Zella Delilah Asbury, 98, of Nitro died January 12, 2006, at home.
She was a native of Clendenin, a retired cook from Monsanto Sportsman Club, and a lifelong faithful charter member of Rock Branch Independent Church.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Robert William Asbury, and her children, Sterling Delee Asbury and Brenda Eloise Asbury.
Surviving: children, Ronald Asbury and wife, Mabel, of Nitro, Melvin "Bill" Asbury of Nitro, Homer Asbury and wife, Ada "Bunny," of Hampton, Virginia, Everett "Bert" Asbury and wife, Lola Bea, of Rock Branch, Verna Perdue and husband, Cary, of Elkhart, Indiana, Delmar Asbury of Nitro, and Mary Lou Shamblin and husband, Arnold, of Cross Lanes; 21 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; ten great-great-grandchildren.
Service was held Monday, January 16, 2006, at Rock Branch Independent Church with Pastor Delbert Hawley officiating. Burial was in Asbury Cemetery. Gatens-Harding Funeral Home, Poca, was in charge of arrangements.
Memorial donations may be made to Kanawha Hospice Care, 1143 Dunbar Avenue, Dunbar WV 25064.

Arthur D. Gray
Arthur D. Gray, 80, of Barboursville, W.Va., passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at Putnam General-Hospital. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by the Rev. Richard Sexton. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. He was born September 20, 1925, in Avon, N.C., a son of the late Arthur and Dorcas Williams Gray. He was retired from the U.S. Coast Guard with rank of Chief Petty Officer and was awarded the Bronze and Silver Star and served during World War 11. He was a member of Lewis Memorial Baptist Church. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laura Gray; one sister, Betty Ray and one brother, Lloyd Meekins. He is survived by sisters-in-law and brothers-in-law, Patsy and Elmo Bledsoe, Shirley and Kenny Bledsoe, Sandra and Roy Keyser, Betty Hall, and Jim and Nancy Smith and several nieces and nephews; cousins Roger and Georgianna Gray of Virginia Beach, Va., and Virginia Scarborough and Bill O'Neil, both of Outer Banks, N.C. Wallace Funeral Home, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements.

Danny Lee Kinder
Our brother, DANNY LEE KINDER, went to be with the Lord on January 12, 2006, in St. Mary's Medical Center. He was born May 27, 1944, in Cabell County, West Virginia, a son of the late Paul Kinder and Eloise Hysell Jackson. He was also preceded in death by his very special brother, George Kinder, and two very dear sisters-in-law, Ruth and Juanita Kinder. He is survived by his daughter, Christina Stump of Elkview, W.Va.; sisters, Shirley Allen of Culloden, W.Va., Brenda Keaton and Beth Spencer of Milton, W.Va.; brothers, Charles Kinder of Hurricane, Rickie Kinder .of Milton, and Greg Kinder of Brandon, Fla.; stepbrother Eddie Jackson of Milton. He also leaves behind his uncle Tom Hysell of Milton. He also leaves behind many nieces and nephews that he dearly loved and they in return loved him. Danny was a graduate of Milton High School and retired from Huntington Housing Authority. Funeral services were conducted at 1 p.m. Saturday, January 14, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Pastor James Jobe and Pastor Dickie Jobe. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. The family requests that donations be made to J. Robert Prichard Dialysis Foundation, c/o Michelle Conley, Cabell Huntington Hospital, Huntington, W.Va. Our promise to you is that we will all be together someday - free from all pain and sorrow.

Delmar "Bob" Henry Schulte
Delmar "Bob" Henry Schulte, 86 of Milton passed away Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Mass of Christian Burial was conducted 11 a.m. Saturday at St. Stephen's Catholic Church. Burial in Milton Cemetery. Bob was born January 9, 1920, in Breese, Ill., a son of the late John. and Mary Rolfingsmeir Schulte. He is also preceded in death by his first wife, June Schulte; one daughter, Carolyn Schulte, two brothers John Schulte and Lawrence Schulte; and two sisters, Della Chesney and Marie Higgins. He served in the United States Army during World War II. He is survived by his wife, Clara Worst Schulte; one daughter and son-in-law, Patricia and Toney Honaker, two grandsons, James Williamson and Joshua Honaker; one granddaughter, Jessica Honaker; two great-granddaughters, Breeann Williamson and Brandiee Matheny. Charles Edward Black
Charles Edward Black, 83, of Ona, went home to be with the Lord Saturday, Jan. 14, 2006. Funeral services were conducted at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by Brother Jim Hanna. Burial in Union Ridge Cemetery. He was born June 4, 1922, in Cabell County, a son of the late Elisha and Ethel Jenkins Black. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army serving in WWII. He is survived by his loving wife of 60 years, Phyllis Blake Black; three daughters and sons-in-law, Patty and Billy Spence of Milton. Charlotte Merritt of Huntington, Barbara and Jack Adkins of Barboursville; one son and daughter-in-law, Emzy and Sherry Black of Lesage; one sister, Laura Mount of Glenwood; seven grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren. Bonita Mills Lester
Bonita Mills Lester, 65, of Hughes Branch Road, Huntington, formerly of Beech Fork Road, East Lynn, WV, went home to be with the Lord, Jan 14, 2006. She was born July 18, 1940, a daughter of the late Lindsay and Josephine Burns Mills. Her husband, Ravin Lester, preceded her in death on Jan. 26, 2000. Also preceding her in death were one brother, William Henry Mills, and one sister, Elizabeth Mills. She is survived by two daughters and sons-in-law, Stephanie and Jerry Perry of Huntington, and Linda and Melvin Perry of Barboursville; two sons and one daughter-in-law, Jeffrey Allen and Kathleen Lester of Hamlin, and Joshua Keith Lester of Branchland; five grandchildren, Andrew and Kaylee Perry, and Stephanie Lester; two sisters, Dixie Clay and Linda Davis of East Lynn; one brother, Milton Mills, of East Lynn. Funeral services were conducted at 1 pm. Tuesday, Jan. 17, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Minister Emual Adkins. Burial in Mays-Lester Cemetery. Family members served as pallbearers.

Faye E. Clark
Mrs. Faye E. Clark, 91, of Milton, passed away Monday, January 9, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 12, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. Keith Leap. Burial in Forest Memorial Park Milton. She was born January 12, 1914, in Lincoln County, West Virginia, a daughter of the late George W. McGraw and Virginia Belle Murphy Kimbler McGraw. She was preceded in death by her husband, the Rev. Frank Clark. She is survived by one daughter and son-in-law, Carolyn and Roger Newstrom of Roswell, Ga.; four sons and daughters-in-law, G. Wesley and Virginia Clark of Colorado Springs, Colo., Niles and Gail Clark of Milton, Tony and Neta Clark of Kenova, and Mike and Peggy Clark of Huntington; grandchildren Catharine Clark-Sayles, Stephen Clark, Rebecca Clark, Craig Clark, Nila Clark, Lucia Davis, Michael Clark II, and Anthony Clark; great-grandchildren, Mike Clark III, Corey Elswick, Jasmine Watts, Mason Clark, Sophie Clark and Hillary Clark; and a special spiritual friend, Dallas Moore. She was a proud graduate of Milton High School Class of 1985, graduating at the age of 71, an officer of the Milton VFW Ladies Auxiliary, Milton Senior Citizens, and Neighborhood Watch, a volunteer of the Prestera Center and a member of Washington Ave. Church of God (Holiness), Milton. A celebration of her life and reception was held at the Milton Senior Center. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice of Huntington, Box 464, Huntington, WV 25709.

Helen I. Wrightsel
Helen I. Wrightsel, 81, of Milton, W.V., went to be with the Lord in January 9, 2006, in St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at noon Friday January 13, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home, Milton, by the Rev. Norman Stickler. Burial in White Chapel Memorial Gardens, Barboursville. She was born April 22,1924, in Milton, a daughter of the late Homer and Maggie Hughes Nottingham. She was preceded in death by her husband, Clarence Wrightsel; one son, Roger; sister, Frances King; and brother, Bill Nottingham. She is survived by two daughters and a son-in-law, Linda Browning of Milton and Diana and Paris McSweeney of Harmony, N.C.; one son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Sharlott Wrightsel of Milton; two sisters, Annie Pritt and Mary Ruth Moore; two brothers, Carl and Jackie Nottingham; 16 grandchildren and 19 great-grandchildren. The family wants to extend special thanks to the Mayes family, whom she regarded as her own, Linda, Charles, Tommy and Scottie; special friends, Molly Sliker, Goldie Beaman, Shellie Ball, Jack McCallister, Lucy Dick, Virginia Smith, Mary Smith, Ann Tipton, Grant Poston and Red Barcus. Helen was best known for always having a helping hand for anyone who needed it, caring for the sick, baby-sitting, always ready to feed you. She owned and operated Helens Lunch in Guyandotte

Roma Harold Adkins
Roma Harold Adkins, 68, of Salt Rock, W.Va., departed this world January 8, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center in the presence of all his family, to be with his heavenly Father. Harold was born on December 18, 1937, in Lincoln County. Harold was preceded in death by his father, Edward Jason Adkins; his mother, Thelma Lucas Adkins; his sister, Lenora Fitzsimmons and his brother, Kyle Mallon Adkins. Harold leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 47 years, Wanda Holton Adkins; one son and daughter-in-law, Jeff and Diane Adkins of Salt Rock; two daughters and sons-in-law, Alice and Max Riker of Ona and Julie and Brent Parsons of Barboursville; five grandchildren, Jessica and Tyler Osburn of Ona, Luke, Meagan and Eli Adkins of Salt Rock; also two very special great-grandchildren, Tori and Kaylee of Ona, and a host of nieces and nephews. Harold attended Valley of Decision Baptist Church and leaves behind a very loving and caring church family, Harold worked for 45 years in the oil and gas industry before retiring. Harold will be greatly missed by his family and friends. The family would like to offer their thanks and gratitude to the caregivers at St. Mary's Medical Center, the Oncology Department and Hospice of Huntington. Pallbearers include Tyler Osburn, Luke Adkins, John Berry, Todd Chapman, Kenny Holton and Jeremy Holton. Funeral services were conducted Wednesday, January 11, 2006, at the Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, by Pastor Kevin Shull. Burial in Baylous Cemetery, Salt Rock.

Bernie L. Dodson
Bernie L. "Toodle" Dodson, 80, of Milton, passed away Friday, Dec. 30, 2005, in St. Mary's Medical Center, Huntington. Graveside service was held Monday, Jan. 2, 2006, in Forest Memorial Park Mausoleum with Pastor Joe Phillips officiating. He was born Feb. 22, 1925, a son of the late Arnold and Virginia L. "Trudy" Abshire Dodson. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Alta Dodson and brother Bill Dodson. Bernie was a star football player at Dunbar High School and played semi-professional baseball. He was also a decorated veteran of the US Navy, having served in the Asian Pacific Campaign during World War II and a member of the American Legion Post 139, Milton. In addition, Bernie was an accomplished Gospel musician and singer. He is survived by three sons, Rikki Dodson, Ralph Dodson and Bernie Dodson; four daughters, Diana Gill, Cathleen Aplin, Deborah McDaniel and Melissa Spillers; two sisters, Carmen Hall of Ashland, Ohio and Helen McCroskey of South Charleston, W.Va.; seven grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; two very special friends, Larry and Mary Watts, and several loving nieces and nephews. Heck Funeral Home, Milton, was in charge of arrangements.

Elizabeth Ann VonVille
Elizabeth Ann VonVille, 22, of Huntington, passed away Wednesday, December 28, 2005. She was born September 16, 1983, in Huntington, a daughter of Darren and Carolyn Keller VonVille of Huntington. Also surviving are two brothers, Charles Edward and Christopher Shawn, both of Huntington. Wallace Funeral Home & Chapel, Barboursville, was in charge of arrangements. Funeral services were private.

Edith Louise Bowling
Edith Louise Bowling, 37, of Lesage, wife of Henry Bowling, died Saturday, December 31, 2005. Funeral services were conducted Thursday, January 5, 2006 at Stoney Hill Baptist Church; burial in Trout-Collins Cemetery. Arrangements by Morris Funeral Home, Wayne.

Mike "Pappy" Jenkins
Mike "Pappy" Jenkins, of South Point, Ohio, formerly of Milton, went home to be with the Lord Tuesday, January 3, 2006, at his residence. Funeral services were conducted 11 a.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Heck Funeral Home, Milton, with the Rev. Chelcie Gibson officiating. Burial in Jenkins Cemetery, Milton. He was employed at Blenko Glass Company for 38 years and was a dedicated brother and officer of the Fraternal Order of Eagles 2320, Huntington. He was born September 29,1947, in Huntington a son of the late Leroy and Evelyn Jenkins.
He is survived by his wife Connie; one stepson, Rusty McCoy and his wife Marjorie; two granddaughters, Alexxis and Madison whom he loved very much of Greensboro, N.C.; one brother, Tommy Jenkins; one sister, Judy Shull and her husband Steve; one sister-in-law, Shirley Shepard of South Point, Ohio; two brothers-in-law, Dan McCoy of Huntington and Bill McCoy of St. Petersburg, Fla., and a host of other family and friends. Alan G. Dowdy
Alan G. Dowdy, 51, of Apple Grove, W.Va., husband of Tina Sturgeon Dowdy, passed away Thursday, January 5, 2006, at St. Mary's Medical Center. Funeral services were conducted at 2 p.m. Saturday, January 7, 2006, at Chapman's Mortuary with the Rev. Bob Withers officiating. Burial in Spring Hill Cemetery, Huntington. He was born October 15, 1954, at Alexandria, Va., a son of Floyd G. and Jo Piper Dowdy of Tappahannock, Va. He was a veteran, serving with the U.S. Navy and was a disabled plumber.
Additional survivors include a daughter, Caitlin Dowdy of Huntington; two sons, Marc Dowdy of Huntington and Braxton Sturgeon of Apple Grove, W.Va.; a sister and brother-in-law, Deborah and Robert Sliger of Huntington; a grandchild and her mother, Carmen Briean and Heather Hilling of Huntington; mother and father-in-law, Ronald and Beverly Sturgeon of Huntington; sisters-in-law, Elizabeth Sturgeon of Milton and Rebecca Farley of Huntington, and brother-in-law, Ronald Sturgeon Jr., of Glenwood, W.Va., and two beloved dogs, Olive and Penny.
