N. Deloris Morehead
Parkersburg, WV

N. Deloris Morehead, 83, of Parkersburg,
passed away Aug. 3, 2010, at Camden-Clark
Memorial Hospital.

She was born Oct. 19, 1926 in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Peter Jacob Randolph and
Hazel Dent Randolph Matheny.

Deloris was a graduate of Parkersburg High
School, a member of Trinity United Methodist
Church and she had worked for C&P Telephone
Company as a switchboard operator and other
places of business as an operator as well.

She enjoyed being a homemaker and was married
to W. Paul Morehead for the past 65 years.

They have one son, Stephen R. Morehead of El
Sanora, Calif.; two grandsons, Matthew and
Nathan Morehead and a great-grandson, Tyler
Morehead, all in California; and a special
niece, Kim Randolph of Parkersburg.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her twin brother, P.J. Randolph
and two half-brothers, Gordon and James Brown.

The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg. Pastor Bernard "Dobby" Thrash
will officiate and entombment will follow at
Sunset Memory Gardens. The visitation will be
on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.

Robert O (Bob) Spencer
Ravenswood, WV

Robert O. "Bob" Spencer, 83, of the Ravenswood
Personal Care Home, passed away on July 29,
2010, at Charleston Area Medical Center after
an extended illness.

He was born in Wood County on July 12, 1927, a
son of the late Eva M. Spencer Schrader and
Tracy O. Spencer.

He attended Parkersburg schools, played
trombone in the PHS Marching Band and served
in the U.S. Army as a paratrooper and with the
occupation troops in Korea. He was Protestant
by faith and attended Broadway Baptist Church
during his childhood. He was employed many
years at AB Chance Co. and retired from Dravo
Co. in Apple Grove, Ohio.

He is survived by the mother of his children,
Lillian Spencer of Parkersburg; one daughter,
Judith Somerville (Hank) of Vienna; two sons,
Randy (Sara) Spencer of Hurricane and Robert
II (Joy) Spencer of Parkersburg; one brother,
Harold (Dorothy) Spencer of Parkersburg;
grandchildren, Meredith Moran, Adam Evans,
Justin Spencer, Christopher (Erin) Spencer,
Samantha Spencer, Alexis Spencer, and Ross
Spencer; great-grandchildren, Paige and Evan
Moran; and nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his stepfather, Vic Schrader;
brother, Tracy Spencer; sister, Marie
Clendenin; infant daughter, Kimberly Marie;
and his second wife, Margaret Tuttle.

The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, Pastor Dobby Thrash will
officiate and burial will follow at Evergreen
South Cemetery with military rites conducted
by the American Legion Post #15 of
Parkersburg. The visitation will be Sunday
from 5-8 p.m.

Corinne Prenatt Varner
Parkersburg, WV

Corinne Prenatt Varner, beloved wife, mother,
and grandmother, passed away the morning of
July 28, 2010, a daughter of William and Mary
Prenatt of Titusville, Pa.

Corinne along with her three brothers and two
sisters were adventurous and known around the
neighborhood as the terrible curly heads.

Corinne was married to James B. Varner and had
three wonderful children, David B. Varner and
wife, Kim Varner, of Neoga, Ill.; Abigail Nida
and husband, Rusty Nida, of Proctorville,
Ohio; and Cassandra Kennedy of Parkersburg.

She had seven successful grandchildren of whom
she was very proud, Sarah Varner, Andrew
Varner (Ali Wise), Katherine Nida, Rachel
Kennedy Propst (Sam Propst), Michaelyn
Kennedy, Matthew Kennedy, and Amy Kennedy, and
one great-granddaughter, Lucy Isabella Varner,
daughter of Andrew Varner and Ali Wise.
Corinne is also survived by her sister, Mary
Alice Lazzaro; brother, Pierre Prenatt; and
many wonderful nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her dear husband,
Jim; brothers, Bill Prenatt and Leon Prenatt;
and sister, Joan Campione.

Corinne graduated with a BA in English from
Mercyhurst College, volunteered at the
Clothing Cupboard at her church, St. Margaret
Mary, loved to garage sale and talk about her
grandchildren. She was loved by all who truly
knew her and leaves a legacy of honesty, hard
work, and love.

There will be private graveside services at
Mt. Carmel Cemetery. The Rev. Mr. John Maher
will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Memorial contributions may be made to Amedisys
Hospice and Mercyhurst College.

Kimes Funeral Home of Parkersburg is assisting
the family with the arrangements.

Barbara Ann Helmic
Parkersburg, WV

Barbara Ann Helmic, 65, of Parkersburg, went
home to the Lord Wednesday, July 28, 2010, at
her home following an extended illness.

She was born March 7, 1945, in Montgomery,
W.Va., a daughter of the late Mary Elizabeth
Elswick Morton and John Dennis Morton Sr. She
was a homemaker and a former Sunday School
Teacher at Trinity United Methodist Church,
where she was a longtime member. Barbara was
also a member of the United Methodist women.
She enjoyed spending time with family and
friends as well as watching her two grandsons
play baseball.

She is survived by her loving husband of 47
years, William P. "Bill" Helmic of
Parkersburg; one son and daughter-in-law,
William Scott and Kendra D. Helmic of
Parkersburg; two grandsons, Ryan S. Helmic and
Dustin W. Helmic of Parkersburg; sisters and
brothers-in-law, Joan and Bob Akers of
Ashland, Ky., Mary Jane and Floyd West of Glen
Ferris, Linda and Rommel Slack of Pontiac,
Mich., and Ruthie and John Nicholas of Gauley
Bridge; and brothers and sisters-in-law, John
and Peggy Morton of Summersville and Mike and
Debbie Morton of Angier, N.C.

The funeral service will be 1 p.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, the Rev. David Stilgenbauer and
Mark Jarvis will be speaking and entombment
will follow at Sunset Memory Gardens Three
Crosses Mausoleum. The visitation will be from
6-8 p.m. today and Friday from noon until the
time of the service.

Memorial contributions may be directed to
Housecalls Hospice of Parkersburg or the ALS,
Muscular Dystrophy, 900 Lee St., Suite 1010,
Charleston, WV 25301.

James Marshall Conley
Cornelius, NC

James Marshall Conley, 94, of Cornelius, N.C.,
died Friday, July 23, 2010, at the Laurels.

He was born Aug. 19, 1915, in Jingo, W.Va., a
son of the late James William Conley and Ethel
Hughes Conley.

He was a World War II U.S. Coast Guard
veteran, a member of the Parkersburg, WV
Masonic Order and the American Legion.

Surviving are his sons, Dennis S. Conley
(Kaye) of Cornelius and Dana N. Conley (Tyna)
of Russell, Ky.; brother, Gordon of St.
Albans; three grandchildren; and four great-
grandchildren.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Wylene Nay Conley;
brothers, Ralph, Charlie, Paul, John and
Howard; and sisters, Iva Smith, Orla Barnes,
Ruth Critchfield, Wilma Salaz and Myrtle Suter.

There will be a graveside service at 10 a.m.
Monday at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, Pastor John
Barker will officiate. Masonic graveside rites
will be conducted. There will be a visitation
at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, on Sunday from 7-9 p.m. There
will be a Scottish Rite Memorial Service at
Kimes at 7 p.m. on Sunday.

Society, 6000 Fairview Rd., Suite 200,
Charlotte, NC 28210.
