Ella Louise Carte
Ella Louise Carte, 79, of Dille, went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, July 31, 2015 at Summersville Regional Medical Center.
She was born June 29, 1936 on Keeners Ridge, Birch River.
Ella was a homemaker and worked at Hardy’s restaurant, She was a member of Big Union Baptist Church in Dille.
Ella is survived by her sons; Gary Carte of Charleston, and John Carte of Sutton, daughter; Debbie Hall of Dille, 2 grandsons; Brian and Chris.
Funeral services were held at 1:00 p.m., Tuesday, August 4, 2015 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Ray Teets officiating. Burial followed at Walker Cemetery, near Keeners Ridge. Friends called Tuesday, August 4, 2015 after 12:00 pm at the funeral home.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Carte family.

Rodney Wayne Patterson
Rodney Wayne Patterson, 49, of Frametown, passed away July 29, 2015.
He was born August 28, 1965 in Gassaway.
Rodney was a truck driver and loved to hunt and fish.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Betty Jean Hamrick Patterson; brother, John Allen Patterson.
He is survived by son, Rodney Wayne Patterson of Barberton, OH; daughters, Elizabeth Patterson and Stephanie Patterson both of Barberton, OH; father, Fred Patterson of Clay; brothers, David Patterson of Ivydale and Michael Patterson of Mt. Airy, NC; sisters, Cheryl Parks and Sandra Teapole both of Frametown, Jolene Belt of Bomont, and Diana Taylor of Frametown; three grandchildren.
Service will be 1 p.m. Monday, August 3, 2015 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Bob Mylott officiating. Interment will be in the Hamrick Cemetery, Swandale.
Visitation will be two hours prior.

Brodis Lee Sawyers, Sr.
Brodis Lee Sawyers, Sr. 89, of Sutton passed away August 9, 2015 at home with his family by his side.
He was born May 30, 1926 in Belfont, WV the son of the late Charles and Louisia Sawyers. Also preceding him in death was brothers, Jerry, Dwight, and Glen, sisters, Lois Hamrick, Madge Jenkins, Cleotia Young, Marie Ellison, Avis Smith, and Vena Barnette.
Brodis enjoyed tending his vegetable and flower gardens, hunting and fishing, wood working and crafting anything he could make into ornaments.
Surviving him are his wife of 42 years, Beulah Knight Sawyers, son Brodis Sawyers, Jr. at home, several nieces and nephews and his faithful dog, Cleo.
Funeral services were 1:00 pm Saturday August 15, 2015 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton, WV with Rev. Scott Belknap officiating. Burial followed at Tinney Cemetery, Run Road, Sutton with American Legion Post #33, Sutton, giving military graveside rite. Family received friends one hour prior the service at the funeral home.
Family suggest donations be made to: Greene-Robertson Funeral Home P.O. Box 404 Sutton, WV 26601 for Brodis L. Sawyers, Sr. burial fund.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is honored to be serving the Sawyers family.

Vernon “Bud” Harold Johnson
Vernon “Bud” Harold Johnson, 87, of Sutton, WV, passed away August 27, 2015. Vernon was born on April 11, 1928 and was the son of the late Russell Vernon Johnson and Susan (Tonkins) Johnson. He was preceded in death by his wife, Betty Jane (Morrison) Johnson, whom he married on January 5, 1950 and who passed away on July 20, 2011. Several brothers and sisters preceded him in death, Carl Lee Johnson, Lanora Rae Johnson, Dorothy Lucille Garcia, Gary Kent Johnson, Kenneth Reed Johnson and Farrell Keith Johnson. Also preceding him in death was a son, Paul Johnson.
Those left to cherish his memory are sisters, Barbara Kay Given and husband, Jerry, of Sissionville, WV and Betty June Green of Warren, OH; one brother, Donald Hugh Johnson of Akron, OH; one son, Chuck Johnson and (Marilyn) of Minot, ND. Also surviving are grandchildren, David, Chad, Paul Jr., and Luke Johnson and great grandchildren, Josh and Prett Johnson.
Vernon was in the Army and served his Country in the Korean War where he was awarded the prestigious Bronze Star award. He was a catholic and enjoyed attending church. Some of his hobbies were fishing, and working with wood. He was employed for thirty plus years with WV American Water and was proud of this accomplishment.
Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 on Sunday, August 30, 2015 with a Rosary Service at 3:30 p.m. with Father Rene officiating and visitation from 4:00 am -8:00 p.m.
A Mass of Christian burial will be held on Monday, August 31, 2015 at the St. Thomas Catholic Church, Gassaway, WV at 10:30 a.m. with Father Rene officiating.
Graveside rights will follow at the Braxton County Cemetery, Sutton, WV, with full Military Honors being performed by the Braxton County American Legion Post 33 of Sutton, WV. Interment will follow in the Braxton County Cemetery in Sutton, WV, where he will be laid to rest next to his wife.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Margaret Hoover Scholarship Fund.
The Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods, WV is in charge of the arrangements for the Johnson family.

Patricia Alice Green
Patricia Alice Green, 9-18-1959 till 8-16-2015, age 55, of Frametown, WV was called home on August 16, 2015 after her long, courageous battle with cancer. Pattie passed peacefully in her sleep at her residence in Michigan. She was preceded in death by her parents, Joe and Oleta Jarvis, and the one true love of her life, her husband Russell G. Carpenter, all of Constantine, MI.
Surviving and missing Pattie Alice terribly are her brothers; Joe Jarvis of Three Rivers, MI, John (Claire) Jarvis of Constantine, MI, and Brian Jarvis of Duck, WV. Pattie also leaves nices and nephews whom she dearly loved; Jeremiah, Joshua and Jennifer Jarvis, Catilina Vasquez, all of Constantine, MI, Andrew Swan, Crystal Wynn both of Uniontown, MI.
There will be a grave side service for friends and family Saturday September 5, 2015 at the Elimira Cemetery beginning at 2:00 pm. IN lieu of flowers the family requests you please donate to the cancer charity of your choice.
Pattie Alice was dearly loved and will be truly missed by her family and friends. Rest in peace Pattie Alice, rest in peace.

Phyllis “Jean” Frame
Phyllis “Jean” Frame, 80, of Wilson Ridge entered in rest on August 28, 2015 to be with her Lord and Saviour, surrounded at home by family and friends, as she wished.
She was preceded in death by her father, Earl Hamrick; mother, Ope Adkins Hamrick; and brother, Junior Hamrick.
Jean is survived by her husband, Paul Frame; daughter, Diana Sparks and “son” Joe Sparks; granddaughter, Amie Minor and husband, Steve; great granddaughter, Katlin; great grandson, Zachary; and one brother, Jennings Hamrick.
She attended her beloved church, Peoples Community Church until illness prevented her from going.
Jean was “second mom” to many and a blessing to those that knew her.
A worthier wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, we could not find.
She was so gentle, loving, kind.
She was the one-tried and true,
Did for us, all she could do.
The many things that we did need,
She gave her best, she did give heed.
As for us, she did so care,
Always doing more than her share.
All thru our lives, and later years,
She shared our joys and dried our tears.
Such a great love she had for her “son”,
Bringing forth her chuckle, while bringing life’s fun.
She was the best there was to me,
With such a woman God was so pleased!

(She will be greatly missed by her family)
Graveside service will be 2 p.m. Saturday, August 29, 2015 at the Walnut Grove Cemetery, Strange Creek with Pastor Freddie Schoolcraft officiating.
In lieu of flowers the family request that donations be made to Walnut Grove Cemetery, c/o Rhonda Frame, 2206 Wilson Ridge Rd, Duck, WV 25063.

Harold Eugene Rexroad
Harold Eugene Rexroad, 94, of Gassaway, passed away September 11, 2015 at home surrounded by his loved ones.
He was born January 27, 1921 at Curtain, WV a son of the late Jesse Skyler and Lona B. (Frame) Rexroad.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Bayward and Kenneth Rexroad; sisters, Opal Rollyson and Edyth Oleta Rexroad, and Granddaughter, Lynn Ann Rexroad.
Harold was an Army Air Force veteran of WWII. He was self-employed with the saw mill, Lawn and Garden and car dealership. He was a Baptist. He was a loving Father, Grandfather, Great-Grandfather, and Great-Great Grandfather.
Harold is survived by his loving companion, Veneda Christine White Rexroad; sons, Arlis Steven Rexroad and wife, Linda of Elmira, Dana Irvin Rexroad, Michael Eugene Rexroad and wife, Marsha, Gary Allen Rexroad and wife, Betsy, all of Gassaway; daughters, Norma Sue Williams and husband Bruce of Fayetteville, Sandra Lea Truman and husband, Randall of Sarasota, FL; sister-in-law, Nancy Rexroad of Gassaway; grandchildren, Jeff Rexroad and wife, Connie of Gulfport, Mississippi, Greg Rexroad and wife, Teresa of Abingdon, Virginia, Jason Rexroad and wife, Sarah, of Duck, Mark Rexroad and wife, Lorie of Oak Hill, Duane Rexroad and wife, Laura of Sutton, Amy Knight and husband, Roger of Sutton, Christina McCumbers, and husband Charles of Frametown, Leslie Toppings and husband, Bobby of Glenville, Barbara Myers and husband, BO of Gassaway, Craig Williams of Baltimore, Maryland, Matthew Williams and wife, Cindy of Baltimore, Maryland, Travis Rexroad of Los Angeles, California, Ryan Rexroad and wife, Emma of St. Albans, WV, Jessica Truman and AJ Truman both of Sarasota, FL, 16 great-grandchildren and 14 great-great grandchildren
Service will be 2pm Monday, September 14, 2015 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Mark Stump officiating. Burial with military rites will be in the Beall’s Mill Cemetery, Gassaway. Visitation will be two hours prior to service at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be mailed to Hospice Care Corporation, PO Box 323, Burnsville, WV 26335. Arrangements by Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway.

Mary Susan Brown Black (1926-2015)
Mary Susan Black, 89, of Stouts Mills, Gilmer County, died peacefully in her home on Sunday, August 9th. She was born in Ames, Iowa on June 9, 1926, the daughter of the late Oral A. and Mary McMorrow Brown, both of whom hailed from Braxton County.
Mary attended elementary school in Ames and later graduated from Coffee County High School in Enterprise, AL. She graduated with a degree in English from Auburn University in 1945.
After graduation, she taught English at Auburn and later at West Virginia University in Morgantown.
After returning to Stouts Mills, Mary worked for a time at the Glenville State College library.
She later became the head librarian at the Burnsville Public Library, where she served the community for over 30 years.
Mary was a staunch conservationist and was the primary steward of her family farm for over 60 years. She gardened, raised cattle and embraced progressive organic and agricultural concepts.
She was a voracious reader who never tired of learning and was known for her keen wit, interest in politics, and tireless support of environmental preservation causes. In addition to her parents, Mary was preceded in death by her husband, Kenneth Black, and her brother William Brown of Nevada. She is survived by her son David of Pittsburgh, PA. In accordance with Mary’s wishes, no public memorial service will be held. Anyone wishing to honor her memory is encouraged to make a memorial contribution to either the Burnsville Public Library (235 Kanawha St, Burnsville, WV 26335 / (304) 853-2338) or the Gilmer Public Library (214 Walnut St, Glenville, WV 26351 / (304) 462-5620).
