Lena Jean Eaton
Lubeck, WV
Lena Jean Hale Eaton of Lubeck passed away
Dec. 21, 2007, at home.
She was born Oct. 17, 1918, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Elbert L. and Myrtle S.
Burdette Hale. Lena was the wife of the late
Rev. William R. Eaton who served as a pastor
with the United Methodist Church. She had been
an employee with American Viscose in the
spooling department. She was a member of the
Lubeck United Methodist Church and was
currently attending Crossroads United
Methodist Church since residing with her
daughter and son-in-law, Betty and Larry
Wigal. She had been a partner in ministry with
her husband while serving churches in
Sandyville, West Union, Ripley and St. Andrews
United Methodist in Parkersburg. She was also
active in the local, district and conference
of the United Methodist Woman.
Lena was a former member of the Order of the
Eastern Star in Ripley, former president and
member of the Lubeck PTA and former member of
the Lubeck Volunteer Fire Department
Auxiliary. She was avid at crochet, having
donated many afghans to the elderly in area
nursing homes and enjoyed jigsaw puzzles.
Surviving is one son, Jimmy R. Eaton and his
wife, Sue, of Monroe, N.C.; four daughters,
Betty Wigal and her husband, Larry, of Lubeck,
Janet Walker and her husband, Waldo, of
Pasadena, Md., Linda J. Craddock and her
husband, General John, of Brussels, Belgium,
and Myrtle Beach, S.C., and Mary Jo Brown and
her husband, Steve, of Woodbridge, Va.; 10
grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; two
stepgreat-grandchildren; three great-great-
grandchildren; four stepgreat-great-
grandchildren; two brothers, John Hale of
Elizabeth and James “Jim” Hale of Barlow,
Ohio; five sisters, Elizabeth Holbert of
Mineral Wells, Lillian Gates of Porterfield,
Mary McPeek of Belpre, Doris Moyers of
Parkersburg and Georgia Wilson of Florida and
Parkersburg; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, she
was preceded in death by brothers, Walter Hale
and Burdette “Pete” Hale.
There will be a worship service in honor of
Lena at 2 p.m. Sunday at Kimes Funeral Home,
521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. John
Frum and the Rev. Steve Rhoades officiating.
Burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at
the funeral home.

Dena Jean Bixman Small
Shelbyville, KY
Dena Jean Bixman Small, 52, of Shelbyville,
Ky., passed away Dec. 19, 2007, at the
University Hospital in Louisville, Ky.
She was born Nov. 5, 1955, in Detroit, Mich.,
a daughter of Dennis Bixman in Tennessee and
Beverly Ulch Bixman Tanner of Mineral Wells.
She enjoyed quilting and crafts.
In addition to her parents, she is survived by
a son, Jason J. Bixman and his wife, Sabrina,
of Walker; a daughter, Christina Wilkins of
Shelbyville, Ky.; three grandchildren, Trenton
Bixman, Jocelyn Bixman and Joseph Wilkins;
three brothers, Roland Bixman and wife, Tammy,
of Parkersburg, Johnny Bixman and wife, Nancy,
of Petroleum and Mark Bixman and wife,
Veronica, of Elizabeth; one sister, Edythe
Anderson of Mineral Wells; and her former
husband, Stephen Small of Wadesville.
She was preceded in death by an infant
daughter; and her stepfather, Mayford Tanner.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Lynn Roush
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Wadesville Cemetery. The visitation will be
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

Alma Leta Buchanan
Parkersburg, WV
Alma Leta Buchanan, 92, of Parkersburg passed
away Dec. 17, 2007, at the Ohio Valley Health
Care Center.
She was born March 21, 1915, in Wyoming
County, a daughter of the late Fred D. and
Mary B. Stewart Naylor.
Alma was affiliated with South Parkersburg
Baptist Church and had been employed with
Butch’s Awning Shop. She enjoyed word puzzles,
sewing and loved and enjoyed her grandchildren.
Surviving are three sons, James T. Buchanan of
Mineral Wells, Robert L. Buchanan and wife,
Ilanna, of Marietta and William Perkins and
wife, Glenna, of Washington, W.Va.; four
daughters, Mary Brown and husband, Jack, of
Parkersburg, Sharon J. Burdette of
Parkersburg, Susan J. Wagoner and husband,
William, of Parkersburg and Helen L. Webster
and husband, Gary, of Vicksburg, Miss.;
numerous grandchildren and great-
grandchildren; one great-great-grandchild; one
sister, Nora B. Butcher and husband, Gene, of
Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her first husband, Woodrow
Perkins; her second husband, Lawrence Robert
Buchanan; four brothers, Robert, Lee, Virgil
and Edward Naylor; three sisters, Ethel Baker,
Verna Smith and Dorothy Collins; two
grandsons; two granddaughters; and two great-
grandsons.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Joe Busch
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.

Katherine B. Pfalzgraf
Rockport, WV
Katherine B. Pfalzgraf, 94, of Rockport,
W.Va., passed away Dec. 11, 2007, at her
daughter’s home where she had been residing.
She was born March 24, 1913, in Lowell, Ohio,
a daughter of the late Elvin and Hallie Misiel
Gessel.
Katherine was a member of the Tri-County
Worship Center at Rockport. She retired from
Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital as a nursing
assistant and former employee of Griener’s
Bakery for several years. She was a long-time
member of the Rockport-Limestone Extension
Homemakers Club and had been crowned Belle of
Wood County.
Surviving is her daughter, Betty Snyder and
her husband, the Rev. Everett Snyder of
Rockport; three sons, Dale Pfalzgraf in
Alabama, Paul Pfalzgraf and his wife, Karen,
of Parkersburg and John Pfalzgraf of Belpre;
11 grandchildren; 11 great-grandchildren; one
great-great-grandchild; and one brother,
Edmund Gessel of Rockport.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Robert Pfalzgraf Sr.;
a son, Robert Pfalzgraf Jr.; a brother, John
Gessel; and two sisters, Ruth Brown and Mary
Gessel.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday
at the Tri-County Worship Center with the Rev.
Everett Snyder and the Rev. Alan Tennant
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Rockport Cemetery. The visitation will be from
2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral home,
521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, and one hour prior
to the service Saturday at the church.
