Lana Charlene Dion, of Naples, Fla., formerly of Huntington, passed away Oct. 28, 2005, at home. Memorial services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville. She was born Feb. 16, 1972, in Lake Forest, Ill., a daughter of the late Leo and Bonnie Dion. She is survived by two daughters, Tanya Baisden and Shelbey Dion both of Beckley, W.Va.; one son, Anthony Baisden of Oceana, W.Va.; sisters, Teresa Dion of N.H., Karris Ropher, of Ill., Denise Dion of South Point, Ohio, Dede Card of Chesapeake, Ohio, Patty Greer of Barboursville, Cheryl Dion of Ohio; brothers, David Dion of N.H., George Dion of Ohio, Louis Dion of Elkins, Ill., and Steve Dion of Mo.; the love of her life, Louie Burgos; special thanks to friends, Kimmy, Chana and Carrie and a host of family and friends.

John Randell Hodges

John Randell Hodges, 59, of Culloden, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral service were conducted Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at Beard Mortuary, Huntington, with the Rev. Tom Hastie officiating. Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. He was born June 26, 1946, in Huntington, a son of the late Oschel and Flossie Virginia Barker Hodges. He was also preceded in his death by his infant son, John Randell Hodges, II. He was an active member of the Milton Presbyterian Church. He is survived by his wife, Karen Sue “Susie” Hodges; one daughter, Sarah Beth Hodges Huffman and husband, James of Branchland, W.Va.; one son, Robert Edward Hodges of Culloden; one sister, Bonnie Wheeler of Hayward, Calif.; his aunt, Marguerite Murdock of North Wilkesboro, N.C.; four grandchildren, Dustin, Tanisha, Jacob, and Katelyn; and many special friends. Those who wish may make donations to the Milton Presbyterian Church.

L. Virginia Paugh Johnson

L. Virginia Paugh Johnson, 76, of Huntington, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Sunday, Nov. 13, 2005, at White Chapel Memorial Gardens Mausoleum by Pastor Bob Ray. She was born July 27, 1929, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Leonard and Virgie Ferguson Paugh. She was preceded in death by her husband, Gray Johnson; two sisters, Naomi Callahan and Lenora Wilcox Meeks; three brothers, Raymond, Denver and Curtis Paugh. She attended the Fellowship Baptist Church. A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Ginny leaves behind one daughter, Sandra Johnson Moellendick of Belpre, Ohio; two sons, Steven and Terry Johnson of Huntington; two sisters, Nannie Wilson and Glendora Wilcox of Huntington; six grandchildren, Jeff Johnson of Huntington, Brian Moellendick of Belpre, Ohio, Lisa Johnson Robson of Huntington, Brad Moellendick of Schenectady, N.Y., Andrew Johnson and Matthew Johnson, both of Huntington; four great-grandchildren, Brianna, Corey, Olivia, and Alexis; and her special friend Earl Massie of Barboursville. Pallbearers were Brian and Brad Moellendick, Andy and Matt Johnson, Bill Clark and Darryl Anderson. Honorary pallbearer was Jeff Johnson. TWallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Rebecca Ann Powell

Rebecca Ann Powell, 55, of Huntington, died Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 at Cabell Huntington Hospital. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at the Wallace Funeral Home and Chapel, Barboursville by the Rev. Richard Black. Burial in U.B. Cemetery, Milton. Rebecca was born July 1, 1950, in Cabell County, the daughter of Wilma JoAnn James Meadows of Huntington. She was preceded in death by her stepfather, Johnnie Luther Meadows and her father, Bill Powell. She is survived by four brothers, Martin Meadows; nephew, Scott and Sonja; great-nephew, Dawson; great-niece, Macy, all of Alabama; Billy Powell and wife, Drema; nephew, Zach; niece, Madison, all of Barboursville; Donald Powell, Billy Keith Brown and wife, Jessie, and Louie Thompson, all of Huntington; two sisters, Melinda Perry and her husband, Anthony; nephew, John and niece, Amber all of Huntington and Mary Scarberry; niece, Faith; nephew, Mitch, all of Huntington; several aunts and uncles and a host of loving family and friends.

Raymond “Pete” Saunders

Raymond “Pete” Saunders, 63, of Milton, passed away Thursday, Nov. 10, 2005, in St. Mary’s Medical Center. A memorial service was conducted Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with the Rev. Tracy Mills officiating. Raymond was born July 12, 1942 in Cabell County the son of Raymond “Pete” and Lorain Pancake Saunders. He is also survived by his loving wife, Patricia Gail Saunders; one son, David Scott Saunders; one grandson, Tallon Bri Saunders; one sister, Sherry Nobel and her husband Reginald of Bowling Green, Ohio; two brothers, Calvert Saunders and his wife Patty of Roanoke, Va. and Todd Saunders of Bentonville, Ark.

Steven B. Reynolds

Steven B. Reynolds, 57, of Huntington, walked the path to meet his Lord Tuesday, Nov. 8, 2005 after a long fight with cancer. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, Nov. 12, 2005 at Heck Funeral Home, Milton with Pastor Phil Wilson officiating. Burial in Portersville Cemetery. Steven is a Vietnam Veteran and a member of Christ United Methodist Church and retired from Willis Heating and Plumbing. He enjoyed camping, hiking, drag racing, deer hunting and bluegrass music. He had a sense of humor all of us will never forget. He was born Sept. 7, 1948, in Huntington, a son of the late Albert Lee Reynolds. Survivors that will greatly miss him are his wife, Debra Reynolds; two daughters, Michelle Reynolds and Stephanie Meadows and her husband David; his mother, Evelyn Reynolds; two grandsons, Nicholas Reynolds and Dustin Meadows; two brothers Greg and Mike Reynolds; along with his aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews and many friends. A special thanks to his special friends at Hospice of Huntington. Donations may be sent to Hospice of Huntington.

Lillian L. Tope

Lillian L. Tope, 83, of Myrtle Beach, S.C., formerly of Milton, died Tuesday, November 8, 2005 in Conway Manor, Conway, S.C. Funeral services were conducted Saturday, November 12, 2005 at Heck Funeral Home; burial Teays Valley Memorial Gardens, Winfield.

Dola Bell Messinger
Dola Bell Messinger, 87, of Milton, W.Va., passed away Sunday, September 25, 2005,
at St. Mary's Medical Center. She was born January 29, 1918, in Branchland,
W.Va., a daughter of the late David and Stella Winters Lucas. She was a
homemaker, a member of Mount Moriah Baptist Church at Fall Creek, and a member of
Eastern Star. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, James Robert
Kelley, her second husband Kessler Messinger, four brothers, Ishmal, Chalmer, Ezra
and Melvin Lucas, and three sisters, Ada Gibson, Della Messinger and Delia
Messinger. She is survived by one son and daughter-in-law, Dallas and Judith
Kelley of Milton, W.Va.; one grandson and his wife, Dallas II and Michelle Kelley
of Milton; two great-grandchildren, Morgan and Chandler Kelley of Milton; and four
stepchildren, Larry, Mary, Sue and Sharon. Funeral services were conducted
Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at McGhee-Handley Funeral Home, West Hamlin, with
Chelsea Gibson and Zach Bills officiating. Burial in Midkiff Cemetery, Pleasant
View, W.Va.

Bruce Whitt
Bruce Whitt, 87, of Barboursville, W.Va., and formerly of North Matewan, W.Va.,
Passed away Monday, September 26, 2005, at his home. Funeral services were
conducted Wednesday, September 28, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel,
Barboursville, by Dr. Ed Grant and the Rev. Ralph Sager. Entombment in White
Chapel Memorial Gardens. He was born August 10, 1918, at Varney, W.Va., son of
the late Alex and Edith Ferrell Whitt. He was also preceded in death by two
brothers, Willis and Frank Whitt. He was retired from the W.Va. State Tax
Department, a veteran of World War II, having served in the Army Air Force, a
member of the Steele Memorial United Methodist Church, past president of the
Matewan Rotary Club, and a Red Cross Volunteer for five years. He is survived by
his wife, Janice Hendricks Whitt; one daughter, Jana Whitt of Barboursville,
W.Va.; two sons and daughters-in-law, Rod and Sally Whitt of Barboursville, and
Frank and Marilyn Whitt of Magnolia, Texas ; four grandchildren, Amy and Alex Whitt
of Barboursville, and Jennifer Lopez and Kim Caldwell of Texas ; and three great-
grandchildren; two brothers and sisters-in-law, Ralph and Magalee Whitt and Don
and Mabel Whitt, all of Arizona. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that
memorial contributions, be made to Steele Memorial United Methodist Church
Building Fund or Hospice of Huntington.

Doris Cleo Clary
Doris Cleo Clary, 79, of Lesage, WV, widow of Lewellyn Clary Jr., passed away
Tuesday, September 27, 2005, in Mariner Health Care of Huntington. She was born
December 7, 1925, in Huntington, a daughter of the late Leonard William and Lelia
Ash Turner. Also preceding her in death was a son, Gary Clary. She was a
homemaker. Survivors include one son, James Clary of Lesage; her dog Bear; special
cousins, Earl Meadows of South Point, Ohio, and Phyllis Strathman of Proctorville,
Ohio; special friends, Clarice Baumgardner of Lesage, Ellen Scheidler of Milton
and Dennis and Betty Osburn of Huntington; and a host of other friends. Doris
wanted to send a personal "Thank You" to the 5th floor staff at St. Mary's Medical
Center and the 3rd floor staff at Mariner Health Care for their kindness and
excellent care she received during her stay. She wanted to say "Goodbye" to all
the friends she made. Chapman's Mortuary, Huntington, was in charge of
arrangements.

Roberta Ellen Adkins
Roberta Ellen Adkins, 73, of Hurricane, died Sunday, Sept. 28, 2005, in Putnam
General Hospital, Hurricane, after a short illness. She was retired from Shoney's
Restaurant, St. Albans. Surviving are her daughters, Donna Pennington and Cora
Grass of Hurricane and Rosalee Reed of Point Pleasant; her sons, Robert
McCallister of St. Albans; her brother, Owen Thomas of New Mexico; 13
grandchildren and 15 special grandchildren, Nathaniel, Olivia and Mollie Waugh,
Gabrial Lippert, Dustin Garrett, Brian and Christopher Oliver, Tabitha and Britani
Oliver, Brittany, Heather and Jonathan Taylor and Katelyn, Bailey and Braxton
Gatens. Services were held Saturday, Oct. 1, at Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane,
with Dr. Dan Hogan officiating. Burial in Thaxton Cemetery, Alum Creek.

Jerrel L. Hodges
Jerrel L. Hodges, 69, of Hurricane, WV, went home to be with the Lord and sing in
the heavenly choir on Friday, September 30, 2005. Born March 24, 1936 in
Hurricane, WV, he was a son of the late Stephen and Marguerite Erwin Hodges. He
was also preceded in death by his brother, Lyle Hodges; his sisters, Reba
Sutlovich, Oma Bowen, and Lillian Hodges. Jerrel was a Christian and a lifelong
member, teacher and deacon of Adda Baptist Church, Hurricane, WV, where he
faithfully served and worshipped. He enjoyed studying the word of the Lord, his
grandchildren, and friends, hunting, fishing, and the farm. Jerrel is survived by
his wife of 49 years, Dixie Ball Hodges; his children, Jerry Hodges and his wife
Cindy of Scott Depot, WV, Michael Hodges and his wife, Mary-Lynn of Saline, Mich.;
his grandchildren, Jeremy Hodges and his wife Sarah of Scott Depot, WV, Jarrod
Hodges of Scott Depot, WV, and Isaac and Ellie Hodges of Saline, Mich. Also
surviving are his brothers, Stephen Hodges Jr. and his wife Karen of Scott Depot,
WV, Dorsel Hodges and his wife Jane of Hurricane, WV; and his sisters, Wilma
Leslie and Wanda Gibson and her husband Bob all of Winfield, WV. Services were
held October 4, 2005 at Adda Baptist Church, Hurricane, WV, with the Rev. Charles
Moses, the Rev. Benny Bess, and the Rev. Tim Gilfilen officiating. Burial in Lower
Hodges Cemetery, Hurricane. Chapman Funeral Home, Hurricane was in charge of
arrangements. Memorial Contributions may be made to either Adda Baptist Church,
2200 Poplar Fork Road, Winfield, WV 25213 or the Lower Hodges Cemetery Fund, in
care of Dave Young, 1402 Poplar Fork Road, Winfield, WV 25213.

Margaret Ann Thomas
Margaret Ann Thomas, 75, of Scott Depot, WV, formerly of St. Albans, passed away
Thursday, September 29, 2005 at her residence. She was a homemaker and member of
Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Scott Depot, and a charter member of the ladies
auxiliary FMC Sportsman Club, Winfield, WV. Margaret was preceded in death by her
husband, Robert I. Thomas; and parents, Thomas Henry and Effie Ann Wooten Edwards.
She is survived by her daughters, Karen T. Hodges of Scott Depot, WV, Donetta
Thomas of Charleston; sons, Robert R. Thomas of Logan, WV, and Roger Thomas of
Huntington, WV; sister, Henryetta Larck of St. Albans; brother, Donald Edwards of
South Charleston; grandchildren, Robert E., Rick, Kevin, Michelle, Amy, Traci
Shaw, Leia Gabrielle, Sara Michelle, and Jacob Mason Thomas. Funeral services were
held Monday, October 3, 2005 at Good Shepherd Baptist Church, Scott Depot, WV,
with the Pastor Ken Stidham officiating. Burial in Cunningham Memorial Park, St.
Albans. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.
