Charles L. Hardway
Charles L. Hardway, 81, passed away on Wednesday, October 19, 2011 at Mercy Regional Medical Center in Lorain, OH.
Charles was born on August 26,1930 in Gassaway, West Virginia to his loving parents, William Earl and Ocie B. (nee: Hacker) Hardway.
He was a graduate of Gassaway High School, Class of 1949 and he moved to Lorain, OH following graduation to work as a car inspector for the Railroad. He met and married his beloved wife, Glenna (nee: Cromwell) Hardway on August 4, 1950. They raised 4 loving children together. Charles worked for the railroad for 43 years and retired from Conrail Fairlane Yard in Lorain, OH. He was a member of Cornerstone United Methodist Church in Elyria, OH, where he was a church trustee for several years. Charles enjoyed model trains, his clock collection, and the outdoors, especially hunting, fishing and wildlife.
He is survived by his beloved wife of 61 years of marriage, Glenna R. Hardway; children, Debby Cantrell of Norwalk, OH, Charles M. (Christina) Hardway of Lorain, OH, Robert A. (Karen) Hardway of Wakeman, OH and Michelle E. (Raymond) Paynter of Elyria, OH; brother, Earl Hardway Jr.; sisters, Wanda Rogers and Eloise Frame; 6 grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren.
He is preceded in death by his parents; and brothers, Eugene and Darrel.
The family received friends at Reidy-Scanlan-Giovannazzo Funeral Home, 2150 Broadway, Lorain, OH (440) 244-1961 on Sunday, October 23, 2011 from 1:00 to 6:00 PM. Funeral services were held at the funeral home on Monday, October 24, 2011 at 10:00 AM, Pastor Paula Marbury, officiating. Memorial donations may be made to Cornerstone United Methodist Church, 2949 West River Rd, Elyria, OH 44035. Christian burial services were held at Ridge Hill Memorial Park, Amherst Twp., OH. Jack L. Smith
Jack L. Smith, 77, of Wheeling, WV, died Saturday, September 17, 2011 at Wheeling Hospital. He was born June 22, 1934 in Burnsville, WV, the son of the late Home and Lola Ratliff Smith.
Jack graduated from Burnsville High School in 1953.
Jack retired as manager with Thom McAn shoe store after 37 years service and then he continued as a manager at Lorna’s Fine shoes. He also worked at Becker’s Hardware and the IOLA Club. He was a Methodist by faith.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, James Smith.
Surviving are his wife Linda Rode Smith; daughter, Stacey Elizondo (Josaphat) of Charlotte, NC, sons, Jack L. Smith (Tomma) of Martins Ferry, Ohio; Daniel J. Smith (Ranay) of Maynard, Ohio; brother, Gale Smith of Venice Beach, Calif.; sisters, Luella Strader (Roger of Sewickley, Pa. and Marlene Stewart of Chester, WV; grandchildren, Kayla, Jessica, Katie, Chloe, Josaphat, and Santiago; special friends, Slim, Troy, Stanley, Julianne, Holly, Kayley, Pam, Joe, and Dave. Friends were invited to a memorial visitation Friday, September 23, 2011, at Kepner Funeral Home, 166 Kruger St., Wheeling, WV, (304-242-2311) from 11 a.m. until the memorial service at 1 p.m., with Pastor Larry Lewis officiating. Interment will be held at the convenience of the family. Memorial contributions can be made to the WVU Eye Institute, P.O. Erma Lucille Smith
Erma Lucille Davis Smith, 84, of Little Birch, WV, went home to be with the Lord on November 3, 2011 in CAMC Memorial Hospital after a sudden illness. She was born March 25, 1927 in the Poplar Ridge Community, near Sutton, WV to the late Edgar and Eva Jenkins Davis.
She was a Beautician and a homemaker, a member of Little Birch Baptist Church.
Erma was preceded in death by her parents, and husband Paul E. Smith.
She is survived by her daughters: Debbie Hayes of Aiken, S.C. and Sue Warner and husband Raymond of Bradenton, FL., brother: Kent Davis of Brookwood, AL., and sisters: Velma Bailey of Millford, WV, and Loreda Bailes of Sutton, grandchildren: Melissa Drew, Jennifer Hayes, Chad Warner, Melanie Cook, great-grandchildren: Lori, Austin, Ashley, Brooke, Emma, Ava, Mitchel, Jessica, Sydney, Jacob, and Laila, and one great-great-grandchild Shaley.
Funeral services were held 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, November 5, 2011 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Be Be Marshall officiating. Burial followed the service in the Poplar Ridge Cemetery near Sutton. Friends called on Friday November 4, 2011 from 5-7 p.m. and one hour prior to the service at Greene- Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is humbled to serve the Smith Family.

Earl T. Henderson
Earl T. Henderson, 53, of Charleston, passed away after a long illness.
Earl was preceded in death, by his parents, Frank & Ann Snyder Henderson.
Surviving are his wife of 19 years, Julia Henderson; sons, Roger Hoard and family of Gassaway, and Eric Hoard and family of Sutton; daughter, Celia Henderson of Georgia; brother, Harvey Henderson of Sutton; sisters, Ruth Dean of Flatwoods, and Sue Hinkle of Sutton.
There will be private family services at a later date.
Cunningham-Parker-Johnson Funeral Home is serving the Henderson family.

Carlos Lee Johnson
Carlos Lee Johnson, 75, of Birch River died Wednesday, November 9, 2011, in Summersville Regional Medical Center.
He was the son of the late Russell and Josephine Ramsey Johnson and was born in Clay on June 23, 1936. He was also preceded in death by one daughter, Kimberly Elaine Tinnel.
He was a truck driver and attended the Powells Mountain Baptist Church.
Surviving: companion, Cathy Bennett; two sons, Jeffrey Carlos Johnson and wife, Crystal, of Sutton and Shannon Lee Bennett of Birch River; two daughters, Carlisa Robin Coffman and husband, Tony, and Marsha Cook and husband, David, all of Birch River; two stepdaughters, Tiffany Bennett of Fayetteville and Christina Bennett of Hackensack, N.J.; brother, Ray Johnson of Craigsville; sister, Patricia Ann Hickman of South Carolina; six grandchildren and one great-granddaughter.
Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Friday, November 11, in Waters Funeral Chapel, Summersville. Burial followed in Birch River Cemetery.
Friends called at the funeral chapel from noon until service time on Friday.

Mr. Lowell Sampson
Mr. Lowell Sampson, 85 of Calhoun County passed away May 26, 2014 in the Hubbard Hospice House.
Arrangements are incomplete and our Kanawha City location is serving the Sampson family.

Tammy “Robin” Gokey
Tammy “Robin” Gokey, 50, of Flatwoods, passed away Thursday, Nov. 17, 2011 after a short illness.
She was born on June 20, 1961 in Mullens, WV a daughter of the late Eddie and Bertie Blankenship. Robin was a five year resident of Flatwoods and Baptist by faith. She was employed as a Pharmacy Technician at Rite Aid Pharmacy in Sutton, WV.
Robin is survived by her husband Doug of Heaters, daughters, Shelly and Terry Lynn Hatfield both of Georgia. Brothers, Gale Blankenship of PA, and Dale Blankenship of CA. Sister Sandra Blankenship of Virginia. Also surviving is her mother in-law, Cindy Sykes of Heaters.
Funeral Services were held at 2:00 PM on Sunday Nov. 20, 2011 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV. Her final resting place was Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV. Friends called from 6-8:00 PM Saturday evening at the Funeral Home.

Gray Moore
Gray Glen Moore (Pappy), 82, passed away Nov. 7, 2011 at AlterCare in Wadsworth, OH. Gray was born May 22, 1929 to the late RD and Bessie (Long) Moore in Braxton County.
He retired from the Columbia Gas Company after 32 years of service. He was a firefighter for Chippewa Lake for 19 years. Gray also worked at Chippewa Lake Amusement Park for many years. He loved fishing, camping, woodworking and bluegrass music. Pappy attended Church at the Lake in Chippewa Lake, where he resided for 59 years.
He is survived by his loving wife of 56 years, Wanda (Scott) Moore; beloved daughter, Regina (Fred) Murray of Lodi, OH; grandchildren, Jerimaha and Jessica Murray of Lodi, OH, Bobbie Jean Moore of Polk, OH, Dustin Marie Whitmore of Sterling, OH, great-grandchildren: Alex and Trinton Barr of Polk, OH and R.J. Wiles of Sterling, OH; Brother Harold (Genevieve) Moore of Gassaway and Aunt Mildred Moore of Grafton, OH; and many special nieces, nephews and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his parents and son on Aug. 9, 2011. Pappy will be deeply missed by special bluegrass friends and all who knew and loved him.

Johnnie Harold Mollohan
Johnnie Harold Mollohan, 67 of Birch River passed away Thursday November 17, 2011 in the CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston. He was the son of the late Harold and Lenora Willard Mollohan and was born in Sutton March 17, 1944. He was a retired electrician, a U.S. Air Force veteran and a member of the Grand Order of the Royal Leprechauns.
He was also preceded in death by his former wife Jill Mollohan.
Surviving are his Wife, Connie Ann Workman Mollohan; Son, John J. Mollohan of Felton, Delaware; 3 daughters Angela Downs of Dover, Delaware, Andrea Mollohan of Felton, Delaware, and Amber Jenkins of Charlotte, North Carolina; 2 brothers, Jim Mollohan of Bridgeville, Delaware and Jackie Mollohan of Birch River; 3 Grandchildren, Maegan, Maddox and Mckenzie and 3 Great Grandchildren Addie, Ian and Amara.
Funeral services were conducted Sunday November 20, 2011 at 2 p.m. in the Birch River Baptist Church with Rev. Tessa Herrick officiating. Burial followed in the Walker Cemetery at Keeners Ridge.
The Waters Funeral Chapel in Summersville was in charge of arrangements.

Johnny Ray Rogers
Johnny Ray Rogers, 57, of Rosedale, died March 12, 2014.
He was born August 25, 1956 in Lorain, OH a son of the late Arlen and Bessie Dobbins Rogers.
He was a sawmill worker and a laborer.
He is survived by brothers, James Rogers of Akron, OH and Keith Rogers of Litchfield, OH; half sisters, Virginia Chavez and Judy Rogers.
Graveside service were held at 3:30 p.m., Sunday, March 16, 2014 at the Rosedale Community Cemetery with Pastor Scott Raynor officiating.
Arrangements by Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

Maxine June Quickel
Maxine June Quickel Jones, 89, of Looneyville, formerly of Gassaway, passed away March 17, 2014 at Thomas Memorial Hospital.
She was born June 15, 1924 a daughter of the late William Henry and Gertrude Hoover Quickel.
Maxine was a homemaker. She loved to fish and play games and cards with her family and enjoy a good bowl of popcorn.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Jones and nine siblings.
She is survived by daughters, Dorma Walker (Ronnie) of Gassaway, Brenda Colonius (Gary) of Medina, OH, Sherry Rader (Shorty) of Chapel and Pam Stevens (Jesse) of Looneyville; eight grandchildren, Michelle, Perry, Travis, Kenneth, Karri Jo, Rebecca Jesse Jr. and Sherri Lynn; eight great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
Service were Saturday, March 22, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Thomas Cox officiating. Burial was in the Beall’s Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
