Jack Randall Valentine I, 74, of Parkersburg
passed away Jan. 18, 2009, at St. Joseph's
Hospital.
He was born Dec. 14, 1934, in Vienna, a son of
the late E.W. and Letha Deem Valentine.
Jack was a graduate of Parkersburg High
School, retired from DuPont with 35 years of
service and was a former employee with A&P
Grocery. He was an active member of Trinity
United Methodist Church, where he had served
on various boards, served as a trustee and a
greeter. He enjoyed bowling and crossword
puzzles.
Surviving is his wife of nearly 53 years,
Carol Lee Grace Roberts Valentine; one son,
Jack Randall Valentine II "Randy" and his
wife, Brenda, of Vincent, Ohio; three
daughters, Melody Ann Deitrich and her
husband, Cecil, of New Martinsville, Pamela
Sue Parker and her husband, Lester, of
Chester, Ohio, and Letha Hope Hoskinson and
her husband, Dave, of Belpre; seven
grandchildren, Candy Southerly, Cecil Deitrich
III, Leslie Rayburn, Lester Parker II, Josh
Valentine, Felishia Valentine Yoho and Jamie
Mason; seven great-grandchildren, Kazden
Valentine, Colten Rayburn, Cody Rayburn,
Conner Rayburn, Lester Parker III, Matthew
Parker and Leigha Parker; five special kids
that are loved as grandchildren, Levi
Southerly, Nicky Kelley, LaDonna Kelley, Scott
Coffey and Damion Dailey; two brothers,
Richard "Dick" Valentine (Shirley) of
Washington, W.Va., and Robert "Bob" Valentine
(Betty) of Vienna; one sister, Justine
Bonauito (Frank) in California; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a grandson, Ryan Valentine; a great-
granddaughter, Kylee Vanessa Contreas; three
brothers; and five sisters.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Wednesday
at Trinity United Methodist Church, 10th
Avenue and Thomas Street in south Parkersburg.
The Rev. James Burdette will officiate and
burial will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens.
The visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. today at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, and he will lie in state one hour
prior to the service Wednesday at the church.
William "Bill" Nesselroad
Parkersburg, WV
William "Bill" Nesselroad, 81, of Parkersburg,
passed away Jan. 15, 2009, at his residence.
He was born Aug. 5, 1927, in Jackson County, a
son of the late Ira H. and Samary Jones
Nesselroad.
He was a retired taxi cab driver and enjoyed
working jigsaw puzzles and reading western
novels.
Surviving is his son, Robert (Kristy)
Nesselroad of Parkersburg; two daughters,
Martha Dailey (Sean) of Parkersburg and
Barbara Richmond (James) of Virginia; five
grandchildren, Heather Nesselroad, Amber
Nesselroad, Robert Shockey III, Jared Dolak
and Jennifer Dolak; several great-
grandchildren; two brothers, John Nesselroad
of Parkersburg and Joe Nesselroad of
Washington, W.Va.; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his stepmother, Goldie Marie Fleak
Nesselroad; a grandson, William Shockey; two
brothers, James F. "Jim" Nesselroad and
Charles Nesselroad; and two sisters, Martha
Irene Nesselroad and Margaret Knupp.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with Thomas Duffy officiating.
Burial will follow at the Wadesville Cemetery with military rites conducted by the American
Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg. Visitation will
be from noon until service time Sunday at the
funeral home.
Ermalee Rhodes
Parkersburg, Wv
Ermalee Rhodes, 80, of Parkersburg passed away Jan. 12, 2009, at her daughter's home in
Mineral Wells.
She was born Feb. 29, 1928, in Jackson County,
a daughter of the late Otho and Ina Thomas
Price.
Ermalee was a member of the Calvary Temple
Church on Market Street, was a homemaker and
enjoyed raising and tending to her flowers
both inside and outside.
Surviving is her daughter, Cheryl (Frank)
Lockhart of Mineral Wells; three
grandchildren, Nicholas (Christina), Seth and
Brandon Lockhart; two great-grandchildren,
Hayden Lockhart and Cody Eakins; one brother,
Darrell (Alma) Price of Cross Lanes; two
sisters, Orpha Casto of Nitro and Chrystal
Thomas of Washington, W.Va.; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Raymond "Ray" Rhodes;
two brothers, Ronald Price and Clarevon Price;
and a sister, Melva Carpenter.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Don Cunningham
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Fairplains Cemetery in Jackson County. The
visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. today
at the funeral home.
Sharon Ann Wyatt Todd
Belpre, OH
Sharon Ann Wyatt Todd, 55, of Belpre passed
away at her home on Jan. 8, 2009.
She was born on March 13, 1953, in
Parkersburg, a daughter of the late Arthur L.
and Anna Kathryn Weekley Wyatt.
Sharon was a member of the Big Tygart Baptist
Church, a graduate of Parkersburg High School,
was employed with Prima Marketing and had been
a member and former officer with the Women of
the Moose Lodge.
Surviving are her sons, Brian (Stephanie)
McCormick of Vienna and Jamie McCormick of
Phoenix, Ariz.; her daughter, Sharee Todd of
Belpre; two grandsons, Wyatt and Cole
McCormick; her brother, John Lee (Vickie)
Wyatt of Belpre; and a number of close friends.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Bernard "Dobby"
Thrash officiating. Burial will follow at
Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be
from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Sunday at the funeral
home.
Garnet Evelyn Reeder
Parkersburg, WV
Garnet Evelyn Allen Reeder, 95, joined her
holy father after a brief illness on Jan. 8,
2009.
She was born in Wood County, Dec. 26, 1913, a
daughter of the late Cora Carpenter Allen Sams
and Ernest E. Allen. There to also greet her
in the holy garden was her loving husband of
53 years, Virgil E. Reeder; her two sisters,
Pauline Allen McCutcheon and Ernestine Allen
Farr; and nephew, Ernest Allen Farr.
Garnet was a member of the Parkview United
Methodist Church, P.U.M. Women and the Order
of White Shrine of Jerusalem Bethany Shrine 14
of Parkersburg and former member of the Blenn
Marr Extension Homemakers Council, where she
was a Wood County Belle and had been employed
by the American Viscose and the Chancellor
Hotel Dining Division.
She is survived by her nieces, Linda Gay
(Denny) Metz, her caregiver and the loving
daughter she never had, and Paula (Werner)
Zoller; and her nephews, Larry T. (Oma) Farr
and Robert (Pat) McCutcheon.
Even though she had no children of her own,
she was loved by nine great, 17 great-great
and four great-great-nieces and nephews. She
will be sadly missed by her very close family,
great-niece, Robin Knapp (Scott Sinnett); her
great-nephews, Craig (Gayla) Metz and Johnny
(Kim) Farr; great-great-nieces, Courtney
(Mark) Byrd and Kendra and Kylie Metz; great-
great-nephews, Derrick (Natalie) Knapp, Cody
(Sarah) Metz, Cole and Cory Metz, Josh and Joe
Runnion; and nephew, Bruce DeQuasie. She also
had the great pleasure of welcoming her great-
great-great-nephews and niece, Braxton Byrd,
Maddox Burwell and Hailey Metz.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Saturday
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Allen Johnson and
Pastor Rick Brown officiating. Burial will
follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 2-8 p.m. today at the
funeral home.
