Rollin Wilson Lowers, 93, of Lubeck, passed
away June 23, 2010, at his residence.
He was born Sept. 13, 1916, at New England, a
son of the late Ira O. and Clara B. Folwell
Lowers.
Rollin retired from O'Ames with 40 years of
service and has been a member of the Lubeck
United Methodist Church since 1959. He had
served in the United States Army during World
War II stationed in the Philippines and having
attained the rank of Staff Sergeant. He was
also a recipient of the Purple Heart.
Surviving is a son, Russell Wade (Rosalea)
Lowers of Parkersburg; five grandchildren,
Brian Lowers (Jennifer) of Lakeland, Fla.,
Tami Reynolds (David) of Orlando, Fla.,
Melissa Browning (Roy) of Charleston, W.Va.,
Lisa Koon (Joe) of Lubeck and Amy Dent (Bill)
of Washington, W.Va.; five great-
grandchildren, Taylor Lowers, Brian Reynolds,
Stephanie Price, A.J. Koon and Olivia Koon;
two brothers, Leonard Lowers of Parkersburg
and Robert (JoAnn) Lowers of Washington; and
several nieces and nephews. Also surviving is
a daughter-in-law, Nancy Jewell Lowers of
Lubeck.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Cynthia Ann Yoho Lowers in
1993; a son, Glen Wayne Lowers; two brothers,
Harold Lowers and Vincent Lowers; and three
sisters, Muriel Smith, Dorothy Dawson and Iris
Anderson.
The funeral service will be held 11 a.m.
Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with Pastor Marilyn Schroeder
officiating. Entombment will follow at the
Evergreen North Cemetery. The visitation will
be on Friday from 2-4 and 6-8 p.m.
Beulah M Custer
Gainesville, FL
Beulah M. Custer of Gainesville, Fla.,
formerly of Parkersburg, went home to be with
her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ Saturday,
June 19, 2010.
She worked some at McCroys and Brodia's Stone
& Thomas, but was most of her life a
homemaker, a loving daughter and sister, a
devoted wife, mother and grandmother and great-
grandmother. Her passionate hobby was making
and dressing dolls. She was a long-time member
of Trinity United Methodist Church where she
was a Sunday school teacher and active with
the United Methodist Women.
She was also a leader and vital part of the #7
Prayer Group. Later in life she followed her
pastor son and became a member of the Leesburg
(Fla.) Church of the Nazarene, Broadway Church
of the Nazarene in Parkersburg and then First
Church of the Nazarene in Gainsville, Fla.
She is survived by her husband of 64 years,
Hubert Custer; her sister, Edna Stephens of
Gainsville, Fla.; her only son, Harold Custer
and his wife, Kay; two grandsons, Nathan
Custer (Jennifer) of Cincinnati, Ohio and
Wesley Custer (Katie) of Orlando, Fla.; and
three great-grandsons, Patrick, Andrew and
Simon Custer, all of Cincinnati, Ohio; and one
sister-in-law, Josephine Stephens of Austin,
Texas.
She was preceded in death by her parents,
Howard and Grace Stephens, and her brother,
Robert Stephens.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Friday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg, with Dr. Harold Custer
officiating. Entombment will follow at Sunset
Memory Gardens Chapel of Peace. The visitation
will be Thursday from 6-8 p.m.
Mary Lucille Clayton Lydick McClung
Parkersburg Williamstown, WV
Mary Lucille Clayton Lydick McClung, 86, of
Parkersburg and Williamstown, went from the
hands of her earthly family to the hands of
her heavenly family on June 3, 2010, after a
month long illness. The last month of her life
was spent in Camden-Clark Memorial Hospital's
south tower, acute care unit, where their
wonderful staff took such excellent care of
her.
She was born Dec. 10, 1923, in Parkersburg, to
Harry Lee Clayton Sr. and Ethel Merritt
Clayton.
She attended local schools and graduated from
Parkersburg High School in June of 1941. While
there she excelled in public speaking and
singing and was the first female tenor in the
A Cappella Choir. Shortly after graduation she
married Wayne W. Lydick and moved to Columbus,
Ohio, where he finished at Ohio State and
subsequently went into the Army. As an Army
wife, Mary traveled extensively, as her
husband was stationed in Ohio, Oklahoma,
Texas, Germany, and California. She later
married T.K. McClung and they were married
just short of 50 years at the time of his
death in 2006.
She enjoyed gardening, painting, beadwork, and
other crafts. She was a member of local garden
and homemaker groups, most recently Park-Vien
Garden Club in Vienna. She loved bright colors
and at one time made her own jewelry.
She is survived by her son, Wayne Allen Lydick
(Rosario) in Spain; her daughter, Margaret
Elaine Lydick Griffing (Mike) of Williamstown;
her grandchildren, Chary Diana Salanoa and her
boys, Toa and Thor in Florida, Kristina Lydick
Garcia and her husband, Aurelio, and their
children, Alejandro and Maria in Spain;
nephew, Gene Clayton and his wife, Brenda, of
Buckhannon; and locally niece, Linda Charlene
Clayton Swearingen and her husband, Bill;
great-nephew, Bill Swearingen and his wife
Rena; great-niece, Lienn Swearingen; as well
as many other family members.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her brother, Charles who was
killed in Korea; her sister, Geneva; both
husbands; a great-granddaughter, Patricia
Garcia Lydick; and a grandson, Allen Sinclair
Lydick.
The funeral service will be 2:30 p.m. Monday
at Kimes Funeral Home. Burial will follow at
Evergreen North Cemetery. The visitation will
be Sunday from 2-8 p.m.
Denzil Hugh "John" Johnson
Pakersburg, WV
Denzil Hugh "John" Johnson, 79, of the
Montgomery Hill area, passed away June 3,
2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born May 19, 1931 in Calhoun County, a
son of the late Willard C. and Opal Harris
Johnson.
He was a 1950 graduate of Calhoun High School
and was retired from Kaiser Aluminum. He was a
former employee of O'Ames and American
Viscose. He had also served with the United
States Marines during the Korean War and was a
recipient of the Purple Heart. He was a member
of the Rockport Church of Christ.
Surviving is his wife, Lois A. Riddle Johnson;
one son, Johnie Johnson of Parkersburg; and
one daughter, Jody Ann Johnson of Parkersburg;
three brothers, Emory (Saundra) Johnson of
Paden City, David (Sheila) Johnson of
Parkersburg, and Howard Johnson of
Grantsville; two sisters, Lyla Hughes of
Parkersburg and Grace Dailey (Frank) of
Lubeck; brothers and sisters-in-law, Hope and
Eam Batton of Delaware, Tom and Louise Breeden
of Maryland, Bernard and Barbara Riddle of
Walker, Catherine Hupp of Elizabeth, Janet and
Steve Johnson of Rockport, and Pansy and
Clarence Civitillo of Parkersburg; and many
neices and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brothers, Lee "Ox" Johnson, Limer
Johnson, Johnny Wayne Johnson and an infant
brother; sisters, Claudina "Pud" Kendall,
Lennie Johnson and an infant sister.
The funeral service will be 11 a.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. Evangelist Steve Morgan will
officiate and burial will follow at Mt. Olivet
Cemetery. The visitation will be Sunday from 2-
4 and 6-8 p.m.
I. Richard Alabaugh

I. Richard Alabaugh, 77, of Parkersburg,
passed away May 29, 2010, at Roanoke Memorial
Hospital in Roanoke, Va. He became ill on
their return trip home following their winter
stay in Florida.
He was born March 4, 1933, at Berkley Springs,
W.Va., a son of the late Emmett and Carrie
Lowthers Alabaugh.
He retired from DuPont with 35 years of
employment, was a member of Faith Baptist
Church, had served in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War and he was a member of the DAV.
Surviving is his wife, Gladys Thatcher
Reynolds Alabaugh; one son, Richard B. (Sally)
Alabaugh of Ocala, Fla.; two daughters, Sheila
Carder (Ron) of Parkersburg and Shelby
McMillion (Chris) of Beckley, W.Va.; six
grandchildren, Jessica R. Carder, Ryan
Alabaugh, Mathew Pickens, Thomas Alabaugh,
Kaye Alabaugh and Samuel McMillion; one great-
grandchild, Kailyn Pickens; one brother,
Emmett (Terry) Aulabaugh of Vienna; and
several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his first wife, Shirley Alabaugh; two
brothers, Lloyd and Regal Alabaugh; and
sisters, Irene Dawson and Mildred Gottcheck.
There will be a memorial service held at a
later date at the convenience of the family
that will be announced. His cremated remains
will be interred at Parkersburg Memorial
Gardens.

Ellas Earl Blevins
St. Marys, WV
Ellas Earl Blevins, 75, of St. Marys, passed
away May 26, 2010, at St. Joseph's Hospital.
He was born March 18, 1935, in Kentucky, a son
of the late Linford Earl and Mary Kathryn Ward
Blevins.
He was a truck driver with various trucking
companies, the most recent being JB Trucking,
and he had served in the United States Army.
Surviving is a son, Scott (Bobby Jo) Blevins
of Mineral Wells; a granddaughter, Makenzie
Paige Blevins; nephews, Tony Blevins, Lemmi
Irick, Junior Irick and Johnny Irick; and
nieces, Tammy Lanagen, Gigi Lanagen, Tina
Lanagen, Teresa Irick and Beth Irick.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by brother, Bill Irick; sisters, Lena
Blevins Cox and Kathy Blevins Lanagen; and a
nephew, Ed Lanagen.
There will be no service or visitation. Burial of his ashes will be at Mt. Olivet Cemetery at
the convenience of the family.
