Henry W. King
Henry Walter "Walt" King, 91, of Springfield,
Ohio, formerly of Parkersburg, died Monday,
May 23, 2005, at the Ohio Masonic Home in
Springfield.
He was born May 2, 1914, in Tornado, W.Va., a
son of the late Richard Henry King and Della
(Atkins) King. Mr. King had retired from the
E.I. Dupont Washington Works plant with 30
years of service as a maintenance foreman. He
is a member of the Belpre Masonic Lodge 609,
where he was past master, is a member of the
Lauckport United Methodist Church and had been
very active in the Boy Scouts of America
program at the church.
He is survived by his wife, Kathryn E.
(Leifight) King of Springfield, Ohio; two
sons, Ryan Lee King of Parkersburg and Jeffrey
B. King of Akron, Ohio; one daughter, Mardeen
M. Rogers of North Huntingdon, Pa.; six
stepchildren, William L. Peters of McComb,
Ohio, Walter Dennis Peters of Arcadia, Ohio,
Barbara Doe of Findlay, Ohio, Melanie Emerson
of Sebring, Fla., Patricia Crawford of
Ansonia, Ohio and Martha Rado of Harlan, Iowa;
one sister, Mary May of Cleveland, Ohio; seven
grandchildren; 22 step grandchildren; two
great-grandchildren; 36 step great-
grandchildren; and several nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by former spouses,
Sara Grattes King and Jean Marie (Langfitt)
King Mylar; one infant son; seven brothers;
three sisters; five stepbrothers; and two
stepsisters.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Saturday at
the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Michael C. Stephens
officiating. Burial will follow in Sunset
Memory Gardens. Family will receive friends
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday and 9 a.m. until
service time Saturday at the funeral home. A
Masonic Funeral Service will be conducted by
members of Lodge 609 of Belpre at 7 p.m.
Friday at the funeral home.
Virginia Thrash
The angel Gabriel visited the home of Virginia
Thrash on Saturday, May 14, 2005, and took her
to her new home prepared by Jesus Christ.
Virginia was born in Jackson County to the
late Francis M. Curry and Clara E. Delaney
Curry.
Virginia was born again in February 1933 and
led a dedicated life to God and her earthly
family. She was married to the late Rev.
Bernard M. Thrash, who preceded her in death in 1985 and now they will be eternally united
in Heaven.
Virginia leaves behind a daughter, Clara and
her husband, "Sonny" Staats, and one son, the
Rev. Bernard "Dobby" and his wife, the Rev.
Dianna Thrash. She also leaves seven
grandchildren, Michael, David, Matthew and
Sarah Staats, Steven Thrash, Kelly Alexander
and Connie Dulaney, and she also leaves 13
great-grandchildren, one niece and three
nephews.
During an extended illness, she was cared for
in her home for the last 14 months by Kelly
Alexander and Richard Ziegler. Virginia had
worked at the American Viscose; she was a
volunteer "gray lady" at St. Joseph's
Hospital; and was a volunteer for the American
Red cross, where she worked with the blood
mobile and donated more than eight gallons of
blood herself. She was involved in the Gihon
Farm Women's Club. She was a member of the
Lauckport Baptist Church.
On her journey to Heaven, Virginia outlived
the members of her immediate family. She was
preceded in death by her two brothers, Russell
and Roy Curry, and one infant son.
Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at the
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Alan Lemon officiating.
Entombment will follow in the Sunset Memory
Gardens Chapel of Peace Mausoleum. The family
will receive friends from 10 a.m.-2 p.m.
Tuesday at the funeral home.
William L. Baker
William L. Baker, 74, of Parkland Place,
Parkersburg passed away May 13, 2005, at
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 4, 1931, at Apollo, Pa., a
son of the late Arthur L. and Matilda M. Stone
Baker. William worked as an exterminator.
Surviving are two stepsons, Bill Dailey in
Tennessee and Richard Dailey of Parkersburg; a
daughter, Linda Baker in Georgia; four
stepdaughters, Rose Dailey of Jacksonville,
Fla., Phyliss Bush of Parkersburg, JoAnn
Robertson of Belpre and Helen Gillespie of
Parkersburg; 26 grandchildren; 24 great-
grandchildren; and one brother, Richard C.
Baker of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Emma J.
Tuttle Baker in 1996, and a stepdaughter,
Susan Rice in 1983.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb
officiating. Burial will follow at the Harper
Hill (Five Mile) Cemetery on Ashby Ridge Road.
Friends may call 4-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.
Linnie F. Lemley
Linnie F. Townsend Lemley, 84, of Carl Lee Ray
Addition, Washington, W.Va., passed away May
9, 2005, at her home.
She was born March 16, 1921, at Belleville, a
daughter of the late Chester and Mary Sellers
Townsend. Linnie was a member of the Lubeck
Church of Christ. She enjoyed playing cards
and family games, bowling, spending time with
family and shopping.
Surviving are two sons, Bill Lemley and his
wife, Mary, and Larry "Butch" Lemley and his
wife, Doris, all of Parkersburg; three
daughters, Sharon Watters and her husband,
Don, of Parkersburg, Kathy Ingram and her
husband, Tim, and Shirley Hunt and her
husband, Camden, all of Washington; nine
grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; one
sister, Geraldine Eaton of Belleville; several
nieces and nephews; and a special sister-in-
law, Edna "Sis" Hively of Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Walter L. "Shorty" Lemley; a great-grandchild,
Cullen Ingram; and four brothers,
Vernice "Newt", Darrell "Bill", John and
Charles Townsend.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday
at the Lubeck Church of Christ with Evangelist
Jason Thompson officiating. Burial will follow
at Sunset Memory Gardens. The family will be
receiving friends from 6-8 p.m. today and 9
a.m. - 8 p.m. Wednesday at the Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 5th Street, Parkersburg, WV and one
hour prior to services Thursday
at the church.
