Gary L Brown

Gary L. Brown, 61, of Parkersburg passed away Sept. 6, 2007, at his home.
He was born Aug. 23, 1946, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Lloyd D. and Goldie E. Thomas
Brown Malone.
Gary was a longtime employee with Family
Carpet and a former employee of Kincheloe
Motors. He was a member of the Larry Bond
Racing Team and was an avid hunter and NASCAR
fan.
Surviving are two sons, Mike S. Brown and his
wife, Julie, and Gary L. Brown Jr. and his
companion, Angie Hill, all of Parkersburg; one
daughter, Lisa Diane Brown and her companion,
Jeff Tallman, of Parkersburg; one
stepdaughter, Kayla Lowry of Athens, Ohio;
five grandchildren; a half-brother, John Brown
of Williamsburg, Va.; a stepbrother, Bruce
Malone of Parkersburg; a sister, Judy Parrish
and her husband, Bob, of Parkersburg; and a
sister-in-law, Sheila Brown in California.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Vicki Jo Meeks Brown; and a
brother, Wayne G. Brown.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m.
Saturday at Evergreen South Cemetery with
Pastor Arlene Shaffer officiating. Visitation
will be from 5-8 p.m. today at Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg.
Larry Eugene Jarvis
Pettyville, WV
Larry Eugene Jarvis, 60, of Pettyville, passed
away Sept. 6, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital due to complications with Alzheimer’s.
He was born Dec. 20, 1946, in Columbus, Ohio,
son of Chester Jarvis and the late Juanita
Huber Jarvis. He graduated from Parkersburg
High School with the class of 1965 and retired
from Shell Chemical in November 2000. He
enjoyed hunting, fishing, NASCAR and was
involved in dirt track racing in the Mid-Ohio
Valley.
Surviving is his wife of 39 years, Judith Ann
Jarvis; caregivers, Evelyn Hastings, Jerry
Morton and Ed Shuman; and his faithful dog,
Jackson.
He was preceded in death by an infant
daughter, Nicole; and his in-laws, Bob and
Violet Tumlin.
The funeral service will be noon Saturday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Rick Brown
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen
South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 1-9
p.m. today and 9 a.m. until service time
Saturday at the funeral home.
Margaret Knupp
Vienna, WV
Margaret Knupp, 75, of Vienna, passed away Sept. 5, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Sept. 5, 1932, in Jackson County,
a daughter of the late Ira H. and Samary Jones
Nesselroad. Margaret was affiliated with Swain
Ministries of New Matamoras. For many years,
she served as a minister, counselor and Bible
teacher, was gifted with the ability to play
musical instruments and was a professional
comedian.
Surviving is her husband of 45 years, Russell
H. Knupp; one son, Thomas D. Duffy of
Parkersburg; one daughter, Laura E. Anderson
of Vienna; five grandchildren, Misty D.
(Jayson L.) Morris, William Russell (Jamie
Shutts) Anderson, Thomas D. Duffy III,
Christopher T. Duffy and Amy Michelle Duffy;
four great-grandchildren; three brothers,
William H. Nesselroad, John E. Nesselroad and
Joe Nesselroad, all of Parkersburg; and a
special cousin, Martha Jane Cumpston of Akron.
She was preceded in death by a grandson,
Andrew Michael Duffy; two brothers, Charles
and James Nesselroad; a sister, Martha Irene
Nesselroad; and her stepmother, Marie Fleak
Nesselroad.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Danny Lemasters
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Pleasant Home Cemetery at Belleville.
Visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today
and one hour prior to the service Saturday at
the funeral home.
Willard J Church
Formerly of Belpre, OH
Willard J. Church, 90, of Pawleys Island,
S.C., formerly of Belpre went home to his
Savior and Lord on Sept. 2, 2007, at The Lakes
at Litchfield, following an extended illness.
He was born in Gilmer County a son of the late
Charles and Ava Weaver Church. He was a member
of the Mullen Memorial Baptist Church in
Belpre and regularly attended Pawleys Island
Baptist Church, Pawleys Island, for the past
eight years.
He was an independent trucker for many years
and retired from trucking with the DuPont Co.
in 1977. In addition, he served in the United
States Army from December 1941 to October
1945. As a member of the Reconnaissance
Company 637th Tank Destroyer Battalion,
fighting in the Pacific Theater, he was
awarded the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon and
the Philippine Liberation Ribbon with two
bronze campaign stars.
He is survived by one son, Donald Church of
Parkersburg; one daughter and son-in-law,
Maxine and Butch Carpenter of Pawleys Island,
S.C.; four grandsons, Jim Harmon (wife,
Kimberlee) of Beavercreek, Ohio, Chad Harmon
(wife, Hannah) of New Albany, Ohio, Jayson
Church (wife, Amy) of Belpre, and Brian Church
(wife, Christina), also of Belpre; seven great-
grandchildren, Katelin and Garrett Harmon,
Will Harmon, Tyce and Blake Church and Schylar
and Arial Church. He is also survived by one
brother, Blaine Church; two sisters, Betty
Sweet and Madeline Branch, all of Belpre; and
by several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife of 53 years, Wilma Church,
and by three brothers, Karl Church, Glady
Church and Arlie Church.
Visitation will be 6-8 p.m. Thursday at Kimes
Funeral Home, Parkersburg. The Rev. Jim Mike
Ward will preside over the funeral service,
which will be 11 a.m. Friday at the Mullen
Memorial Baptist Church in Belpre. Additional
viewing will be held at the church one hour
prior to the service. Military rites will be
rendered by the American Legion Post 15.
An additional memorial service will be 11 a.m.
Sept. 14 at the Pawleys Island Baptist Church,
Pawleys Island.
