U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014

George W. Tallman Sr., 66, of Parkersburg
passed away Feb. 21, 2006, at Eagle Pointe
Nursing Center.
He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late
Ben and Justine Marlow Tallman. He enjoyed
fishing.
Surviving are his wife, Bernice Santee Tallman
of Eagle Pointe; three sons, George Tallman
Jr. of Parkersburg, Dave Santee of Belleville
and Stephen Santee of Sandyville, W.Va.; two
daughters, Patricia Locker of Joshua, Texas,
and Tammy Blair of Claremont, Fla.; 13
grandchildren; 26 great-grandchildren; two
great-great-grandchildren; and one brother,
Raymond Tallman of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Roy
Tallman.
There will be a memorial service at 1 p.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor
Bernard “Dobbie” Thrash officiating. The
family will be receiving friends one hour
prior to the service Saturday at the funeral
home.

Edna Jane Montgomery Marty, 78, of
Parkersburg, heard the Golden Bells ringing
and went home to be with Jesus on Feb. 20,
2006, surrounded by her children at Camden-
Clark Memorial Hospital, following a seven-
year battle with lymphoma.
She was born Feb. 2, 1928, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Harley Montgomery and
Martha Irman Green Montgomery Roberts. Edna
was a member of St. Andrews United Methodist
Church. She was a lay speaker and devoted
minister’s wife to the late Rev. Ernest
Franklin Marty Sr. They were married 43 years
before his death in 1993.
She was the loving mother of five sons, Ernest
Franklin Jr. and wife, Martha Marty, of
Cottageville, W.Va., Bill and wife, Lynn
Marty, of Vienna, Joe and wife, Judy Marty, of
Colonial Heights, Va., Dwight and wife,
Barbara Marty, of Vienna and Ted Marty of
Parkersburg; two daughters, Donna and husband,
Bob Hamon, of Given, W.Va., and Connie and
husband, Allen Miihlbach, of Parkersburg; two
brothers, John Montgomery of Parkersburg and
David Montgomery of Marmet; and several nieces
and nephews including her niece and caregiver,
Jeanie Wright. She will be lovingly remembered
by her 11 grandchildren, Tim, Bobby, David,
Beth, Billy, Barbara, Addy, Dwight Jr.,
Jennifer, Janice and Jessica; and her nine
great-grandchildren, Amber, Samatha, Brooks,
Grace, Shannon, Hannah, Jillian, Will and
Alexander.
In addition to her parents and husband, she
was preceded in death by brothers, Jim, Tom
and Bob Montgomery; and sister, Julia Goff.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Bud Vandergrift
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Wadesville Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Robert Norman Taylor, 42, of St. Albans,
W.Va., passed away Feb. 14, 2006, at Thomas
Memorial Hospital in South Charleston.
He was born April 11, 1963, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Robert Junior Taylor and
Juanita J. Farnsworth Taylor. Robert was a
Methodist by faith and was employed with
Charleston Area Servicing Center Inc. as a
customer service representative. He had served
in the U.S. Army during Desert Storm and the
Grenada Invasion, was a member of the American
Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg and was a
student at West Virginia University, majoring
in power plant technology.
Surviving are his wife, Mary Jane Mitchem
Taylor; three sons, Robert Michael Taylor,
Justin Robert Taylor and Cody Allen Taylor,
all of Parkersburg; a stepson, Mitchell Alan
Sheppard serving in the U.S. Navy stationed in
Texas; one daughter, Alicia Sue Taylor of St.
Albans; and a stepdaughter, Meagan Catherine
Sheppard Miller of Rockport.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. Cremation will follow. Friends
may call from 5-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral
home.

William Arthur (Art) Lowers Sr., 81, of
Parkersburg passed away Feb. 5, 2006, at
Sunbridge Health Care Center.
He was born March 13, 1924, in Wood County, a
son of the late Okey Johnson and Icie Mae
Nichols Lowers. Art was a member of the Army
Air Force having served during World War II.
He retired from Borg-Warner Chemicals in 1982
after many years of service. He enjoyed model
airplanes, computers and playing music.
He was a loving husband, father and
grandfather, leaving behind two sons,
William “Bill” Lowers Jr. and his wife, Jenny,
and Robert “Rob” Lowers, all of Parkersburg;
granddaughters, Theresa Lester and husband,
Greg, and Angie Kiggans and husband, Scott,
all of Parkersburg; a great-granddaughter,
Sarah Marie Lester of Parkersburg; brothers,
Herschel, Paul and Clyde Lowers; sisters,
Wilma Henthorn and Roxie Hudson; several
nieces and nephews; and many other extended
family members.
He was preceded in death by his first wife,
Marie Lowers; his second wife, Sharon Nunn
Lowers; his third wife, Velcie “June”
Caplinger Lowers; a brother, Virgil Lowers;
and a daughter-in-law, Kay Lowers.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Ken Nolan
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m. Tuesday.

Iva Clarestine Flinn, 95, of the West Virginia
Masonic Home died Feb. 4, 2006, at St.
Joseph’s Hospital.
She was born June 12, 1910, at Sherman, in
Jackson County, a daughter of the late William
and Emma Meeker King. She was a member of the
Stout Memorial United Methodist Church, a
former member of the Willowdale Baptist Church
and was a homemaker.
Survivors include her daughter, Phyliss Rogers
of Florida; her daughter-in-law, Lea Flinn of
Parkersburg; seven grandchildren; several
great-grandchildren; one brother, Earl P. King
and his wife, Mary, of Parkersburg; one
sister, Myrtle Burdette of Parkersburg; and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, E.
Paul Flinn in 1973; two sons, Edwin Flinn in
1981 and William “Bill” Flinn in 2005; and
nine brothers and sisters.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Bob Morris
officiating. Burial will be at the Evergreen
North Cemetery. Friends may call from noon
until the time of service Tuesday at the
funeral home.
