Joseph Linville Cremeans
Joseph Linville Cremeans, 86, of Chesapeake, Ohio, went to his heavenly home Thursday, December 1, 2005, surrounded by his loving family. He was born March 2, 1919, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Rev. Clark and Dora Cremeans. Also preceding him in death were his wife, Esther Jewell Cremeans on November 10, 2002, two grandsons, Joseph Hansel Chapman and Michael Paul Cremeans and four sisters, Gladys Jenkins, Birdie Childers, Verla Walker and Bertha Gue. Lin, as he was so lovingly known, was a gospel quartet singer for most of his adult life singing with several different groups in this area. He was never known to say "no"' when called upon to sing at churches or for funerals. He was a member of the Salem United Baptist Church and retired from Perry Norvell Shoe Co. after 30 years of service.
Left behind to mourn and miss him so very much are two daughters, Ellen (Bill) Row of Chillicothe, Ohio and Jeannie (Michael) Garrido of Huntington, W.Va.; three sons, Bill (Patsy) Cremeans of South Point, Ohio, Lanny (Sandra) Cremeans of Branchland, W.Va., and Paul (Lisa) Cremeans of Chesapeake, Ohio; 10 grandsons, three granddaughters; 10 great-grandsons, four great-granddaughters; five great-great-grandsons, two great-great-granddaughters; and three sisters, Lusta Ross, Ova Napier and Janice Jobe, all of Salt Rock, W.Va. Funeral services were conducted at 1 P.M. Sunday, December 4, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the. Rev. Carlos Gibson and the Rev. Sherwood Thompson. Burial in Green Valley Cemetery.

Marlene L. Burdette Crook
Marlene L. Burdette Crook, 73, of Huntington, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Monday, Dec. 5, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. E.R. Houck. Burial in Spring Hill Cemetery. She was born Oct. 30, 1932, in Huntington, a daughter of the late J.B. and Bernice Tanner. She was also preceded in death by her father, Marden Burdette; her husband, Carl Crook Jr; three sisters and brother-in-law, Arlene and Jack Blankenship, Judy Robinson, Eloise Sharpe. She was a member of Crook Chapel Church. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Angela and Bruce Adams of Huntington; three sisters and brother-in-law, Mary and Jack Cusick of Jacksonville, Fla., Peggy Turman and Jennifer Tanner both of Huntington, grandchildren, David Adams, Beth and W.T. Bradley, Kala Adams; two great-granddaughters; special nieces, Linda Hensley and Mary Ann Coalson; special nephew and his wife, Jamie and Jeannette Blankenship.

Sarah MaeLe Sheng Jarrell
Sarah MaeLe Sheng Jarrell, died unexpectedly on Tuesday, November 29, 2005, at Cabell Huntington Hospital after a brief illness. She was eight years old and was born on August 26,1997, She was the daughter of Diana Jarrell and the granddaughter of Erma and Skip Jarrell of Huntington. Other survivors include her aunt and uncle, Steve and Sherry Jarrell; and her beloved cousins, Paige and Taylor Jarrell. Sarah was a third grade student at Geneva Kent Elementary where she was a member of the school's student council and was involved with the toy and food drive there. A born performer, she was a very happy, creative child who loved to sing and dance. She attended River Cities Community Church and was active in the church's Awana program for children. Funeral services were held at 1 p.m. on Saturday, December 3, 2005, at River Cities Community Church, 4385 Route 60 East. The Rev Jack Edwards, the Rev. Larry Greene and the Rev. Andrew Magnusson officiating. Burial in Woodmere Memorial Park. The family requests that donations be made to Geneva Kent's PTO Playground Fund in memory of Sarah. She leaves behind a host of family and friends who enriched her life. She was always her mother's star and angel and will be sorely missed by her family and all of those who knew and loved her. James Robert Woodard
James Robert Woodard, 63, formerly of Huntington, passed away Saturday, Dec. 3, 2005, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 6, 2005, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel by the Rev. David Cardwell. Burial in Baylous Cemetery. He was preceded in death by his father, James Woodard, and his mother, Loretta Maxwell Woodard; one brother, Charles Daniel "Red" Woodard, and one sister, Dorothy Loretta Woodard. He is survived by his daughter and son-in-law, Misty and Brent Beckett; granddaughter, Jamie Lynn Woodard; step-granddaughter, Jessica Renee Beckett; step-grandson, Joshua Alan Beckett. He is also survived by two brothers and sisters-in-law, Raymond and Nancy Woodard, Homer "Butch" and Phyllis Woodard; one brother, Kenneth Woodard; two nieces, Christina MacIntyre and Shelley Woodard; two nephews, Charles "Danny Boy" Woodard Jr. and Raymond Woodard Jr. Donations may be made to Hospice of Huntington, P.O. Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709. The family would like to especially thank Sue Beckett and family for their kindness and loving care during James' illness.

Ruth Anna Byrnside
Ruth Anna Byrnside, 82, died November 22, 2005, after living a few months in Richmond, Virginia.
She was a longtime resident of Hurricane and a member of First Missionary Baptist Church of Culloden. She enjoyed cooking and providing for her family.
Surviving: her husband of 49 years, Darrell H. Byrnside; children, Barbara Borgardts and husband, Bill, of Asheboro, North Carolina, David Byrnside of Washington , D.C., and Leslie R. "Les" Byrnside and wife, Angela, of Richmond; grandchildren, Lisa Butch, Toney and Erica; great-grandchildren, Jenna and Wesley.
Service was held Saturday, November 26, 2005, at the First Missionary Baptist Church of Culloden. Interment was in Valley View Cemetery, Hurricane. Allen Funeral Home, Hurricane, was in charge of arrangements.

Velma Adeline Bailey
Velma Adeline Bailey, 86, of Eleanor, formerly of Ripley, died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at CAMC General Hospital following a short illness.
She was a member of the Winfield United Methodist Church, Emma Chapel Chuirch, and the Epworth United Methodist Church. She also attended the Lone Oak Church. She was a member of O.E.S. #53, Ripley.
She was born April 24, 1919 to the late Dessie and Losha Bell Bailey. In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by sisters, Vada Fisher, Vestie Fisher, and Virgie Sirbaugh, and brothrer, Ray Johnson.
Surviving: daughter, Beverly Casto and husband, Burton, of Red House; sisters, Verna Haning of Florida, Violet Harding and Carrie Miers, both of Pocatalico; brother, Clay Johnson of Barboursville; grandchildren, Kevin Casto, Kerry Casto an Kason Casto; great-grandchildren, Danielle, Kristin, Kerry Ray II, Mechial, Michael, Darren, and Kazen.
Service was held Saturday, November 26, 2005, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with the Rev. Jim Richards officiating. Burial was in Emma Chapel Cemetery, Liberty.
Memorial donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar WV 25064.

Ray E. Casto
Ray E. Casto, 62, of Hurricane died November 23, 2005, at St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington.
Born June 12, 1943 in Parkersburg, he was the son of the late Delbert and Freda Hart Casto.
He was employed by American Electric Power's Central Machine Shop with 31 years of service. He was a former employee of American Viscose, Parkersburg, with 11 years of service and a member of Putnam Masonic Lodge 139, AF&AM. He loved to do woodworking as a hobby. He was a veteran of the Army National Guard and a 30-year resident of Hurricane.
Surviving: wife, Donna K. Casto; daughter and son-in-law, Kimberly and Jason Henderson of Hurricane; sister and her husband, Geneva and Fred Fortin of Michigan; brother and his wife, Ted and Pam Casto of Parkersburg.
Service was held Monday, November 28, 2005, at Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, with Jim McGehee officiating. Entombment was in Valley View Memorial Park Mausoleum, Hurricane.

Phyllis Ann Gillispie
Phyllis Ann Gillispie, 56, of Culloden died Wednesday, November 23, 2005, at her residence.
She was a homemaker and a member of Manna Ministries, St. Albans.
Surviving: husband, Dannie L. Gillispie; daughter and son-in-law, Sherry and Randy Setliff of Culloden; son, Dannie D. Gillispie of Culloden; sister, Barbara Rose of Hurricane; brothers, Dallas and Billy Young of Hurricane; granddaughter, Chelsea Setliff.
Graveside servcie was held Monday, November 28, 2005, at Fraziers Bottom united Methodist Church Cemetery with Pastor Jerry Cantley officiating. Chapman Funeral Home, Teays Valley, was in charge of arrangements.

Giles B. Workman
Giles B. Workman, 85, of Buffalo died Tuesday, November 22, 2005, at CAMC General Hospital following a long illness.
He was a retired plumber, having worked many years in the construction trade. He was a U.S. Army veteran of World War II and a Christian.
Surviving: sisters, Kathleen Workman of Teays Valley and Irene Teal of Texas .
Service was held Monday, November 28, 2005, at Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, with Pastor Mike Tucker officiating. Burial was in Teays Hill Cemetery, St. Albans.

Electa Pruett Farley
Electa Pruett Farley, 85, of Scott Depot died Friday, November 25, 2005, at Teays Valley Center, Hurricane.
Born November 15, 1920 in Liberty, she was the only child of the late Roy R. and Marie Hartley Ranson. She was also preceded in death by her first husband, Robert Pruett Sr., and her second husband, Buck Farley.
She was a retired social studies and journalism teach at Nitro High School and had formerly taught at Poca High School. She was a graduate of Nitro High School and received her bachelor's degree from Morris Harvey College. She was a Presbyterian by faith.
Surviving: son, Robert Pruett Jr. and wife, Linda, of Jacksonville, North Carolina; grandchildren, Alyssa Arthur of Raleigh, North Carolina and Ashley Arthur of Las Vegas, Nevada.
Service was held Monday, November 28, 2005, at Tyler Mountain Memory Gardens, West Virginia Memorial Chapel, Cross Lanes. Burial was in the cemetery.

Janice Y. Sheets
Janice Yvonne Sheets, 75, of Buffalo, formerly of Beaver, died Thursday, November 24, 2005, at Pleasant Valley Nursing and Rehab Center following a long illness.
She was a member of the Buffalo United Methodist Church, former restaurant cook and homemaker.
She was born March 25, 1930 in West Newton, Pennsylvania to the late Denver and Pearl Hall Gravely.
Surviving: husband, Rex Sheets; sons, James Robert of Eastern Shore, Maryland, Kerry Smith of Baltimore, Maryland, and Daniel Sheets of Buffalo; sister, Donna Wade of St. Albans; 26 grandchildren; 18 great-grandchildren.
Raynes Funeral Home, Buffalo, was in charge of arrangements.

Freda Mae Wolfe
Freda Mae Wolfe, 80, of Fraziers Bottom, formerly of Dunbar, died Friday, December 2, 2005, in SunBridge of Putnam after the long goodbye of Alzheimers.
She retired from General Truck Sales and was a member of Fairlawn Baptist Church, Dunbar.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Harless Wolfe.
Surviving: son, Robert E. Wolfe of Fraziers Bottom; grandsons, Eric Wolfe of Atlanta, Georgia and Elliott Wolfe of Fraziers Bottom; brother, Tony Layne of South Charleston; sister, Lillian Wachter of Connecticut.
Service was held Tuesday, December 6, 2005, at Keller Funeral Home, Dunbar, with the Rev. Harold B. White Jr. officiating. Burial was in Grandview Memorial Park, Dunbar.
