Howard Lee James
Howard Lee James, 63, of Frametown, passed away November 24, 2014 at Braxton Health Care and Rehabilitation Center, Flatwoods.
Howard was born November 29, 1950 in Gassaway a son of the late Howard and Ruth Bail James.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by brothers, Vernon James of Parkersburg and Roy James of Frametown; sister, Blanche James of Frametown.
He is survived by sister, Rita Campbell of Pennsylvania; brother, John Edward James of Parkersburg.
Service was held at 2 p.m. Friday, November 28, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Mark Stump officiated. Burial was in the William James Cemetery on Leatherwood.
Friends called two hours prior to service.

William Paul Emerich
William Paul Emerich, 78, of Polemic Run, died November 25, 2014 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 10, 1936 in Tennessee a son of the late Jack U. and Ella B. Singleton Emerich.
He was retired from the United States Air Force with 20 years of service. He travelled all over the world and the U.S. (Germany, Turkey, Italy, Mexico, Belize, Panama and the Philippians, Texas, Indiana, Florida, Alaska, and Oklahoma) during his career.
He was also a retired manager for McDonald’s before moving back home to West Virginia. He was a member of the St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gassaway and the Knights of Columbus.
In addition to his parents he was preceded in death by siblings, John V. Emerich, Eugene Emerich, James M. Emerich and Velma “Sue” Emerich Deeds.
He is survived by children, James T. Emerich, William J. Emerich, Jonathan P. Emerich, Jacqueline S. Emerich Penick, Michael J. Emerich, and Matthew R. Emerich; siblings, Betty K. Emerich Thomas,
Margaret A. Emerich Allen, Charles R. Emerich and Kenneth W. Emerich; 8 grandchildren, 2 great grandchildren.
A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated 9:30 a.m. Wednesday, December 3, 2014 at St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gassaway with Father Rene Gerona as celebrant. Interment with military rites will be in the WV National Cemetery, Pruntytown.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday with a prayer service beginning at 7 p.m. at the Richard M. Roach Funeral home, Gassaway.

Leroy Cook
LeRoy Cook, 62, of Gassaway, passed away Monday, January 26, 2015 at Braxton Memorial Hospital, Gassaway.
He was born July 27, 1952 in Sutton, the son of the late John Leonard & Mary Bernice Jarvis Cook. Also preceding him in death were his sisters, Carolyn S. Williford, Janice L. Miller and Mary Ann Botley.
LeRoy was a Construction Worker.
He is survived by his loving wife, Patricia Riffle Cook, son, David Lee Cook (Angela) of Cairo, WV, step-son, David Riffle of Huntington, WV, step-daughter, Tabitha Mays (Daniel) of Flatwoods, brothers, John D. Cook (Shirley), James W. Cook (Ann), Larry D. Cook and Charles T. Cook (Anita) all of Sutton, sisters, Norma J. Cook and Bobbie J. Barker (Mitch) both of Sutton, 7 loving grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.
Funeral services were held 1:00 p.m. Thursday January 29, 2015 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Dr. Allan Copenhaver officiating. Burial followed at Camden Hill Cemetery, Sutton. Friends called Wednesday January 28, 2015 6-8 p.m. at the funeral home.

John Timothy Dean
John Timothy Dean, 50 of Kodak, TN, formerly of Gassaway, died January 25, 2015 at home.
He was born July 11, 1964 in Gassaway a son of the late Johnny and Mary Carpenter Dean.
John was a construction worker for C. Laney and Sons Company and member of the Army National Guard.
He is survived by his fiancé, Beverly Hill of Kodak, TN; son, Zechariah Dean of Gassaway; daughter, Masia Dean of Gassaway; brothers, Shane Dean and wife, Linda of Mansfield, OH and Rick Dean and wife, Connie of Fredericktown, OH.
Service was held at 1 p.m. Wednesday, January 28, 2015 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Rodney England officiating. Friends called two hours prior to the service.
Per John’s request his body will be cremated following the service.

Mr. Henry Lee Owens
Mr. Henry Lee Owens 58, of Sissonville went home to be with the Lord May 17, 2014
He will be sadly missed by his caregivers.
Graveside service will be at 10:00 AM Thursday May 27, 2014 at Haven of Rest Memory Gardens Red House, WV

Beulah A. Yeaples
Beulah A. Yeaples, age 93 of Dayton, passed away January 23, 2015 at Maria Joseph Living Care Center. She was born June 16, 1921 in Gassaway, Braxton County, W.Va to the late Henry Clay and Mary Elizabeth (Priddy) Smith. Beulah was preceded in death by her husband, Donald Yeaples; son, Lawrence McNerney; siblings, John Smith, Virginia May Smith-Pierce, Fred Byrle Smith, James Alvin Smith and Thelma Ruth Smith-Muchmore.
She is survived by her children, Donna June Meyers, Douglas Randolph, Cheryl Miles, Marsha Lynn McNerney; numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Beulah served during WWII in the Woman’s Army Corps (WAAC) where she was awarded the Victory Medal.
Visitation was held from 9:30-10:30 am on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Newcomer Funeral Home, North Chapel, 4104 Needmore Rd. where a funeral service began at 10:30 am. Interment followed at 12 noon at Dayton National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Maria Joseph Living Care Center, in Beulah’s memory.

Clyde “Jake” Edward Criner
Clyde “Jake” Edward Criner, 80, a resident of Pasandena for 55 years and formerly of Baltimore died on January 17, 2015 at Baltimore Washington Medical Center.
He was born on October 21, 1934 in Frametown, WV to the late Arthur B. and Lorena M. Criner. Mr Criner retired from BGE in 1992 after 27 years of service. He was very active with the Little League in the 1970’s as an Umpire and Coach, and worked in Boy Scouting. He was also a neighborhood repairman. Mr. Criner also enjoyed deer hunting on the Eastern Shore and West Virginia. He served in the National Guard and transitioned into the US Army in 1957 serving until 1959 when he was honorably discharged.
Mr. Criner is survived by his wife of 60 years, Joan A. Criner, his son Glenn E. Criner of Ellijay, GA, his daughters Lori L. Lentowski of Timonium and Jeanette R Hefley of Dallas, TX, and his grandchildren Amber Criner, Amy Lentowski, Sydney Renshaw, Timothy Criner, and Jillian Lentowski.
Friends called on Wednesday from 3:00 to 5:00 and 7:00 to 9:00pm at the Stallings Funeral Home, P.A. where funeral services were held on Thursday at 9am, interment Md. Veterans Cemetery Crownsville. Memorial contributions may be made to Magothy United Methodist Church Door Step Mission, 3703 Mountain Rd., Pasadena, MD 21122.

Sarah Lenore Given Rollyson
Sarah Lenore Given Rollyson, 83, of Parkersburg, died January 1, 2015 at her home after an extended battle with Alzheimer/Dementia.
She was a loving wife to the late James L. Rollyson.
She is survived by son, Michael Rollyson; daughters, Debbie Ketterman and Kris Rollyson; grandchildren, Stacie, Michelle, Kristopher, Timothy, Kerry, Bernie, Cynthia and Jamie; 19 great grandchildren.
In addition to her husband she was preceded in death by daughter, Donna Rollyson; son, Jimmy Rollyson.
The family would like to express thank you to Larry Byrd for helping to take care of their loving mother.
Memorial Service were held at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 10, 2015 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Bryon Bukovesky officiating.

Nellie “Mae” Brown
Nellie “Mae” Brown, 91, of Sutton, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Thursday, January 29, 2015 at Braxton Health & Rehabilitation Center, Sutton.
She was born April 4, 1923 in Sutton the daughter of the late James & Emma Facemire Hosey.
Mae was a homemaker and a member of Spruce Lick United Methodist Church.
She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Minter Brown, sisters, Irene Lynch, Thelma Ruth Webb, Wanda Jean Long, Betty Jenkins, and infants- Dorothy, Virginia, Phyllis, brothers, infant-Robert , Homer and Gaylord Hosey.
Mae is survived by her son; James “Russell” Dennison of Sutton and sister; Judy Thayer of Sutton.
Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. Tuesday, February 3, 2015 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Earl Elliott officiating. Burial will follow at Barker Ridge Cemetery, near Sutton. Friends called Monday, February 2, 2015 6-8 pm at the funeral home.

R. Doyle Skinner
R. Doyle Skinner, 83, of Glenville, WV, went to be with the Lord on February 07, 2015 at the United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV, following a short illness. Doyle was born on October 17, 1931 in Braxton County, WV. He was the son of the late Okey G. and Flody Mae (McCauley) Skinner. On March 25, 1961, he married Marie Smith, who survives him.
Also preceding him in death are his infant daughter, Sandra Lou; brothers, John W. Skinner and J. Cam Skinner.
Those left to honor his memory are his wife of 52 years, Marie Smith Skinner; son, Fred Skinner; daughters, Mary Ellen Mortenson and Diane Hutchinson; seven grandchildren; 4 great-grandchildren; two loving feline companions.
Doyle served his Country in the United States Army, serving in the Korean War. In 1970, he opened Skinner Auto in Glenville, working as the owner and operator, even recently continuing to provide limited services for Gilmer County. He was a loyal, active member of the Glenville Lion’s Club, where he loved to serve hot dogs, corn dogs, as well as help to make apple butter during the carnival and the Folk Festival in Glenville. He was a member of the First Baptist Church of Glenville. Doyle loved talking with people, telling stories, hunting, and dearly enjoyed playing Santa Clause for the Head Start children.
The family will receive friends from 11:00am to 1:00pm on Wednesday, February 11, 2015 at Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home at 378 Flatwoods Corner Rd. in Flatwoods, WV 26621. Funeral Services will follow in the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Chapel with Reverend Kenneth Fisher officiating. Interment will follow in the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens in Heaters, WV with full Military Honors conducted by the Lewis County Honor Guard.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to the Glenville Lions Club, PO Box 855 Glenville, WV 26351 or to the First Baptist Church of Glenville, PO Box 237 Glenville, WV 26351.
