Donna Harris
Donna Platt Harris, 66, of Parkersburg passed
away Sunday, April 24, 2005, at her home with
her family.
She is reunited in death with her beloved son,
Kevin Harris; two sisters, Shirley Platt
Alabaugh and Josephine Hall; her parents, Lena
Hall and Othie Platt; and stepfather, Harry
Hall.
Donna is survived by her children, Melody
Cross Weekly, Karl L. Church Jr. and Brian
Harris; as well as a daughter-in-law,
Christina Church. She cherished the love and
friendship she shared with surviving sister,
Carolyn Ann Stonesphier. Donna was a proud
grandmother of three, Karl L. Church III,
Haley Church and Hanah Broadwater.
Donna's life was centered on her family and
friends. She became a single mother of three,
thus requiring strength and determination. Her
resolve appeared quiet, but every member of
this family knew to respect her wishes. Having
MS for 34 years did slow her physically;
however, it did not alter her resolve, her
sense of humor, her grace or patience. Her
compassion for others, especially those less
fortunate, is unparalleled. Donna was indeed a
wonderful, loving and charitable woman.
A daughter, sister, wife, devoted mother and
aunt, a mother-in-law and a proud grandmother.
Donna was a loyal friend and trusted advisor.
You are loved. You are remembered.
The family greatly appreciates the assistance
of Hospice. We cannot find the words to
adequately thank you. Also, special thanks to
nephew, David Harris Jr. for the love and care
during the final weeks.
Private graveside memorial services will be
held at the convenience of the family. There
will be no public visitation.
Memorial donations can be made to the
Housecalls Home Health & Hospice of
Parkersburg.
