Geraldine R. "Jean" Eaton

Geraldine R. ‘‘Jean’’ Eaton, 91, of Belleville
passed away April 29, 2007, at her daughter’s
home at Belleville.
She was born June 27, 1915, at Belleville, a
daughter of the late Chester and Mary Sellers
Townsend. Geraldine was a member of the
Hopewell Church of Christ. She enjoyed
quilting and gardening and was known for her
pie baking and homemade noodles.
Surviving is her daughter, Shelia R. Young and
husband, Mark, of Belleville; three grandsons,
Gregory Mark Young and wife, Debbie, of
Belleville, Timothy Alan Young and wife,
Alfredia, of Salem, Ohio, and Eric Matthew
Young and wife, Amy, of Belleville; and eight
great-grandchildren, Noelle Young, Seth Young
Sabitino, Shane Young, Chance Young, Dalton
Young, Cody Young, Brie-Ann Young and Rochel
Young.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 69
years, Chancy Cecil Eaton on Feb. 28, 2005;
four brothers, Vernice ‘‘Newt’’ Townsend,
Darrell ‘‘Bill’’ Townsend, John Townsend and
Charles Townsend; and a sister, Linnie Lemley.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Evangelist Andew J. Robison
IV officiating. Burial will follow at the
Hopewell Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8
p.m. Tuesday at the funeral home.

Helen I. Wingrove
Waverly , WV
Helen I. Wingrove, 92, of Waverly passed away April 26, 2007, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
She was born Dec. 26, 1914, in Iowa, a
daughter of the late Logan and Nora Ethel
Stephens Carpenter.
Helen was a long time member of Pleasant Grove
United Methodist Church, where she had been
active in the ladies auxiliary. She retired
from Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital Nursing
Division, was a former employee of American
Viscose and enjoyed quilting.
Surviving is her son, James E. Wingrove and
wife, Sharon, of Waverly; three daughters,
Margaret Huggins of Williamstown, Shirley
Flesher and husband, John, of Waverly and
Peggy Baileys and husband, Denny, of
Parkersburg; 13 grandchildren; 30 great-
grandchildren; three great-great-
grandchildren; and a brother, Jim Carpenter
and wife, Resi, of Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 62
years, Clarence E. Wingrove in 1997; a
brother, Joe Carpenter; and a sister, Nellie
Phillips.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Wayne Brown
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Pleasant Grove Church Cemetery on Bull Run
near Waverly. Visitation will be 4-8 pm today
at the funeral home.

Gordon Lee Somerville
Parkersburg, WV
Gordon Lee Somerville, 81, of Parkersburg
passed away April 25, 2007, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born March 20, 1926, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Fred J. and Ada Ludwig
Somerville.
Lee retired from Borg Warner (Marbon) in 1987
with 30 years of service. He had previously
worked at Electro Mat Power Station. He was a
1944 graduate of Parkersburg High School,
taught mechanics at Trade School and had
worked at Stewart Airport and Wood County
Airport as a mechanic. He was an avid
fisherman and hunter, member of the Borg
Warner Skeet and Gun Club and had been a
member of the National Rifle Association. He
loved his kids, his grandkids and his animal
friends.
Surviving is his wife of 51 years, Sue Gum
Somerville; one son, Don Brian Somerville of
the home; four daughters, Cathy and Steve
Ahart of Belpre, Lauren and Paul Bishop of
Brookville, Pa., Beth and Blaine Minney of
Parkersburg and Janet of Lubeck; 10
grandchildren, Abby and Kaitlyn Ahart,
Stephanie and Steve Johnson, James and Nick
Bishop, Alivia and Joel Hummel, Cody and
Meriah Minney and Alexandria and Austin
Metcalf; one sister, Ruth McDougle of Tucson,
Ariz.; extended family, William and Jeanie
Gum, Mike and Nancy Gum, Dave and Rose Gum,
Lou and Fred Cumpston, Bob Middleton and
friend, Todd Metcalf; and many cousins, nieces
and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a brother and sister-in-law, Paul and
Mary Louise Somerville; and brother-in-law,
Rolla McDougle.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Saturday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Stergel Vincent
officiating. Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-8 p.m.
today at the funeral home.
Donald M Eads
Gurnee, IL
Donald M. Eads, 74, of Gurnee, Ill., passed
away April 24, 2007, at Manor Care Health
Services in Northbrook, Ill.
Don was born Dec. 28, 1932, in Parkersburg,
W.Va., the son of the late Thomas E. and Zelma
P. Eads. Don was a U.S. Navy veteran, having
joined the Navy in 1953 and was stationed in
Northern Africa. After the Navy, he returned
to Parkersburg and graduated from Mountain
State College and Ohio University. He pursued
a career in the expanded metal business that
began in 1959 with the Penn Metal Corporation
in Vienna, W.Va. He was very successful in the
business and held positions with many
different companies, including Keene
Corporation, Wheeling Steel and he retired
after a long tenure with Metalex Corporation
in Libertyville, Ill. Don was a very caring
and loving man and was very fond of all of his
family especially his nieces and nephews. He
had great compassion for all animals.
He is survived by several nieces and nephews,
Jeff Sheridan of Germantown, Tenn., William
Marteney of Vienna, W.Va., Karen Eads of
Nebraska, Larry Thomas of Parkersburg, Susan
Eads Vanwyk of Otis Orchard, Wash., Connie
Eads of Pittsburgh, Pa., Rebecca Marteney Hess
of Orlando, Fla., Linda Thomas Perry of
Belleville, W.Va., and Mike Davis of
Greenacres, Wash.
He was preceded in death by his parents,
Thomas Everett and Zelma Pearl Eads; brothers
and sisters, Norman Eads Sheridan, Margaret
Eads Marteney, Esther Mae Eads Thomas, Thomas
Everett Eads Jr. (June), Robert Eads and
Harold Eads; and nieces and nephews, Alice
Sheridan Roush, Thomas Marteney and James
Sheridan.
The family is planning a private memorial
service in Parkersburg, W.Va., at a later date.
