Kenneth L. "Kenny" Chaffin, 61, of
Parkersburg, passed away Nov. 29, 2008, at his
residence.
He was born Sept. 5, 1947, in Webster County,
a son of the late Archie and Jessie Boggs
Chaffin and stepson of Ethel Chaffin of
Parkersburg. Kenny was retired from HEIST
Corporation as a water blaster, was a member
of the Painters Union Local 1144, the Amvets
and was of the Baptist faith.
Survivors include his son, Brian Chaffin
(Millie Haislep) of Parkersburg; his daughter,
Regina Chaffin of Parkersburg; stepson,
Crocket McMullen of Parkersburg;
grandchildren, Ryan Chaffin, Tosha Chaffin,
Brandy Allman, Lacey Allman and Tanner and
Luke McMullen; brothers, Mike Chaffin, Gary
Chaffin, Roger (Vera) Chaffin and Randy (Kay)
Chaffin, all of Parkersburg; and several
nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Monetta Wilkinson Chaffin;
and stepdaughter, Tina Allman.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Ronnie Hendershot will officiate
and burial will follow at Sunset Memory
Gardens. The visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-
8 p.m. today.
James Henry Bailey
Parkersburg, WV
James Henry Bailey Sr., 91, of Parkersburg and
more recently of the Love & Care Home, passed
away Wednesday, Nov. 26, 2008, at the Eagle
Pointe Nursing Facility.
He was born Nov. 5, 1917, at York, Pa., a son
of the late Stewart S. and Grace F. Schmuck
Bailey.
James was a dedicated and devoted minister of
the Church of Christ for many years, dating
back to 1952. The congregations he served
include Kelton, Glen Rock and Camphill in
Pennsylvania, Belpre and Sunshine in Ohio and
Grand Central, New Martinsville, Lubeck,
Waverly and Sunrise in West Virginia. Mr.
Halley Smith baptized James in 1952 and
introduced him to the Mid-Ohio Valley. He was
highly respected and loved for his dedicated
ministry for God. His tombstone is
engraved "God's Minister: He loved his
Fellowman." His beloved wife's inscription
reads "Love in her Heart, Heaven in Her Eye."
James assisted in the baptism of hundreds of
people in the area. During gospel meetings, he
would conduct highly successful children's
classes in the auditorium prior to his sermon.
He used many verses of scripture in all of his
lessons and committed to memory hundreds of
verses and many chapters. He loved the Word of
God and devoted his life to carrying the good
news to the World.
James Bailey was a very "Giving" person. He
delighted in giving bibles and religious books
to young preacher students. His grandchildren
and great-grandchildren reaped the rewards of
his love in many ways.
Surviving is his son, James H. (Jim) Bailey
Jr. and his wife, Linda, of Vienna; two
daughters, Joyce Knapp of Hardinsburg, Ky.,
and Christine Ison and her husband, Lonnie, of
Cabins, W.Va.; his grandchildren, Jama Davis,
Brette Swarr, Megan Dougherty, Paul Fuchs,
Laurie Edmunds and Tina Copeland; and great-
grandchildren, Evan, Luke and Ryder Davis,
Tucker and Sophie Dougherty, Noah, Levi and
Carrie Fuchs, Brittany, Kody and Mackensie
Edmonds and David and Justin Copeland. He is
also survived by a brother, Stewart Bailey.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Ruth R. McDowell Bailey in
2005; an infant son, Stanley; a granddaughter,
Carrie Fuchs; and three sisters, Lois Mentzer,
Eva Behlor and Ethel Ward.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Saturday at
the Kimes Funeral Home Chapel, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with long time family friend,
Evangelist Donald Kline and Evangelist Tom
Butterfield officiating. Congregational
singing will be led by his grandson-in-law,
Marty Davis. Interment will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens "Garden of Peace." The family
will receive friends from 6-8 p.m. today at
the funeral home.

Theone Elizabeth Reeder
Parkersburg, WV
Theone Elizabeth Reeder 93, formerly of
Edgelawn Street, Parkerbsurg, passed away November 23, 2008 at the Willows Nursing
Center.
She was born April 14, 1915 at Bridgeport,
Ohio, a daughter of the late Rev. Ralph
Britton Roan and Martha M, . Bowman Roan.
Theone was a lifetime member of the Liberty
Street Church of God where she served as
church organist for 68 years, was a member of
the Missionary Society (WCG) and served as
Sunday school secretary. She also faithfully
served as organist with Kimes Funeral Home for
over 34 years. She enjoyed bowling with the
Ren-Dor leagues and working on count and cross-
stitching.
Surviving are two sons, Robert "Bob" Reeder
and his wife, Pat, of Little Hocking and Jerry
Reeder of Columbs, Ohio; and daughter-in-law,
Elanor Reeder of Grafton, Va; six
grandchildren, Shari Chambers, Eric Reeder,
Kim Turner, Emily Carver, Danielle Guthrie,
and Brent Reeder; seven great-grandchildren; a
brother, Ralph B. "Ted" Roan of Columbus; and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceeded
in death by her husband, George C. "Tiny"
Reeder, a son Larry Reeder, her daughter-in-
law Elaine Watson Reeder; an infant son; an
infant grandson; and a brother, Don Roan.
The funeral service for Theone will be held at
1 p.m. Wednesday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
5th St., Parkersburg. her grandsons, Pastors,
Eric and Brent Reeder, and Pastor Brian
Harrell will officiate. Burial will follow at
Sunset Memory gardens. The visitation will be
from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. on Tuesday.
Norma M. West
Parkersburg, WV
Norma M. West, 63, of Parkersburg, passed away at Ruby Memorial Hospital in Morgantown on
Nov. 18, 2008.
She was born Nov. 4, 1945, a daughter of the
late Theodore (Gerald) and Mabel (Gray) Dillon.
Norma was owner of Big Don's Sewer & Drain
Cleaning and former employee of Brockway Glass
and Nashua Photo.
Surviving is her devoted husband of 45 years,
Clarence West Jr.; two children, Clarence
(Bud) West and Sonya Crigger, both of
Parkersburg; two sisters, Alice Flinn of
Jamestown, Ohio, and Avis Rader of
Murraysville, W.Va.; two brothers, Donald
Dillon and Ronald Dillon of Parkersburg; five
granddaughters; two grandsons; and three great-
grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her youngest son, Michael E. West;
a brother, Charley G. Dillon; and a sister,
Della M. Collins.
The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. The Rev. Jim Eakle will officiate
and burial will follow at the Anderson
Cemetery at Belleville. The visitation will be
from 6-8 p.m. today at the funeral home.
Following the committal service at the
cemetery, all relatives and friends are
invited to the Gihon Road United Methodist
Church (in front of the Golf Course) for a
meal and time of fellowship
Trixie B. Hess
Parkersburg, WV
Trixie B. Hess, 83, of Parkersburg, went home
to be with the Lord on Nov. 16, 2008, at the
Marietta (Ohio) Nursing & Rehabilitation
Center on Bartlett Street.
She was born Oct. 25, 1925, in Spencer, W.Va.,
a daughter of the late Herbert and Ora
Hershman Dunaway.
She was a 1944 graduate of Parkersburg High
School and retired from Montgomery Wards with
45 years of service, first in sales and later
in the Bookkeeping Department. Trixie was a
member of the Broadway Nazarene Church. Before
becoming a member there, she was very active
in the First Wesleyan Church for over 50
years. She was a member of the Gideons
International Auxiliary for 50 years. She
loved to crochet and made baby blankets
for "Blankets of Blessings" and was an avid
reader.
Her pride and joy was her children,
grandchildren and great-grandchildren, who
include one son, Stanley "Jack" Hess Jr. of
Parkersburg; two daughters, Linda Bolinger
(Tom) of Washington and Loretta McCoy (Randy)
of Davisville; grandchildren, Sherry Walker
(Leon) of Washington, Tommy Bolinger
(Margaret) of Colorado Springs, Colo., Phillip
McCoy (Christy) of Coolville, Ramona McCoy of
Deerwalk, Andrea McCoy of Parkersburg and
Randall McCoy (Brittany) of Parkersburg; and
seven great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband of 50 years, Stanley
J. Hess Sr. on May 10, 1995; her sister and
brother-in-law, Madeline and Lloyd Theiss;
brothers-in-law, Harry Hess and Kenneth Hess;
and sister-in-law, Genevieve McDiffit Nepper.
During the last two years and eight months
that she was a resident of the Marietta
Center, she was active in all of the
activities and had became a member of the Red
Hat Society and enjoyed her years there. She
made so many new friends whom she came to love
and they loved her in return.
The family would like to express their
thankfulness for the wonderful care and love
that was given while she was there.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Thursday
at the Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor William Hines and the
Rev. Harold Eaton officiating. Burial will
follow at Evergreen North Cemetery. The
visitation will be from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Wednesday at the funeral home.
Following the committal service at the
cemetery, the family would like to invite all
the relatives and friends for a meal and time
of fellowship at the Broadway Nazarene Church
Fellowship Hall at 901 Broadway Avenue in
south Parkersburg.
