Scott A McMahan
Parkersburg, WV

Scott A. McMahan, 49, of Parkersburg, passed
away at home Labor Day Weekend, 2010.

Scott was born Oct. 17, 1960 at Columbus,
Ohio, a son of the late Richard F. and Edith
Rader McMahan.

He was employed with 'N Focus Optical Lab as a
Lens Technician and loved his job. He was a
lifelong bicycle enthusiast having won several
BMX Trophies and awards.

Survivors include a sister, Jane Slagter of
Pittsburgh; a brother, Richard McMahan of
Lewisburg and many friends, including Doug
Cook, Mark Schauwecker, Ed Walker and Bill
Kelley.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by a brother, Ted Whitlatch.

Private Memorial Services will be held at the
convenience of the family.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Kimes
Funeral Home and Cremation Services, 521 Fifth
St., Parkersburg.

Charlie Lyons
Parkersburg, WV

Charlie Lyons, 51, of Parkersburg, passed away
at his residence, 1803 Beaver St.,
Parkersburg, W.Va., on Aug. 29, 2010.

He was born July 20, 1959, a son of the late
Raymond Edward Lyons Sr. and Hazel Wilma Cross
Lyons.

He enjoyed cooking, family camping at the
cabin, deer hunting and spending time with
family and friends.

He is survived by wife, Della Lyons; daughter,
Wilma Jean Sprouse (Matt) and their sons,
Michael "Mikey" and Logan Sprouse; daughter,
Christina Ann Lyons (Donnie) and their
children, Mackenzie, Caden, Dakota, Jacob and
Donavan; son, Paul Eugene Lyons (Christy) and
her son, Clayton; son, James "Little" Michael
Lyons (Megan) and her daughter, Alena; son,
Raymond William Lyons and his children,
Raymond II, Suzanna, Travis and Carolyn; son,
Charles "Big" Michael Lyons Jr. and his
daughters, Kerstin and Lindsay Lyons; two
great-grandchildren, Cintilla and Katalina;
his caregiver, Kayla Shutts; sisters, Nancy
Sundstrom (Mike), Violet Sims (Mike), Frances
Null, Beatrice "Beebe" Salyers,
Virginia "Marie" Lyons; two brothers,
Raymond "Bubby" and William "Billy" Lyons; and
several nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by sisters, Ruth E. Dennis and Sarah L.
Chen; and a brother, Samuel L. Lyons.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Thursday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Doug Guinn
officiating. Burial will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. The family will receive
friends from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m. Wednesday at the
funeral home.

William George Powell
Slate, WV

Parkersburg attorney William George Powell of
Slate, Elizabeth Pike, passed away late
Thursday, Aug. 19, 2010, in Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.

Born Sept. 10, 1949, in Parkersburg, he was
the son of the late George Raymond Powell and
Irene Kathryn Ebersbach Powell.

Bill was a lifelong member of First United
Methodist Church, where he sang in the choir,
was a trustee, and with his wife Debbie, was a
youth counselor. Bill was an Eagle Scout. For
many years he served on the executive
committee of Kootaga Area Council (Ohio and
West Virginia) Boy Scouts of America.

Mr. Powell was a 1967 graduate of Parkersburg
High School. At West Virginia University he
enrolled in the United States Army Reserve
Officers' Training Corps and was commissioned
a second lieutenant. Also while at WVU, Bill
was a member of the debate team, and chosen
captain. He graduated Phi Beta Kappa with a
bachelor of arts in political science and a
minor in history in 1971. Bill received his
Jurum Doctor from Duke University School of
Law in 1974. He clerked for Judge Herbert S.
Boreman, United States Court of Appeals 4th
Circuit, in Richmond, Va.

Mr. Powell served his active duty with the
United States Army at Fort Eustis, Va., and
attained the rank of captain. Bill was
admitted to the West Virginia Bar in 1975. His
private practice included banking law, real
estate, domestic relations, estate planning
and corporate law. Bill was a member of
Nemesis Shrine Temple and a director of
Community Bank of Parkersburg until the time
of his death.

Surviving are his wife, Deborah Bryant Brittan
Powell, and their beloved animal companions;
his sister, Barbara Ayers, her husband, John,
and their son, John Powell Ayers, who reside
in Beckley; his mother's sister, Bernice
Eloise (Kate) Wilson of Middleport, Ohio; nine
cousins, nearby in Ohio and West Virginia;
brother-in-law, James W. Brittan Jr., his
wife, Susan Wells Brittan, and their children,
Kelly Elizabeth Brittan and Daniel James
Brittan, who reside in New Albany, Ohio.
Special friends are Richard C. Oesterle Jr.
and Randall E. Snider, both of Parkersburg.

A memorial service will be 11 a.m., Tuesday,
Aug. 24, 2010, at Kimes Funeral Home, 521
Fifth St., Parkersburg, with the Rev. Marilyn
Schroeder officiating. Inurnment will follow
in Mount Olivet Cemetery with Masonic
graveside rites. The family will receive
friends at the funeral home beginning one hour
prior to the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to The
Humane Society of Parkersburg.

Larry Wayne Moore
Parkersburg, WV

Larry Wayne Moore, 64, of Parkersburg, passed
away Aug. 13, 2010, at his home.

He was born in Parkersburg, a son of the late
Clifford and Virginia Piggott Moore.

He had worked at a trucking company warehouse
at one time but has been disabled now for some
time.

Surviving is an aunt, Roxie Evans, and a
cousin, Judith Somervill, both of Parkersburg.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his grandparents, Stewart and Edna
Piggott; stepmother, Mary Moore; and cousins,
Charles Michael Evans and Gary Evans.

The funeral service will be 3 p.m. Tuesday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Chris Waldron will be speaking.
Burial will follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery,
Parkersburg. There will be visitation from
noon to 3 p.m. Tuesday.

Ada I Richards
Parkersburg, WV

Ada I. Richards, 92, of Parkersburg, passed
away Aug. 13, 2010, at the Willows Center.

Ada was born May 22, 1918, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late William Lafayette Brand
and Hazel Evans Brand.

She was a member of the Trinity United
Methodist Church, was a graduate of PHS class
of 1938, and Mountain State College, and had
worked as a bookkeeper for over 50 years with
Graham Packing, Kestersons Ice and Storage,
and the Ice House.

She is survived by one son, Lee Richards of
Parkersburg; three sisters, Eunice Parsons,
Wilma Garten, and Geneva Nichols; two
grandsons, Chad and Rocky; three great-
grandchildren; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents she was preceded in
death by her husband, L.D. "Doc" Richards and
one brother, Paul E. Brand.

Funeral services will be 1:30 p.m. Sunday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Doug Guinn
officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens. Visitation will be from 6-8
p.m. today and one hour prior to the service
at the funeral home.

Marie Anne Lee
Sandyville, WV

Marie Anne Lee, 87, of Sandyville, W.Va.,
passed away Aug. 5, 2010, at Eldercare in
Ripley.

She was born July 10, 1923 at South Nelson,
New Brunswick, Canada, a daughter of the late
Connick and Rose Bushy Martin. Marie was a
member of the St. Joseph Catholic Church of
Spokane, Wash. and had worked as a Department
Store Clothing Buyer. She was a member of the
VFW of Ripley and the American Legion of
Athol, Idaho.

Surviving is one son, Ronald Martin Campbell
of Lincoln, Wash.; two daughters, Linda Flynn
(Mike) of Sandyville with whom she made her
home, and June Fortier of California, Md.; 13
grandchildren and several great-grandchildren;
three sisters, Veronica Moseley (Roy) of
Montreal, Quebec, Canada, Elizabeth Dolomont
of Maine and Anna Miles of Silver Springs,
Md.; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her first husband, Robert A.
Campbell; her second husband, Alton Lee; a
son, Robert Glen Campbell; a son-in-law, Mike
Fortier.

There will be no local services or visitation.

There will be a service at the convenience of
the family at a later date in Spokane, Wash.
and her ashes will be intered at the St.
Joseph Catholic Cemetery at Spokane.

Kimes Funeral Home and Cremation Services of
Parkersburg is assisting the family.
