U.S., Social Security Death Index, 1935-2014

Christopher John Farson, 31, of Parkersburg
died as a result of injuries sustained in an
automobile accident on April 19, 2008.
He was born May 17, 1976, in Wood County, a
son of David C. Farson of Waverly and Tammy
Lynn Cox Martin of New Matamoras, Ohio.
Chris was a graduate of St. Marys High School,
had been baptized at the Willow Island Baptist
Church and had been employed as a welder with
PCI Industries of Mineral Wells for the past
six years.
As a boy, he had been active in sports. He was
an avid Harley-Davidson fan and enjoyed
fishing and playing guitar.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by
his wife, Angela M. Modesitt Farson and his
son, Christopher Shane Farson at home. Also
surviving are his stepfather, David Martin and
his stepmother, Cheryl Farson; his maternal
grandmother, Fran Vaughn of St. Marys; his
paternal grandfather, Donald C. Farson of
Waverly; a brother, Jessie Higgins of Waverly;
two sisters, Dawn Ruschal Farson of New
Matamoras and Amy Jo Farson of Waverly; and a
host of cousins, aunts, uncles, nieces,
nephews and friends.
Preceding him in death was his paternal
grandmother, Lois Farson; maternal
grandfather, Eddie C. Cox; grandparents, Ruth
Ann and George C. Martin; and uncle, Shawn Cox.
The funeral service has tentatively been
scheduled for 2 p.m. Friday at Kimes Funeral
Home, 521 Fifth St., Parkersburg, with Pastor
David Beaver officiating. Burial will follow
at the Willow Island Cemetery in Pleasants
County. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-
8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home. The
family has requested that people be dressed
casually for the visitation and funeral.
The pallbearers will be Shane Modesitt, Nathan
Janes, Kelly Cox, Seth Cox, Joe Dornon, Shawn
Jones, John Kinnard, Scott Jarvis and Ben
Mattingly.

Edward E. Diehl, 83, of Parkersburg, passed
away April 20, 2008, at The Inn at Marietta.
He was born Jan. 7, 1925, at Erie, Pa., a son
of the late Wesley and Harriett (Brower) Diehl.
Mr. Diehl was a U.S. Navy veteran of World War
II, retired from Butler Industries as a
foreman and had formerly been employed at the
Parkersburg Rig and Reel. He was an active
member of the Stout Memorial United Methodist
Church, a member of Mt. Olivet Masonic Lodge
3, the VFW of Oil City, Pa., and was a
volunteer at Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
He is survived by his wife, Leah Jackson
Diehl; one son, Edward W. Diehl and his wife,
Janice, of Piermont, Ohio; four grandchildren
Wesley Diehl (Lori) of McAlisterville, Pa.,
Nathan Diehl (Alicia) of Robertsdale, Ala.,
Timothy Diehl (Tracey) of Mohrsville, Pa., and
Jennifer White (Charles) of Painesville, Ohio;
seven great-grandchildren; one brother, Robert
Diehl (Ann) of Sandusky, Ohio; and two
sisters, Elizabeth “Betty” Speros (Ted) and
Eileen Mills, both of Erie, Pa.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by an infant brother, Wesley Diehl.
Funeral services will be 1 p.m. Wednesday at
Kimes Funeral Home with the Rev. Scott Sears
officiating. Burial will follow at the Mt.
Olivet Cemetery, Parkersburg. Friends may call
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral
home.

The Rev. Retis D. Dent, 77, of Parkerstown,
Parkersburg, who truly loved his Lord, passed
from this earthly life on April 21, 2008. He
was a patient at St. Joseph’s Hospital.
He was born June 3, 1930, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Harry C. and Lottie Deem Dent.
Retis was a member of the Red Hill United
Methodist Church and was a retired Methodist
Minister having served congregations at
Belleville, Logan, Auburn, Ellenboro and
Hundred, W.Va. He had also retired from the
City of Parkersburg. He was a member of the
Masonic Lodge 131 of Littleton, W.Va. He
enjoyed hunting and fishing and dearly loved
his Red Hill Church family.
Surviving is his wife, Delora Hall Dent; two
sons, Gregory Dent and his wife, Kyla, of
Marietta and Brian Dent and his wife, Karen,
of Athens; three daughters, Gloria Sellers and
her husband, Tim, of Parkersburg, Brenda
Chambers and her husband, Mark, of Evans, Ga.,
and Beth Walker of Ovilla, Texas; seven
grandchildren, Staci Wyatt, Sheri Wyatt, Karly
Wynn and her husband, RJ, Shaun Dent, Kimberly
Dent, Kathleen Dent and Nicole Dent; three
stepgrandchildren, TJ Sellers, Bryan Sellers
and Terrence Glasser; four great-
grandchildren, Alyssa Wyatt, Kilynn Wynn, Koen
Sellers and Kayla Sellers; a sister, Joanna
Yielky of Hollandale, Fla.; and several nieces
and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, Mac Dent and infant Carroll
Dent; and two sisters, Frances Fought and
Helen Grover.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday
at the Red Hill United Methodist Church off of
U.S. Route 50 east of Parkersburg. The Rev.
Sue Jones will officiate and burial will
follow at the Limestone Cemetery at Rockport
with Masonic graveside rites. The visitation
will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, and one hour prior to the service
Thursday at the church.

Patrick Joseph Gage, 23, of Elizabeth, W.Va.,
passed away April 23, 2008. He had been taken
to the emergency room at St. Joseph’s Hospital
in Parkersburg after being ill at home with
the flu.
Patrick was born July 16, 1984, in
Parkersburg, a son of Dennis M. (Dex) Gage and
Sandra Kay Kerr Gage of Elizabeth. He was a
graduate of Wirt County High School, where he
was a drummer in the band. Patrick was co-
owner of the Subway Shop in Elizabeth, had
attended the Elizabeth Baptist Church and was
a member of the Crossroads United Methodist
Church near Waverly, W.Va. Patrick enjoyed
drumming and was a movie fanatic.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by
his brother, Jason Mark Gage of Glenville; his
maternal grandmother, Edith Kerr of
Parkersburg; several aunts, uncles, cousins
and a host of friends; and his girlfriend, the
love of his life, Wendy Roberts of Elizabeth.
He was preceded in death by his maternal
grandfather, Bruce Kerr; and his paternal
grandparents, Lewis and Josephine Lombardo
Gage.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Mark McCloy
officiating. Burial will follow at the K of P
Cemetery at Elizabeth. The visitation will be
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Saturday at the funeral
home.

Raymond T. Winkler, 55, a resident of the
Eagle Pointe Nursing Facility for the past 16
years, passed away May 5, 2008, at Eagle
Pointe.
He was born July 1, 1952, a son of Carl T.
Winkler of Vero Beach, Fla., and the late
Doris Jeannette Valland Winkler. He was a
graduate of West Virginia University and had
been employed with the West Virginia State
Road Commission and Union Carbide.
In addition to his father, he is survived by a
son, Benjamin Winkler, and daughter, Felicia
Lemon, both serving with the United States
Armed Forces; and one sister, Sharon Wood of
West Palm Beach, Fla.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by
Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services, 521
Fifth St., Parkersburg. There will be no
services or visitation.
Memorial donations may be directed to the
Multiple Sclerosis Society.
