Lawrence Woodrow Wigal, 91, of Parkersburg
passed away Dec. 2, 2005, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born June 6, 1914, at Wadesville, a son
of the late Samuel Floyd and Ida Pearl Sellers
Wigal. Lawrence was a longtime member of
Serepta Baptist Church. He retired from
Parkersburg Lumber Co. with 10 years of
service. He was employed at Kiekheffer
Container Co. for 20 years. After his
retirement, he was employed as an assistant at
Kimes Funeral Home for 20 years.
Surviving is one brother, Walter Wigal of
Parkersburg; several nieces and nephews; and
his caregiver, Anita Gard of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Blanch
Smith Wigal; six brothers, infant Howard,
Chester, Everett, Herbert, Charles and Lloyd
Wigal; and four sisters, Eleanor Wigal, Ora
Boso, Alice Sams and Freda Sams.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Frank Miller
officiating. Burial will follow at the Wigal
Cemetery at Wadesville. Friends may call from
2-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

James L. Robinson, 54 of Parkersburg, passed
away Nov. 28, 2005 at his home.
He was born at Pulman in Ritchie County a son
of James H. Robinson of Norfolk, Virginia and
the late Elfreda M. McCloy. Also surviving is
his friend, Francis McNally, a half sister,
Diane McGuire of Pennsboro, several aunts
uncles and cousins.
There will be no visitation or services.
Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services
assisted the family with Cremation.

Michael Lewis Burford, 63, of Jacksonville,
Fla., passed away Nov. 24, 2004, at the
Baptist Medical Center in Jacksonville.
Mike was born in Parkersburg on Oct. 19, 1942.
He was the son of the late Eugene and Evelyn
Deem Burford. Mike was a retired accountant
and member of Trinity United Methodist Church
in Parkersburg.
Surviving are his daughter, Heather Christina
Burford of the Jacksonville area and several
relatives and friends in the Parkersburg area.
The funeral service will be 3:30 p.m. Sunday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. The Rev. James Burdette will
officiate. Burial will be at Sunset Memory
Gardens. Visitation will be noon Sunday until
service time.

Gates E. Wigner
Gates Eckward (Bud) (Wig) Wigner, 89, of San
Francisco, Calif., passed away Nov. 18, 2005,
at his home.
He was born in Grantsville, W.Va., a son of
the late Cannis Martin Wigner and Carrie
Elizabeth Gates Wigner.
Mr. Wigner served as a pharmacist in the U.S.
Navy during World War II. After his discharge,
he began working as a pharmacist the very next
day at the San Francisco Veterans Hospital,
where he remained for 38 years until his
retirement in 1985. He was forever indebted to
West Virginia School of Pharmacy for giving
him his start in life and of which he became a
generous benefactor in his later years.
Surviving are his sister, Mrs. Josephine
Richards of Parkersburg; nephews, Cannif
Duncan, John Duncan, Mike Richards and Greg
Richards; and four surrogate grandchildren,
Sarah, Becca, Joe and Eva.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. David Carpenter
officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg
Memorial Gardens. There will be a visitation
from 1 p.m. until service time Sunday at the
funeral home.
Memorial donations may be made to the West
Virginia School of Pharmacy, P.O. Box 9500,
Morgantown, WV 26506-9500.

Hazel I. Rader
Hazel I. Rader, 78, of Pond Creek Road,
Rockport, W.Va., passed away Nov. 18, 2005, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
Hazel was born at Lowdell in Wood County, a
daughter of the late William Kohler Anderson
and Bessie Skinner Anderson. She was a
homemaker and member of the Homemakers Club.
She enjoyed crochet, reading and working
picture puzzles.
Surviving are 10 daughters, Darlene Barton,
Sheila McCrady and Marsha West, all of
Rockport, Stella Cox and Wanda Smith, both of
Belleville, Patsy Hale of Norfolk, Va., Debra
Ocheltree of Charlotte Court House, Va., Penny
Blankenship of Belmont, N.C., Lisa Wilcoxen of
Little Hocking, Ohio, and Carol Napaierala of
Ft. Lauderdale, Fla.; 16 grandchildren; and
several great-grandchildren, nieces and
nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Deward D. Rader; a son, Delbert Ray Rader;
three brothers, John, Harry and Hugh Anderson;
three sisters, Gertrude Vaughan, Sarah Casto
and Mary Lamb; and two great-grandchildren.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Larry Dale
officiating. Burial will follow at Limestone
Cemetery at Rockport. Friends may call from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Orbert C. Curtiss
Orbert Charles Curtiss, 89, of Parkersburg
passed away Nov. 14, 2005, at the Veterans
Regional Hospital in Clarksburg.
He was born in Grafton, W.Va., a son of the
late Patrick Charles and Ada Bessie Weaver
Curtiss.
Mr. Curtiss was a member of Grace Gospel
Church at Pettyville and was a Disabled
American Veteran.
Surviving are five sons, Carl and Jean Curtiss
of Parkersburg, Noble and Delores Curtiss of
Massillon, Ohio, Patrick Curtiss of Mineral
Wells, Melvin Curtiss of Parkersburg and Frank
and Debra Curtiss of Hannibal, Ohio; a
daughter-in-law, Linda Curtiss; six
grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; and
one sister, Evelyn of Florida.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Audra
Weres Curtiss; a son, Ronald Curtiss; a
daughter, Diana Wells; and three sisters.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Mike Allen will officiate
and burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens with military rites conducted by the
American Legion Post 15. Friends may call from
5-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
