Peggy E. (Townsend) Bragg
Peggy E. (Townsend) Bragg, 76, of Crawford, WV, formerly of Copen, WV, went to be with the Lord on January 22, 2016 after a long illness.
She was born in Gilmer County, WV, on June 6, 1939 to Arthur and Lena (Parsons) Townsend. On August 16, 1955, she married Robert Lee Bragg of Copen.
Peggy was preceded in death by her loving husband of 56 years, Robert Lee Bragg; parents, Arthur and Lena Townsend; sisters, Jackie Love and Marian James; brothers, Jerry Townsend, Bruce Townsend, and Paul Townsend; one great-grandson, Tristan Boggs.
Those left to honor her memory are son, Jeffrey Bragg of Gassaway, WV; daughters, Regina (Virgil) Bright of Gassaway; Joyce (Kenneth) Kincaid of Crawford, WV. Also surviving are her brother, Michael (Dolores) Townsend of Weston, WV; grandsons, Jeffrey T. (Malocka) Bragg of FL, Zachary Bragg of Little Birch, WV, Michael (Jillian) Bright of Ripley, WV, Cody Kincaid of Indiana; granddaughters, Shani (Rob) Radcliff of Sutton, WV, Clarissa (Josh) Boggs of Gassaway, Chynna Bragg of Parkersburg, WV, Misty (Scotty) Vaughan of Gassaway, and Stephanie Kincaid of Crawford. In addition, there are 8 great-grandsons, 3 great-granddaughters and several nieces and nephews surviving.
She worked at the Weston State Hospital for 25 years before retiring. Peggy loved crafts and gardening, especially her flowers. She loved her family dearly, especially her children and grandchildren. She will be missed by many, both family and friends.
The family will receive friends on Thursday, January 28, 2016 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621, from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m., with the funeral service following at 1:00 p.m. with the Pastor Dwayne Brown officiating. Interment will follow at the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens. The Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods, WV is honored to be serving the Bragg Family.

Rodney D. Green
Rodney D. Green, 50, of Akron, OH, died Jan. 14, 2016 at Essex Health Care Center in Tallmadge, Ohio of natural causes.
He was the son of Wanda and Bill Green, deceased. Surviving: brothers Jack of Akron and Mark Green of Sutton. No service is planned.

Rupert C. Nicholas
Rupert C. Nicholas, 86, of Duck, passed away at Hubbard Hospice House West, January 25, 2016.
He was born August 23, 1929, a son of the late I.A. “Coot” and Grace Frame Nicholas.
He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 64 years, Marian; sisters, Belva Hall, Beulah Mumaw and Acelee Casale.
Rupert was an Army veteran of the Korean Conflict, coal miner, school bus driver, carpenter and a bridge construction superintendent. He also loved the outdoors and was an avid hunter and gardener. He was a deacon of the Villa Nova Missionary Baptist Church and a founding member of the Servia Volunteer Fire Department.
Rupert was a beloved husband, dad, grandpa and brother. He is survived by daughters, Karen Carr of Gassaway and Judy Davis (Ron) of Frametown; son, Rupert A. Nicholas (Valerie) of Duck. Also surviving are cherished grandchildren, Kristi and Ian Davis, Nathaniel and Caroline Nicholas; sister, Pearl Matuska; brothers, Harry “Golden” and Bill Nicholas; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Thursday, January 28, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor John Cole officiating. Interment will be in the Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway.
Visitation will be from 6 to 9 p.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston, WV 25311 or to the Servia Volunteer Fire Dept., c/o Philip McKown, 244 White Pine Lane, Frametown, WV 26623.

Harold Vance Ellis
Harold Vance Ellis, 92, of Court Ave. Weston, formerly of Sutton, passed away at 9:20 pm on Thursday, January 28, 2016 in the comfort of his home with his loving family by his side.
He was born in McWhorter WV on September 2, 1923 a son of the late William Rhodes Ellis and Sylvia Madge Hall Ellis.
On November 22, 1950 he married the former Helen Agnes Weber and they celebrated 59 years of marriage before her passing on October 28, 2010.
His kind and funny nature will be carried by his eight children: Susan Murphy of Weston, Carol Frame and husband, Joe, of Gassaway, Mary Grace Ellis of Nitro, Sylvia Mallion of Camden, Elizabeth Hawkins and husband, John, of Sutton, Phillip Ellis of Camden, Thomas Ellis and wife, Kathy, of Weston, and William Ellis and wife, Carol, of Gassaway; sister-in-law, Phyllis Ellis of Madison, AL; brother-in-law, Clarence Weber and wife, Mary Lou, of Weston; five grandchildren: Sarah Murphy of Harpers Ferry, Sean and Erin Hawkins of Sutton, Jessica Ellis of Morgantown, and Jacob Ellis of Gassaway; two step grandchildren: Sonora Rogers and husband, Shea, of Jane Lew, and Katelyn Paige of Charleston; three great grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by one daughter, Jeanne Ellis; one sister, Thelma Boyles and husband, Harold; and one brother, Robert Ellis.
Harold graduated from Lost Creek High School with the class of 1941. He became an honored veteran of the United States Marine Corps who served as a navigator in the South Pacific during World War II. He played baseball and basketball while attending WV Wesleyan College where he graduated in 1948 with a Bachelor of Science Degree. He went on to earn his Masters in Education from WVU in 1950.
In 1985, he retired as the Southern Divisional Manager for the Monongahela Power Company, having served the company for 33 years. Harold was committed to investing in his community. He was the fundraising coordinator for the Braxton County Memorial Hospital, director of the Buckwheat Festival in Kingwood as well as the WV Centennial Parade in Webster Springs, and was a member of the Lions Club. He enjoyed hunting, golfing, painting, playing horseshoes, feeding the birds, and spending time with his family.
Friends and family will gather at the St. Patrick’s Catholic Church from 11 am – 1 pm on Tuesday, February 2, 2016. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 1:00 pm with Reverend Father J. Stephen Vallelonga as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Weston Masonic Cemetery. Full military honors will be accorded by the United States Marine Corps and the Lewis County Honor Guard.

Donnie K. Goodson
Donnie K. Goodson, 47, of Birch River, died January 22, 2016 at CAMC General Hospital.
He was born October 4, 1968 in Gassaway.
He was preceded in death by his father, Harold “Bunny” Goodson.
Donnie is survived by his mother, Louise Rohrbough Goodson of Gassaway; brothers, James Goodson and wife Donna of Birch River, William Goodson and Leroy Goodson both of Gassaway; sisters, Connie Spinks of Gassaway and Karen Boggs of Charleston; uncles, Earl, Ed and Jerry Rohrbough all of Gassaway and Steve Rohrbough of Texas; aunts, Lilly Spoonmaker, Lola Setter and Marsha Frame all of Morgantown; several nieces, nephews and cousins.
Service will be 1 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with the Rev. Johnny Conrad officiating. Burial will be in the Strange Creek Cemetery.
Visitation will be two hours prior to service.

Richard H. Perkins
Richard H. Perkins, 83, of Gassaway, died January 21, 2016 at CAMC General Hospital from injuries sustained in an automobile accident.
He was born May 12, 1932 at Centralia a son of the late William D. and Laura Jane Tharp Perkins.
He was a former police officer and a security guard for John Skidmore Development, Inc. He was an Air Force veteran. He was a Baptist.
He was preceded in death by wife, Kaota “Kay” Perkins; four brothers and two sisters.
He is survived by stepdaughter, Nancy Brady of Gassaway; stepson, Shaun Nardella of Columbus, OH; sister, Alidene Bender of Flatwoods; several nieces and nephews.
Richard’s body was cremated.
There will be no services.

Merl Coen
Merl Coen age 86 of Murfreesboro, Tennessee passed away January 9, 2016. She was born in Braxton County WV on January 1, 1930, to the late Fred and Ida Brown.
Merl worked as a Nurse’s Aide for over twenty years before retiring from Mt. Royal Villa Nursing Home in Brunswick, Ohio.
Merl is survived by her daughter Nancy Arabie; sisters Lena Bess, Berta Dixon; brother Bob Brown; five grandchildren; thirteen great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband Ottis Coen; daughters Linda Coen, and Debra Skills; granddaughter Vicki Skills; sisters Irene Starcher, Mabel Butcher; brothers Buck, Ira, Junior and Charles Brown.
Funeral services were held at Waite & Son Funeral Home Medina, Ohio with Ray Teets officiating. Burial was in Eastlawn Memorial Gardens.

Martha Jo Long
Martha Jo Long, 76, of Gassaway passed away January 28, 2016 at her home surrounded by family.
Martha was born February 2, 1939 at Ivydale a daughter of the late Thurston Von and Mabel Hash Friend.
She was a homemaker; a 50 year member of the Order of the Eastern Star and a Baptist. She loved her family greatly and enjoyed attending all of her grandchildren’s activities. She was an avid Mountaineer fan.
Martha was preceded in death by brother, John Marion Friend.
Martha is survived by her husband, Bobby “Bob” Long; children, Kevin Long (Kathy) of Reynoldsburg, OH, Karin Miller (Brett) of Shock and Kris Long (Elyse) of Huntersville, NC; grandchildren, Bailey Long, Lindsey Long, Kasey Smith (Bryan), Bethany Frymier (Zach), Katelyn Miller, Karlee Miller, Kaylee Miller, Jackson Long and Davis Long; great grandchild, Kaden Smith; siblings, Carolyn Dean (Homer) of Arizona, Shelba Gillespie (Ronnie) of West Virginia, Von Friend (Nancy) of South Carolina and Linda Mobley (Charles) of Tennessee; several nieces and nephews.
The family would like to thank the staff at Glenville Center and Hospice Care of Burnsville for their care and compassion.
Per Martha’s request her body was cremated.
In lieu of flowers memorial donations may be made to Hospice Care, P.O. Box 323, Burnsville, WV 26335.
Memorial Service will be 8 p.m. Saturday, January 30, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Brett Miller officiating.
Visitation will be two hours prior to memorial service.

Mr. Jerry E. Guy
Mr. Jerry Edward Guy, 54 of St. Albans went home to be with the Lord October 14, 2014 in St. Mary's Medical Center.
Jerry is an employee of Komax Business Systems and retired from the U.S. Postal Service. He was a member and lead usher at Maranatha Fellowship Church. He loved to walk and was an avid bowler.
He is survived by his wife Melinda Guy; parents Ralph and Loraine Guy of Chesapeake; children Andrea and husband Terry Mayhew of St. Albans, Becca Guy of St. Albans and Josh Guy of South Charleston; brother Ralph Guy of Chesapeake; sister Mary Rollins of St. Albans and three grandchildren.
The family would like to say a special thank you to the MICU staff at St. Mary's Medical Center and Dr. Beam for all the loving care given to Jerry and his family.
A tribute to the life of Jerry will be 7:00 PM Friday October 17, 2014 at Maranatha Fellowship Church with Pastor Terry Hogue officiating. The family will receive friends from 5 to 7 PM Friday at the church.
Burial will be 10:00 AM Saturday October 18, 2014 at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens.

Okey Ernest “Doc” Truman
Okey Ernest “Doc” Truman, 79, of Duck, went home to be with his Lord on March 1, 2016, at the Hubbard Hospice House following a short illness and surrounded by his family.
He was an ordained Baptist minister and retired from the Braxton County Board of Education as a kindergarten teachers’ aide.
He was the son of the late Ernest and Grace Seabolt Truman.
He was preceded in death by brothers, Alfred and Joseph Truman. He was also preceded by sisters Olga Ratliff, Betty Cantrell, Lizzie Shingler, and Ann Johnson. His only surviving sister is Joan Dawson of Duck.
He is survived by his wife of 59 years, JoAnn Walker Truman; son, Joe Bob Truman and wife Terrie, and daughter, Luella Truman Gunter and husband Jeff.
His grandchildren are Jacob Truman, Joshua Truman, Olivia Truman Williams (Todd Williams), Avery Gunter, Anna Gunter and Emma Gunter. He had 4 great granddaughters and was loved by many nieces and nephews.
Service was held Noon, Saturday, March 5, 2016 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Joe Bob Truman officiating. Burial was at the Truman Cemetery, Servia.
Visitation was two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the Hubbard Hospice House, 1001 Curtis Price Way, Charleston WV, 25311.
