Betty Jo Campbell
Betty Jo Campbell, 83, of Elmira, passed away November 29, 2014 at Hubbard Hospice House West.
She was born December 29, 1930 in Fayette County a daughter of the late Dell and Blanche Burdette Garten.
She was a homemaker and a mother.
She is survived by children, Joy Davis (Alvin) of Akron, OH, Frank Campbell (Mary) of Colorado Springs, CO, Lucy Johnson (Art) of St. George, UT, Ted Campbell of Elmira, Sheila Mott (Russell) of Elizabethtown, KY and David Campbell (Reta) of Frametown; 25 grandchildren, 27 great grandchildren and 7 great-great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Denton Campbell; three brothers and four sisters.
Service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday, December 2, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral home, Gassaway with Pastor Dewey Tanner officiating. Burial will be in the Campbell Family Cemetery, Servia.
Friends may call one hour prior to the service.

Austin Nathan Dean
Austin Nathan Dean, 79, of Heaters WV, passed away following an illness on December 23, 2014. He was born on October 5, 1935, in Heaters, WV, to the late Arthur and Mary Dean.
Preceding Austin in death are his loving son, James Dean and brother Richard Pugh.
Austin is survived by his wife of 50 years, Vera (Slaughter) Dean; sons, Robert Dean, David Dean, and Charles Dean; daughters, Kathryn Sillman, Elizabeth Potts, and Deborah Cooke; seventeen grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren. He is also survived by his brother, Alvan Dean.
Austin was an avid collector of guns and enjoyed buying and trading for all makes and models. Attending auctions was another hobby that Austin enjoyed. He was an outdoors man with a love for hunting and fishing. Austin also loved spending time with friends, family, and especially his grandchildren. He also loved the company of his favorite companion, his dog.
The family received friends at Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, on Saturday, December 27, 2014 from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Funeral services were held Saturday, December 27, 2014 at 1:00 p.m. with Reverend Earl Cayton officiating. Interment followed the services at Dean Family Cemetery.
Stockert-Paletti Funeral home was honored to be caring for the Dean family during this time.

Daisy Brown Carroll
Daisy Brown Carroll, age 82, of Mcdonough, GA died Friday, December 26, 2014. She was born in Little Birch, WV to the late William Jennings and Virgie Celina Brown. She was also preceded in death by her husband Jay Virgil Carroll.
Daisy is survived by her children: Jay Patrick Carroll, Jackson, GA and Judith Ann Carroll-Mattei, San Diego, CA; a brother, Delmar Ray Brown, Princeton, WV; 5 grandchildren; and 3 great-grandchildren.
Graveside Services were held at 11:00 on Monday, December 29, 2014 at Eastlawn Memorial Gardens. Cannon Cleveland Funeral Directors, 770-914-1414.

Julius William Singleton
Julius William Singleton, 51, of 2685 Gem Road went to be with the Lord on November 26, 2014, at his residence surrounded by his family.
Julius was born in Sutton, WV, on March 25, 1963. He was the son of the late James Singleton and Virginia (Riffle) Singleton. On September 9, 1996, he married Mary (Losh) Singleton.
In addition to his wife, Julius is survived by two sons, James and Isaac Singleton of Gem; daughter, Barbara Stump of Gem; granddaughter, Hayleigh Singleton.
Julius was a graduate of Braxton County High School, a graduate of Glenville State College, and a graduate from Marshall University with a Master’s Degree in Education, and was working on a Doctorate degree in Education at Marshall University. He worked a number of years for WVU Tech as a Teacher’s Educator. Julius loved to hunt, was a hard worker, and enjoyed football, always rooting for the Dallas Cowboys and the Marshall Thundering Herd. Julius’s favorite activity was spending time with his family and going to church. He was a member of the Copen Independent Baptist Church.
Family received friends on Sunday, November 30, 2014 at the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, 378 Flatwoods Corner Road, Flatwoods, WV 26621 from 4-8 p.m.
Funeral services were held on Monday, December 1, 2014 from the Stockert-Paletti Funeral Chapel at 2:00 p.m. with Reverend Delmas Singleton officiating. Interment followed services in the Burnsville I.O.O.F. Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Stockert-Paletti Funeral Home, P.O. Box 292, Flatwoods, WV 26621 in memory of Julius Singleton.
The Stockert-Paletti Funeral will be caring for Julius William Singleton and his family.

David Keith Reeder
David Keith Reeder, 60, of Summersville, passed away after a two year battle with cancer on Monday, October 20, 2014 at Salem Center, Salem, WV.
He was born in Lorain, Ohio on Dec. 10, 1953, the son of the late Jesse William and Annabelle Tingler Reeder. Also preceding him in death was his sister, Anna Faye Reeder.
Keith was a professional truck driver, carpenter and loved to sell cars. Keith loved selling and working on cars, he loved his friends and family and was a joy to be around. He will be missed by all who knew him.
He is survived by his loving family, son; Julias Smith of Cleveland, OH, brother; Ronnie Reeder of Youngstown, OH., and sister; Teresa E. Hosey of Morgantown, several grandchildren; a host of nieces and nephews, 3 aunts; and 2 great-nephews.
Funeral services were held at 1:00pm on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home,
Sutton, with Pastor Delmas Singleton officiating. Friends called after 12:00 at the funeral home.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home was honored to be serving the Reeder family.

Jerome D. Roche
Jerome D. Roche, 75, of Heaters WV passed away at home Saturday October 18, 2014. He was born April, 17, 1939 in Boston Massachusetts to parents James and Gertrude Roche.
Jerome leaves behind his wife Alice Burroughs-Roche, whom he married January 9, 2001 in Arlington VA. He also leaves his step daughter Nancy Rose of Little Birch WV. In addition to his wife and daughter he leaves 3 Brother in-laws, Kirk Lane Burroughs of Heaters WV, Donald Burroughs of Heaters WV and Ronald Burroughs also of Heaters WV and a sister in-law Judy Burroughs of Exchange WV.
Jerome spent several years serving our country in the United States Army as a military policeman. He continued his career as a policeman and detective in Washington D.C. until he retired from law enforcement in 1988 with twenty years of service. Jerome loved his work as well as listening to country music and enjoying delicious foods and Ice cream.
Graveside services will be held at a later date.

Edith Dobbins
Edith Dobbins, 86, of Gassaway went to be with her Lord on October 25, 2014 at her daughter’s residence, following a long illness.
She was born July 1, 1928 in Clay County.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Herbert Dobbins and two infant daughters.
She is survived by two daughters, Malisia Holmes (Junior) of Birch River and Margaret Bennett (Wade) of Gassaway; sons, Frankie Dobbins and Foster Dobbins both of Gassaway, Howard Dobbins and Jerry Dobbins (Tammy) both of Kentucky; five sisters, one brother. Also Cindy Stout of Gassaway and Debbie Dobbins of Kentucky; several grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 29, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Bryon Bukovesky officiating. Burial will be in the Fairview Cemetery, Chapel.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Leala Blanche James
Leala Blanche James, 83, of Frametown, passed away September 27, 2014 at home.
She was born April 16, 1931 in Nicholas County a daughter of the late Howard and Ruth Bail James.
She was a faithful member of the Frametown United Methodist Church.
She loved to crochet and made baby blankets for the W.I.C. programs. She was a member of the Christian Women in Action.
She devoted her life to caring for her handicapped brother.
In addition to her parents she was also preceded in death by brothers, Vernon Paul James and Roy Ellis James.
She is survived by sister, Rita Campbell of Marysville, PA; brothers, Howard Lee James at home and John Edward James of Parkersburg; several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday, October 1, 2014 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with the Rev. Johnny Conrad officiating. Burial will be in the William James Cemetery, Leatherwood.
Friends may call from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Margaret S. Tyo Friend
Mrs. Margaret S. Tyo Friend, 74 years of age of Bridgeport, WV, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2014 at the United Hospital Center, Bridgeport, WV. She was born on July 23, 1940, the daughter of the late Frank and Helen Virginia Corley Tyo. Margaret is survived by her husband, Howard N. Friend. She is also survived by a son, Anthony “Tony” Friend and his wife Carrie of Clarksburg, WV; two granddaughters, Valerie Rose Friend and Dena Marie Friend; two brothers, William Edward Tyo and wife Patricia of Gassaway, WV and Stephen Keith Tyo and his wife Renee of Frametown, WV; three sisters, Joy Ann Hostadt ad husband Don of Hurricane, WV, Martha Jane Findley and husband of Charlie of Bridgeport, WV and Barbara Agnes Tinney and husband John of Sutton, WV.
She was also preceded in death by a brother, Frank Oldham Tyo. Her family was her life. Valerie and Dena affectionately called her “Mammie” for the many hours of love and care they received from her. Once Tony was older, Margaret went back to school to earn a licensed practical nurse certification. She worked for United Hospital Center for twenty six years and often used her breaks to comfort and rock newborn babies in the nursery. She was a member of the Bridgeport Chapter #11, Order of Eastern Star.
The family wants to acknowledge the nursing staff at United Hospital Center for the excellent care and support given their wife and mother during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, they ask that memorial donations be made in Margaret’s memory to the Humane Society of Harrison County, 2450 Saltwell Road, Shinnston, WV 26431.
A private service at the West Virginia National Cemetery, Pruntytown, WV will be held at a later date. The Friend family has entrusted the care and arrangements to the Ford Funeral Home, 215 East Main Street, Bridgeport, WV.

Jackie Bruce Shaw
Jackie Bruce Shaw, 59, of Sutton, passed away July 30, 2014 at Summersville Regional Medical Center.
He was born August 12, 1954 in Sutton, WV.
Jackie was a Deacon of the Shiloh Fellowship Church and a Christian. He loved fishing, camping, motorcycles and fixing everybody else’s stuff.
He is survived by wife, Rebecca Edgar Shaw; daughters, Christina Short and Theresa Shaw Lambert; parents, Grant and Phyllis Spaur Shaw of Sutton; brothers, Tony Shaw of Delaware and Michael Shaw of Summersville; seven grandchildren.
Graveside services were held at 11 a.m. Saturday, August 2, 2014 at the Barnett Cemetery, Bug Ridge, Sutton with Pastor Mark Hornish officiating.
A memorial service was held at 6:30 p.m. Sunday, August 3, 2014 at the Shiloh Fellowship, Sutton.
