Mildred L. Barker, 93, of Parkersburg, passed
away Dec. 21, 2008, at the Arcadia Nursing
Home at Coolville, Ohio.
She was born April 10, 1915, in Wood County,
the daughter of the late Homer and Hattie
Martin Lincicome.
Mildred was of the Methodist faith and retired
from the Wood County Board of Education Food
Service Department. She was a member of the
DAV, Eagles, American Legion, VFW and the
Legion of Guardsman.
Surviving is her son, Gary W. Church and his
wife, Linda L. Church, of Parkersburg; and two
stepgrandchildren, Brenda Barnes and husband,
Tom, of Vienna and Rhonda Arnott and husband,
Randy, of Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her first
husband, Burley Church; and her second
husband, Delbert F. Barker Sr.
There will be a graveside service at 3:30 p.m.
today at Parkersburg Memorial Gardens, with
Pastor Jerry Caplinger officiating. There will
be no visitation.
Kimes Funeral Home & Cremation Services is
assisting the family with the cremation and

Richard A. "Dick" Schuler
Parkersburg, wv
Richard A. "Dick" Schuler, 72, of Parkersburg,
passed away Dec. 19, 2008, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.
He was born April 8, 1936, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Charles and Lillian Erickson
Schuler. Dick had worked as a dry cleaner at
Betty Brites for 40 years and formerly worked
at Bonnetts and Vogues Cleaners. He was a
member and past president of the Godbey Field
Sports Association, where he coached girls
softball for over 20 years. He loved and
enjoyed his grandchildren and great-
grandchildren, and especially enjoyed
attending all of their sporting events.
Surviving is his wife of 53 years, Shirley Ann
Anderson Schuler; one son, Richard Schuler Jr.
(Carey) of Parkersburg; three daughters, Jenny
Deberry of Inman, S.C., JoAnn Schuler Harrison
of Parkersburg and Captain Janet Schuler
Harrod (Alex) of Fort Hood, Texas, currently
serving in Iraq; nine grandchildren, Steven
Deberry, Ricky Deberry, Michael Deberry, Leann
Schuler (a freshman at WVU), Jennifer Schuler,
Ashley Schuler, Alexis Harrod, Samuel Wayne
Schuler and Mollie Miller; three great-
grandchildren, Eli Deberry, Caitlyn Headlee
and Madison Joe Richards; one sister, Patricia
Drain of Parkersburg; half sister, Marie; and
a special nephew and niece, Dale Drain Jr. and
Kellie.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by an infant son, Russell Schuler; a
brother, Donald Schuler; and a half sister,
Polly.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Keith Hostottle
officiating. Burial will follow at Evergreen
South Cemetery. Visitation will be from 2-4
and 6-8 p.m. Monday.

Richard Franklin Farrow
Parkersburg, WV
Richard Franklin Farrow, 82, of Parkersburg
passed away Dec. 1, 2008, in the emergency
department of Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital.
Richard had been in failing health for the
past few years.
He was born Nov. 11, 1926, in Wood County, a
son of the late Frank and Myrtle Congrove
Farrow. He was a member of the Mullen Memorial
Baptist Church in Belpre and retired from
Corning Glass with 39 years of service.
Richard was a U.S. Army veteran of World War
II, having served with the Military Police. He
was a member of the Fort Boreman Civil War
Round Table Association. He enjoyed coin
collecting, woodworking and even built the
family home himself.
Surviving is his wife, Irene L. Noland Farrow;
one son, Michael Richard Farrow (Sherri) of
Wilmington, N.C.; daughter, Judy Diane
Weybright (Gary) of Knights Town, Ind.;
grandchildren, Michael Farrow, Heather Farrow,
Gary Scott Holler, Alex Farrow, Nathan
Weybright and Nicholas Weybright; five great-
grandchildren; three nephews, Doug Farrow,
Dallas Flowers and Delbert Flowers; and a
niece, Teresa Farrow.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a son, Gary Howard Farrow in 1973; a
daughter, Saundra Lee Farrow in 1974; and a
brother, Howard Farrow and his wife, Ruth.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor John Strimer and the
Rev. Kent Lowther officiating. Entombment will
follow at Sunset Memory Gardens "Court of Ten
Commandments" with military rites conducted by
the American Legion Post 15 of Parkersburg.
The visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. today at
the funeral home.

John F. "Jack" Sams
Parkersburg, WV
John F. "Jack" Sams, 78, of Parkersburg,
passed away Nov. 30, 2008 at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital's Coronary Care Unit.
He was born Sept. 28, 1930, in Parkersburg, a
son of the late Lloyd Franklin and Ernestine
Judson Sams. Jack was owner and operator of
Parkersburg Printing for the past 49 years. He
was a 1948 graduate of Parkersburg High School
and longtime member of the Lauckport United
Methodist Church. He was a member of the Mt.
Olivet Masonic Lodge 3, the Scottish Rite, the
Shriners of North America and the Parkersburg
Bowlers Association's Hall of Fame. He was an
avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed playing
golf.
Surviving is his wife, Dora Ruth Farley Sams;
four sons, Ronald L. (Robin) Sams of Wierton,
Rodney L. (Michelle) Sams of Laurel, Md., John
K. Sams of Parkersburg and Michael S. (Linda)
Sams of Elizabeth; two stepsons, Anthony M.
(Kim) Sampson of Tuppers Plains and Gregory L.
(Cheri) Sampson of Warren, Ohio; stepdaughter,
Beverly Sampson of Little Hocking; 16
grandchildren; 27 great-grandchildren; three
brothers, Robert Sams (Doletta) of
Minneapolis, Minn., Richard P. Sams of
Coolville and Thomas E. Sams of South Point,
Ohio; one sister, Mary A. Amborse (William) of
Parkersburg; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his first wife, Ruth E. Davis Sams in
1997; and a brother, Francis D. Sams.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Wednesday
at the Lauckport United Methodist Church on
Camden Avenue in south Parkersburg. The Rev.
Norman Butler and the Rev. Kenneth Nolan will
officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. The visitation will be from 2-4 and
6-8 p.m. Tuesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth St. in Parkersburg and one hour prior to
services Wednesday at the church.

Violet M. Teeters
Cairo, WV
Violet M. Teters, 58, of Cairo, passed away Nov. 30, 2008, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
She was born in Wood County, a daughter of the
late Rev. Harold B. and Mabel Rissie Parker.
She enjoyed watching television shows.
Survivors are her daughter, Margaret
G. "Margie" Stump of Cairo; six grandchildren,
Harold Allen, Sandra Kay, Tammy Lee, Marie
Gale, Michelle Lee and James Matthew Stump; a
great-granddaughter; two brothers, Joseph
(Libby) Parker of Parkersburg and Donald
(Glenna) Parker in Indiana; and several nieces
and nephews.
She was preceded in death by an infant
brother, Danny Parker; and sisters, Juanita,
Caroline, Imojean, Trish and Della Parker.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday
at Kimes Funeral Home, Parkersburg, with
Pastor Mike Seebaugh officiating. The
visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at
the funeral home. Following the service on
Thursday, she will be cremated.
