Georgia Crockett
Georgia Crockett, 95, of Gassaway, passed away January 28, 2012 at home.
She was born December 5, 1916 a daughter of the late Christopher C. and Nora Estelle Rader Crockett.
She was a retired teacher from Braxton County Schools. She was a graduate of Glenville State College, attended Fairmont State College and received a Master’s Degree from Peabody College in Nashville, TN.
She was a protestant.
She was preceded in death by brothers, Robert L., George Gratton and Thomas Warren Crockett; sisters, Madge Baker, Mary Chenoweth, and Gladys Butcher.
She is survived by several nieces and nephews.
Service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday, February 1, 2012 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Stephen J. White officiating. Interment will be in the Beall’s Mill Cemetery, Gassaway.
Friends may call from 6 to 9 p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Mary Ellen Moats
Mary Ellen Moats, 68, of Flatwoods, WV passed away March 10, 2012 at Mountain Hospice Center in Elkins, WV after a long illness.
She was born on January 10, 1944 in Braxton Co. WV a daughter of the late Elbert and Agnes Bee Pullins. She was home maker and protestant.
She is preceeded in death by her parents, husband Arnie Moats, brother, Don Pullins and sister, Iva Pullins-Morrison.
Mary is survived by son, Dennis Moats of Flatwoods, daughter, Hazel Moats Hughes of Flatwoods. Brothers, Elden Pullins of Tesla, WV and Willie Pullins of Flatwoods. Four grandchildren and two great-grandchildren.
Funeral Services will be held at 2:00 PM Tuesday March 13, 2012 at Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods with Rev. Bill Griffin officiating. Burial will be in Stone Run Cemetery, Flatwoods. Friends may call two hours prior to the services.

Margurite Ratliff Cobb
Margurite Ratliff Cobb, 84 of Heaters, WV passed away Saturday March 10, 2012 at her home due to a sudden illness.
She was born on December 24, 1927 in Dutch, WV a daughter of Lillie Daily Ratliff. She graduated from Burnsville High School in 1948 and was a housewife, grandmother and great-grandmother.
She was married to the late Marvin J. Cobb who proceeded her in death and one grandchild, Eric.
Surviving are children, Nancy Allison of Mt. Sterling, KY, Jerry and Kathy Cobb of Weston, WV, Steven and Melody Cobb of Prairieville, LA. And Connie and Jay Stein of Carpinteria, CA. Grandchildren include, Brian Cobb and Gina, Tess and Dustin Ellenberger, Scott and Tamara Cobb, Ryan and Jamie Allison, Casey Moreau, Adam Allison, Jeremy and Nicole Moreau, and nine great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are sister in-law Patty Cobb, brother in-law Homer Cobb and Brother Bill Blake and wife Frena.
She was a Protestant and had a firm belief in God. Upon her request a private service will be held. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations to the Falls Mill Cemetery, c/o Velma Slaughter, 420 Curry Ridge Road, Napier, WV 26631. Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV is in charge of the arrangements.

Virginia Lee Davis Hall
Virginia Lee Davis Hall, 89, of Little Birch, formerly of Chapel, passed away October 22, 2013 at Braxton County Memorial Hospital.
She was a homemaker and a Christian. She enjoyed gospel music and loved to travel.
She is survived by husband, Paul D. Hall of Little Birch; stepsons, Robert Cunningham of Buckhannon and Philip Cunningham of Wooster, OH; daughter, Colletta Blankenship and husband, Paul of Chapel; grandchildren, Dale Blankenship, Sr. of Chapel, Treena Miller and husband, JP of Chapel, Lisa Davis and Dawn Davis both of Wadsworth, OH, Eric Davis of Sandyhook, KY, Mike Davis of Sutton and Tennille Wotring of Barberton, OH; great grandchildren, Robert “Bud” Blankenship and wife Leanna of Chapel, Mike Blankenship and wife, Leslie of Sutton, Justin Blankenship of Chapel, Dale Blankenship, Jr. and Haylee Blankenship both of Buckhannon, Amber Vaughan of Ashland, KY, Kyle Harpley, Kendall Sears, Olivia Davis, and Lilly Jean Gordon all of Wadsworth, OH, Katherine Watkins of Barberton, OH, Michaela and Madeline Davis both of Buckhannon; great great grandchildren, Jody Blankenship of Chapel, Nevaeh and Payton Blankenship both of Sutton.
She was preceded in death by husband, Chester D. Davis; son, Gene Brennon Davis; sisters, Rita and Rhoda; brother, Paul.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Friday, October 25, 2013 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Bobbie Harper, Sr. officiating. Burial followed in the Weston Masonic Cemetery, Weston.
Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home.

Larry Joe Loudin
Larry Joe Loudin, 77, of Sutton passed away on Monday October 21, 2013 at CAMC General Division, Charleston. He was born July 30, 1936 in Clarksburg, WV, the son of the late Derries Milhouse & Lelia Estel Bullman Loudin.
Larry was a Customer Service Representative for Mon Power. He was a member of Christ Church United Methodist, a graduate of Fairmont College, a member of Sutton Loins Club, a Navy veteran, member of The Sons of the American Revolution and was a volunteer at Braxton Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Jean Lenore Snyder Loudin; son, David Loudin of King George, Va.; daughter, Susan Loudin Mace & husband Mark of Staunton, Va.; grandchildren, Amy Loudin, Beth Loudin, Scott Loudin, Colin Clark, and Conor Clark.
Memorial services were held 2:00 p.m. Sunday, October 27, 2013 at Sunset Memorial Gardens, Kingwood, WV with the Rev. Jenny Williams officiating. Family received friends 6-8 p.m. Saturday October 26, 2013 at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.
The family suggests donations to be made to: Braxton Memorial Hospital Auxiliary, 100 Hoylman Dr. Gassaway, WV 26624.

Christopher Wayne Hall
Christopher Wayne Hall, 31, of Everett, Washington, passed away suddenly Sunday September 22, 2013. He was born September 2, 1982 in Duck, WV, and lived in Clay County and Braxton County, WV during his childhood. Christopher was a Class of 2000 graduate of Braxton County High School, WV.
After high school he attended Appalachian Bible College in Beckley, WV, Tennessee Temple University and was enrolled at West Virginia University under their Regent’s Bachelor’s program. He had moved to the Seattle area in 2002 and at his passing resided in Everett, WA where he was employed by The Boeing Company.
Survivors include his wife Rose Luskin and five children Katelynn, Robert, and Emily Hall, Haley Morris, and Connor Luskin. He also leaves behind his Father Robert Hall, of Clay, WV, his Mother Sherri (Johnson) Poling, of Clarksburg, WV, his brother Jonathan Hall, and niece Serenity Hall, of Charleston, WV, along with 1 aunt and 2 uncles.
Funeral Services were held at the Wilson-Shamblin-Smith Funeral Home, 154 Main Street, Clay, WV, on Saturday, October 26, 2013 at 1pm. Visitation for family was from 12pm – 1pm before the Services. Reverend Freddy Schoolcraft officiated. Interment will followed in the Otis Johnson Family Cemetery in Groves Creek, WV.

Suzanna LaJane “Suzie” Wilmoth
Suzanna LaJane “Suzie” Wilmoth went home to be with the Lord and dance with the angels on October 23, 2013 after a sudden illness.
She is survived by husband, Randy A. Wilmoth; daughter, Niketta Wilmoth of Clarksburg; parents, James R. and Elsie “Sue” Nicholas Buchanan. She is also survived by brother, James R. Buchanan and wife, Kim; sisters, Crystal Caplinger and husband, Jerry, Janice Moles and husband, Dave, Carol Withrow and husband, Lee; brothers-in-law, Paul and Roger Wilmoth; sisters-in-law, Paulette Long, Flo McNeamer, Jackie Adams, Lou Nicholas, Monika Guzzi, Marlene Pumphrey; numerous nieces and nephews that she loved like her own; Jake, Sarah, Buzzy, Jamie, Jerri, Erica, Trey, Kassee, as well as great nieces and nephews also that were very special to her.
Services were held at 1 p.m. Saturday, October 26, 2013 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Rev. Mike Long officiating.
Friends called two hours prior to the service at the funeral home.
At Suzie’s request her body will be cremated following services.

Jerry F. Crislip
Jerry F. Crislip, 73, of Lisbon, OH, died at 11:32 AM Sunday, October 20, 2013 at his home following a long illness. Mr. Crislip was born May 5, 1940 in Heaters, WV, a son of the late William R. and Beulah (Squires) Crislip. He graduated from Sutton High School in 1958 and came to the Lisbon area in 1960. He worked as a welder for Patterson Industries from 1961 to 1975 and served in the Army from 1963 to 1965. He was a welding instructor for East Liverpool High School from 1975 to 1995. Jerry was an avid hunter and fisherman and loved to work on cars in his younger days. He spent much time competing in trap shoots, was a member of Lisbon Eagles, American Legion in Glenmoore, and VFW Post 4111 in Lisbon. His family will remember him as an avid fan of Westerns and for inventing things. He could often be found in the garage tinkering or creating metal art. One of his favorite things to do, though, was to have fish fries with his friends. He leaves his wife Judy A. (Thirion) Crislip whom he married November 1966; his children Julie Crislip of Charlotte, NC, and Jackie (Eli) Shreeve of Lisbon, Jenna (Michael) Boyd of Stow; grandchildren Connor and Madison Shreeve; as well as his brothers Terry (Margie) Crislip of Burnsville, WV, and Larry (Carol) Crislip, of West Union, WV; a step-sister Debra Godfrey of Weston, WV and a brother-in-law, Robert Thirion of Lisbon. The funeral service officiated by Allan Foster was held at 1:00 PM Thursday, October 24, 2013 at the Weber Funeral Home in Lisbon, OH. Burial followed in Lisbon Cemetery. Family and friends gathered from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 PM Wednesday at the funeral home and one hour prior to the service on Thursday.

Mabel Smith
Mabel Smith, 93, of Bellevue, passed away Oct. 23, 2013 at the Willows at Bellevue.
She was born in Frametown, West Virginia on September 6, 1920 to the late Nannie (Boone) and Gaylord Petty.
On November 17, 1943 she married Garland Ramsey in West Virginia. Garland died in a train accident in Akron after returning home from WWII in 1946.
Mabel met and married Gene Gail Smith in 1966 in Prineville, Oregon, where they resided for 33 years. Gene preceded her in death in 1999.
Survivors include her sister, Jean (Noel) Carr of Bellevue; brother, Don (Bonnie) Petty of West Virginia; two step-sons: Randy (Dag-mar) Smith and Rodney Smith, both of Oregon; brother-in-law, Leo (George-Ann) Smith of Haines, Alaska; and nieces and nephews who were very special to her.
Mabel was also preceded in death by her sister, Josephine (Queen) Asher in 2003.
A service to celebrate Mabel’s life will take place at a later date in West Virginia. As Mabel requested, she will be buried in Sugar Creek Cemetery in Gassaway, West Virginia beside her husband and parents.
Auxter Funeral Home in Bellevue is assisting the family with the arrangements.

Emma Jean “Emogene” Squires
Emma Jean Squires (Emogene) 82, of Gassaway, WV, passed away on October 24, 2013 following a brief illness. She resided in Calcutta, Ohio until 2006.
Born June 5, 1931 in Polemic, WV, she was the daughter of the late Luther and Myra Sears. She was retired from Homer Laughlin China.
She is survived by her son, Robert L. Squires of Murrells Inlet, SC and daughters in-law Della C Squires of Murrells Inlet, SC and Alice Squires of Lisbon, Ohio; one brother, Cecil Sears of South Bend, Indiana. Also surviving are four grandchildren, Susan Squires-Donatelli of Flemington, NJ, Eric Squires of Little River, SC, David Squires of Salem, Ohio and Matthew Squires of E. Liverpool, Ohio. She is also survived by four great-granddaughters and one great-grandson.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Waymen Squires and son Richard Squires; brothers Ray, Roy and Orval Sears; sisters Ella Cutlip, Della Collins, Nellie Collins and Avanel Williams.
Visitation was held at 12:00 PM on Monday, October 28, 2013, followed by funeral service starting at 1:00PM at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home in Sutton, WV. Burial followed services in the Heaters Cemetery, Heaters, WV.

Lawrence Jackson Rogers
Lawrence Jackson Rogers, 83, of Grafton, WV formally of Newville, WV passed away on October 23, 2013 following an extended illness in the Grafton City Hospital in Grafton, WV following an extended illness. He was born on March 30, 1931 in Palmer, WV a son of the late Hayward Rogers and Gertrude (Salisbury) Rogers. In addition to his parents he was preceded in death four brothers Lorrain Rogers, Lincoln Rogers, Morgan Rogers, Lester Rogers and two sisters Lucile Sperry, Louise Rogers, and one niece Christine Rogers
Lawrence is survived by one brother Lako Rogers and nephews Eugene Rogers, Donald Rogers, and Jim Bob Rogers.
Lawrence served his Country in the United States Army during the Korean Conflict and he also enjoyed to farm.
Family will receive friends at the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods, WV on Friday, October 25, 2013 from 6-8p.m. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, October 26, 2013 from the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home Chapel at 11:00 a.m. with Reverend Russell Shaw officiating. Interment will follow services in the Newville Cemetery will full military honors conducted by the Braxton County American Legion Post 33.
Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home of Flatwoods will be serving the Rogers Family.
