlene Skaggs, and her Hospice Care Givers Trista Rush, Amy Bailes, and Angie Butler. We are so grateful for their loving guidance.
She is preceded in death by her parents, daughter: Phyllis Barr, brothers: Elvin, Russell, Vaden, and Bob, Twins: Arnet and Arnel and Billy Ashley, sisters: Lana Walker, Pearl Fyle, and Nanny Ashley, and Great-Grandson Anthony Michael Zurava.
Lorene was the precious wife of Charles Doy Murphy for 66 blessed years and surviving daughters Elaine Corpe and husband Bud of Dille, and Sharon Henninger of Akron, OH, grandchildren Nikki Krum, Laura Wayne (Rich), Mieke Corpe, Angel Baker (Matt), and Jenni Schrader. Great-grandchildren: Victoria and Wesley Smith, Nichalaus Corpe, Jordan, Jesse and Jarret Baker, and Madi, and Ian Schrader and Jada Wayne. Great-great grandson: Carter Anthony Styron-Smith.
Funeral services were held on Thursday, Nov. 3, 2011 at Big Union Baptist Church with Rev. Danny Richardson officiating. Friends called on Wednesday from 6-8pm at the church. Burial was in the Walker Cemetery, near Birch River. The family suggests donations to: Big Union Baptist Church P. O. Box 98 Dille, WV 26617 or Hospice Care 1606 Kanawha BLVD> Charleston, WV 25367.
