Vernon Ray Davis, 73, of Cedar Grove Road,
Parkersburg, passed away Oct. 11, 2005, at St.
Joseph's Hospital.
He was born Sept. 20, 1932, at Nicolette in
Wood County, a son of the late Carl Vernon and
Hazel Garnet Hess Davis.
Vernon was of the Methodist faith. He retired
in 1991 from GE Plastics as maintenance
foreman. He was a U.S. Army veteran, member of
the Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge No. 3, the
Scottish Rite and White Shrine of Jerusalem.
He enjoyed fishing, woodworking and the
outdoors.
Surviving is his wife, Patricia Carder Davis;
two sons, Steven Ray Davis and his wife,
Vicki, of Parkersburg and Vernon Todd Davis
and his wife, Heidi, of King George, Va.; one
grandson, Adam Hunter Davis; and his sister,
Hazel Norine Davis of Vienna.
He was preceded in death by a daughter, Debbie
Ann Davis.
The funeral service will be 10 a.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Brian Long
officiating. Burial will follow at Mount
Olivet Cemetery. Friends may call at the
funeral home from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today.
Vickie Sue Bennett True, 47, of Ash Circle,
Davisville passed away Oct. 11, 2005, in the
emergency room of Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
Vickie was born May 13, 1958, in Parkersburg,
a daughter of Patricia Ann McKitrick Bennett
of Davisville and the late William Howard
Bennett Jr.
She was of the Baptist faith and was a
homemaker. She was a member of Ladies
Auxiliary of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and
was an avid baseball fan.
Surviving is her husband, Willard True; one
son, Chad True and his wife, Jessica, of
Parkersburg; one daughter, Ashley True of
Davisville; one granddaughter, Anita True of
Parkersburg; two brothers, Michael Bennett of
Belpre and Jeffery Bennett of Parkersburg; one
sister, Deborah Mezick of Davisville; and
several nieces and nephews.
The funeral will be conducted at 1 p.m. Friday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Chaplain Teresa Criss will
officiate. Burial will follow in Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. Friends may call from 2-8 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
There will be a reception for family and
friends at the Fraternal Order of the Eagles
on Gihon Road in south Parkersburg immediately
following the services on Friday.
Burnadene D. Deem, 81, of Parkersburg passed
away Oct. 2, 2005, at her home.
She was born Aug. 25, 1924, in Doddridge
County, a daughter of the late Archie and
Pearl Richards Haynes. Burnadene was of the
Methodist faith and was a homemaker. She
enjoyed crochet, knitting and collecting
dolls.
Surviving are three sons, J. Andy Deem Jr. of
Parkersburg, Michael "Mike" Deem and his wife,
Marsha, of Washington, W.Va., and Roger Deem
and his wife, Tina, of Parkersburg; five
daughters, Dorothy Still of Kentucky, Carolyn
Bennett of Parkersburg, Debbie Harr and her
husband, Jody, of Titusville, Fla., and
Kathleen Jackson and her husband, Ron, and
Marlene Deem, all of Akron, Ohio; 26
grandchildren; 32 great-grandchildren; one
brother, Wallace Haynes of Syracuse, Ohio; and
several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
James Andy Deem in 2003; a son, Earl Lee Deem;
an infant daughter, Betty Jean Deem; twin
great-grandsons, Charles and Tommy Still; two
brothers, Walter and Willard Haynes; and three
sisters, Glada Humphrey, Garnet Hathaway and
Audrey Haynes.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. James Burdette
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Julia Grace Wentzel, 90, of Parkersburg passed
away Sept. 29, 2005, at Cedar Grove Personal
Care Home.
She was born Oct. 7, 1914, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late William A. and Clara May
Williams Meeks.
Julia was a member of St. Andrews United
Methodist Church and the United Methodist
Women and was retired from American Viscose.
Survivors include two brothers, Everett B.
Meeks and his wife, Ella, of Parkersburg and
Louis Meeks and his wife, Lillian, of Osage,
Minn.; one sister, Norma Virginia Leach of
Parkersburg; a brother-in-law, John Greenwalt
of Parkersburg; and several nieces and
nephews, including a special niece, Janet
Kiddy and her husband, Joe, of Washington,
W.Va.
She was preceded in death by her husband, John
Francis (Fritz) Wentzel in 1986; two brothers,
Robert and Russell Meeks; a sister, Patsy
Greenwalt; and an infant sister, Ireta Meeks.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Donald Maxson
officiating. Burial will follow at Parkersburg
Memorial Gardens. Friends may call from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral home.
Dorothy Buchanan
Dorothy "Dale" Buchanan, 77, of Rockport
passed away Sept. 26, 2005, at her home.
She was born Jan. 21, 1928, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Homer and Lena Mabel Deem
Somerville. Dorothy was a member of the
Limestone United Methodist Church and was
retired from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital in
the physical therapy department. She enjoyed
quilting, crochet and gardening.
Surviving are three sons, Carl Emerson
Buchanan Jr. and his wife, Becky, of Ocala,
Fla., Ralph Edward Buchanan of Rockport and
Butch Richard Buchanan and his wife, Becky, of
Ellenboro; three daughters, Rosetta Ann White
and her husband, Albert, of Hixon, Tenn.,
Paulette Gail Thompson of Rockport and Joyce
Alberta Smith of Columbus, Ohio; five
grandchildren, Christopher Thompson, Richard
White, Brian White, Shannon Smith and Daniel
Buchanan; four great-grandchildren, Jonathan
White, Joshua White and Paige and Sydney
Staton; one brother, Charles Wayne Somerville
of Barberton, Ohio; four sisters, Mabel Amos
of Parkersburg, Mary Ellen Furioso of
Michigan, Emma Lou Weiner of Maryland and
Katheryn Florence of Ohio; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Carl
Emerson "Buck" Buchanan in 2001; a son-in-law,
Ronald Thompson; seven brothers, H. Carl
Somerville, Glenn Somerville, James Hoyt
Somerville, Herbert Somerville, Louis
Somerville, Paul Jett Somerville and Robert E.
Somerville; and five sisters, Nina Andrews,
Vida Varner, Evelyn Ennis, Betty Somerville
and Beuna Rose Somerville.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at
the Limestone United Methodist Church at
Rockport with Pastor Dean Archer and the Rev.
Phillip Dent officiating. Burial will follow
in the church cemetery. Friends may call from

521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior
to the service Thursday at the church.
