Martha Shuttleworth, 83, of Marietta, formerly
of Williamstown, passed away in her sleep
Sunday morning (Oct. 25, 2009).
She was born in Wood County, W.Va., a daughter
of the late Herman and Dolly Williams Lucas.
She had worked at Yonkers Manufacturing as a
seamstress. She was a CB radio operator under
the name "Lady Beatle-Baum, " and she enjoyed
reading and sewing.
Surviving are her son, Ralph (Marty)
Shuttleworth; two daughters, Cora Pottmeyer
and Helen Hendershot (Rick), all of Marietta;
six grandchildren; three great-grandchildren;
and three sisters, Nellie Aumiller, Helen
Smith Echard (Gil) and Inez McQueen (John),
all of Parkersburg.
She was preceded in death by her husband,
Ralph F. Shuttleworth; three brothers; and a
sister.
There will be a graveside service at 11 a.m.
Wednesday at the Riverview Cemetery in
Williamstown. Visitation will be from 2 to 4
and 6 to 8 p.m. today at Kimes Funeral home,
521 5th St., Parkersburg.
She was born Jan. 15, 1972, in Parkersburg, a
daughter of William L. Fint of Parkersburg and
the late Cheryl A. Henderson Fint Machachlan.
In addition to her father, she is survived by
her stepmother, Ruth Fint of Parkersburg;
grandparents, Richard and Helen Henderson of
Albany, Ga.; sister, Audra M. Helm and her
husband, Michael, and their son, David, of
Spartansburg, S.C.; sister, Deborah A. Watson
and her husband, Shannon, and their daughter,
Madison, and their sons, Zachary and Parker,
of Parkersburg; uncle and aunt, Denzil and Ann
Fint and family; and great-uncle and aunt,
Jack and Jane McFee, all of Elizabeth. She is
also survived by her long time caregivers,
Susanne and Manfred Janotha of Pennsboro; and
her more recent caregivers, Frances and
Richard Bunner of Harrisville.
Krista loved music and watching videos. She
also loved people and watching birds and
animals.
The funeral service for Krista will be 2 p.m.
Thursday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth St.,
Parkersburg, with the Rev. Dr. William R.
Thomas officiating. Burial will follow at East
Lawn Memorial Park near Marietta. The
visitation will be from 6-8 p.m. Wednesday and
an hour prior to the service Thursday at the
funeral home.
There will be a reception dinner following the
burial service at the VFW Post 5108, 319 Pike
St., Marietta.
Lawrence Clarence Thomas
Parkersburg, WV
Lawrence Clarence Thomas, 81, of Parkersburg,
passed away Oct. 22, 2009, at his grandson's
home, where he has been residing.
He was born Oct. 23, 1927, in Doddridge
County, a son of the late Avery and Hattie
Thomas.
Lawrence retired from the Ames Company with 36
years of service and was a member of the
United Steelworkers Union.
Surviving are four sons, Larry Thomas (Amy)
and Danny Thomas, both of Parkersburg, John
Thomas and Ronnie Thomas, both of Rockport;
six daughters, Sue Lawhorn (Steve) of Beverly,
Ohio, Tammy Thomas of Harrisville, Mary
Richards (Delbert) and Linda Curtis, both of
Parkersburg, Nancy Smetzer of Mineral Wells
and Nellie Treadway (Jim) of Davisville; a
granddaughter he adopted, Melissa Tebay
(Jason) of Davisville; 19 grandchildren; 21
great-grandchildren; and several nieces and
nephews.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in
death by his wife, Dorothy Richards Thomas; a
son, Jim Thomas; a brother, Richard Thomas;
and a sister, Irene Fought.
The funeral service will be 2 p.m. Monday at
Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth Street,
Parkersburg. Burial will follow at Evergreen
South Cemetery. The visitation will be from
noon until service time Monday at the funeral
home.
Geraldine Marie Smith
Parkersburg, WV
Geraldine Marie Smith, 90, of Parkersburg
passed away Oct. 21, 2009, at The Willows
Nursing Center, where she had been a resident.
She was born Sept. 17, 1919, in Wood County, a
daughter of the late Otto and Nora Robinson
Eberhardt.
Geraldine was a homemaker and had attended the
Liberty Street Church of God.
Surviving is her son, former Parkersburg
Police Detective James K. (Jim) Smith and his
wife, Lois Kay, of Mt. Pleasant, S.C.;
grandsons, Robert Smith and Christopher Smith;
stepgranddaughter, Kimberly McIntire; and
eight great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded
in death by her husband, Howard Kenneth "Bill"
Smith in 1982; three brothers, Russell, Joseph
and Clarence Eberhardt; and two sisters,
Evelyn Robey and Mary Kathryn Shook.
The funeral service for Geraldine will be 2
p.m. Saturday at Kimes Funeral Home, 521 Fifth
St., Parkersburg, with Pastor Dave Cumpston
officiating. Burial will follow at the
Fairview Cemetery on New England Ridge Road.
The visitation will be from noon until service
time Saturday at the funeral home.
Ensell F. Jones
Parkersurg, WV
Ensell F. Jones, 89, of Parkersburg passed
away Oct. 21, 2009, at Camden-Clark Memorial
Hospital.
He was born March 9, 1920, in West Virginia, a
son of the late Richard and Gracie Catlip
Jones.
Ensell was a graduate of Sumner High School,
had served in the United States Army during
World War II and worked as a custodian.
Surviving is his brother, Regis Jones (Esther)
of Parkersburg; a sister, Regina Donaway
(Nathaniel) of Anchorage, Alaska; several
nieces and nephews, including Regis Jones II
(Beth), Ensell Jones (Shellie), Briania Davis
and Zarion Jones (and Joshua), all of
Parkersburg, and Patty, Daniell and Nathaniel,
all of Anchorage, Alaska; and other nieces and
nephews.
He was preceded in death by three sisters,
Rosalee Logan, Gracie Carol Peters and Aileen
Jones.
At Ensell's request, there will be no viewing
or services. Burial of his ashes will be at
Spring Grove Cemetery.
