Madden Asher Smith
Madden Asher Smith went home to be with Jesus on Tuesday, May 20th, 2014.
Madden is survived by his parents, Jennifer and Jeremy Smith; sisters, Morgan, Ashlynn, Carson, and Madelynn; brothers, Cole and Maddox; maternal grandparents, Bill and Diane Slimick; paternal grandmother, Sharon Smith; uncles, Billy Slimick and Barry Smith; and cousin, Taylor.
Madden was preceded in death by his paternal grandfather, Robert Smith.
Madden may have only lived 47 short days, but he touched the lives of many people!!!

A thief is only there to steal and kill and destroy. I came so they can have real and eternal life, more and better life than they ever dreamed of.
The only peace we have is knowing Madden has life more abundantly in heaven with Jesus! We will see Madden again soon!!
A celebration of Madden’s life will be held on Wednesday, May 28th, 2014. Visitation is from 1:00pm - 2:00pm at Kingdom Life Fellowship Church, 405 1st Avenue, Nitro. The funeral will start at 2:00pm.
In lieu of flowers, a fund has been set up for Madelynn College Fund. Please send donations to the family at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home.

Mrs. Katheryn J. Mann-McCann
Mrs. Katheryn Jane Mann-McCann, 63 of Poca passed away October 13, 2014 in Cornerstone Hospital of Huntington.
She is survived by her husband John McCann.
A gathering of family and friends will be from 5 to 7 PM Monday October 20, 2014 at Gatens-Harding Funeral Home Chapel.
Dennis Glen Moyers
Dennis Glen Moyers, 80, of Wilsie, passed away August 16, 2016 at home.
He was born February 18, 1936 in Braxton County a son of the late Dennis Orville and Glenna Ramsey Moyers.
He was owner of Moyers TV Sales and Repairs and Moyers Store in Wilsie. He was a member of the Charity Baptist Churchy and a U.S. Army veteran.
He is survived by son, Kevin Mark Moyers of Wilsie; daughter, Cija Lee Shackleford of Clarksburg; brother Bill Moyers and wife, Susan of Florida; sisters, Ellen Isophene Mitchell of Wilsie and Marilyn Gillenwater and husband, Terry of Frametown; grandchildren, Mark Anthony Moyers, Joshua Waugh, Cody Shackleford and Samantha Shackleford.
He was preceded in death by sons, Jeff and John; brother, Richard Moyers; sister, Helen Connolly.
Per Mr. Moyers’ request, his body was cremated.
A memorial service will be held 3:30 p.m. Sunday, August 21 at the Hope Baptist Church, Frametown with the Rev. Rich Demastus officiating.
Visitation will be from 2 p.m. till time of service at the church.

Earl Blaine Geary
Earl Blaine Geary, 82, of Sutton, passed away on August 20, 2016 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV.
He was born January 5, 1934 in Clay County, WV the son of the late Earl Blaine and Marie Engle Geary. He and his family moved to Braxton County when Blaine was 6 years old. He dearly enjoyed his hunting buddies and time spent at the camp.
Blaine retired from C& P Telephone company with 35 years of service. He served his country during the Korean Conflict in the US Navy. Blaine was a proud Charter member of Sutton Volunteer Fire Department.
He is survived by his loving wife; M. O’Dessa Davis Geary, son’s: Stephen Bruce Geary and George Blaine Geary both of Exchange, daughter’s: Linda Keener of Gassaway, and Elizabeth Null of Charleston,5 grandchildren; James V. Keener, III, Croix Blaine Keener, Ashley Marie Geary, Coby Lee Null, and Tyson McRae Null.
Memorial Graveside services will be held in the Sutton Cemetery at a later date.

Carolyn Lea (Foster) McNeil
Carolyn Lea (Foster) McNeil, 70, of Sutton WV, departed this life on Saturday, August 20, 2016 at United Hospital Center in Clarksburg, WV. She was born on November 26, 1945, to the late Opha Foster and Martha “Francis” (Kashola) Foster in Gassaway, WV.
In addition to her parents, Carolyn is preceded in death by her first husband, Ophia Kenneth Turner, her daughter, Eva Darlene Turner, and her brother, Ophie “Bubby” Foster.
Those left to honor her memory are her husband, Bobby Wayne McNeil; Son, Michael Turner (Tina) of Palmetto, GA; Daughters, Dorlinda Sartin (Gary) of Crites Mountain, Little Birch, WV, Robin Linger (Chris) of Sutton, WV; (5) Grandchildren, Mike Turner, Sara Turner, Chris “CJ” Linger, Baxter Sartin, Allen Thayer; (3) Great Grandchildren, Bryant Sartin, Jada Sartin and Alexander Sartin. Also surviving are Sisters, Dianne Melvin (Basil) of Exchange, WV, Joan Stein (Clyde) of NY.
Carolyn was a Christian by faith, attending Cutlip Fork Church. She enjoyed tending to her garden, roses, and houseplants. She had a love for nature and wildlife, and found joy in fishing. She was an avid animal lover and kept many pets, including her dogs, Wally, Tiny and Hitler; her cat, Snowball; and many fish and frogs in her aquarium.
Family will receive friends on Friday, August 26, 2016 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road in Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 6:00-9:00 pm. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, August 27, 2016 at 11:00 a.m. at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow in the Westfall Cemetery.

Beatrice Skidmore
Beatrice Skidmore, 95, of New Cumberland, WV, died Friday, August 19, 2016.She was born December 18, 1920, in Belfont, WV. She was the daughter of Clyde and Mary Belle (Carr) Skidmore of Belfont and later Frametown, WV.
Her grandparents were Sam and Malissa (Pete Rollyson-Francene Dobbins) Skidmore of Belfont. Also John Stanley and Margaret Alice (Adam Jackson Hyer-Hannah Rogers) Carr of Belfont.
Sam’s parents were Allen and Malinda (Lyons) Skidmore, and John Stanley’s parents were John and Sarah Ann (Singleton) Carr. Sam and Malissa’s parents, and John Stanley and Margaret Alice’s parents, were her great-grandparents.
She was a 1982 retiree of Weirton Steel Tin Mill Division with 30 years service. During World War II, she worked at Goodyear in Akron, OH, and the shipyards in Lorain, OH.
She was Christian by faith and was baptized by immersion by Rev. John Cromwell at the First Baptist Church in Weirton, WV, April 20, 1975.
At that time she was active in the church, belonging to Phi Tau Kappa Circle, Star of the Valley Rebekahs and the Ladies Auxiliary to the Veterans of Foreign Wars Panhandle Post. She bowled in the Tin Mill Ladies League.
She took trips on the senior’s bus to Mount Vernon and Arlington Cemetery in Washington and to President Eisenhower’s Home place in KS.
She had three brothers, Wilbur and Nelodean Skidmore, Bivins, TX, Hunter Skidmore, Belfont, WV, and Dallas Sidmore, Belfont, WV.
She had seven sisters, Sylvia Carr ,McConnellsville, OH, Wilsie and Creed Hashman, Heaters, WV, Ruby and Lloyd Boggs, Woodsfield, OH, Betty and Spud Hamric, Glenville, WV, Margaret and Bob Knapp, Copley, OH, Bridget and Jack Chapman of Glenville, WV, and Marie and Jim Chapman of Weston, WV.
She is survived by a daughter, Nancy Skidmore Frohnapfel of New Cumberland, WV. Her three grandchildren are David Frohnapfel, John Frohnapfel and Beth Frohnapfel Harvey. Her five great-grandchildren are C J, Malachy, Aaron, Emmaline and Emilie.
She loved and spoiled her family, and they loved her too. She will be sadly missed, especially at Christmas time, the most wonderful time of the year.
Friends and family can visit at the Nixon Funeral Home in New Cumberland Sunday, August 21, 2016, from 3-5 p.m. A funeral service will be held there Monday, August 22, 2016 at 11 a.m.
Burial will be in the New Cumberland Cemetery.
Kaota “Kay” Perkins
Kaota “Kay” Perkins, passed away peacefully on October 14, 2015 at the Braxton Health Care Center after a long illness.
She was born October 20, 1934 the late Russell and Ethel James Friend.
Kay was a waitress in early years and was also a homemaker who loved taking care of her parents.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by her son, Bobby Brady; her daughter, Vicki Shaver, brother, James “Bud” Friend; sisters, Jacqueline Pace and Wanda Duffield.
Surviving to cherish her memory is her loving husband, Richard H. Perkins; daughter, Nancy Brady of Gassaway; son, Shaun Nardella of Columbus, OH; seven grandchildren; several nieces and nephews and lots and lots of friends.
Per Kay’s request her body will be cremated.
There will be no services.

Betty Jane Cantrell
Betty Jane Cantrell, 85, of Duck, passed away January 29, 2016 at Hubbard Hospice House, Charleston.
She was born March 6, 1930 a daughter of the late Ernest “Red” and Grace Seabolt Truman.
She was preceded in death by bothers, Alfred and Joe Truman; sisters, Olga Ratliff, Lizzie Shingler and Ann Johnson.
She was a homemaker and a member of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church.
Betty is survived by her husband of 65 years, Charles Cantrell; sons, Randy Cantrell (Mahalia) of Duck and Ernie Cantrell (Debbie) of Frametown; daughter, Patty Mayes of Duck; brother, Okey “Doc” Truman (JoAnn) of Duck; sister, Joan Dawson (Jim) of Duck; grandchildren, Julie Greenlee (Brian) of Duck, Jeremy Cantrell (Brenna) of Duck, Amanda Chapman (Derek) of Duck and Emily Parlett (Jason) of Frametown; 14 great grandchildren; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at the Hubbard Hospice House for their kindness and comfort they provided.
The family request that no flowers be sent and that memorial donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311.
Service were at 3 p.m. Sunday, January 31, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Bob Jett officiating. Interment was in the Cantrell Family Cemetery, Duck.
Visitation was from two hours prior to service at the funeral home.

Charles E. James
Charles E. James, age 87 of Hickory Street, Grafton, WV passed away Thursday, January 21, 2016 at his residence.
He was born June 1, 1928 in Charleston, WV a son of the late Ovrin R. James and Mary Elizabeth (Frasier) James.
He is survived by three daughters, Carolyn S. Moran, Sharon K. Duckworth, and Mary Ann James, all of Grafton; seven grandchildren and sixteen great-grandchildren; one brother, William E. James and wife Garnett, of Gassaway, WV; one sister-in-law, Mae James also of Gassaway; and also survived by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his former wife, Mary Kathryn (Engel) Jones; one brother, Orvin R. James, and one sister, Mary Lou Thompson.
Charlie was graduate of Braxton County High School with the Class of 1946. He was a veteran of the US Army, serving with the National Guard and chief dispatcher for the Chessie Railroad Company in Grafton.
He was a member of the Gassaway Masonic Lodge, a member of the Grafton Elks Lodge #308, the V.F.W. Memorial City Post #3081, and the Taylor County Post #12 American Legion.
He was a very avid golfer and bowler, and also enjoyed playing cards.
The family will receive friends at the Donald G. Ford Funeral Home in Grafton on Monday, January 25, 2016 from 4:00 -8:00 P.M.
Funeral services will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday, January 26, 2016 at 12:00 Noon with Pastor Michael Stottlemyer officiating.
Interment will follow at the WV National Cemetery in Grafton.
