Dorena Louise Ware
Dorena Louise Ware, 45, of 20 Hawkins Drive, Buckhannon, WV, went to be with the Lord on July 22, 2013 in the Ruby Memorial Hospital, Morgantown, WV following an extended illness. She was born on July 25, 1967 in Weston, WV, a daughter of Denzil Claypoole of Buckhannon, WV, who survives.
Dorena is also survived by a son, Justin Lee Ware of Buckhannon, WV. Also surviving is one brother, Denver Claypoole and fiancée Shelly Tenney, both of Buckhannon, WV, niece Carrie Tenney and two nephews Scotty and Curtis Tenney.
Dorena was Baptist by faith. Dorena loved country music, especially Conway Twitty. Dorena enjoyed sitting on the porch, and occupying time with electronics such as her cell phone and computer to text and play games, particularly Solitaire and Facebook. Her favorite television shows included Reba and Duck Dynasty. Dorena also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, fishing, camping, and in the flower garden. Dorena loved Thanksgiving and Christmas, her favorite time of year.
Family received friends at the Stockert –Gibson-Paletti Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods, WV on Saturday, July 27, 2013 from 11am to 1pm. Funeral Services followed visitation at the Stockert-Gibson-Paletti Funeral Chapel with Reverend Delmas Singleton and Lonnie Ramsey officiating. Interment followed the services in the Little Kanawha Cemetery in Heaters, WV.
Stockert-Gibson-Paletti Funeral Home of Flatwoods handled the services for Dorena Louise Ware.

Levi Scott Stewart
Levi Scott Stewart, 8 years old, of Flatwoods, WV, recently passed away at his home. He was born November 9, 2004. He is the son of Valarie Lee Brown of Flatwoods, and Patrick Stewart of Gassaway, WV.
He is survived by his parents; two brothers, Dalton and Owen Brown; grandparents, Ralph and Patricia Boone of Wilsie, Robert (Bobby) Mollohan of Sutton, Kathy L. Beamer of Sutton; great-grandparents, Walter (Ted) and Iva Beamer of Sutton, Mary Duckworth of Gassaway; uncles, Chris Westfall of Sutton, Robert, David, Ab Stewart of Gassaway.
He is preceded in death by his grandfather, Albert Stewart; great-grandparents, Junior and Angels Mollohan.
A private graveside service was held with the Rev. Rod Nicholas officiating at the Mt. Hebron Cemetery. Arrangements by the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV.

Bernard Jenkins
Bernard Jenkins, 91, of Gassaway passed away on July 23, 2013 at his home. He was born March 17, 1922 to the late Granville Jenkins and Dora Rachel Jenkins.
He was a railroad worker for B&O Railroad. He was a Baptist by faith.
Bernard is survived by his wife, Mabel Friend Jenkins; daughter, Karen Sue (Cecil) Harris.
He is preceded in death by wives, Helen Jenkins, Sharon Winters Jenkins, Ida Mae Dean Jenkins; sisters Beulah Jenkins, MyCola Jenkins, Eula Jenkins, Orphia Jenkins, Pauline Jenkins, Juanita Jenkins; brother Jessie Vernon Jenkins.
Services were held at 1:00p.m. on Saturday, July 27, 2013 at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway, WV. Friends called Saturday from Noon until time of service at the funeral home.

John E. Godwin
John E. Godwin, 81, of 113 South Main Street, Burnsville, WV faded away after a long illness on Sunday, August 11, 2013 at home with his loving wife of 58 years and his family by his side. He was born on January 15, 1932, the son of the late John Thomas Godwin and Genevieve (Allen) Godwin. On March 19, 1955, he married Barbara Godwin.
John has two sons, John Mark Godwin and wife Cynthia of Flatwoods, Andy Thomas Godwin and wife Lisa of Burnsville, and one daughter Carla Suzette Dettman and husband Scott of Burnsville. John also has five grandchildren Carrie, Joey, Whitney, Anthony John, Matthew, and two great-grandchildren Trenton and Rylee. In addition to his wife, children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, he leaves behind five brother-in-laws, seven sister-in-laws, numerous nieces, nephews, and two special friends Donna and Kenny Summers of Burnsville.
John was a Methodist by faith. He was a graduate of Washington Irving High School with the class of 1950. He then graduated from Glenville State College. John served his country as a member of the United States Army during the Korean Conflict from 1951-1953. He coached sports and taught in the Braxton County School System for 30 years. His three favorite sayings were “can’t never did anything until it tried”, “dress for success”, and “I did it my way”. Family was the most important thing in John’s life. John touched many lives through connections with his students and his athletes, or as they called him Mr. G. In 2007, the WV Coaches Association named him retired coach of the year. In 2011, the Burnsville School Gym was dedicated in his honor as the John E. Godwin Gymnasium.
Family received friends on Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at the Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home, 225 Main Street, Flatwoods, WV from 6-9 p.m. On Thursday, August 15, 2013 graveside military rites were held at 12:00 noon at the Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens. Interment followed graveside military services. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to one of the following charities – Burnsville Hospice Care, Burnsville Fire Department, or the Burnsville Public Library.
The Stockert-Sizemore Funeral Home of Flatwoods will be caring for the Godwin family.

Lewis Eldon Flint
Lewis Eldon Flint, 80, of Sutton passed away August 9, 2013 at Bowers Hospice House, Beckley. He was born on August 1, 1933 in Little Birch to the late Orville & Clarice Facemire Flint.
He was owner & operator of L & F Construction.
Lewis is survived by his sons, Timothy Eldon Flint & wife Amy of Charles Town, Jeffrey John Flint & fiancée Heather Riley of Sutton, daughter, Kim Brown & husband Marvin of Mt. Hope, WV, brothers, Steve Flint & wife Flora Belle of Camden on Gauley, WV, Jackie Flint & wife Barbara of Erbacon, WV, sister, Helen Moore & husband John of Tesla, WV, grandchildren, Justin Brown & wife Stacie, Kyle Flint, Chloe Flint, Dakota Flint, Mariah Poling, Allyson Flint.
Funeral services were held Wednesday, August 14, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton with Rev. Rick Canfield officiating. Burial followed at Sugar Creek Cemetery, Gassaway, WV. Friends called one hour prior to services at the funeral home.
Greene-Robertson Funeral Home is humbled to be serving the Flint family.

Glen K. Mohr
Glen K. Mohr, 87, of Wellington, Ohio, went home to be with The Lord at his residence on Friday August 16, 2013 following a lengthy illness.
He was born in Orton, West Virginia on November 8, 1925. Mr. Mohr had been a resident of Wellington for the past 12 years and had previously lived in Grafton, Ohio for 37 years. He was a veteran and served in the US Army from 1952 to 1954. He was employed as a machine operator for over 30 years at the Ford Motor Company and retired in 1987. He also did carpentry work on the side for many years. Mr. Mohr was a member of Solid Rock Baptist Church in Spencer. He enjoyed going to church, riding four wheelers, traveling, playing games with his grandchildren and spending time with family.
He is survived by his loving wife of 58 years, Zeta (nee Beall); two daughters, Debbie Burns (Jason) and Liz Dean (David), both of Wellington; one son, Carlton Mohr (Cyndi) of Spencer, Ohio; four grandchildren, Chelsea and Corey Dean, Jared and Noah Burns; one great-grandson, Ryan Dean; one sister, Wilda Jenkins (Charles) of Normantown, West Virginia and one brother, Ring Mohr (Vonnie) of Normantown, West Virginia. He was preceded in death by his parents, Riley and Sarah (nee Hashman) Mohr; and by four brothers, Chandos, Duefold, Frank and James Mohr.
The family received friends on Monday August 19, 2013 from 5 to 8pm at the Liston Funeral Home, 36403 Center Ridge Road (at Stoney Ridge Road), North Ridgeville, Ohio. The family will receive friends again on Wednesday August 21, 2013 from 1:00pm until the time of the funeral service at 2:00pm at the Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, 708 Braxton Street, Gassaway, West Virginia. Elder David Turner will officiate the service. Burial will be at Mount Carmel Cemetery in Normantown, West Virginia. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that memorial contributions be made to either the Mount Carmel Cemetery Fund or to Hospice of the Western Reserve.

Carl F. Jenkins
Carl F. Jenkins, 79, of Coxs Mills, died August 14, 2013 at United Hospital Center, Bridgeport.
He was born March 7, 1934 in Gilmer County a son of the late Claude and Artie Mowery Jenkins.
Carl worked as a molder in a foundry, worked in the oil fields, and at Cedar Creek State Park. He loved to watch wrestling and loved to deer hunt.
In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by four sisters and three brothers.
Carl is survived by wife, Catherine Brady Jenkins; sons, Billy Jenkins and Johnny Jenkins both of Alum Bridge; daughter, Jeanie Taylor and husband, Henry of Weston; brothers, Jack Jenkins of Belfont, Earl Jenkins of Exchange and Marple Jenkins of Chapel; grandchildren, Summer Jenkins, Hannah Jenkins, Alissa Jenkins, Henry Bunnell and Emily Taylor; great grandchildren, Gabbrella Wright and Sophia Wright.
Services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday, August 18, 2013 at Richard M. Roach Funeral Home, Gassaway with Pastor Clifford Reaser officiating. Interment followed in the Marks Cemetery, Normantown.
Friends called from 6 to 9 p.m. Saturday at the funeral home.

Harry Hoffman
Harry Hoffman, 71, of Pinch passed away Saturday, August 15, 2009, in CAMC Memorial Hospital after a long and courageous battle with cancer.
He served as Postmaster in Gassaway and later retired as the Postmaster of St. Albans with 38 years service. He was an Army veteran and in his spare time he loved to do wood working, fish and hunt.
Harry was preceded in death by his parents, Mack and Bertha Wills Hoffman; brothers, Bob and Charles Hoffman; and granddaughter, Tiffany Jackson.
He is survived by his loving wife of 50 years, Margaret Fouty Hoffman; son, Steven Hoffman and wife Tamara of Pinch; daughter, Teresa Jackson and husband Jim of Gassaway; sister, Emma Lea Landers of Winston Salem, N.C.; brother, Lowell M. Hoffman and wife Peggy of St. Albans and grandchildren, Tyler Jackson, and Kaylea, Kassie and Kolton Hoffman. He is also survived by many nieces; nephews; and friends; plus his loving and faithful dog, Maggie, who misses him dearly.
Funeral service was held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, August 18, 2009 at the Hafer Funeral Home Chapel with the Rev. David Keeney officiating. Burial was in Elk Hills Memorial Park, Big Chimney.
Friends called from 6 to 8 p.m. Monday, August 17, 2009, at the funeral home.
Hafer Funeral Home, Elkview is in charge of the arrangements.

Paul William Townsend
Paul William Townsend, 66, of Summersville, WV, died August 16, 2009 at CAMC Memorial Hospital in Charleston. He was born November 15, 1942 in Gilmer Station, WV, a son of the late Arthur and Lena Gay Parsons Townsend. Also preceding him in death were sisters, Jackie Love, Maxine James, and brother, Arthur Jerry Townsend.
He attended Powell’s Mt. Baptist Church, and was a Heavy Equipment Operator.
Paul is survived by his loving wife Linda Kay Pullen Townsend; his sons David L. Townsend and partner Tim Bowlin of Chambersburg, Pa., Robert K. Martin and wife Michelle of Birch River, WV, Walter Lane Jack and wife Sherri of Gassaway, WV; Daughters, Christinia A. Townsend Hall and husband Randy of Jane Lew, WV, Donna Raye Martin Pate and husband Robert of Beckley, WV and Joy Elaine Jack Barnes and husband Tom of Spencer, WV; sister Peggy Townsend Bragg and husband Bob of Copen, WV; brothers, Bruce Townsend of Fairmont, WV, Mike Townsend and wife Deloris of Weston, WV; sister-in-laws, Glenna Townsend of Jane Lew, WV, Sherry L. Jackson & husband Gary of Sutton, WV, Nancy Williams of North ort, Al.; grandchildren, Deserae & Skye Hall of Jane Lew, WV, Jeffery Martin of Birch River, Jeremy Martin & wife Tina of Birch River, Danielle Pate of Beckley, Abby & Thomas Barnes of Spencer, and Walter Lane “Trey” Jack III of Gassaway.
Graveside service was held at 1:30 p.m. on Thursday, August 20, 2009 at Little Kanawha Memorial Gardens, Heaters, WV with Rev. Linn Schiefer officiating. Friends called from 12:00 noon Thursday until 1:00 pm at Green-Robertson Funeral Home Sutton, WV.
Arrangements are by Greene-Robertson Funeral Home, Sutton, WV.

Admiral D. Butcher
Admiral D. Butcher (Abby), 88, of Richwood formerly of Sutton, passed away Monday August 17, 2099 after a long illness.
He was born on March 1, 1921 in Braxton County a son of the late Robert R. and Emma Murphy Butcher. He was a retired Coal Miner and avid Hunter and Fisherman and was the last remaining member of his immediate family.
He is preceded in death by his parents, sisters, Dicie Foye Butcher DeWeese, Dorothy Butcher and one brother, Kenneth Butcher.
He is survived by an extended family of Butchers, Murphys and DeWeeses.
Funeral Services were held at 1:00 PM on Wednesday August 19, 2009 at Stockert-Gibson-Sizemore Funeral Home in Flatwoods, WV with Rev. Doug Smailes officiating. Burial followed in Walker Cemetery, Keeners Ridge, Birch River, WV. Friends called one hour prior to services at the funeral home.

Alice M. Bragg
Alice M. Bragg, 93, of Pennsboro, formerly of Rosedale, Braxton County, passed away August 19, 2009.
She was born June 7, 1916 at Belfont, Braxton County and was a daughter of the late George R. and Lucy Caroline Fox Rose.
Surviving are a son, Raymond Digman of Pennsboro; a daughter, Erma Burr of Columbia Station, Ohio; stepchildren are Coleen Garcia of Florida, Conrad Bragg of Mississippi; 12 grandchildren; 25 great grandchildren; and 35 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her first husband Clarence Digman in 1944 and her second husband, Artie Bragg in 1993; 6 sisters and 3 brothers.
Funeral services were held Sunday at 2 pm at the Rosedale United Methodist Church. Elder George Rose officiated. Interment was in the Rosedale Community Cemetery. Friends called at the Stump Funeral Home in Grantsville from 5 to 8 pm Saturday and one hour prior to the services at the church Sunday.
