Gary Lee Tucker, 56, of Parkersburg passed
away April 27, 2006, at his home.
Gary was born Dec. 31, 1949, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Clyde and Betty Sams Tucker.
Gary had been employed at Gatewood Products,
he enjoyed auctions and collecting Fenton Art
Glass and was of the Baptist faith.
Surviving are his wife, Susie Morris Tucker;
one son, Michael Tucker; two daughters, Lora
Hayes and her husband, Robin, and Lisa Nelson
and her husband, Herb, all of Parkersburg; one
granddaughter, Kendall Tucker; two brothers,
Richard Tucker and Roger Tucker, both of
Parkersburg; and three sisters, Judy Barker of
Florida, Carolyn West of Waverly and Sandra
Tucker of Parkersburg.
He was preceded in death by a brother, Danny
Tucker.
There will be a memorial service at 6 p.m.
Monday at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
Street, Parkersburg, with Pastor Michael Lamb
officiating. There will be a time of visiting
and remembrance with family and friends after
the service until 8 p.m.
Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services is
assisting the family with arrangements.
Arlene Mae Clutter Whitehead, 71, of
Parkersburg passed away May 1, 2006, at the
Willows Nursing Center.
She was born Feb. 18, 1935, in Parkersburg,
the daughter of the late Carl “Gabe” and
Mildred Brown Clutter. Arlene was of the
Baptist faith. She was a homemaker and enjoyed
flea markets and bingo. She was a life member
of the VFW, the DAV and the Amvets.
Surviving are her husband, Eugene M. “Gene”
Whitehead; a son, Eugene M. Whitehead Jr. and
his wife, Mabel M. Whitehead, of Belleville; a
granddaughter, Arlene Whitehead Bowman and her
husband, Jake Bowman, of Belleville; and four
great-grandchildren, Jordon, Morgan, Logan and
Jake Bowman.
She was preceded in death by a half-brother,
Richard Williams.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Jerry Caplinger
officiating. Entombment will be at the Chapel
of Peace at Sunset Memory Gardens. Friends may
call from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.
Adah McClain, 89, of Parkersburg passed away April 16, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Nov. 15, 1918, at Rosedale,
Gilmer County, W.Va., a daughter of the late
John and Mellie Shock Springston. Adah was a
long time member of the Calvary Memorial
Church and retired from the U.S. Bureau of
Public Debt with 22 years of service. She was
also a volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital for many years.
Surviving is one son, Richard “Dick” McClain
and his wife, Sharon, of Delaware, Ohio; two
grandchildren, Marc McClain of Walker, W.Va.,
and Kelley McClain of Delaware; two great-
grandchildren, Brandyn McClain and Tiara
McClain; one sister, Edna Mahaffey of Pocomoke
City, Md.; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Robert E. McClain in
1971; and two sisters, Frances Springston and
Evelyn Taggart.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at
Calvary Memorial Church with Pastor Rob
Collins officiating. Burial will follow at Mt.
Olivet Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral Home,
521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and also from noon
until service time Saturday at the church.
Verlena M Black
Parkersburg, WV
Verlena M. Black, 92, formerly of Broadway
Avenue Extension, Parkersburg, went home to be
with her Lord and Savior on April 14, 2008.
She was a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital in
Parkersburg.
She was born Jan. 26, 1916, at Hackers Valley,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Lawrence W. and
Gertrude Bosley Loudin. Verlena was a long
time member of Calvary Memorial Church and was
a retired cook with the Wood County Board of
Education and had years ago been employed with
the B.F. Goodrich Company in Akron, Ohio.
She was a member of the Wood County Senior
Citizens, was an avid sports fan and enjoyed
playing dominoes and card games.
Surviving are five sons, Thomas (Tom) Black
and his wife, Kathy, of Parkersburg, Robert
(Bob) Black and his wife, Deloris, of
Parkersburg, Howard Black and his wife,
Tawanda, of Mineral Wells, Jack Bush and his
wife, Mary, of Wasilla, Alaska, and Donald
Bush and his wife, Sharon, in Colorado; two
daughters, Carol S. Lynch and her husband,
Ronald, of Mineral Wells and Donna
Jean “Jennie” Johnston of Denver, Colo.; 23
grandchildren; several great-grandchildren;
one brother, Wayne Loudin of Denver, Colo.;
and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Harry W. Black; and three brothers, Loren
Loudin, Derius Loudin and Dana Loudin.
The funeral service will be 9 a.m. Saturday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Rob Collins
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen
North Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. Friday at the funeral home.
Following the committal service at the
cemetery, the family will return to the
funeral home for a meal and time of fellowship
at Oma’s Rose Reception Room in the funeral
home.
Mary G. Hale
Vincent, OH
Mary G. Hale, 74, of Vincent, Ohio, passed
away April 11, 2008 at Marietta Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Oct. 7, 1933 in Looneyville,
Roane County, a daughter of the late Urie D.
and Glenna Keaton Buchanan. She was a member
of St. Marks United Methodist Church and was a
graduate of Parkersburg High School and
Mountain State College. Mary was also a member
of the OCCL, the Barlow Volunteer Fire
Department Ladies Auxiliary and the United
Methodist Women. She enjoyed doing craft,
crocheting and quilting.
She is survived by her husband, James “Jim” L.
Hale; two sons, Jerry L. (Lynn) Hale of San
Ramon, Calif. and Leonard E. (Anita) Hale of
Vincent; two daughters, Dianna (Jim) Cowman of
Little Hocking and Jewell Ann Hale of Vincent;
five grandchildren, Jeremy Hale, U.S. Army
Staff Sgt. Jason Cowman, Rebecca Townsend,
Donald Hale and Amber Lauer; and five great-
grandchildren, Linzy Townsend, Shella Cowman,
Jaden Hale, Myah Townsend and Jace Cowman.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by a great-granddaughter, Nikky
Townsend.
Funeral services will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg with Pastor
David Hubbard officiating. Burial will follow
in Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will
be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.
