Cecil Burdette Hale
Parkersburg, WV

Cecil Burdette Hale, 62, of Parkersburg, left
his home and the loving care of his wife and
family to be in the presence of his Savior and
Lord, Jesus Christ on April 16, 2009.

He was born Oct. 29, 1946, at Belleville, the
son of Eythel M. Morriston Hale of Parkersburg
and the late Wilson B. (Pete) Hale. Cecil was
a member of the Old Country Church, where he
served faithfully as superintendent for many
years. He graduated from Parkersburg High
School in 1965. Cecil spent most of his life
driving tractor-trailer and as a mechanic. He
was a mechanic, worked in the body shop and
drove bus for the Wood County Board of
Education. He was owner of both a garage and
body shop, his own tractor-trailer and a dump
truck business, CH Trucking. His life long
dream was owning a dump truck. He served with
the Army National Guard for over 10 years.

He dedicated his life to serving his Lord in
any way that he could. Cecil loved bluegrass
and gospel music and enjoyed bluegrass
festivals and loved to sing in church. He
spent many weekends and vacations in the
mountains of West Virginia, camping and
fishing. He had great memories of taking his
sons every Friday night when they were growing
up to the races and driving push truck. Cecil
was loved and respected by everyone that knew
him.

He was a very loving and devoted husband, son,
father and grandfather. He will always be
remembered by his quick smile and doing
anything he could to help anyone in need.

Cecil spent the last six years fighting a very
devastating disease called "Picks Disease"
which affects only one in 100, 000 people. He
was at home in the loving care of his wife and
family, nurses and homemakers from pro-carrers
and West Virginia Central Aging and Housecalls
Hospice. His wonderful doctors, Dr. Lance
McCoy who helped us from the very start and
Dr. David Butler who treated him with the best
care until the end. Both doctors gave their
special care and support to both Cecil and his
family, also, Dr. Bill Johnson and Dr. Wayne
Dunn. Our daughter, Shelly, who trained just
to be able to help with his care, and the
support of the Old Country Church with
constant prayers, and the Camden-Clark
Ambulance Service, the Parkersburg Fire
Department and St. Joseph's Ambulance Service,
who were always there when an emergency arose
with much care and concern for Cecil's comfort
and help and concern for the family also. And
a very special caregiver, Linda McCumbers,
that became like family to all of us. All
these people are very much appreciated.

In addition to his mother, he is survived by
loving wife and best friend, Patricia Freshour
Hale; two sons, Kermit B. Hale (Sandra) and
Kenneth W. Hale (Amber); one daughter,
Richelle Lucas (Mart); three granddaughters,

Mary Cathleen Hale, whom he treasured with all
of his heart; one brother-in-law, Lawrence
